  • Wheel spacers can fix wrong offsets, make room for big brakes, and potentially give more angle to drift cars. Here's what you need to know about wheel spacers for your FRS, BRZ, and 86.

    You're missing a critical point! Suspension. Wheel spacers can drastically compromise the geometry of the stock suspension. Suspension is meant to keep the tires on the ground in adverse conditions. When the stock engineering is altered the entire effect of the suspension could be compromised. It's not just about ride comfort, but rather the ability to stabilize the car in all conditions.

    2 things. Make sure the spacers are constructed from 6061-T6 Aluminum or better and the highest bolt density rating possible. Preferably 12.9. Pretty important for off-road vehicles at least. I run 1.25" hub-centric spacers on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and (fingers crossed) have not had breakage with those specs. Did a 4" lift and wanted extra clearance and track. Makes a noticeable difference in handling when lifted.

    • @georgegonzalez7552
      @georgegonzalez7552 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What’s the difference if you get hub centric and the regular spacers? I have a s10 with 3inch lift on 31s

    • @PCPAyLOAD
      @PCPAyLOAD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@georgegonzalez7552 Hub centric means the spacer sites snug around the wheel hub center. Not only does it keeps the spacer centered which it NEEDS to be, It adds more surface area and acts as a lip for the spacer to ride on and stay put so as you drive and metal expands and contracts, it wont move on you. Its the only type of spacer I would EVER use.

    PSA: 2002-2010 WRX non STI all run 5x100 not 5x4.5 (114.3). Also, most horror stories about spacers and adaptors involve purely human error during installation such as: 1)not checking original stud clearance at back of wheel when mounting to the spacer so the stud sits proud of the spacer and the whee cannot seat flush. 2) not properly torquing the spacer/adapter lugs to original hub and not using blue loctite on those. 3) going cheap and buying poorly made Chinese crap off eBay (no Chinese parts on any of my cars and they’re incredibly reliable, go figure). 4)taking measurements and educating yourself a bit about wheel offset, backspacing, clearances etc. and even consulting tables/charts that are free online about wheel cap stability ahead of time 5) following the instructions.

  • @CaptainChris69
    @CaptainChris69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Don't use 'FLAT' plate spacers or adapters. Use only 'hub centric'. The weight of the vehicle rests on the lug studs if you don't use hub centric. Also, if they fail, you are responsible for damage, injury, or death caused by your tire flying off. If you want to offset, the safest way is to buy offset wheels.

      The hub ring is there just to centre the wheel that's it .

    Thank you for sharing. I am planning to place similar wheel adapter on my 2018 Ford Fusion SE. I noticed that your wheel studs stuck out from the holes on the spacer. I have viewed several videos that say that it is bad for your wheel studs to stick out for the wheel spacer, because it keeps the wheel from sitting flat on the wheel spacer. I also viewed videos that show the wheel being installed with the original stud sticking out of the hole of the wheel adapter. How are they able to do that and keep the wheel flat against the wheel adapter?

      No, for big brakes you NEED spacers or they won't fit. Though the "blue edition" uses big brakes and DO fit, so you could buy those.

    I want to install spacers for my stock frs wheels but I’ve heard that they cause a lot more wear on suspension parts and/or they’re unsafe. Any of that true? Are they not worth it?

    In the rear i am on 225/45 tires instead of the stock 215/45. Is 25mm still recommended or should I go to 20mm spacers? Im looking for a flush look and i still have stock brz/frs wheels.

    • @weixie3459

      Mrawd Tuner 25 mm would be flush and you’d still have some room. I used to run 225 on stock rim with 25 mm spacer.
