      Gregory Smith i think given that apparently they’ve been late at EVERY PORT, The Rossi’s are entitled to every humiliation possible, since they think they’re entitled to everything else, and if they aren’t there for it, I’m fully okay with their fellow passengers, inconvenienced by their selfishness, to know the Rossi’s think they are more special than them and make sure to make their lives hellish on board for the rest of the cruise.

      +Wisdom time, a veteran cruiser who takes trips once a year said this is more true than you think! He sometimes sees fellow passengers still slugging martinis in the local island bar when it's clearly time to grab a taxi back to the ship. Other times, they're still trying to hit every shop/kiosk on the island with only 5 minutes to spare. LOL.

  • @MrGunny2009

    • @coffeelink943

      kkitty44 I mean't do they send some sort of helicopter or another boat or something to send you back to the port? They can't just leave passengers stranded plus some islands don't have airports

    • @largol33t1
      @largol33t1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      They MIGHT book a ticket to get you off the island but you have to reimburse them! I've studied a few books on how to plan cruises and a lot of them have a very small window of error for delays but once the dock master says the ship can leave, they'll leave without you. And they'll tell you it was your fault for not being at the loading dock on time. If the airlines held back planes for late passengers, they'd all go bankrupt very quickly!

    The boat should just leave and leave it up to the late passengers to figure it out for themselves how to get to the next port. I only once took a cruise. My understanding was that the Rossi’s booked excursions directly with Carnival. When you book directly with Carnival, that guarantees the passenger that the ship will wait for you until you get back on the ship. My guess was that the Rossi’s did this, did their excursions, then chilled in the main tourists areas way too long and just returned back “when they feel like it” since the ship will wait for them anyway.

    This is very sad. I have always used Carnival and each time I have cruised with them they made it clear that ship does not wait and it did not. It was actually a little funny to be up on deck and seeing the late arrivals running down the dock thinking the ship would stop. I go on the Conquest in July and the Splendor in December. I will be quite ticked off if my time is wasted on people that can't follow simple rules.

    I could understand, if the last couple was late on a shore excursion. If booked through the cruise line, the ship has to wait for them, because that's how the ship knows they are not on board. However, if the couple had used public transportation or a shore excursion not affiliated with the ship, the ship would have left them. Another thing, I would like to point out, the cruise ship pays thousands of dollars for overnight port docking fees, if the ship waits, it doesn't cost extra (in the Caribbean), I don't know about Europe.

    • @burningblue1254
      @burningblue1254 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We would never overnight for a variety of reasons. Our ship schedule and speed is carefully calculated. Especially if we have a port day the next day. We have a slotted time setup to depart. If we are late, we can get fined. We lose our slot. We have a line crew on the pier to throw the lines, we have tug service and a harbour pilot lined up. In some cases we need low tide to get under bridges or high tide to give us more clearance on our draft.
      A huge reason is now the extra fuel to get us to the next destination. If we are scheduled for a port next day and we have to engage the 4th engine and increase our speed, we could spend an extra $100,000 in fuel. If we are a late arrival, the same costs for a late departure apply for a late arrival.

We can not go to those amazing places like Venice, Rome, Florence and Monte carlo on a time crunch because we like to see everything and experience the culture. If you are adventurous and want to see all the sights of the destination then a cruise is not for u. These cruise are meant to give u a taste of the destination, not fully immerse u into it. You can either go shopping, historical sight seeing, climb a volcano and see the countryside, NOT all of it....cost more but book a land vacation. If cruises ever offered 1 day and nite layovers at all ports then I'm down, until them I'll save the hassle of getting booed and not go on a cruise.
