@@bandmaidfanATL That's because the "One More" version, like almost every live album ever released by any modern band, has many parts fixed and remixed in the studio to sound better and more cohesive on record. That version kills, but I'll take pure live any time.
This one is a must! You get to see the band interact with quite possibly the best guitar solos in musical history. Yes, solos, 3 guitarists switching off
I think Rosalie would especially appreciate the story in "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" - a young person stepping out from the musical culture their family approves of to appreciate someone else's talents.
Free Bird, Tuesday's Gone, Sweet Home Alabama, Give Me Three Steps, That Smell, Gimme Back My Bullets, Saturday Night Special. Free Bird is their biggest hit.
Hey Rosalie!! Several others have said the same thing, but my must watch is Freebird at Oakland Coliseum, 1977. Legendary song in a priceless performance just months before the tragic plane crash.
They said Ronny Van Zant walked out into a field one day and when he came back, he had written this song! I've visited their memorial in Magnolia, Mississippi, and it's amazing. About 1/4 mile from where their plane crashed. The first words you see are, "If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember me?" There are three large gorgeous slabs of marble with their story on them!
Our son heard this while in the car with me. He told me to listen to the words. He was amazed a song had been written about a talk I had with him. It was 2007, and he was heading to USMC boot camp. He couldn't take anything from home with him, so I gave him this exact talk. I am forever grateful he heard me. Money is nice but please do not let it rule you. The best stuff is the simple stuff. Thank you for your reaction.
My first concert ever and the last time they were in Seattle before the plane crash. Skynyrd will reach into your heart though their music. That's what great music will do....Peace....
My absolute favorite song by these guys. The lyrics just hit me...man, if I could've seen them in person. Keep reacting to Skynyrd, you won't be disappointed.😎🤘🔥...one of the cornerstones of Southern Rock.
Ain't No Good Life. Written, played and sung by "Crawdaddy" Steve Gaines. He's the only member pre plane crash who ever sang a song on an album other than Ronnie. When the plane crashed, Ronnie, Steve and his Sister Cassie a member of the Honkettes the backup singers all died. Cassie got Steve the job. He was going to take that band to a much higher level in the future I believe. Damn Shame. The night the plane went down we held a wake at the local bar and it was attended by many. We all crawled out around 4:00 a.m. One of those nights you never forget.
At or near the top of every list of "Southern Rock" songs is Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama". For fans of the band, "Freebird" is probably considered the signature song. But "Sweet Home Alabama" was their biggest hit on the Billboard Top 100, and is the tune that would be best known by the general public. The opening acoustic guitar riff is instantly catchy & recognizable.
The story goes, Ronnie (VanZant)and Gary(Rossington) were sitting around talking about their mom and grandmas talks -legend has it the song was born from there.
Quite correct my dear in that this is indeed a legendary song! For me, their best tune and it says time honored truths and is loved by all who hear it. They have many bangers to try, do That Smell for another classic. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎸🎶🔥
Been listening to it since 1975 & never get tired of it - 2 Tunes that show their range Freebird as mentioned below & Tuesday's gone as mentioned below .
Thank you, Rosalie. I was hoping to see your reaction to this great song. It seemed like it would be exactly the kind of song for you to hear and talk about.
What else do you need to listen to by Lynyrd Skynyrd? EVERYTHING. Get the "One More From The Road" cd. That is a good start. They are one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, Call Me the Breeze, That Smell, Gimme Back My Bullets, Mr. Saturday Night Special, etc..
I believe this was written after the death of Gary Rossingtons grandmother. I'm 67 and it still takes me a couple minuets to compose myself after listening to this song. If you're looking to listen to more Skynyrd, look for the name or names of VanZant, Collins or Rossington in the credits. These songs will actually have a base from a band members life experience.
This isn't my favorite song by Skynyrd, but it is the most meaningful song they did. My favorites are "That Smell," and possibly "Saturday Night Special." They have a deep catalog of music to choose from.
Around 1980, some friends and I were kicking back by the pool when this song came on. The drunkest girl there asked a question that I'll never forget. She said "Is this what it sounds like when a guy cries?"
Nice reaction. A few songs really stand out of course Sweet home Alabama free bird I'm sure everybody's recommended those. My favorite song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is called That Smell. That song and The Needle and The Spoon are obviously about drug use. If you do Free Bird you live in Los Angeles. With the other two songs I miss her much much deeper than free bird or sweet from Alabama
Being mindful & into psychology you'll love their song Mr. Banker. It's a sorrowful & very soulful slow slide guitar blues number, & it's a very sad plea to a banker. It's the only song of Skynyrd's like it. Luv your channel, thank you!
Skynyrd has a great catalog. Tuesdays gone Gimme 3 steps Sweet home Alabama What's your name (little girl) Freebird Ballard of Curtis Lowe On the hunt That smell Ect etc.....😅😅😅😅
I grew up listening to all the great classic rock bands. This song has always been one of my favourite songs like top 5. But the other day I saw a 40 year old Fuq Boys aka Pegasus reaction to Gimme 3 Steps🤯 This song is now 1 of my favs and my new on repeat playlist❤
If you want more there is a plethora of great songs by Skynyrd. Ballad of Curtis Lowe, Give Me Three Steps, Sweet Home Alabama, Swamp Music, What’s Your Name, That Smell…
This CD is in the CD player in my car right now. I’m a huge LS fan. That’s the music I listened to when I was a teenager and now at 61 years old I’m still listening to them. And yes, I still listen to CDs. I’m old!
Freebird live at the Oakland Coliseum, Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Three Steps, That Smell ........ The band took their name from their gym teacher who hated long hair and Rock and Roll, Ha Ha Ha.
Freebird, live version at the oakland Coliseum. Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell, Whats Your Name, Tuesdays Gone, All I can do is Write About it. All masterpieces!!!!
when this song first released I was 12 years old and I oddly enough heard it at a skating rink I have loved this song since that day and I got to see them perform this live in 1976 yeah I am old but anyways this song is pretty deep and I love living by it a simple man is what I have always been and pretty happy thanks for another ride down memory lane as always your ride or die forever Eyyy Oooo
Ah gospel music! Growing up in Alabama, Skynyrd was it! I remember when they crashed and the deep sorrow that overcame our High School! Rock on! Thank you for letting the music play without talking over it!
Awesome song,Great reaction!!,Oct 20th is the Anniversary of the tragic plane crash that Took Ronnie,Steve & Cassie RIP,Try “Tuesday’s Gone” “Call me the Breeze” &. Or “Saturday Night Special” Thanx4content 💯
Skynyrd is my all-time favorite band. I could tell you so so much about these guys. Anyway watch "t for texas" 1976. It's when they opened for the rolling stones and blew them off the stage. It's in video so you can watch them in their prime. Some really great guitar work from all 3 guitarist. Please check it out. You won't be disappointed.
So So many great songs by them . Best live song ever Free Bird from 77 Oakland Coliseum. Others include Ballad of Curtis Lowe, Gimmie three steps, Tuesdays Gone, Sweet Home Alabama, Am I wrong or right. Too many to choose from!!
Free Bird and Call Me the Breeze. Free Bird is their curtain call and most popular of all time! Call me the Breeze is a JJ Cale song that is driving song with excellent guitar and piano solos and will have you hopping!
That smell is a good one. You could listen to. I think it’s probably the only antidrug sound that they’ve anybody’s done. And when they were coming off of the drugs, this song was written. It was written about the guitarist, actually two guitarist Alan, Alan Collins and Gary Rossington.
Nobody better 'come after' you Rosalie, we just want you to experience the music many of us love, and if you happen to like it too, that's what makes it fun for us 👍😁
The next song to listen to should be Call Me The Breeze , followed by Tuesday's Gone , That Smell , and then Freebird and it should be the studio version save the live version for later. 😊 Then just start doing any LYNYRD SKYNYRD song until you've done them all because other bands when they made an album well if the album was going to have 8 songs GOOD bands would 2 or 3 good songs and if lucky 4 the rest was just filler GREAT bands had 4 or 5 and if lucky 6 with the last couple of songs yes filler . SKYNYRD didn't do filler every song they ever did belonged on those albums . The beauty is that you don't have to believe me you're going to hear it for yourself but please start your journey with the order I suggested there's a reason!!!!!!! ROCK ON LITTLE WING🎉😂😊
Absolute classic from a legendary band. My other favourite (apart from the obligatory Freebird of course) is I Need You which seems criminally underappreciated to me.
Everyone is offering up the goods, and I agree, Freebird live from Oakland is required listening for any reactor. That performance was a few months before a tragic plane crash took some of their lives. The band lives on today as the families of these guys have kept it up.
I'm sure you have heard Sweet Home Alabama, it's been a classic for a long time. You should listen to That Smell and also What's Your Name from Street Survivors
Freebird live at the Oakland Coliseum really showcases who they are and the talent they hold.
IDK, the "One More From the Road" live version is pretty damn great. No video, but better performance imo.
and Sweet home Alabama
@@bandmaidfanATL That's because the "One More" version, like almost every live album ever released by any modern band, has many parts fixed and remixed in the studio to sound better and more cohesive on record. That version kills, but I'll take pure live any time.
Love Simple man, Sweet Home Alabama and Free bird.
This one is a must! You get to see the band interact with quite possibly the best guitar solos in musical history. Yes, solos, 3 guitarists switching off
Freebird at the Oakland coliseum is one of the greatest rock performances of all time. Worth a watch.
This for sure.
"One More From the Road" version is better imo
facts
Its one thing for a band to put A$$ in seats , but it takes it to the next level when when they all stand for the entire set 🤘
Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd are definitively the rock anthems of all time.
Check out "Tuesday's Gone" and "The Ballad of Curtis Loew"
I think Rosalie would especially appreciate the story in "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" - a young person stepping out from the musical culture their family approves of to appreciate someone else's talents.
Free Bird, Tuesday's Gone, Sweet Home Alabama, Give Me Three Steps, That Smell, Gimme Back My Bullets, Saturday Night Special. Free Bird is their biggest hit.
A legendary band of my teenage years, god I miss their talent. Ronnie could tell a story like no other.
Call Me the Breeze.
And can't forget The Ballad of Curtis Loew.
I NEED YOU. So underrated
Hey Rosalie!! Several others have said the same thing, but my must watch is Freebird at Oakland Coliseum, 1977. Legendary song in a priceless performance just months before the tragic plane crash.
Gimme Back My Bullets
The Needle And The Spoon
Call Me The Breeze

This song, along with Tuesday's Gone and The Ballad of Curtis Loew are my three favorite LS songs....but I like every dang one of them.
That’s a life lesson we should all strive to achieve! 👍👍👍👍🙏✝️❤️
Our son heard this while in the car with me. He told me to listen to the words. He was amazed a song had been written about a talk I had with him. It was 2007, and he was heading to USMC boot camp. Every song they do speaks of who they are and what they are
Its a f****** masterpiece
As a therapist, there are several more to react to, but the next *needs* to be.....THAT SMELL. - please?!
What a killer opening baseline. Bassists don't get enough credit for what they do.

Ed King's over complicated bass lines in this, the recorded version, are so awesome.
Quite correct my dear in that this is indeed a legendary song! For me, their best tune and it says time honored truths and is loved by all who hear it. They have many bangers to try, do That Smell for another classic. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎸🎶🔥
“That Smell’ it is one of their best.
I sang this to my son when he was little, much love and appreciation from Kentucky ❤️🙏❤️
This song, Free Bird and Tuesday's Gone with the Wind are the 3 Lynyrd Skynyrd songs I listen to most 👍😎
What else do you need to listen to by Lynyrd Skynyrd? EVERYTHING. Get the "One More From The Road" cd. That is a good start. They are one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, Call Me the Breeze, That Smell, Gimme Back My Bullets, Mr. Saturday Night Special, etc..
I Need You is imo one of their best songs, def worth checking out.

Can you imagine sitting down and writing this song ? 🥲
LS is an elite band in R+R history, IMO. In my personal top 5.
This isn't my favorite song by Skynyrd, but it is the most meaningful song they did.
My favorites are "That Smell," and possibly "Saturday Night Special." They have a deep catalog of music to choose from.
Check out That Smell , Tuesdays Gone, Needle, and Spoon

Such wholesome lyrics. Love this song.

My favorite LS song is “All I Can Do is Write It In a Song”
This CD is in the CD player in my car right now. I’m a huge LS fan. That’s the music I listened to when I was a teenager and now at 61 years old I’m still listening to them. And yes, I still listen to CDs. I’m old!
Freebird live at the Oakland Coliseum, Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Three Steps, That Smell ........
The band took their name from their gym teacher who hated long hair and Rock and Roll, Ha Ha Ha.
All I can do is write about it, is one of the greatest Skynyrd songs!
That Smell
Everyone talks about the brilliant guitar riffs, the bass lines and the drums. Listen for the subtle keyboards in the background. Perfection.
Great song, great message and you summed it up very well. Thanks for doing this song. We need more songs that speak truths like this one.
Peace.
The bass is incredible. Wide open guitars filling the back. Great long note. Check out Gov't Mule. Seriously good.
Please check out the powerful anti drug song “That Smell”. Great guitars also.
"That Smell" is deep. Try that one.
Freebird. At the Oakland coliseum.
Mac Davis had a song around 1973 or so called "Stop and smell the roses" that you might find interesting.
A song that every young person needs to hear and heed to the knowledge.
Freebird live Oakland Coliseum July something I think 1977. Only a couple of months before the plane crash that killed some of the band members.
"FREEBIRD!!!!!" as I hold up my lighter. Freebird rocks. Yes live at the Oakland Coliseum.
Be something you'll love and understand!
This is a song that all song writers think….Damn why didn’t I write this……is just to simple and to the heart
Skynyrd is my all-time favorite band. I could tell you so so much about these guys. Anyway watch "t for texas" 1976. It's when they opened for the rolling stones and blew them off the stage. "I Need You " "Ballad Of Curtis Lowe" One of Jacksonville Florida's finest Bands and Artists!
Song reminds me of my pop pop and the advice he would give me… tear up every time.
Ronnie wrote all his song lyrics in his head, never committing them to paper. He said, "If I can't remember the words they ain't worth singing."
Free Bird and Call Me the Breeze. Free Bird is their curtain call and most popular of all time! Call me the Breeze is a JJ Cale song that is driving song with excellent guitar and piano solos and will have you hopping!
Many suggestions for the big songs will get suggested to you, but one that u absolutely must do is That Smell.
Bet you've heard Sweet Home Alabama, maybe not.

Where to begin….so many great tunes. Gimmie back my bullets, Workin for MCA, Poison Whiskey are just a few
Everyone is offering up the goods, and I agree, Freebird live from Oakland is required listening for any reactor. That performance was a few months before a tragic plane crash took some of their lives. The band lives on today as the families of these guys have kept it up.
Deftones cover of this song is amazing! I like the fact you tied this to Maslow.
Freebird Live Knebworth '76, Call Me the Breeze, What's Your Name, I Know A Little......
I'm glad you got the message girl.
I'm sure you have heard Sweet Home Alabama, it's been a classic for a long time. You should listen to That Smell and also What's Your Name from Street Survivors
