    Im pretty good at building things, so i came here to learn tinting, but for painting any project wouldn't it be best to mix the paint thoroughly before it hits the jar so you have perfectly mixed paint to apply, just a thought.

    see the blob on the blue one you are supposed to do them upside down first so you don't get a big blob on the bottom of the jar then turn them over and put them back in the oven

    I HAVE A SET OF MASON JAR DRINKING GLASSES THAT I WANT TO TINT TO A SMOKEY BLACK. BUT, ALL THE VIDS I'VE SEEN ARE FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES. ANY IDEA WHAT TO DO FOR ACTUAL DRINKING/SERVING PURPOSES?

    What if you want to use it as a drinking glass? Is this method safe to then have people drink out of it? Also will the color stand up to dishwasher use?

    How do you stop the running lines after it comes out of the oven? It streaks the whole jar

    When you say preheat the oven at 225, do you wait until it reaches that temperature before putting in the jars, or do you put them in the oven when it has reached the desired temperature?

    • @Thecarystore
      @Thecarystore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mitch! Good Question! Our instructions call for waiting until the oven is preheated to 225 degrees before they go inside. It is good to leave them in there for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on when the jars become completely dry and the glass is transparent. Hope that answers your question!

      walt hazard I ended using some glass craft paint I had from years ago (made a stained glass effect) I painted it on the outside & then sprayed it with a clear sealer. That process worked much better!

    • @JudiChristopher
      @JudiChristopher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes... because you should put the jars in a COLD oven first...
      then dry the jars in the over at a low temp 200* for 1 hour
      ... leave them in until the oven is completely cooled down (about 1 hour).
      what you're doing is drying the paint, imbedding the paint onto the jar.

    are these washable once baked?

    • @Thecarystore
      @Thecarystore  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In our experience they are mainly for decorative purposes. The finish might wear off if washed. You would probably be able to clean the outside of the jar as long as it doesn't have the finish on that side.
