When you think about, Kaine had the right idea when he built the Allignment. Find a secure location outside of the enemy's immediate radar, fortify it, and then take your time to build up your strength until you are able to effectively fight the enemy on an even playing field. Pelleaon had the same basic idea when he created the modern Imperial Remnant, aside from the initial Orinda campaign. If only the council of Moffs hadn't botched it in 19 ABY, the Imperial Remnant would have had far more than 8 sectors worth of territory at the start of the Yuuzhan Vong war, and therefore more military and economic resources to contribute to the conflict.
Thrawn would love to have Kaine on his side if Kaine chose to support Thrawb’s campaign.
But not to worry. The Imperial Remnant ended up gaining more power and weakening the New Republic’s power under the reign of Jagged Fel.
Botched it in 13 ABY, rather?
@@chrissonofpear1384 been awhile since I read the essential guide to warfare, all I remember is that the final nail in the coffin for future military campaigns against the new republic was the campaign in 19 ABY, after which Pelleaon officially signed the treaty with the new republic after wrangling in the council and becoming official Supreme commander.

I still think Zsinj was the most, perhaps too successful Warlord. He was so powerful the New Republic and other warlords wanted him gone. But Allston's characterisation made him one of the most complex characters of the Legends' lore. He was an authoritarian but not a tyrant. Loyalty for him was a two way street and he gave loyalty and affection to those who showed it in return. He never expended lives lightly and mourned the loss of his men. In brief, he was an Imperial leader many would not have minded. Many officers who followed him like Melvar seemed to regard him as someone who would have rebuilt the Empire the way they always wanted it to be. He was more of an antagonist than a straight up villain as the New Republic vs Zsinj was more of a light grey vs dark grey conflict.
Zjinn also didn't punish his officers for failure if it wasn't their fault. I thoroughly enjoyed the Zjinj books and the characters in it. And while he was assuredly evil (or just morally lacking in his experimentations, alliances, and desire for power/control,) he probably would have been a fine galactic emperor. At least compare to Palps, Pesti, or Ysard, or a few others.
So. He sounds just like Thrawn.

Turns out that the trick to doing well in the imperial civil war iiiiss: not... really... participating. At all. Participating even got the dude killed.

I think the fact the Pentastar Alignment would become the bedrock of Roan Fel's Empire, with Bastion as it's capital, speaks volumes about Kaine's foresight.
Whenever I play Thrawn's Revenge the first post Endor faction I choose is always the Pentastar. Idk why, maybe it's because they're financially strong and that their chosen territory is in a corner er... something.
I like playing the Kaine approach of building up and just taking planets closest to me, then sitting back and shoring up my economy while harassing nearby fleets. While everybody else is killing themselves, really cool faction. I like that Kain is also a negotiator, not just outright brute force, no wonder Palpatine trusted him the position of Grand Moff of the Outer Rim after Tarkin.
Honestly I do the exact same thing. I try and only have 4 to 5 planets as entry points into my territory. To harass other planets and also as a roving force, I typically use a fleet of 6 venators, 2 isd II, and 1 isd I along with a bunt of smaller support ships for anti fighter, interdiction, and anti missile. It’s really flexible with the good amount of fire power in the isd’s while making up for the lack of fighters, interceptors, and bombers through the use of the venators. I heavily use raider corvettes for anti fighter and anti missile. I can’t impress that necessity of anti fighter and carriers. It keeps my fleet alive and fighting. Anyway Pentistar is a really good faction and is worth a play through.
My favorite Imperial Warlord faction. The PA had the resource heavy worlds of the Cassander sector along with the shipyards of Jaemus, Ord Trasi, and Yaga Minor. They were set up to last a long time.
To bad the Imperial Remnant could not hold onto the entire Pentastar Alignment in the aftermath of the final Imperial push in +17.
A very interesting video. Corey sounds like a very knowledgeable guy.
On a side note, I really like the Thrawn's Revenge mod for Empire at War and I think its the best mod for the game out there. So, thanks Corey for making that wonderful mod.

Thrawn was the greatest warrior in all the galaxy, Ackbar the greatest military leader, but neither of them could play politics.
Revan had all three roles. His greatest weakness was having Malak for an apprentice.

Both Thrawn (and Revan) are overated pet characters frankly.
@@minicle426 Revan is overrated in a practical sense I.e. strength in the Force and strategic competence, but he is an extremely consequential figure in Sith history. One of the biggest inspirations for the Rule of Two
Ackbar was good enough in politics to cement Mon Calamari as Rebel stronghold.
It’s funny I’m playing as this faction in thrash’s revenge and I can’t wait to finish it because it’s so much fun. I just appreciate how it uses weapons and vehicles from the clone wars. I recommend it 10\10

I believe he courted his support, but Kaine was very standoffish about that, and sent only some Destroyers in support (see the Essential Guide to Warfare and other sources)

Yeah. Aside from Thrawn and Pellaeon, Grand Moff Ardus Kaine is another one of my favorite imperials. I play the Pentastar Alignment on Empire at War: Thrawn's Revenge. He picked a great spot to set up his empire after Endor in the game and in Legends. Lots of planets and resources, and far away from conflict to prepare for invaders coming after him or vice versa.
Witch hunts, propaganda, slavery, institutionalized racism/speciesism. Yeaaaah... "good."

The way Kaine went out is literally carbon copied from World War Two when the US Navy used p-38 Lightning fighters to shoot down Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto's transport plane.
I’m playing as the pentastar right now, and it’s going well, eriadu authority is kinda dominating at the moment
If I was an Imperial leader, I would have TIE Defenders and TIE Intercepters as my primary fighters and build a new and more powerful ISD
I'd say full put your lighter tonnage fleet, frigates destroyers and cruisers that will be better against Rebel and New Republic raids. Keep the Star Destroyers but don't use them as a do it all ship.

I'd keep my small fleet to myself and stay in the shadows growing my power by hanging back in unexplored or forgotten worlds. I'd begin production of the TIE Hunter and TIE Avenger, AT-ST Mk. II, Stormtrooper Mk. IV Armor, and a new resource efficient but formidable capital ship that'd give The New Republic's Nebula-Class SD's a worthy challenge 💀

Could you mind telling Corey to add Kamino in thrawns revenge and have clone troopers buildable. Like maybe have a certain building you have to construct to be able to make them. I just think it would be really cool and a bit fitting as imperial warlords were scrounging up whatever they could get

@@chrissonofpear1384 to my knowledge no. He definitely swore allegiance to Kaine, Reborn Palpatine and the Prophets of the Dark side to steal resources from each while only truly serving himself. He might have had some loose ties to the Authority though to ensure they didn't attack him
You should work with Corey to make similar videos on all the playable Imperial splinter-groups in the SW:EaW mod he's part of.

How much of a clone would the Republic replace before cutting their losses? Or for that matter, how far would the Empire, or the First Order go to replace the limbs (or bodies) of their troops?

What if the UNSC had never researched the spartan 2 or mjolnir programs. However one month after first contact with the covenant the UNSC INFINITY and her escort fleet of Autumn class cruisers appear at earth through a wormhole. The ships are fully operational and have manuals detailing how all ship systems, such as shielding and more advanced slipsace, operate and also how to build them for other ships. However it goes not have the spartan 4s. How does this affect the human covenant war? Does humanity win or lose? #askeck

Can the UNSC and the Covenant survive and beat the Angel Zeruel from Evangelion on Earth when the Covenant first attacked? The first order is just imperial remnant with better technology. So they have better armor, weapons, troopers, capital ships, starfighters, and droids. So first order would win most battles if the two went to war.

What is the most recent canon explanation of how the Rebel Alliance came to acquire and use X-Wings against the empire?
It seems to be largely the same as the old one, but with more of emphasis on picking up already sold X-Wings rather than prototypes, due to the Empire's general lack of interest in the design.
Meaning many seem to end up either secondhand, with local worlds, or stockpiled as possible unsold surplus.
Corey is full of knowledge, but his narration abilities are not on the same level sadly. He's improved since he started, but it's still got a ways to go.
