- Erika and I are late heading back to the Carnival Breeze and we take in the sights of Venice at night as the ship sails away. Unfortunately we sail away from Venice missing two passengers.

We were actually back before the back on board time. But I wanted to create a little more drama for you. Check out the video about the Rossi's who were late getting back to the shop on every port we visited.
Also if you ever have the opportunity to do a Mediterranean cruise do it! You won't be disappointed.
If you’re late for a flight, the jet leaves without you. Why do cruise passengers feel the ship should be any different and wait for them?
Agree. And planes don’t have 1,000’s of passengers aboard. So, cruise ships shouldn’t be extending long wait times beyond the scheduled departure times. If this couple was the 4 out of 7 times late, good for the ship in leaving them behind. They abused the time to be back on ship. They believed I am sure based on previous port stops they will just wait for them. So they don’t care if they are late. Cruise line did the right thing. Hope they are ban from cruising for like 5 years on the cruise line.
We are always on the ship no less than 2 hrs before the posted departure time. No exceptions. Plus no lines or hassles anywhere. I respect the value of my time as well as others. Being late is disrespectful and rude. I avoid such circumstances. Yet another reason we always request a dinner table for 2. No reason to wait for people that cannot read a watch to arrive before we receive menus and wait again to order. Same re dessert menus.. Their rudeness aggravates me. Rather than put myself in those situations I find ways to avoid them.
If you cannot read a watch feel free to stay home. When appx 2,000 people can be on time - why should we wait?

Don't forget the Alfaros. The uploader had a previous video where the cruise director was mad at the Rossis for being late (again!) and mentioned the Alfaros who were also late. At the end of the announcement, the director grumbled "I give up!" LMAO!

The irony of making a video about other passengers being late back on board while you are also late back on board.

Damn The Rossis tardiness is legendary. I've heard mentions of them from 3 other videos by 3 different channels. You'd think that after the first time, they'd learn to manage their time better.
I can't believe nobody has been able to post a picture of them on TH-cam. You figure by now that someone would know what they look like. They certainly DO exist as three(!) different travel videos have been posted about their constant tardiness. Someone should have a meme of them by now!
He say's we are a few minutes late so we are hustling!?!? At that point you were 10 minutes late via your watch and you call that hustling..... Shit man ... Someone needs to workout more!

I know this is an old video, but I have to say, this is John Heald being John Heald.
We were on the Carnival Dream in the Med in 2011, and John was our cruise director. Every single port the Rossi's were late getting back to the ship. I think this is John's way of reinforcing that you really have to be back to the ship on time.
I bet, since posting this video I have heard that was part of his skit.

I was wondering that too! I watched a video lastnight about this same Rossi couple being late and they were going to lock them in the cabin for he remainder of the cruise.
Enjoy your videos. I have been to Venice twice. It is beautiful! It is easy to get lost. Glad you made it back to the ship. Hope you record more of your travels after the pandemic.
When I go on my Cruise this month am going to make sure I get to the ship on time.

Always set your watch to ship time. Never alter it.
Some devices automatically change to local time so beware.
Always...always go by SHIP TIME when in port. When they say be back at 4:00 . Get your bags of souvenirs and head for ship at least an hour or hour and half. Better to be early and relax “on board”. 🌴🌺🍷🎼🌞
hate it when people dillydally back onto the ship. be curteous of the other passengers. the ship needs to go, don't hold it up.

This is why your charges and rates go up for passengers. When people are late coming back to boat and ship has to remain waiting for your late behind, the Cruise Ship is being fined for extra time in port.
Venice is a terrible place to miss a cruise ship since there are no actual roads around the main area of the city. If you can't find a water taxi, you have to know your way through the enormous maze of bridges and back alleys. I didn't want to miss my train when leaving so I took a water taxi back to the main square and RAN like my life depended on it. I got to the train early but then a huge traffic jam halfway to the Swiss/Italian border held up the train for over an hour. The cruel vacation gods had it in for me that day!
PS: were the permanently late Alfaros on this cruise? LOL... :D
The Rossi's will be blacklisted from cruising Carnival - mark my words.
Then they’ll just do the same to the next cruise line.
I'm pretty sure their names are going thru the cruising world, I don't know if anyone will take them. Maybe they can get a kayak trip.

People who are habitually late on a cruise should be reprimanded by the cruiseline and put off at the next port,and put on a NO CRUSE LIST

Reprimanded, yes. Put off, no. But I've heard late cruisers being confined onboard at ports of call. That's gotta hurt.

Hey being late once compared to the Rossi’s is nothing , your fine, don’t panic. If they left you for being late once compared to them then something is wrong
In Venice, passengers who are left behind are put into kitchens and made to empty garbage and wash dishes until the family claims them.

I’ll give this to Disney: they’re insanely expensive but at least they stick to the schedule. If you aren’t on at exactly the specified time, you’re left behind. No waiting for stragglers.
They should put it in the booking terms and conditions that if you are late back to the ship then you are banned from going ashore at any future ports of call. The only exception being that if you are on a cruise organised shore excursion.
If you read the fine print there are a lot of rules that give the cruise lines options to enforce similar rules in situations like this.
Now I know what to take when I see this guy showing off his Pepsi. I’ll add it to my collection.

Visiting cities like Venice, Rome, Barcelona, et al, as part of a cruise makes no sense. You really need to spend several nights in each to experience them. That said, if you’re going to be stranded, few better places than Venice.
Very true. We have done both but for some the budget will only allow a brief visit and a cruise is a nice option. Multiple places for one fixed price. Pros and cons with each option. I agree though, spending extended periods of time at each location is the best!
This is why I would be totally afraid to book an excursion that wasn't through the cruise line.
Yes you tend to pay a little more, but the peace of mind is worth it.

I've walked the streets and bridges of Venice. It is scary how easily one can get lost in there. Everything looks the same except for the mini-palaces. And the crowds of tourists don't help either!

Why would anyone get back late, what do they have in the port so much. That's why the cruise lines give you so much time to venture out. You'll be safe if you book excursions through cruise lines, as if you are late, they'll wait.

@@AlexErika My sister is treating me to a cruise when she recovers from surgery. We haven't decided where to go yet or which cruise line. We are in New Zealand so it costs a fortune to fly anywhere to catch any cruises to Europe. I hope we can go to Venice.....

Not that I'm aware of. Unless you're on a cruise ship excursion they will leave you behind. I guess being left behind is the "fine" because you will have to catch up to the cruise ship at the next port of call at your own expense.

We were in Venice and it was overcast. Easy to lose your sense of direction. We actually made it back a couple minutes before the window they gave passengers.
Most of the time its entitlement on there behalf when people are on a cruise
@@AlexErika Why cut it so close? I always plan to be back onboard 1 hour PRIOR to boarding time to assure I'm back ON-TIME!! Rather be on the ship an extra hour than have to run to it because I'm late!!
when you go on a cruise, you are given a time that the cruise ship wants you back on board. its usually 30 minutes before the ship leaves. so lets say the ship is leaving at 730, they want you back on the ship by 7 just to make sure they have everyone. if you are 10-20 minutes past the back on board time, you are still fine as the ship is still not leaving for another 10 minutes but you will be whistled, pointed, laughed, screamed to run and other things by every person from your or another ship that was on board before you that is looking at you.
If you are late, it is not fine. You are just not very considerate.

Like I said, the ship doesn't actually leave until 730 so if you are getting back to the ship at 710 or 720, you still have 10 minutes before the ship is actually supposed to leave. This is of course the regular time. If book a shore excursion thru the ship and it gets delayed, the ship will wait for you.
Was it the Rossis that missed the departure( am I bad if I hope it was?) how rude to always be late!
Never forget to take Your passport, Your mobile, Your credit card and Your money with You when you leave the ship!

I hope that the two persons that were left behind had their passports & reach home safe. So many people taking pictures of the ship & passengers taking pictures of the sceneries. It's fantastic.

Roll call when going back on board? Or roll call like a meet up group? Tracking passengers is now all done with hair your key card and by computer.
@@AlexErika ---carnival scanned my card when I arrived back from my ship sponsored excursion. It was late due to someone dillydallying back to the bus(maybe 5 minutes late but it did hit traffic for about 15 minutes. Still, on board, the speaker kept asking if the Burns were on board since they were not scanned back in.

Gee, many other posts tell people to get a watch. This guy shows us his Rolex and he's still late. Must be a fake. My own (real) Rolex always has me on time for the ship.
Ha Ha it's real. I've had it for 25 years now. In hindsight I actually wouldn't have shown the watch if I was editing the video again.
Also I rarely travel with this watch anymore. Especially in Europe, the additional attention is not needed.

Celebrity is very nice. We took aqua class as my husband has food sensitivities and the restaurent Aqua guests only go to was able to accommodate him.

That actually takes effort. The Rossis are always ALWAYYYSSSS late! This couple posted a video once of the cruise director roasting them on the PA system, noting that they had been late coming back from every single excursion the ship took!
Unfortunately we sail away from Venice missing two passengers. unfortunate for who, all the passengers ontime who followed the rules or the two who cant be assed to follow the rules.

We were well within the 30 minute window to be back on the ship and that window was the same window that another dozen passengers returned in.
I am utterly baffled as to why passengers show late for departure timers. I'd love for the OP to explain why he thinks its okay to get back onboard 45 mins late. Why? What is your thinking?

I will be taking my first cruise this year, and all my Shore Tours will be booked through the Cruise Line. I realise that is the more expensive option, but at least it's the Cruise Line's fault if I'm late back at the Ship.

Go at list for9 to13 days and go on Celebrity RCCL OR HAL

Syb Badger my family call it a boat also, just to piss people like you off lol We started with calling it a boat on our first cruise and by 2nd day we were calling it a ship, I accidentally slipped up and said boat and some rude person messed with my cruise mojo and snapped at me with a loud snobby voice(rolling their eyes) and said, “obviously this is your first cruise, on a CRUISE SHIP, SHIP, not a Cruise Boat, ok, it’s a ship” all while I was relaxing in my sundress and flip flops with my “cruising vaca zone” kind of mentality having an umbrella drink midday, strolling in the sun on the deck and having a conversation with my 15 yr old son about him seeing a free dolphin at sea for the first time (his favorite). See, even after 9 cruises we all call it a boat just to spite. Well at first we did for the rest of that 1st cruise and when we got home, but when WE are cruising we go into our “cruising vaca zone” which is positivity, relaxing and all smiles. Just know that most everyone knows it’s a ship, not a boat, but no one cares, it’s not school, it’s not our job, we are not hurting anyone so...GET. OVER. IT.
