I did this last night with mini wine bottles and a saphire blue food coloring. The body and neck of the bottles came out gorgeous, but the bottom was a light blue (like your small orange jar). Now I know what I did wrong. I didn't turn them upside down to drain out. Thanks for the video and tips.
You are welcome. I would love to say that I am smarter than what I am but I did honestly learn that from trail and error. LOL. Thank You for watching. I hope you enjoy your bottles.
I tried this on a small mason jar that had strawberry jam in it at one point. Then, I tied seaweed colored jute in the form of a fishnet. Then hot glued shells on some of the knots. Next, I put in small stones that I got at a craft store and used it as a q-tip holder.
I like your video the best! I am going to try this because I want to make them into "fairy lanterns", some with fairy cutouts, some with Halloween cutouts on the inside, then I want to light them up and decorate the jars. Thank you for posting this. Let me know if you have any other crafty ideas. I love this video.
Have you tried pouring candle wax into them and using them as a candle after they’re painted? I get the oven part is going to he set The paint but if you’re burning a candle in your jar how will the candle affect the fit paint.. Has anyone tried it to see? You mentioned candle in the video but I didn’t know if you meant just kind of sit when inside or actually turn it into a jar candle which is what I.C.E. and Mason interested in
i know this is old, but hopefully i get an answer... I have blue glass vases , im wondering if i can with this process change the blue to another color??? or only works in transparent glass??
A cold oven means that the oven is not on when you put the jar in. Then you turn it up to 250 degrees F. and dry it until the jar becomes clear. This you just have to watch as air humidity will change the drying time.
I have tried and tried and tried.........and your oven method which works fab, but i always get dribbles at the side of the wine bottles that I am staining.what am I doing wrong? Im ready to throw them across the kitchen, thanks
Air drying upside down for an hour or two then moving to the oven still upside down helps beat this. It is not perfect but it limits the streaks. I hope that helps. Thank You for watching.
I see no reason why that would not work. I would just test it to make sure it doesn't permanently stain everything that it touches. Thank You for watching.
I ended up getting bubbles at the bottom. I didn't shake them & I thought I let them drain long enough before putting them in the oven. What did I do wrong?
If the bubbles are on bottom that usually means that mod podge was too thick. The easiest way to deal with that in the future is to blow on the areas where there are bubbles to break them before the drying starts. Sorry to hear about that.
Hi! Your DIY tips have traveled to Rio de Janeiro! Thanks a lot! The plastic bottles were open air dried? I mean, not at the oven, sure. PS: Mod Podge would be the same as PVA glue?
That is really cool. Yes. the plastic bottles were air dried. Even though I did think about putting them in the oven on very low for a few minutes. I did not. As far as I can tell PVA and Mod Podge can be used in the same way for this. Thank You for watching
Yes you could, but I will say that the heat could cause the color to fade quickly, so I would use batter operated candles more for this, but I have done this and it was fine. Thank You for the question.
this is simply the best diy videos i’ve ever seen before in my life

You are so adorable thank you. 🙏🏻
Thank You and Thank you for watching.
@CM Coleman Home you suppose it would be safe to put individually wrapped candy in these jars?
The only problem would be the candies scratching the paint. It would quickly wear down. Thank You for watching.
8/29/2020 love your video. Just what I was looking for. 💛🌻
Thank You for watching.

Yes, That would work wonderfully. Thank You for watching.

I can say the heat does fade the color faster. Thank You for watching.
i know this is old, but hopefully i get an answer... I have blue glass vases , im wondering if i can with this process change the blue to another color??? or only works in transparent glass??
In theory it should be just like over lapping color. A strong yellow with the blue should go green. Thank You for watching.
Thank you sir you solved my problem thats brilliant
You are welcome, Thank you for watching.
Cute!
Thank You
great video!
Thank You
I want to color the outside of the jar, so I can use as flower vases or just to put in sunny windows. Will this method work for outside the jar?
Yes, you can paint the outside. The sun will fade the color, but the method will work. Thank You for watching.
@@cmcolemanhome how long it takes to dry under the sun ?
Can u please explain to me what is the cold oven and dor how long should bake in the oven??
A cold oven means that the oven is not on when you put the jar in. Then you turn it up to 250 degrees F. and dry it until the jar becomes clear. This you just have to watch as air humidity will change the drying time.

thank you for the kindness of replying
I want to make a blue glass bird black, can I coat it on the outside and do that ?
You can however you need to be careful that the color does not get peeled away or scratched off. Thank You for watching.
CM Coleman Home: recipes and lifestyle thank you! Great video and channel by the way.
Thank you! Subbed!
Thank You and Thank You for watching.
im going to try this using drops of rit dye....
I see no reason why that would not work. I would just test it to make sure it doesn't permanently stain everything that it touches. Thank You for watching.
@@cmcolemanhome yw!! it worked pretty well!!

Can I put food inside like sugar?
Unfortunately no, This is just a decoration. Thank You for watching and commenting.
I did this last night but without water and it didn't come out so good...looked at other videos and they said use a little water. What do you think?
I did not like the water method as it did not look all that great. I like the method that I used. Thank You for watching.
If you want to change the color, pour a little Windex in the bottle and it peels off effortlessly😁 Hope this helps everyone😁
What a great idea. I have just pealed it out before and washed it out but that is wonderful Thank You for sharing.
Can you put water in it for flowers or will the mod podge get gross?
The mod podge will get gross after awhile. Thank You for watching.
Do you think you can add glitter also or would it not work 🤔
If glitter were applied on top I am sure that it would work. Thank You for watching.
Are this jars safe for drinking or to use as food containers?
There are for decorative purposes only. Thank You for watching.
What about candles?
Yes you could, but I will say that the heat could cause the color to fade quickly, so I would use batter operated candles more for this, but I have done this and it was fine. Thank You for the question.
