It seems you're sitting quite high compared to the wheel - especially with direct comparison of the super trofeo footage.

I've literally just got my DD1 as well and set it up on my new P1-X rig! It feels amazing and coming from a CSL after 2 years with it, it's a massive step up! I can now say welcome to the DD gang!

My Dd1 on its way , can’t wait been using csl elite and PS4 . Built new 120 /80 rig this week , carbon Corbeau seat, fanatec shifter and handbrake, curved monitor and pc . Built the Porsche gt3 wheel can’t wait to get pc up and running to give it a go. Love the channel Jards watch the live endurance races you do with Valle. Omen, Jimmy . Your enthusiasm has made me spend a fortune on Sim gear ha ha . Watching your older vids waiting for next live stream 😁

@@markstuart8401 Thanks. I have an AccuForce Pro v2. I believe it is 13nm max, but I never run it very high. I do this for fun, not a workout ;-) Reckon I run mine @ a peak of 9-10nm most of the time.

You're using way too high FFB values. It should be 100% on the wheel, and 20-30% in the SIM. This gives the most realistic feeling.

Hi Jardier, I was wondering who the fun loving dude was who was racing with Jimmer in the ACC laguna seca race awhile back and the TH-cam algorithm steered me to some of your videos and I am hooked. I also recently got a DD1 and added APM to my V2 and it has been greatness. Of course I did upgrade from a g27 that have I used forever and needless to say no looking back now and I am hooked:). Cheers!!!
Hey Jardier! I run a SimuCube 2 Pro not a Fanatec DD so not sure about specific Fanatec FanaLab software settings, but I run 100% in TrueDrive software for SimuCube and lower (40%) Gain in ACC and it feels incredible! Much better this way around. Keep Dynamic Damping at 100, Minimum Force at 0, and Road Effects at 0. Enjoy!

Welcome to the DD club Jardier. Glad you like it. I use the third paddles for DRS or ERS in iracing and AMS2. For ACC I am not sure what could be a good use
Oh yeah that is great idea!
In ACC I use left upper paddle to toggle wipers on/off, right is for flashing the lights... On AMS2 those clutch paddles gives a good option for launch control when used as an bite point for the clutch, both down - 1st in - throttle down - on green release first and "slowly" release second... And welcome jardier to DD-world, difference is big, really big.

I made a huge leap of faith and upgraded my $100 hori wheel to a full fanatec dd1 setup. Planning to switch from forza to sim racing, cant wait until it gets here!

Full DD-grin on entire video. And there are probably better DD's or so the other camps claims. But coming from belt driven base that difference is like night and day. My path were: G29 -> CSW2.5 -> DD... and not going back.

I really like it! Only downfall is that center is for some reason about 5 degrees to the left. Maybe less. I do feel it when I’m driving but of course it’s very minute. I’ll be contacting Fanatec to see what the deal is.

Hi JARDIER! I got my DD1 couple of days ago! It's awesome! Used your link of course! But I've got a sort of issue, mainly in ACC and AC a little, under load when going through corners it's as if pressure has built up and I get a random knock in the force feedback! Only on certain cars and tracks which is odd and I've not experienced it in iRacing. Very odd. Any help is more than welcome! Thank you for the awesome content

Jard, i hope you aren't using it in low torque mode.. there should be a little rj45 dongle.. almost looks like a mini usb stick... make sure that is in the back of the dd1 base. to feel the real power and detail. i have one too, also..

I now have a Fanatec CSL Elite and when I put FEI at 100 then it makes “knocking” sounds when I go over curbs which is very annoying. If I lower the FEI the knocking sounds go away but then the feeling is not nice.
Does the Fanatec Podium makes “knocking” sounds when going over curbs when FEI is at 100 ?
Do you need to install the latest driver from Fanatec website or do you need to install the latest BETA Driver ?

Does the dd1 work with the PlayStation ?
7:31 shows you drive in LOW Torque Mode, with a DD1 @ 50FF? This means 4.5Nm Peak Forces, so less than a CSL Elite. Are you aware of this? ^^ PS: send you an email :)

Just a thought wouldn't it be nice hopefully it's not just me to have a driving simulator rather than everything about doing the fastest race the fastest lap imagine driving across America or Europe etc in a believable setting with a wheel that gives you the feedback of genuine portals different weather conditions when it's raining or maybe when it's icy on the road doing the fastest lap around your favourite circuit is one thing can you imagine drive into your home town or city and having it look realistic there's enough racing game

did you put in the torque key? cuz the DD1 limits its self to 8NM of force with out the key, with the key your get 20NM of force but be careful if you put the key in that wheel can 100% hurt you if you aren't careful. P.S. make sure you put the torque key in the correct port or you may break your wheel base!!!

Also ingame I have 100% FFB and 40% road effects
And on the wheel itself i have 50% FFB
with 100% in game gain you get software clipping. Best is to lower in game to maximum 70%, better 60% to not experience any kind of software clipping. Also Road Effects are fake canned effects and should be turned off on a DD.
Jardier, as a rule of thumb, ALWAYS set your DD to 100% and then change gain in game. To make a long story short, when you don't use 100% of your DD, you are losing a bit of information (I'm sure you can google for the explanation).
I had OSW MIG30, then Fanatec DD2 (which I immediately sold back, not even as good as OSW MIG30...) and now I have a Simucube 2 (vastly superior imho) and all are made the same way it seems : it is better to set your drive to 100% and change in game gain to make it fit your needs.

Actually this rule of thumb is not useable for DD wheels but only for lower end Wheels like Thrustmaster, CSL Elite and CSW. Its fine to also use a FF setting of 60 for example if you want no more than 15Nm on a DD2 which should be absolutely fine already for the majority of people. There is no need to ALWAYS use FF100 on a DD. Also, you do NOT lose resolution when you lower the FF - thats another long time myth.. ;-) You more lose game resolution when you have to set in game gain to 30% or so because of FF100 which would then result in (for example) 3000 instead of 10000 steps of resolution coming from the game - and THIS is bad.
@@momorious it is not a myth, it just came from iRacing and the way ffb is working in it. It might not always be the case for other games. Anyway always set to 100% and then set the gain in game is not a bad config, it is just a rule of thumb, not a golden rule.
Gain have no effect on resolution precision, at all. Your example is wrong.

Fanatec tested this intensively internally and came to the conclusion that decreasing in game gain is much worse compared to decreasing FF on the Wheel because the game FFB signal resolution is dropping too much. Was dicussed in their forums and confirmed by game developers.

You raced the other day with it and you didnt speak much about it. If it was mine i would be the happiest person on the planet. Ihave the csl elite and wish i knew your settings. My CSL elite settings is 100 percent force feedback, too much for me (default).

@@Jardier Oh I thought you had CSW 2.5 and was going to ask if it's that big of a jump. From the research I've done most people say that CSW is more than enough, especially if you don't need/want more power from the wheel and that the jump from CSW to DD wheel is not such a big jump in what you can feel when it comes to details.

Must be nice but I have a question how come must sim racers don’t use vr it would make even more immersive plus with that new wheel the experience will be on other level
I jump between vr and triple monitors myself but no way do I want to watch a vr stream, it just doesn't work and makes for a bad viewer experience in my opinion
i have a triple screen and a vr with a dd1 .. vr is nice from time to time , but u cant chose vr over a triple screen setup . the triple are much more comfortable .. a bit less immersive but i would go with triple if i had to chose one of them

Holy holy holy, when reading some reactions here, i now see i'm using my dd1 always on "low torque" for some months now ..... ppppfffff i'm so stupid hahaha, i always thought that only dd2 has a torque key .... I will test the high torq later, when i can find that key hahaha... pppfff stupid 😆 low torq was also very heavy 😅
Just take care to drop your FFB seeing when you put the torque key in, the motor is stronger than you think, don't hurt yourself! Start low (35% or so) and work up to what is comfortable for you

@@jeroenschilderink7894 In the tuning menu, FFB basically represents the amount of force being output by the motor so yes, FFB is essentially motor strength. Lowering the amount of strength won't lessen the detail you feel, but having it too high means you're spending more time fighting the motor than feeling what it's putting out.
Similarly, don't put the gain up too high in game, otherwise you will 'clip' the top of the signal. Think of it like a wave graph. If the amplitude of the wave reaches the top of the axis, it flattens off, so all of the signal 'above' the flattened bit is all lost detail you aren't experiencing.
Having a DD wheel isn't about how strong you can have the strength at, it's designed to help you feel the detail of the road much more clearly and give you a better understanding of what the car is doing through what you feel in your hands

@@Jardier those are very bad settings. Keep DPR and SPR to 0
DMPR give unnatural ffb resistance to turning the wheel. This is intended for games that haven’t got ffb built in.
Spring pushes the steeringwheel back to Centre no matter what. This overrules the tires wanting to go a certain direction which makes the ffb more vague.
Also set drift mode to 0
@@LuukVdStreets this is actually not true. SPR is NOT used by ACC AT ALL! If you set it to 100, 120 or OFF doesnt matter - FFB feels exactly the same. DPR is NEEDED for the in game Dynamic Damping and for standstill damping. Drift Mode is not an available option on a DD..
Whats "bad" with the above settings is only that he doesnt use NDP - everything else is fine.

Well that depends on you mate, if you have any wheel and you are happy its def not worth! :)
DD wheels are much better, I can actually feel the steering go light over dips in the track. But it’s very expensive. If you have to save up to buy it, then it’s probably not worth it. I had a Thrustmaster 300 which was great when it worked, but it kept breaking down. If it had not stopped working, I would still be using it.
