Some extra advice that would be good to include: Picking the place to host. This is most likely one of the most challenging parts of hosting. You need to have a spot that has good cover, and shouldn’t be too terribly uneven for dividing into teams- you want to have a place where each team has an equal chance. For example, if 1 team has all the trees and has a large hill to camp on, that could be unfair. (Symmetry is good) You also want to have easy access to bathrooms and parking. Nobody likes hauling their equipment up a hill just to get there. Finding a place away from bystanders is also very good. Pick a place where there are less people. You don’t want to make people feel like they are getting pushed out by your group. Be courteous to other people in the park. Ideally, you also want a place with shade especially if your in a state where it gets brain meltingly hot in the summer, like Iowa. Along those lines- Providing water and some cups for people is a very good idea. Staying hydrated is key when running around flinging foam. Everyone _should_ bring a large water bottle, but there’s always going to be people that don’t. Knowing some basic first aid is never a bad idea. You need to know how to treat heatstroke and heat exhaustion. (Likewise things like hypothermia and frostbite if your in cold weather) Knowing how to treat basic scrapes, cuts, and bruises is a good start. Bring a first aid kit, never hurts to be prepared. Anyways that’s all I can think of for now.
Watched this video on Wednesday, searched Facebook groups for Nerf wars - found one and signed up on Thursday - now attending my FIRST war on Saturday (tomorrow)! Thanks for the advice!
Im running my first war monday. This really helped. Its being advertised and we are soon possibly getting 50 loaners. I have no current fps cap, purely because most of the people arent serious about modding, so fair judgement will determine what is and is not allowed
Excellent advice as I'm trying to start my own Nerf club in my local area, your video has given me a great deal of important information for starting my own group. Absolutely invaluable information that will help me and inspire me to get things going, I just new to find one or two others to help me with marshalling and setting up places to hold Nerf wars, I'm hoping my local leisure centre will be able to let me rent a small indoor arena as I used to rent out a 5-A-level side football (soccer) pitch every week. I now have a good set of plans and rules etc. to get started and hopefully get it sponsored by my local toy store or other company to make it mutually beneficial, as well as advertising events. Thank you for the video and the ideas to get my own club started, this is exactly what I needed. You're most helpful in so many ways, I thank you again for all the ideas and will let you know how it goes!
Hey Captain I have a predicament recently at a garage sale I found a inbox ultimator and I don’t know if I should take it out of the package or not because I’ve always wanted one just as a really really cool shield Buster at our wars please someone help!
Generally helpful advice, especially as someone who hasn't had the greatest success in this aspect but is still trying. This helps with that. Some things I might want to keep in mind.
Oh this video is cool as hell. I was making my own game recently and setting it up and i was looking at the layout and im trying to decide on HVZ or Team Deathmatch.... What do you think?
Both. You can run them one after the other, or on different days. Heck, some deathmatch after HVZ would be great to let off some steam from hvz rounds, especially if people got zombied early.
My problem is that everyone I want to invite, either don't have a blaster or think Nerf is for kids. (And I can't lend out blasters for everyone, I simply don't have enough blasters!)
Just a quick idea: I play in a pool league and rule arguments have turned into their own sport it seems. Hash out the rules first (make sure to get other responsible people to look them over, quite possibly they may think of something overlooked), print them out with signature slots and make copies. Everyone that plays that event must sign a copy of the rules stating they have read and understand them. Then, if there is a conflict, hey, they were given a copy and signed it saying they agreed to it, suck it up or leave.
Go to the office and ask for the person on charge? Have your rules, your scenarios, your safety requirements written down and with you. Ensure them it will be safe and that you will clean up.
Hey I live in Washington aswell just 45 minutes away from fort worden do you think I could come nerf sometime I was wondering when your next game is! I have been wanting to go to a nerf war for a while and that sounds like so much fun!!!
Depends on what blasters are allowed. Our group allows anyone who can pull a trigger to play on our wars that have a 150 fps cap. Beyond that we start restricting it to older kids and adults.
We generally do two dart sweeps. One before lunch and one at the very end. Most people don't bother to sort and recover their darts any more. They have become so cheap people consider them disposable. So most darts end up in a community bin.
@@CaptainXavier Has your local parks dept given you any issues? I have to assume that darts get missed occasionally... have you had any issues with "littering"? I am interested in starting a club in my area (North East Texas) and "littering" laws are stringently enforced here. Also, do you employ a rule to the effect of "you play, you clean" or do you have a group of players that acts as a recovery/cleanup team?
I would find it helpful if you could post the rules of some of the game types that you all use. That is something I have wondered about because I can't find very many posting on things like that. Except for capture the flag or free for all kind of stuff. Thanks.
How to find or start a nerf group when you live in a small hole in a country where recon mkIIs cost 640kr ($80, no joke)? This is sarcasm if you don't get it.

*IMPORTANT* If you are starting something in a public location, DO NOT allow blasters with full paint jobs (no orange tips).

Ok... Just rewatched the intro 5 times. Great!!!

This is very helpful, as I'm having a birthday party with my friends, and we're planning on having nerf wars.
Do we have a “find my local nerf group” thing yet?

Diego Blattler if you do take it out of the box make sure to keep the box in pristine condition
leave it in box, imagine how bad you would feel if you found an out of box one, it happens...
There's no point protecting a "valuable" item if it's keeping you from having fun. Do what you want with it. Maybe keep the package though.
I agree with the first reply. Keep the box but use the blaster. It was made to be used. Not using it denies it its purpose.
This information is really helpful. I’ve been trying to get a war off the ground for ages.
This is a great guide, thank you. Looking forward to organizing an event this summer.
Superb video CPT, as always 😀. Extremely useful video for even an existing NERF Club to improve their game (pun intended).
I started building my club in Edmonton Alberta, during COVID. So no events yet. Edmonton Foam Flingers
Good idea for a video
I’ve been recently uploading some nerf war gameplays on my channel, so these tips are going to be very useful for those events, thanks!

Helpful because I’d like to start a Nerf club in my hometown (Phoenix, AZ).
Awesome video and very helpful for someone who wants to start a club.
My problem is that everyone I want to invite, either don't have a blaster or think Nerf is for kids. (And I can't lend out blasters for everyone, I simply don't have enough blasters!)
Only thing I have to add would be to make sure people know who's in charge of what, and have that printed out in the rules.
Thank you I need this for this Saturday.
always handy to have extra water and extra sunscreen available
We have the mega shield armour peircing rule at our Bristol blast UK games
Thanks Cap
This vid was very helpful because I'm trying to start a nerf club in my town
We just play at our church. Our youth pastor has games sometimes
Is there somewhere we can see your groups basic rules and game rules? (For inspiration and extrapolation.)
Yes. PaNNC on facebook or the Olympia Foam Society. One should have rules listed.
do you think you can make a thomas the tank engine skin on a nerf blaster/gun if you do make a vid on it

Is there any places near Allentown PA that Nerf and stuff I don't know
Google it. Check Facebook. Check Nerf Haven. If nothing comes up...START ONE (that is rather the point of this video...)
Captain Xavier thanks ❤
There’s also a link in the sidebar on the nerf subreddit of active groups, check that. I know that there are groups in Pennsylvania, check around.
LightningEagle14 thanks ❤
scavenger 6 no problem!
you should make a roughcut that fires the first four barrels in one shot and then the bottom four in the next shot.
Do you have any suggestions on how to approach my local park board?
Go to the office and ask for the person on charge? Have your rules, your scenarios, your safety requirements written down and with you. Ensure them it will be safe and that you will clean up.

It is pretty awesome. We hope to start having events again later this year or next year.
Great video and information. What are appropriate age groups for a nerf battle
Depends on what blasters are allowed. Our group allows anyone who can pull a trigger to play on our wars that have a 150 fps cap. Beyond that we start restricting it to older kids and adults.
I atually took notes
watching this for help starting a nerf war in ireland
Great video. Only thing i would add would be adressing dart recovery. How to and whos responsibility. How do you guys do recovery in a park?
We generally do two dart sweeps. One before lunch and one at the very end. Most people don't bother to sort and recover their darts any more. They have become so cheap people consider them disposable. So most darts end up in a community bin.

@@chancegilbert7829 we have yet to have an issue at our usual parks. Generally you play you clean.

I was considering making that the next video. :P
Sounds good. Thank you, sir.
I can also link you the google drive file that the person who runs MANO gave me. It has all of their rules and gametypes.

Are fvjs hard tip darts?
Yes
Does anyone know of a Nerf war near Central Florida?
Thank you!!!!!!
It would be interesting to se a master keyed Kronos
Steven Shade it’s only a matter of time before I see one. It’s an obviously good choice. Someone’s probably already done it, I just haven’t seen it.
When we do nerf wars we do several different games not just one
What if no one in my area nerf?
Convince them to start. Or go somewhere else.
Where can you get 1000 darts for $26 again?
NFStrike and Lightake.
Hi
hi
i say we have 65k subs against the one who disliked
Finally!
What are FVJs?
Full Vinyl Jacket. Hard tipped darts.
@@CaptainXavier ah, so a nerf equivalent to armor piercing bullets.
Hey
Hey cap, I contacted you about stryfe motors. Could you email me the tracking number?
NO, I did not keep track of it. It should be there soon.
I am in the Chicago area, does anyone know any nerf wars in the Chicago area
Here is an idea...start one...that is kinda the point of this video...
Facebook, chicago nerf wars. There is a group in your area with very well versed players
I know there are (or at least were) some ultrastock/NIC players in the Chicago area.
How to find or start a nerf group when you live in a small hole in a country where recon mkIIs cost 640kr ($80, no joke)?
