I'll turn 50 later this month born in 74. I spent most of my life listening to 60s and 70s rock but never paid attention to who sang which songs. About 5 or 6 years ago I decided to start listening to bands specifically to see which songs they did. When I got to Led Zeppelin every song I listened to was one I had grown up loving but never knew was done by them. That's how Led Zeppelin became my favorite band.

As you said, there's a Zepp song for every mood. This is very bluesy and goes way back to the 1960s. Hope you consider listening ❤

I love everything about this song including the lyrics and Robert's delivery, but for some reason I'm so attracted to John Bonham's drumming on this. It's just the perfect drumming for this song - it has plenty of space in it but he's playing really really hard and doing some really interesting switch ups. And that snare roll into a fill at the end is just incredible.

Thanks for doing my pick! One of my all-time favorites and as someone else mentioned underrated for sure… You mentioned the layering, yes a lot of that and Jimmy Page was a master in the studio with overdubbing as well. There is quite a big difference between Led Zeppelin in the studio and live, mainly because Jimmy often overdubbed many guitars, as well as the other band members to create their vision of what they wanted us to hear on the album. But that could not be recreated live because Jimmy was the only guitarist. Which forced them to approach the songs in a different way plus of course they loved to improvise live as well. Great stuff! Thanks guys!

Geeking out on the drums here: the hi-hat is unique in this song, he plays an accent where he closes the hi-hat, slamming the cymbals together and hits it with a stick at the same time (left foot and right hand come down together). You can hear the louder accent limp along in the phrase almost like an extra bass beat. It's almost like the opposite of the 'pss, pss' sound of the open hi-hat. Also the last drum fill, he hits every drum. I always crank that up as it fades.😅 This is a great song.

    Here's a rundown:
This is about a "love-in" near London that was broken up by the police. Robert Plant explained: "It's about a bunch of hippies getting busted, about the problems you can come across when you have a simple walk in the park on a nice sunny afternoon. In England it's understandable, because wherever you go to enjoy yourself, 'Big Brother' is not far behind."
The Misty Mountains are in Wales. They are referred to in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Return Of The King. Plant is a big fan of Tolkien and used references to the Lord Of The Rings series from time to time.
Led Zeppelin wrote and recorded this at Headley Grange, a mansion with a recording studio in Hampshire, England, where the band sometimes lived. Jimmy Page wrote the song one night while the rest of the band was sleeping. >>
This begins with John Paul Jones playing electric piano.
Robert Plant found himself drawn to Wales, and eventually settled in Worcestershire, England, near the Welsh border. "I missed the misty mountains - the wet Welsh climate," he told Rolling Stone in 2017. "I like weather people run away from."

Can you play pleaaaaaaase, some songs of The Chicago's and also The Spencer Davis Group. For the Spencer Davis Group my favorite one is
Gimme Some Lovin U.S. version. There is a Britisch version but that one for me does not have the flair they made for the U.S. version.
The same song u.s. version gimmi some lovin has also been played in films like Iron Eagle. To know what i am saying play both versions? On this platform you can find them. The best is/are is when you search it on vinyl. The Us version has some gospel in it also used in the film Iron Eagle wich is best.

The Lord of the rings movies are incredible. The hobbit movies are not nearly as good.

I love Led Zeppelin, but this is far and away my least favorite song by them. Sounds like the music was written first and then words were just thrown into it.

One of their best songs. So unique. Nothing else like it.

If you want diversity, try listening to Queen. Not their hit songs, but the deeper cuts. Aside from Bohemian Rhapsody, their hit songs aren't my favorites.
"It's Late" is my second favorite (behind BH, of course) Check it.

Robert Plant at the time of the recording of this album was heavily into Tolken and shares Samantha's love of that world... checkout The Battle of Evermore from same album and you will recognize the same themes... awesome tune...Plant unless i am mistaken got busted in San Fran for smoking a joint, re-read the lyrics 😉

Its really about a drugs bust in Hyde Park in London. LOTR is only referenced in the Misty Mountains line, but they also refer to the mountains in Wales so?
