In my opinion, you listen to the studio to get all the nuances, delicacies, intricacies, craftsmanship, and perfect production. You listen to and/or watch the live to get the exploration, improvisation, and the perfectly imperfect explosion of greatness. Both sides of the coin are phenomenal; it just depends on the mood you're in.

When I was younger I was very drawn towards all the bootlegs.. I've heard this song Every Which Way they've done it. Nowadays I always go back to that studio version... maybe it was closer to when it was first made, the fact that it actually used the acoustic guitar, but there's something of a lament in his tone that added to it.

Precisely. At first (long ago) I didn’t particularly care for the live versions because they were “different” and had a different feel. Now, I love and appreciate them both, and which I prefer depends on my mood.

@@barsandbarbells2022 me: pressing play as fast as I can to see my "Rock God Husband Jimmy" killing it
"Kashmir" has been my favorite song my entire life. My Mom said she used to find me on the floor trying to put the record on & I would jam to it. Still to this day - there's no song that can compare. Robert has said in countless interviews that it is the song he wishes to be remembered for. No problem, Robert, I'll never forget your masterful lyrics, Jimmy's iconic riff, John's powerful drum fills, & JPJ driving the entire song on keyboard while playing bass with his feet. For me it's everything.
👉🏼PLEASE DO THE STUDIO FIRST!! Then check out them performing it at Celebration Day (like ppl are requesting) & see if 32 years later Robert, JPJ, Jimmy, & John's son Jason can nail it 🔥🔥🔥 it's WAY more fun that way

When the Levee Breaks is one of the most hypnotic songs I've ever heard. From Led Zeppelin IV, my favorite album. Originally written in 1929, this showcases Bonham in all his "feeling" glory. Robert Plant is rarely more haunting. Gotta do it!

Great reaction, guys! I think the thing to keep in mind is that LZ was a very improvisational band live... they rarely played a song the same way twice. So, yeah, when watching you just go with the flow, and don't worry that it doesn't match the studio "perfection" exactly... rock on!

Its great but it's missing John's drumming. Led Zeppelin were not Led Zeppelin without John Bonham. His son is a good drummer in his own right, but he's not his dad. Robert knows that. That's the reason he didnt want to reform Zeppelin.
Knebworth 1979 is a perfect example of John's drumming on Kashmir. He drives the song.

The Celebration Day Reunion Concert and performance of Kashmir...is simply amazing. They are spot on, and this took place when they were much older..in their late 50's and 60s, I believe! Maybe even older, I'm not sure. But this performance proves that age is just a number!
They even have Jason Bonham, the son of the bands original and only drummer John Bonham, playing the drums, and he kills it! Just a magnificent performance over all and a must see.

Absolutely mesmerized and in love with Led Zeppelin. I'm 74 years old and I can remember distinctly. Every moment of listening to Zeppelin for the first time on LSD, which was the Zeppelin album, back in '69!!
That album was one of a very select few albums with every single song being the equivalent to a hit if it was released as a single. EVERY single song.!!
An extremely rare feat. Name a single group or single artist today. That can make their claim regarding the equivalent to a whole album of hits. You can't do it, because it can't be done today.

John Paul played a bass recorder on the opening bars. Brian Jones played one on Ruby Tuesday as well. It’s a beautiful sounding instrument. Though to replicate its sound in a live setting, he used what is called a Mellotron. A keyboard thing that has loops of tape inside to mimic many different sounds. He moves over to a Fender Rhodes electric piano for the second part of the tune - and bass pedals.

It would be hard to recreate the studio version live, there's at least 3 guitars on it - an acoustic, a 12 string electric and Page's trusty old telecaster. The double-neck did cover some of the ground with an electric 12 string and 6 string together in one guitar but they always offered up a great alternative version live and improvised through the template of all their songs to make every performance unique for the audience. If anything, Heart's performance was closer to the studio version, but they did have at least 3 guitarists doing the work of one man.

I love listening for the jumps from the 12 to the 6! I know them by heart now. Bonzo absolutely kills it on the drums.

Great Reaction! Think about the heights Heart went to, giving tribute to this song with the orchestras, horns, choir and chorus, all to match the talent displayed buy just these 4 artists on the live original. Impressive song and reaction! Keep it up

Trust me with bands like this...at the concert, you want the best songs to be like this because the amazing songs will last longer!!! Page tends to be sloppy live in soloing at times but live is live!

      Daniel~
Jimmy Page performed "Rumble" by Link Wray.
It was a delight to see Jimmy pay tribute to the iconic Link Wray.
"Rumble" was released in 1958 and was banned in several radio markets in the US, as "rumble" was a slang term for a gang fight.
The record was the only instrumental song ever banned in the United States.
As to Jimmy's electric guitar solo here on "Stairway", in my expert opinion, it's the finest electric guitar solo in the history of rock and roll.
It could be argued that Jimi Hendrix's solo at the Fillmore East on New Year's Eve, 1969, when he played the other-worldly live version of "Power To Love" is even better, but I feel it's a matter of "set and setting".
Both are demonstrations of tremendous cosmic genius. Two enormously gifted musicians at their galactic zenith.
I'm quite certain everything is predetermined, as Einstein stated. It would be very difficult to imagine this planet without Jimmy and Jimi.
How dull, drab, boring, mundane and pointless this planet would have been without their stellar musical contributions.

This is another video taken from the concert film The Song Remains the Same. You don't have to do reaction to the whole film although that would be amazing..... but just watch it for your own enjoyment. The fantasy sequences by the different members of the band(and their manager)are something you just got to experience for yourself. Good luck and keep up the great work.👍💓🎶🖖🍻🇨🇦
