“For routine crankcase cleaning, add Sea Foam to your engine's oil (into the oil filler neck) 100 to 300 drive miles before a scheduled oil and filter change.” Seafoam
How much in the oil filler? I’m due for an oil change. My 2008 Lexus is350 burns oil (it’s common on those cars), this couldn’t hurt to try, right? I bought the car used and it has 167k now.
Honestly, I have used Seafoam three times 200 miles before an oil change. This last time I did an oil change, I did not use Seafoam. Instead, I bought an engine flush solution from an auto parts store. I had never done it before, so I simply just followed the directions on the bottle (dump the whole bottle in the crankcase and run the engine for 10 minutes, then change the oil). When I changed the oil, I noticed just how much grit and carbon and other junk was in the oil (not present after using the Seafoam). I love Seafoam as a fuel system and intake cleaner, but I would definitely say that an engine flush is WAY more effective than just using seafoam (and it is also about half the price of a bottle of Seafoam).

@@chicagoforniahelladope Let tank get under 1/2 full. Go to gas station. Pour in the fuel additive with the right quantity for a full tank. Fill the tank. Drive. The incoming stream of fuel mixes the additive into the whole tank very thoroughly.
You're actually supposed to add it to a mostly empty tank, and then fill up with gas, per the directions. It doesn't really hurt to have more seafoam, but its meant more to slowly clean the Fuel system than all at once. I like to get 2 cans, suck a bit of one through a vacuum like, dump some into the oil, and add the rest of the can (usually less than half) into a gas tank that's about 1/4 to 1/2 full, run until I'm getting low, usually 100-200 miles, then change the oil. I'll then go to the gas station, dump a full can into the tank and fill it up. I run full synthetic oil and prefer to change it every 5k miles, but sometimes I let it go towards the 10k mile mark, and I like to give it the full seafoam treatment every 15-20k miles, as well as adding a can once a month to the gas tank. I've had had and sold cars that were still running good at 150k-300k miles. Might be other problems with them, but at least the engine and fuel system were in good shape. It is possible, if the engine wasn't taken care of, that the seafoam in the oil can remove some buildup and reveal a small leak.
For those that have higher mileage cars you really need to be careful when adding Seafoam to your oil. I added some to the oil in my 04 Rover and now it constantly smokes and I have a cylinder 1 misfire that will not go away. Seafoam works, just be careful.

The key to keeping the engine as clean as possible after a full seafoaming like this one is to change the oil afterwards. If you’re trying to de-carbon and de sludge and de-lacquer your engine, all that garbage ends up in the oil and filter. A full change and you’re good.

I love how clean your m3 is (e36?). That is a bit of a dream car of mine. 2 years into my career I had an opportunity to buy a very slightly used E36, or a very slightly used 968. I went with the 968, and I don't regret it. I wish I still had that car. But I also wish I had gotten E36. I'm going to look through your videos and see, did you find this car this clean? Or did you go through a restoration process? Honestly at this point I would consider buying an E36, but their prices have gotten insane. So I'm actually thinking about getting another 968, and then turning it into a modern monster. It wouldn't be restoration, it would be a sleeper. Looks like an old car, but it's hiding an LT6, lol. I raced the 968 back in the day, I got the goodie out of the car. I was working for gillet at the time, they made the exhaust for Porsche, BMW, Audi, BMW basically all the German Auto makes. So I did kind of make use of our prototyping and dyno facilities "after hours." Thought about throwing on a turbo, but that was such a different rabbit hole with so many more variables and complexity that I chose to stick with NA. Not to mention the internals weren't designed for that. Just thinking about it's making me nostalgic. You should look into a 968. Six-speed, 3L 4-cylinder. Big honkin four. Stock I think it was making about 230 at the crank, a bit under 200 at the wheels. Not much in today's terms. But no electronic nannies to keep you safe other than ABS. But working with the guys in Edenkoben, we got it to 270 at the wheels with simple mods. Funny story, we were prototyping the exhaust for the new 996 & the Porsche engineers worked with the edenkoben guys to Frankenstein a 964 with the 996 turbo motor. Roughly 400 hp in a chassis designed to take 250-300 at most. And 964s were known to be squirrelly before you double the hp. Not to mention they hadn't really smoothed out the tune on the engine yet, so all of the power showed up around 4000 rpm & up. We got to take it to Nuremberg for "testing" (don't crash, don't die). Being 25 and all stones no brains I pushed it a bit. Like riding a lion made of jello & teeth. Hang on for dear life & remember always more throttle. Would have been quick if I could have kept it pointing vaguely in the direction I was trying to go.
nicely done I recently bought a car that has over 200,000 miles plus on it I used can in my fuel tank I definitely seen the results in performance and gas mileage what I did wait till my gas was almost empty put some fresh gas in little bit of seafoam drover for a while and then did it again s*** work great but I definitely wouldn't put it in my oil and I did hear turbo engines it's no good but I'm no expert I definitely do some more research for which I think sucks because they're more acceptable for heat damaged that's why they stop giving him to the cops I'm definitely going to use the spray for the upper manifold and burn off some that carbon which I know needs it and I'm pretty confident it won't blast off massive chunks of carbon in destroy my engine but I think that's all I'll do is he upper manifold with the spray and then just use the stuff in the gas tank cuz I already had good results with that oh my God.

The smoke makes you think you’re doing something but it really doesn’t do much of anything but potentially damage your catalytic converter. I’d use it in the gas tank and that’s it. Regular oil changes is what cleans your crankcase. Solvent type oil additives or flushes can be risky for a engine that’s already dirty from lack of maintenance. If too much of that crud comes off at once it can cause major problems.

Great video for easy instructions ... One thing you forgot to mention though in the first segment around adding it to your fuel tank - you should add it when your tank is close to empty (or even 1/2) to ensure the Seafoam properly mixes with the gas.

+FuedOfJustice - Seriously! As I'm going to start making how-to-videos with everything I know how to do. For example, how to use a keyboard; how to make biscuits and gravy, and how to apply cocoa butter on your skin. ^o^
Mike G it’s what the people want 🙌🏽
Some people have a hard time following instructions. I, for one, do much better watching someone do something rather than reading instructions.
I’m an e30 guy, but every time I see your vids I want an e36. Sadly prices had sky rocketed on these like in no time and I hate car notes (lien holders).Yours it’s freaking gorgeous.
Thanks man! I definitely like e30's too. It is pretty crazy how fast the values have been climbing... Thanks for watching man!
Treats On The Streets sure man keep up the good content.
Great video. And you picked a great place to shoot the video. That backdrop is amazing.
Subscribed because you're from UTAH!!!! I drive a 370Z
Nice man! Welcome to the channel
Marvel Mystery Oil in Tank & Crank - Sea Foam Spray for GDI.
Jesse Crawford that’s definitely the way to go. I do it like that 2 times a year on my e30 and the engine remains clean w great performance.
Also called "The Italian Tuneup" Ki30. haha
I just did this on my truck which is @ 254k miles.... It created a MASSIVE cloud. Super fun in a Walmart Parking lot.
I usually get the liquid. I get 2 cans. I pour one whole can in the fuel tank and I use half a can in the crank case and pour the other half to a vacuum line and let it heat soak for 15 minutes. It's great to use once a year or 2 between oil changes.
I miss my bmw 😔 thx for the video man.
You can also use seafoam to clean your catalytic converter by taking out #1 O2 sensor and spraying in the orifice 👍
Seaform clean catalytic converter remove #1 02 senser spray orifice
How much to spray an when motor hot ?
You can also replace your cat with an open pipe so it won’t need cleaning😂
seafoam is also a great mouthwash
Biddy thats nice that you show us with it in your car , what about the before my man so we can see the difference ourselves
Nice engine bay ..farst direct content .minimum use of
"montage fill" ..
0 wank factor .respect my man
I love how clean your m3 is (e36?).
So I did kind of make use of our prototyping and dyno facilities "after hours."
Thought about throwing on a turbo, but that was such a different rabbit hole with so many more variables and complexity that I chose to stick with NA.
That car is now 19 years old
+ASMR GAMING yes it is!
I'd take her on a date for sure... after checking her vin tag ID
+MrTradeTroll lol
Treats On The Streets my E36 is 24 years old lmao
MrTradeTroll hahahhah
nicely done I recently bought a car that has over 200,000 miles plus on it I used can in my fuel tank I definitely seen the results in performance and gas mileage what I did wait till my gas was almost empty put some fresh gas in little bit of seafoam drover for a while and then did it again s*** work great but I definitely wouldn't put it in my oil and I did hear turbo engines it's no good but I'm no expert I definitely do some more research for which I think sucks because they're more acceptable for heat damaged that's why they stop giving him to the cops I'm definitely going to use the spray for the upper manifold and burn off some that carbon which I know needs it and I'm pretty confident it won't blast off massive chunks of carbon in destroy my engine but I think that's all I'll do is he upper manifold with the spray and then just use the stuff in the gas tank cuz I already had good results with that oh my God.
Are you in Albuquerque?
Looks like the 505!
I'm in Utah 👍
Thought it was the sandia Mountains for a min also.
kick ass clean car mate !!
Thanks man!
Really cool m3, I was more interested in the car, forget about that seafoam stuff. 👍
Did this to a 1994 Nissan Sentra that hadn't been serviced in nearly 9 years...... someone called the fire department because every house on the street, and the school, were rendered invisible. It was awesome lol
Seafoam was made for 2 stroke outboard boat engines... I recommend LIQUIMOLY engine treatment. Just my
.o2
Your 2 cents is likely worth much more, BigP.
Key word "was" it "was" recommend to change your oil every 3k miles but oil have changed over time so not all cars recommend that for conventual motor oil.
Turned ur nice M3 into a giant vape....very cool video....nice job
When are you fitting the 420g six speed and fitting a S50 B32 Euro engine?
Winston Piddington jeez Winston one project at a time
+Winston Piddington lol. I'm going to try and swap the trans over winter, but like fato said... one project at a time haha. Thanks for watching!
+fato putso haha that's right. If only I was a full time TH-camr and could do this stuff all day every day!
Thank you for replying. I am a rare Euro S50B30 M3 owner that is just about to fit a 420G 6 spd to a Euro 3.0 - thus the interest!. I hear I will need a different drive shaft? Interested in the Carbon ones you can get now? rgds W.
+Winston Piddington yeah you need some other parts. I actually made a video a while back about all the stuff you'll need for the swap. Check it out!
Good video dude
Thanks man!
I've been thinking bout using sea foam on my 2.0 4 cl dodge dart. Any suggests ?
The smoke makes you think you’re doing something but it really doesn’t do much of anything but potentially damage your catalytic converter. I’d use it in the gas tank and that’s it. Regular oil changes is what cleans your crankcase. Solvent type oil additives or flushes can be risky for a engine that’s already dirty from lack of maintenance. If too much of that crud comes off at once it can cause major problems.
I’m planning on getting a new exhaust system so this is perfect for me
can i buy 2 cans for the crank case and fuel tank? Half of the can on the oil & once i’m done doing the oil change, do i put in another full can on my fuel tank?
Such a sweet M3
+Brad Nerdy Nay thanks man!
You're welcome
I usually do all three all at once little bit before an oil change
Doing doughnuts in the parking lot of a Mormon church?!? LOL🤣😂🤪
Brett Bentley isn’t that what they’re for? Lol in Utah there’s multiple in every neighborhood so everyone goes there to have fun I live behind a church and hear tires squealing almost every night. I live by a high school too so I’ve also seen a few kids take out trees, break front ends by slamming into curbs and unfortunately one fatal bullet bike accident.
Just another great informative video.. 🖒
Thanks!
Great video for easy instructions ... One thing you forgot to mention though in the first segment around adding it to your fuel tank - you should add it when your tank is close to empty (or even 1/2) to ensure the Seafoam properly mixes with the gas.
@2:43
Did you watch the video?
Im 62 year old women...Your video was very explanatory...👍
SWEET!
Flawless video. Very clear and informative.
I love the E36! Love from the Z3
What code reader do U recommend for a 2011 BMW 335is that gives the most bang for the price? I also own a VW Passat but the bmw is always the one with issue vs the VW 🤷🏼♂️
Very clean E36. Is thag an M3?
+Antoine Zammit thanks man! Yeah it's a '99 m3.
Keep it up! You got a new loyal subscriber.. from the island of Malta.
+Antoine Zammit oh that's awesome! Welcome to the channel man!
Your M3 is stunning dude.
Nice video! 👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks!
Man hes tall. Does he sit in the back seat to drive like hitower?
Thanks I’m putting this stuff in my 95 Cherokee I am very hesitant about what I put in it because I love her and many old cars don’t like it when you change stuff in the engine
I recognize those mountains...
oh the mountains... lovely view. guessing this is in Utah?
Yes 👍
When you use Seafoam in your oil, you must avoid pressing the gas to the floor. It's an instruction they recommend
Juan Pablo Velásquez for how long?
How come
this dude. 😂youre supposed to drive 200-300 miles
How do you drive the car without pressing the gas pedal? You think I'm gonna let it do an auto crawl for 200 miles?
I do the spray a bit different but I was pleased with the result.
Car auction, less bids, better price for you to buy
In.a car auction, the SOON TO ROLL IN cars are left on the lot with keys in them for lot test drive.
If you do the direct injection via vacuum line trick & leave the car, you might save money.
Start, add seafoam, leave the car to clean soak.
When they start it and roll it into the bay, dealers will see the white smoke as an engine problem and likely won't bid it up.
They'll think you're an idiot to buy it but you got a better deal on a car with a cleaner engine.
Hmm. Perhaps it wasn't the greatest idea for me to do that in front of everyone
car look great the engine super clean
Hey I recognize those mountains! Ben Lomond Peak!! O-Town
Haha that's right! From the O G Den!
Nice man I'm in the Terrace
nice MMM and
thanks for the vid
the best of this video it's you can save 12 minutes of video if you are not lazy and read the back labels.
I use it on both my E46 002 BMW 330ci and E90 2007 BMW 328i, they run like butter
Very clean M3. Low miles too. Love Utah. I have 2 of these 4sale if any1 is in chicagoland👍
JN you got a couple for sale ?
