Awesome video, ultra clear, clean, and constructive, unlike some other mod videos where a 2mega pixel camera is shaking saying 'DONT REMOVE THIS AT ALL'
Love how intuitive the tutorial is. Wish more people made them like this. Very clear instructions and camera angles. Beautiful work. This video will last forever on youtube.
ive been waiting for someone to make the sledgefire practical! ive always been a fan of how the barrel break operates, so this is a must-do mod! keep up the great work, love how in depth and fleshed out your vids are!
Super fun mod. It's hard to find conduit in these sizes in the US however. I was able to make a brassed version using 1/2 inch conduit with 1/2" open caps that I dremmeled down. For the barrel I used 9/16 brass with a 1/2 inch of inlaid 17/32 to hold the dart in the breech. Getting roughly the same FPS as the video. As a bonus you also get a really satisfying pop sound. Keep up the great content guys.
This is one of the best mods I've seen yet. But personally, I would leave the stock attatched, and superglue some of the shells into it for spare dart storage.
Great vid, trying this now. FYI in this vid it looks like the spring is right terminating. The spring from bunnings now is left terminating and this makes loading the spring extremely difficult. Also we found using the exact knife to cut was to dangerous, was easier to just use the needle nose players to eat away at the plastic
This is one of the best mod guides that I have ever seen. Very beginner friendly and easy to follow. Thank you so much for this. I will let you know how the mod goes on my sledgefire.
25mm HD conduit (the orange stuff) is a perfect fit for Mega darts. You'll need to trim parts of the outer barrel too, even if you just want a short barrel. If you want a longer one, I'm not sure how to do that easily.
Oh! This is actually what I've been wanting to make for a while now but I didn't really know how to go about it. That thing how you got the shell ejector to give you a better air seal is really quite smart.
I like the 3 shot part so I most likely won't change that part but I will be upgrading to.a 13kg spring and adding brass barrels as well as removing the air restrictors and adding the foam and stuff like you're doing in this video
Imagine coming to a nerf tournament with like two hammer shots and this dude comes in with his modded self ejecting double barrel sledge fire that hits so hard it makes the other kids cry
Tested mine on the weekend extremely consistent (10 shots) 127fps with fvjs and (3shots)155-157fps with elites and mid to high 90s with double loaded fvjs
well, I never got the C-836 to seat properly, seemed like it was too big for the white internals shell. reverted to the original spring but with the other parts of the mod and despite using the stock spring this is gnarly!
I don't know what gorram "hook" you guys think is there for that spring to be seated into - shredded my fingers trying to fir the C836 spring into wherever it's supposed to go and almost snapped the bar in half.
I love the Sledgefire and your gameplay footage of it, but would you consider briefly explaining why you run it as a primary in your wars when you're facing up against overhauled flywheels? Just want to hear your thoughts.
I'm in two minds about this mod. On the one hand, it is really cool, and simple enough. Performance seems good too. With the stock removed, it has a certain hand cannon look to it. On the other, I have my doubts about the practicality of it. A lot of it comes down to how fast you can change out the homemade shells and what the spread on a three-round load is. If the homemade shells are easy to reload, I'd be on board, since it could be used in much the same way as intended, but with better performance and less concern over shell loss. Also, given that there are 3D printed shells available that fire mega darts, I figure the build could be modified to chamber megas, though given the thickness of pipe needed, I can't be sure. Thoughts? I have a hunch that the volume of the plunger is larger than that of the barrel, even at that length, which by my reckoning means wasted air. A mega dart may be able to make better use of that. I am now finding myself tempted to do a cosmetic modification to make this look like the Thumper from Tribes: Ascend, and having the larger dart would add to that feel. Also, the Sledgefire does look like the Thumper quite a bit.
I have a little problem with my Sledgefire. I once accidentally, yes, accidentally, dropped it down some stairs. From there on out, the AR has been fucked up. how do I fix it?
+FoxyBanana Lots of good options, but we feel the Sledgefire is an easily do-able mod and give you a lot of experience with several important modding skills, like AR removal, spring replacement, and custom barrel cutting/fitting -R
+Make.Test.Battle Oh, ok. Thanks for your reply :). I just though that the jolt is good, as it it goes wrong (which is very difficult), it's cheap to get a replacement. It's also easy for the younger audience, as you just have to pul a couple of things out, and unscrew a few things, and you can replace the spring if you want even more power. Also, i've attempted to mod a Nerf N-strike Elite Alpha Trooper Cs-12, and as soon as i unscrewed it, all of the springs and machinery popped out, and it became useless.(I'm probably gonna glue some of the things on, and paint it. (So i can use it as a decoy, for holding mags) Anyway, I like this, i just like the sledgefire's 3-dart shot & shell system. But still, I just kinda like the streange & fun weapons, and prefer stock, unless the gun is REALLY under performing (Like if my Nerf Gun didn't shoot to far, like if i got a grey-trigger.) Anyway, thanks for your reply and input, i really love your videos, so i look forward to watching more in the future, man. :) PS: Have you/ do you plan on doing a lawbringer mod video, i really love that gun :) Thanks, -Oscar
FoxyBanana Yeah! Everyone does things differently. Im planning on doing a Retaliator/Modulus Recon guide soon. No plans for the Lawbringer as its just a case of "Put a bigger spring in" -R
Make.Test.Battle Yeah, but I think that you could try something. Maybe pu in the metal hammershot kit, as it's internals are almost identical. Anyway, thanks :)
I finally did this mod and wow! (i made a vid if you want to check it out) the only problem i have with mine is the 1/2" pvc i used was just a bit too tight, so its hard to get some darts in. i sanded the inside as much as i could and its a lot better, but i cant quite stuff several darts down there like i'd hoped
Is make test battle going to post more? I really love your vids and they are really high quality. I just wish I could watch your vids at least once a week.
+Make.Test.Battle Thank you so much. Can't wait to see more content. Also I have two more questions. When will the ugly stick video be coming out? When will the mtb rhinos be available for purchase? Thanks.
+luke otey What country are you in? If you're an American you may need to substitute for 1/2 inch PVC of some sort or another material like PETG, Brass, or polycarbonate. Different materials work best for different darts. -R
OOO! I wonder if this can fit a mega dart barrel... Any chance to see range tests and spread tests on this? aspecialy range for single, spread for triple load.
+LARPBeard Interesting idea; making a breach for megas is a little tricky but I know its been done. As for range tests etc; expect to see something far more useful soon! *mysterious* -R
Actually the first nerf gun you should buy if your getting in to modding is the LONGSTRIKE. If you want to start brass tubing you should start with the sharpfire.
The propellant in your "plastic safe" lubricant is NOT plastic safe. All sprays are bad. But you can use the contents just fine by spraying into something like an emptied model paint jar and waiting a few minutes for the dissolved propellant to disperse. This mod is almost exactly like the captive barrels a few of us did to make the old Buzz Bee Double Shot shell-less. I should see if I can dig mine out for photos.
Make.Test.Battle if I can't find the old side-by-side that I installed barrels into, perhaps I'll try one of the O/U blasters later this year. I somehow ended up with several, and honestly after such a conversion the old one was not terribad. It was mostly just fitting larger bits of tubing to both ends of a CPVC barrel (shorter than the shell barrels), so that it could move just like yours does, for a decent seal. The hidden piece just held it captive so it wouldn't pop out, but also helped align it so the darts didn't hit the faux barrel on their way out.
"How many kg" the spring linked in the description is ? I mean compression force Edit: I've more questions: are the diameter of pipes shown in the video internal diameter or external ? Is a catch and catch spring upgrade neccesary for this mainspring ?
i would like to request a vid on a vagabond mod.....saw off the front as the darts sometimes get trapped in barrel as it rotates right after firing..if you saw off the front it would make for a nasty pump action revolver!!!
how thick is that cardboard? using modded shells (stuffed playdough in 2 of the stock shell barrels) and taking the air restrictors out, im shooting through boxes with the vinyl tipped darts with that. oh.. and i added a spring to the ejector piece for full ejections.
I'm building a Super Sledgefire for Larp at the moment. But the problem was to get a fitting Silicon Seal from the Hardware Store. Thanks for the video, greatings form Germany ^-^
+Schmoller Hey mate! Any sort of soft sealing material would work; doesn't necessarily have to be a silicone rubber. Try in the section where they have toilet and sink parts. Can't wait to go back to Germany again -R
+Make.Test.Battle Just say when you are in Germany, then I can tell you if we have a Community meting of Blasted.de. The problem is that they all got a hole cut in them and its over 23mm which leaves me with an crappy seal. Funky foam works but the it gets destroyed/damaged way to fast.
I have a question I live in California and I am stuck on one part of this mod the barrel because I covered the mm of your barrel and the in side of my barrel is to large in side to hold the nerf dart in snug any suggestions
Is there a dart drag effect from the barrel here on the dart? I'm thinking of doing all the backend (air seal, AR delete, & spring upgrade) part but leaving the front end alone to use a Slugfire single shell so I can swap between 3 & 1 shots. Thoughts?
What other glue brands can you use instead of Selleys glue? Also is there a link to a parts list or no? I'm mainly interested in the glue and inlet valve
I really like the mod! However, it takes away the fact that the Sledgefire is unique triple shot blaster. Other people may disagree, but I will most likely use this mod guide to replace the spring and kill the AR.
+Kevin Watson (Kebifimtims) If you want that sort of performance out of a Longstrike you will probably need to go to an air tank based system... there may be a mod guide for that coming soon ;) -R
I had a friend of mine build this for me, using a brass breach instead of pipe, and some kind of liquid rubber in place of the silicone washer. It is definitely stronger, but I don't think it is as strong as it is in this video. I'm unsure as to how you got it to seal up as you did in the beginning of the video with your hand on it. Even after lining the O-ring area with tape I can't seem to pull that off. Any advice?
Because the package comes with two spring, I put the second spring in an otherwise stock Sledgefire, I don't advise it. The darts actually shoot less far, because the AR is actually kicking in earlier.

Yep!

1/2 in cpvc should serve you well.
Thank you guys for modding my favourite blaster if you have anymore ideas for the sledgefire please publish the idea👍🏻👌🏼

I'm from the states and even US conduit works. Thanks for the idea!
I just used your recommended spring to upgrade my sledgefire, awesome video! Thank you!😁👍

Nice colored darts, Christmas colors and rebelles
I just bought one. I’m going to mod it just like you did.
Finally somebody shows how to change the spring
How can I remove the ars with out cutting the hole because I want to keep the tri shot but I can’t with cutting the hole
I don't know what gorram "hook" you guys think is there for that spring to be seated into - shredded my fingers trying to fir the C836 spring into wherever it's supposed to go and almost snapped the bar in half.
PLEASE make Retaliator or Hyperfire and Strongarm Mod guides.
Ok. Working on a Turbo Advance Mod at the moment.

omg as soon as he took his hand off the barrel my phone notification went off

my first mod is removing locks from the stryfe and also removing ar from a hammershot
how powerful of a spring will fit in the blaster, and not break anything?
YOU GUYS AND YOUR CHANNEL ROOOOOCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!
Any chance of an update to cover different barrel materials for different darts? Would love to make a barrel suited to Accufakes.

I have a question I live in California and I am stuck on one part of this mod the barrel because I covered the mm of your barrel and the in side of my barrel is to large in side to hold the nerf dart in snug any suggestions
I will have to try this out
I think I have a lemon because mine doesn't seem to have a torsion spring ( the trigger oftentimes gets stuck ).
Yeah, I've had that happen too.
-Justin
About time :D
Is there a dart drag effect from the barrel here on the dart? I'm thinking of doing all the backend (air seal, AR delete, & spring upgrade) part but leaving the front end alone to use a Slugfire single shell so I can swap between 3 & 1 shots. Thoughts?

+Kevin Watson (Kebifimtims) If you want that sort of performance out of a Longstrike you will probably need to go to an air tank based system... there may be a mod guide for that coming soon ;) -R
Awesome! I love the shell, but the performance is CRAP
dude those fvj darts are fucking terrifying
I've been out of nerf for a while but damn do I wanna make this
any chance you could post a link to the washer you used, my local hardware stores don't seem to stock it.
love the vids and guides

i am so going to do that with my christmas money
Yo where can I find that washer?!?!?!?
I used a stock sledgefire with thumbtack darts *not the pointy side* and it penetrated cardboard
This video is the only reason I own a sledgefire
+Cameroon Churcher :,D Thats what we want to hear -R
Instead of using a barrel made entirely of conduits. Could I use a 3D printed shell with a conduit?
HAMMERSHOT MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD GUIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PLEASE MEN!!
what can you do to a hammershot? switch springs and youre ready
Break action hammershot with removeable cylinder!!!
Jacob Stephenson that’s going to be really hard
I had a friend of mine build this for me, using a brass breach instead of pipe, and some kind of liquid rubber in place of the silicone washer. It is definitely stronger, but I don't think it is as strong as it is in this video. I'm unsure as to how you got it to seal up as you did in the beginning of the video with your hand on it. Even after lining the O-ring area with tape I can't seem to pull that off. Any advice?
Can you make a version of this that keeps the shotgun firing and shell action?
