At 8:10 I mixed up the direction to put the spacer on and threw it on backwards... don't do that haha. I also use this car primarily for drifting and rwd shenanigans which is why I switched the front and back wheels in case you're wondering. Thanks for watching guys!
Honestly I have no need for learning about spacers under 10cm, but man massive massive thumbs up for the content begins at 7:14. Those are information that save people's day.
I know I'm late but those little battery packs are really a life saver. I have a Dewalt battery pack and I'm able to jump my car, pump air to my wheels, charge my electronics, and also use it as a little generator for little things here and there. Its such a great investment everybody should have.
That doesn't really help, if you go into professional workshops they have extractors attached to exhausts even when the car is 2ft from the door. An open door doesn't extract gases.
Also you forgot to mention the hub has to be 72mm for bmw because some aftermarket come with 72.2-4 mm and this is okay but when your going over 70 you will feel a wobble as well as when you brake you’ll feel your steering wheel shake a bit👍🏼 love you videos man
I am new here and have hit the subscribe button,i learnt so much from you and appreciate the info you shared with us,it's relevant today just as it was two years ago! I hope you and yours are okay in these covid 19 trying times.
Great video dude. I just got a square set of style 24s 17x8.5j and i was wondering how much spacer I'd need to get to get the right fitment. I was wondering if youre running the same size wheels?
good info. need about 10mm on the rears of my E46 for that sweet sweet fitment. Will probably buy new wheels when i find some that have the right offset and look good, but spacers on the stock wheels will do the trick for now.
I need spacers for my new wheels but I wanna get spacers and bigger lug bolts but decided I should do lug stud coversion kit more cheaper in future as well
Just bought an e36 318i 95 hood latch is broke only got left passenger latch open need helping opening the right side, also what should be the first mods
thanks for the tips. just ordered 200mm spacers, looking for that super aggressive stance for my ford escort (it's got a wide body kit on it, so it can take it)
There is plastic/plate circles that you put on the spacers or the wheels so that the car doesnt wobble and that the wheels sit fit. I don't know if you guys have it or know about them. I think they are called centering rings.
The problem is those need to fit on the hub and isn't possible with longer spacers. I had hub centric rings on my Subaru when I got new wheels and they worked well for that though! The hub centric parts on the spacers take the place of those separate rings you're talking about.
Never seen those "hub extenders" before, good idea? one reason for wheels to be hub centric is the hub is meant to carry (80%) the weight of the car on those hubs primarily bolts or studs are not meant to carry the weight they're for holding the wheel to the car. So those hub extenders that are placed (pounded) into the inner race of the hub only have a 1/4" surface mating them to the hub how do you know they are perfectly parallel to the hub and there's no way they could support the car the way a true hub can Sure they probably work for normal everyday driving but sliding car around putting all the side forces on them as when drifting you're demanding a lot from that set up. Better to go without spacers especially when it's primarily for looks anyway. 5mm makes that much difference to you? True hub centric/wheel centric spacers are fine but that front set up is not confidence inspiring to say the least. Same is true for plastic hub rings which sadly has become the norm...there once was a time when a wheel fit properly to the car many of the younger generation have come to accept these inferior set-ups...mainly for looks not for strength or durability. There are options out there to get the wheel spacing you desire and true hub centricity it just costs more. How many race cars use wheel spacers?... go ahead flame on
These hub extenders were developed and used on VAC's company e36 track car. They have a lot of development and testing in high abuse environments. I called and talked to them on the phone before I bought them. I assure you they're all good 👌 haha.
I use the car primarily for drifting and rwd shenanigans. It is very common with that kind of driving to put wider wheels up front and skinnier in the back to get more front end grip and have the rear easier to slide. Not everyone builds their car for the same purpose, so for what I use it for I am certainly driving properly. This is explained in the pinned comment at the top.
I’ve never heard of swapping the rears with the fronts then fitting spacers?? Why would you do that? I live in the uk and have an E46 M3 but I bought different offset for the fronts so eliminating the need for spacers, people over here run std set up for ‘rwd shenanigans’ and normal fun driving or they go for a ‘square set up’ which is rear wheels all round. Also the drifters over here use a different rack to get a more aggressive steering angle to drift with, I guess that would effect the front tyre width?
Hi Gavin...I just put on some new KW V1 coilovers for my 99 M3 but now my front wheels are rubbing against the coilovers. I have a couple of questions for you. 1 is do you recommend putting spacers in both front and back? 2 is do recommend 8 or 10mm for the fronts? I have the standard 99 m3 forged double spoke rims. Thank you!
How much spacer you'll need depends on how much it is hitting. My tire was hitting the coilovers as well which is why I put an 8mm spacer up front. Any spacer less than 10mm and you'll need the VAC hub extenders like I have to center the spacer and prevent wobble at high speeds. Just because you have a spacer up front doesn't mean you need them in the back. I just did it because I wanted better fitment against the fender.
Nice set up. I would build a second level for your lounge so you can have more space and a better view. Also make a see through partition between your lounge and cars.
Would the hub extenders still allow for hub centric rings to work. Asking because I did a 330i brake swap on my e36 and I have style 5 wheels off of an e39 the center bore size is different and I need at least 8mm spacers to clear the 330i calipers
Great vid. I have a question hoping that you can answer. I got a 2015 countryman S All4 came with 17” oem rims but I didn’t like the alloy look. So I got the 2016 black 10 spoke oem 17” rims when I went try to put them on it didn’t want to fit since the center hub was popping out too much ( the piece that overlapped middle of the spacer you put on) what can I do to make it fit can you provide me with a great spacer mm to get cause I really like the rims I just bought from a outside seller and I don’t want to be stuck with them leaving them to collect dust.
i got 2001 e46 330ci the fACTORY OFFSET FRONT 8.5 ET40 REAR ET50 , I GOT SOME RIM 17 8.5FRONT OFFSET IS 30 THE Rear is 15 offset need spacer for them to stop hitting my break caliper what mm spacer do i need im not trying to get them to thick bc wheel around got the look i want need asap
That will kind of depend on wheel design not just offset when trying to clear calipers. You'll have to take a look and guess how big of a spacer you'll need. Might have to try a few different sizes
Nice vid and solid relaxed style. Any good resources for spacer setups by vehicle you know of? Would be nice to get it right given the committed nature of the purchase.
+D Wray's Garage thanks man. I think as long as you find a reputable brand and buy the right size you should be good. Unfortunately I don't know of one brand that makes them for every car.
Dude you saved me quite a few dollars educating me great video sad that these mechanics were charging me way over what I spent on purchasing the spacers with hub extenders. No shakes and now my e39 has been fun to drive 🖒🖒🖒
Aye brotha, I had to come back to this video. Had an e36 m3 last year and sold it this past winter. Thought my hope was lost but I just bought another one with 105k on it for under $7k! I got a question for you though, what size tires are you running on those stock style 23(?)’s???
You made a big mistake. The 8mm is supposed to have the beveled edge going towards the inside of the car. It’s beveled so it fits properly over the bevel on the hub itself
It does have a beveled edge on the side towards the hub. If you look at the pinned comment at the top, I mention how at one point I put it on backwards so although not on video, I took it back off and flipped it around lol.
With the setup I have my front would rub bad without camber. I have about 2.5-3 degrees of negative camber up front to stop rubbing and have a better handling setup.

Were they hub centric spacers? Cheap or good quality? If they were super low quality or if they were not hub centric they can throw things out of balance, similar to a tire needing to be balanced.

I wondered the same, glad you caught that. Love the rides!
Treats On The Streets. if I get hub spacers like the ones in the video for my e39, can I fit19 inch wheels on it?
Are you talking about the hub extenders or wheel spacers?
Dude, Don't let your car run in an enclosed space.
Honestly I have no need for learning about spacers under 10cm, but man massive massive thumbs up for the content begins at 7:14. Those are information that save people's day.

Putting smaller rim in the back is just dumb always have the wider rim in the back
Yeah I don't why he would do that
Great advice for anyone who is thinking of putting on spacers!
Thanks for the comment on hub extenders. That seems to be the piece that other channels / companies were leaving out on the 5-10mm spacer range.
They are hard to find online though. Any recommendations of where to buy them? I’m looking for Tesla bore size 64.1mm. Thanks!
No video was really helping me until I came across yours. Thanks for all the info and great explanation :)
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 👍👍
As an e36 328i owner, who worked as a Mercedes specialist, my dream car is a c63. Safe to say I found my channel
Shop safety bro. Carbon monoxide is the #1 silent killer. Let ur car run outside or have proper ventilation for ur exhaust fumes
+Yung Liquid the shop bay door was wide open lol. But thanks for your concern lol.

Well it looks like I made it out alive despite a terrible near death experience 😉.
lol, you have the same survival skills as Bear Grills. I dont use extractors in my workshop but I run e85 and get drunk of the fumes
E85 smells awesome

good info. need about 10mm on the rears of my E46 for that sweet sweet fitment. Will probably buy new wheels when i find some that have the right offset and look good, but spacers on the stock wheels will do the trick for now.
If you need to get extended lugs, especially on the e36 just get a stud kit. Makes changing wheels way easier and faster.
Are 8mm slip on wheel spacers too thick for your standard/typical stud length or will I be able to get away with it?
I'd personally go longer with anything over 5mm
Do spacers mess with the cars oem handling or ride quality ? Does it feel the same but looks better?
You came here for 3:30
Great video, timing was perfect for me as I’m changing my own spacer setup right now. Great content, keep it up!
+Ruben Alanis thanks man! Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
I want to put 19s on my car but how do I know what spacers to get? are all spacers for fitting larger wheels?

I need spacers for my new wheels but I wanna get spacers and bigger lug bolts but decided I should do lug stud coversion kit more cheaper in future as well
Does hub centric spacer/extended bolts cause premature wheel bearing failure still?
you need to change the suspension settings after adding spacer.
Ehhh kinda you basically change your offset by adding spacers
Great Video Man! Can't wait when my Arctic Silver Cabrio will be ready.
+naukjis nice!
Where did you get the 10mm hubcentric spacers? Thanks. Nice stance btw
Sweet E36 M3. I used to have one, but my ex wife kept it. LOL....Now I am looking for one. Wish me luck to find a good one.
Good luck!

Does the lip on the 10mm spacer have to go over the original lip on the hub, or does it slightly sit on it?
Thanks
No the flat side of the spacer goes on the hub
@@islami658 I know that, I mean, does the lip of the spacers sits partly on the original car hub, or is it meant to clear it?
Cheers
Nice set up. I would build a second level for your lounge so you can have more space and a better view.
Also make a see through partition between your lounge and cars.
Please can you show us how to take the hub extended out.
Wouldn't the lug nut conversion get rid of a lot of these issues?? It would at least save you the trouble of having different bolt sizes.

Yes because the hub extenders are the same diameter as the hub. If they'd work on the hub, they would work on the extensions
