To add some context it was the Director of photography who said the first AVP was lit too bright Behind the Scenes, so that is why AVP:R is so so dark.
They can never find a middle ground can they. "Oh first one was too bright? Well instead of slightly lowering the lighting in order to convey a darker creeper atmosphere but still allowing the audience to see we'll just make the next one pitch black" swear most people in Hollywood don't deserve their jobs
I’ve seen a few ASD videos but I’ve just started watching some of these Wrap Up videos and have been really enjoying them. I’m appreciative of all the little touches done in editing. It probably takes a lot more time than people realize.
AvP films would always suffer from the need to turn the Predators into defacto good guys and it just doesn't work lol
I've always thought AVP movies should be set in the future with Colonial marines vs Aliens and then having the predator as a nuisance throughout the film culminating in the predator essentially being the final threat they need to take out.

I watch a lot of commentary, you guys are criminally underrated. I had to rewind a few times, especially that “ o, you didn’t have to do that.” Part had me in stitches. Or the showing Ridley Scott avp drunk. Keep up the good work, I would watch your wrap ups on all types of movies.
I remember feeling such dread when I watched Paul Anderson's AVP promo interviews back in the day.
So they go special effects brothers to direct AVP Requiem? NICE. They should also have gotten Directors to do the special effects, hire actors to do the writing, and hire writers to compose the musical score...*Yow-OOOH-CHA Kamboocha!

I remember when we had these weed brownies and watched alien vs predator.
That was my first contact with any alien or predator movie. And even how baked I was couldnt make up for the disappointment i felt. Took me years to find out that alien was worth watching anyways :D

I do not want to say AVPR is good because it is not, but it is exactly the bad I wanted from the film and I love it.
I will be in the minority and say that AvPR is very good when the focus is on Wolf hunting the Xenos, also the Disney+ version of the movie is lit better or maybe i'm imagining things. Anyway, great content guys, keep it up and hopefully there will be more Alien and Predator content!
24:40 His character in Trainspotting didn't have a horrific death. Spud was a heroin addict. He ruined his girlfriend's bedsheets by pooping in her bed, splattered his fecal matter all over the faces of her and her parents and their kitchen. That was less sufferable than AvP1.

AvP is so much better in concept without actually seeing it. The Acting was so Xenia Princess Warrior it felt like a Bad TV show with really great sets. And the Queen of Bad Acting like the Alien Queen of the future Mary Sue,... Predator & One Sequel. That's it.

I'll never consider these films canon (same with "The Predator"). As far as I'm concerned, they don't exist.

I just finished the Alien video and was looking forward to this one too but I really dislike the change in narration style and the video-gaming is annoying and distracting.
i find it hilarious that when you're talking about pronuntiation and you try to joke and say burrito badly you say as you actually should instead of the fucked up way english speakers say it

@@michaelrodriguez2829 Quite a lot of reasons. So this might take a while. Bare in mind, i watched the movie on the big screen where for some reason it wasn't nearly as unrecognizably dark as the home release. So that's already a big plus.
For one the first AvP was just a watered down version of the comics story. Predators come to a planet, leave Alien eggs to then be able to hunt the most dangerous prey as an innitiation ritus. When they kill one they get a scarred with alien blood as prove. The inexperienced Predators die and a woman helps the last surviving Pred so they do the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing and end up fighting a queen, where the Predator gets mortally wounded and gives the woman a scar so she will be recognized by other hunters. The female character isn't anywhere near as interesting as Machiko was in the comics. The Predator from the movie got nothing on Broken Tusk who is still the best Predator. It also was stripped of all the cool elements from the comics. No space, no marines, just some pyramid that couldn't settle on any specific style.
The worst offender is that the creatures got misshandled. A single Alien was able to kill two Predators in a row. And the Alien lets out some sort of victory roar. Everything about it seems off.
The enjoyment of the second movie hinges mostly on one thing: Can you accept it as a teeny slasher movie? I like my Nightmare on Elm Street, my Halloween, Friday the 13th and so on. And AvP2 even respects the monster. Going so far i'd say Wolf is the best Predator ever to (just about) be seen on screen. The way he manhandles two Aliens at the same time. Him not giving a damn about anything once he has the chance to go against the most dangerous foe possible. The Aliens with no sense of individually and just a swarm of death. It was the 6th movie in the Alien franchise, fourth in Predator. How were the other slashes at that point doing? Freddy Krueger was having some weird video game antics with a Nintendo power glove in Nightmare 6. Michael Meyers turned from cunning stalker to gory rampage in Halloween 6. Jason became a zombie who became a cyborg. AvP2 does a great job in respecting it's monster. If i watch a slasher i rarely ever watch it for the characters. I do so for the creative and gory kills. AvP2 got that en mass. And it has my 2 favourite movie monsters who feel the way they should feel. Don't watch it if you're in the mood for an Alien movie. This doesn't have the suspense, the tension, the great characters. Watch it if you're in the mood for a slasher flick. I accepted that when i watched it in cinema. And i loved it.
I am also an enjoyer of pitch black screens.
Too much bullshit and screen time about the video game. The films are what's important here, And I'm not even interested in Gaming. Why so much about them?
It pains me to see how much success AI generated content and channels get, compared to actual humans doing cool videos. Post 2020 TH-cam is just a nightmare to go through. The amount of deep fake stuff in there is growing bigger and bigger everyday, and honestly its sad and annoying.
Finally actual human voices 😁 This "world" is really doomed brothers... And its gonna get much worse, so brace yourselves.
