Carne Asada Tacos - Mexican Food - Easy Recipes

  • Carne Asada tacos are one of my favorite street foods I like to eat when I go to Mexico. I used to work in a catering job that sold tacos, and I can remember selling over 200 tacos in an hour using this recipe. Huge lines of people waiting to make their order. I always enjoyed hearing the compliments from the customers how delicious the tacos were. I like to focus on the meat before making a taco. I want to make sure the meat is nice and flavorful, so when you add your condiments, it is a bonus of flavor. Also, my preferred method to cook carne asada, is grilled over Mesquite lump charcoal. It adds a nice smokey flavor and has always been my favorite way of cooking it.

    Going to use your recipe for my son's b-day on Sunday. I heard you say at least 24 hours soaking in the marinade. In your opinion, how long is best if you have the time?

    • @CookingwithKirby
      @CookingwithKirby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can let it marinate for 2-4 hours if you are on a time crunch. Just season the meat with salt directly instead of in the marinade. I like to keep my sodium a little lower, so that is why I let it sit longer. But ya, leave the salt out of the marinade and season the meat with salt. Let the meat absorb the salt for a few minutes, then place it in the marinade.

    I love carne asada tacos! Best I Ever Had was back in college when my homies and I would vacation in San Diego Then cross over into Tijuana on the weekends. My friends would go 2 get drunk and I would go to get fat! We got a lot of great food here in Miami but no one can cook proper Mexican for shit . Even Mexican restaurants that are considered good and claim to be authentic fall short. How can you be authentic if you got a kitchen full of ecuadorians and SQUuatemalans?? I do a lazy Cuban's version of it though where I just marinate the skirt steak in Mojo overnight. It's not as good as Kirby's I'm sure but no one has yet to ever push it away. Keep it up Kirby I love the vids bro!🌮

    • @CookingwithKirby
      @CookingwithKirby  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like some good times, Im 2 hours east of San Diego. I visit Mexicali a couple of times a year. $1 a taco, you can't beat that compared to over here in the states. Plus they give you all kinds of condiments to top your tacos. I feel you on that, I see the further away you get from the Mexican border, the food starts to change when it comes to Mexican food. That is something I have seen since I have lived in Palm Springs and Riverside. Thanks brotha, I hope you had a great weekend and a wonderful week to come.

    How many people/ tacos will this 4 pounds feed ?

    • @CookingwithKirby
