The so called bands today have no idea how to make good music plus civilization was different then. I hitch hiked across the country and people picked you up and had no worries. Man I miss that music and those days.
Man I feel old! When this was taped, I was working for the Mass Army Guard as a medical crew member on UH-1's. Seven months later, I was hired as an air traffic controller. I am now retired and bumping 70 -- to all of you young folks out there, time goes faster than you think! I look at these videos now and reflect on who in them is now gone from this planet...
I saw them live in an outside concert '84 in Mass. No seating just walk around. I stood bout 10 feet from Greg at his piano. Best concert I've ever been to! I was fortunate.
No such thing as “Southern Rock”. If the Brothers, Skynard etc.. we’re “Southern Rock” then everyone above the Mason-Dixon Line is “Northern/Yankee Rock”? WTF?
Yeah, like the Dead, these guys come from a scene that was not about studios, but was about honing skills night after night in the clubs, live on stage.
Dickey plays the same way you would do the air guitar. He hits every note and chord hard and clean and he can keep it going on and on and its always so fresh....not every gig, but when he hits it hard on the nose...damn. Just listen to one way out 12/31/71 New Orleans warehouse... obviously i can name a ton more... Hollywood florida 73 in memory of etc...opening song and mountain jam....the dude is super natural. Top 5 I don't give a shit what anybody says. ...and he's cool, kind of outlaw. I really dig his grand ol Opry motif 😁
It’s beyond magical. I’m laying in bed groovin in the sheets wondering if my kids will ever appreciate this. I’m a jam band rat and I realize how special the whole band was. So tight. Rarely leaves the pocket. It’s a beautiful thing!
Amazingly clear video. It’s stuff like this that makes u tube worth while. As great as this looks and sounds, I wish the ABB would have thrown that “synth guitar” or what ever it was in the river. It doesn’t fit in with the rest of the sound. It’s around 1:40 mark
This is a Classic Master Piece. I like Classic Master Pieces. Classic Master Pieces are forever. Thank You Allman Brothers, band and family for this legacy of music. Hugs.
I miss Butch so much! He and Jaimo were the best drumming duo ever. Depression is a dangerous drug. I pray he was forgiven for taking his own life and is in the arms of God. RIP, Butch!
When I wanted to play Kiss solos my uncle Billy said - check out Betts, Steve Miller and Robby Robertson. He also said sometimes it’s the note you don’t play. Still the best advice I ever got
I met the lead guitarist from the Steve Miller Band back in the 80's. He was dating an older friend of mine's daughter and he was sitting right there in the living room with us -- how cool!
This is straight professional league fastball kick ass rock n roll right down your throat no chaser burning and lightning fire blasting everyone and everything in its path
I got to meet dickey Betts and his later years when his son was playing guitar with him for Great Southern signed one of my drum heads the whole band very nice man rest in peace Dickie I've seen you three times I've enjoyed every time be safe be peaceful
Goddam Dickey was ON FIRE here! One of the things I'm very proud of was getting to the Allman Brothers Band when Dickey was still with them...guess they won't be getting back together now. R.I.P. Gregg...you will be missed.
This was the band I saw the first time I saw them, minus the keytar, in Savanah GA. Same year, probably same leg of the tour. This is on fire and Dickey is in top form. I learned vibrato that night watching Dickey shake the strings so hard they broke! You had to see it live back then or not at all!
The best Southern Rock Band of the decade! There will never be another Gregg Allman! I saw them in concert, at least 20 x's & was never disappointed. They were as amazing in concert as they were on vinyl! R.I.P. Gregg Allman. I Love You Forever, as your legend lives on. Thank you, my Brother.🙏❤😘

When I was growing up in the 1970's, I wanted long hair like Gregg Allman. I was super liberal and looked up to my hippy Uncle. Nobody does this hair now, but it would be cool if some cool kids were doing this music. I want to teach children how to play rock and roll music like this. ABB is my go to music.I think they were better after Dickey left because both Warren and Derek are blazing good on guitar and slide and no fighting was reported in the band as was before. Dickey might have kept his cool if Duane had lived because he seemed to keep everyone focused on the music back then. I miss Duane and Gregg every day. What a great legacy these guys left, absolutely timeless music. Baddest players in the land....... So sad music will never be like this again....

I'm 64 now it's time for all three to get back together!!!!! Get over it I did!!
Sadly now it's time to say RIP Dickie, my life has been so much richer with these gentlemen in my life, thank you, rest easy brothers.👍✌️🌅
Ur exactly right!!
The most kickass piece of music in the history of music.
My favorite ABB song. It just IS right.
Tru that. If this doesn't move you there is something wrong with you.
Agreed
Dicky Betts is such a natural but also one of the greatest, I could never imulate his playing, God rest the Allman brothers.
This has got to be one of the last performances before this lineup broke up for several years. Awesome jam.
I saw them live in an outside concert '84 in Mass. No seating just walk around. I stood bout 10 feet from Greg at his piano. Best concert I've ever been to! I was fortunate.
GREG WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE SOUTHERN ROCK SINGER OF ALL TIME. NO ONE COULD TAKE HIS PLACE IN LIFE EVER..
I'm with you sistah!
Gerri LaGrange , truly a Rock legend! No one comes close!
Same here. Gregg will always be # 1 in my book. RIP Brother
Gregg will be #1 to me forever.
No such thing as “Southern Rock”. If the Brothers, Skynard etc.. we’re “Southern Rock” then everyone above the Mason-Dixon Line is “Northern/Yankee Rock”? WTF?
These guys were so tight... better live than many others in the studio
Damn skippy
Yeah, like the Dead, these guys come from a scene that was not about studios, but was about honing skills night after night in the clubs, live on stage.
You got that right 😮😢❤
The Toler brothers are often overlooked in ABB history, but they both could play and belong on that stage.
Yep of course, that's why they are there ...for sure
Absolutely, no doubt, one of Americas very finest bands of all time!
Mr betts is the heart and soul of the band deserves so much love and respect
A musical genuis

My thoughts exactly. Failed experiment right there. Poor Duane probably rolled over in his grave hearing that mess
I agree soooo much with you
It's hard to do a song better than the original artist but this band did many times. A tribute to their greatness.
This is a Classic Master Piece. I like Classic Master Pieces. Classic Master Pieces are forever. Thank You Allman Brothers, band and family for this legacy of music. Hugs.

They recorded live. Thy didn't cut tracks apart from each other. Watched a doc on the engineer. He set them up in a semi circle and let em rip.
This was Enlightened Rogue Tour. album came out in 1979.
finally got to see them live their last tour . best thing i ever done
after the original one, this is the best line up, without taking anything away from the others......
The greatest band that ever took the stage.
Dickie had the coolest guitar swagger ever !!!!!!
GREG ALLMAN IS THE BEST I EVER HEARD. AND THE BAND AWESOME.
Dickey Betts sure knew how to handle a guitar. I love hearing him on Allman Brothers music. He's superb.

seen them so many times...but still not enough.
The version on "Live at the Fillmore East," where Dickey and Duane trade licks, will never be equaled---but this was very good.
That version of One Way Out appeared on Eat A Peach, not the Fillmore East album, though it was recorded at the Fillmore East in June 1971.
