We'll be doing this repair this weeknd. New brake cylinders new brake rotors new brake shoes and new brake adjusters for both rear wheels yay so excited! Not! 😂 but I stumbled across your video and it will make everything a little easier for me I believe. Thank you for uploading.
Haha. My mom has a 97 f150 that needed a new brake line, wheel cylinder, and that nightmare spring assembly. Yeah, the spring assembly came apart while moving some time and got munched to heaven and when taking off both rear drums, the spring assemblies fell onto the ground. That was a golly nightmare. But I own a 96 SW2 and the rear brakes have a delay with way less grab. So thnx for video m8!
@@s33therfan Well I am back to share your video for both the front and rear helped me get the brakes done a 2002 SL2 done in about half an hour. Thanks. Weirdly enough the spring and lock pins were rusted but I was able to take them off and put them back on with just my fingers. The first spring I like to start with in the rear set, is the one that goes behind the shoes and under the wheel cylinder. From there I put the spring and pin locks in the shoes, then the last two springs regarding the spring assembly. From there I tune according to the drum and adjuster. Confident enough to say I can do brakes on my own now. Especially since I just did a full set on this SL2. Like said above I own an SW2, but this 02 SL2 is actually my moms car. It's a good car, and I just rebuilt it from it being front end damaged due to wrecking the day before Christmas eve last year. Rebuilding the front end, is both easy and hard. As you can imagine, that's why new brakes were needed, because there wasn't much there after that wreck. And I have diagnosed that my car only needs brakes. Full set. See with the aforementioned delay, it was the same way for this SL2 when I tested the brakes myself, however it wasn't as serious as my cars case. The reason for that being is the nutcase that owned my ride, drifted it in the snow last winter. Legit handbrake broken, drifting in the snow. Yea. Some people are stupid.
Your videos are very well explained, man, they are very useful to me because I have a 2002 Saturn SL2 car just like the one in your videos. Right now I have a problem with the car stereo because it doesn't work, but if it lets me set the time, what problem could there be?
on mine the holddown spirngs at 17:52 are so tight they expand over the top quarter turn keeper, anyone else have this prob? the new springs look identical to old but stiffer perhaps
i was just about to do this, and see this was uploaded only 9 days ago?!?! what are the odds. awesome stuff!

Great to hear , thank you very much for the feedback.
Excellent video
If the parking break is engaged, will it prevent the cover from opening?
It will keep the brake drum from sliding off. Thanks for the question.
A big help thank you
