These trucks came with a 338 cubic inch V8. They were a real powerhouse. They ran for years and and had tons of power. In 1958 Ford was making vehicles men would buy and use. Today all they make is plastic shit.
Man - an F750 Big Job in cutom cab trim, that was full dress for the big trucks! Really doesn't look like it'd be terrible to bring back. Especially having a complete dash!
Back in the mid-fifties my dad sold off some pine trees and the outfit that came in and cut them out to go to the mill used old single axle Ford. Dodge, and Chevrolet trucks (maybe a few Internationals). They used the same basic pulpwood style racks, and they were stripped down. Most of these trucks were in the nineteen forties and they had no fenders, no doors and just a bare semblance of a hood. They did have seatbelts though, a rope that the driver tied himself in. This was mainly to keep from falling out of the truck. These old trucks were beat up and all that was necessary was that they run (mufflers optional). This truck you have here is a Cadillac compared to those old trucks. It is actually a top-notch machine for its day and surprisingly turned over and started.
It had a key, of course it will start! But that hanging coil wire, that gave me a chuckle! Nice job and man what a happy idle the thing has. Love to see it move if you can get to that clutch!
Thanks for your 1st video on your new channel. It was interesting and enjoyable Wiley. I am not quite following you on the time factor though. Seemed this one was about as long as the other channel but might be I am not looking at it correctly. That was a big old ford truck at one time with a big old engine. Had a two speed transmission so was meant for heavy work. Sorry it would not run for you but had been sitting a lot of years I believe. Thanks for trying Wiley. Keep up this new channel. Will watch it for you. Thanks Wiley. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Thank you Steve I was going to use this video on the other Channel. I think you will notice a difference after a few videos. I have a plan and I hope you and others like it
That ford has a hyd clutch release system. You need to put brake fluid in that master cyl on the firewall. possibly rebuild or replaceit andthe slave cty. Theengine isnot a Y block. Thats most likely a 332 truck engine. It is similar to the MEL engines. It shares the same bellhousing pattern as a FE, Many of those old trucks when the engine expired a Fe was bolted in there
i just saw the video and i noticed that you are trying to start it but you have the coil wire was disconnected, so you will not have any spark but you need to make sure your ignight is hot
It’s too bad that you probably live down south your videos pop up every once in a while and this truck has to be one that I really like that if it was for sale and nearby me, I would definitely be all over it if I could buy just a truck without the apparatus that is mounted to the back of the chassis I would just want the truck and not those pieces, but I would try to make a deal to where I could incorporate that pitchfork because you can never have too many of those. In recent years, my homestead has been flooded with Ford products I have a 50s Ford jubilee tractor and I’m still looking for other tractors eventually to aid on my Homestead and other Ford equipment like Ford pick ups especially looking for a 29 or 30 model a Ford pick up mostly complete but does not have a bed on the back of it because I have a dump bed that I want to put on one that came with the one that I own currently and I’m turning the one I own currently into a flatbed and I want to build a dump to have as well
Sir the truck is 1957 as you can see from the grill Sir it is better to fill the radiator with water during the continuous running test so that the water pump damage disappears
Hola Will me acabo de suscribir a tu nuevo canal saludos tambien para Jacob, soy venezolano y estoy residenciado en Argentina, soy electricista automotriz y por eso me gustan tus videos, asi que cuenta con otro suscritor, un abrazo
That's wild u just hooked up a couple things and hit with starting fluid and it fired up lol while most people who do this will it start thing will break out the xray machines lol and replace everything just to see if will crank over and start.
223 , 272 , 292 , some of the truck engines had a cross over exhaust pipe , across the front of the engine and hooked into the front of each exhaust manifold . Some times it helps to pump the gas 1 time , about a 1/4 the way down and take your foot off of it and crank . I keep 80/90 gear oil in my oil squirt can , it doesnt dry up as fast as blaster or motor oil .
a Nope not a Y block . Thats a 332 MEL design truck engine. Much better engine. the rocker arms did not stop oiling and the rear mains did not leak. And a 223 is a six cyl engine
@@thecollectoronthecorner7061 Years ago trucks were made for different purposes and had different size engines including 6 cylinder . Thanks for watching
13:08 Thank you Wiley. That truck sounds like a world war2 fighter plane.😂😂😂.
That’s amazing it runs! Good job getting it started.
Truck has a 57 grill, and the engine is most likely a 332 Y-block, possibly a 302. Betting on the 332 though

Nope not a Y block. its a larger and much better 332 truck engine.

Front looks like a '57 model. 58s had dual headlights.
That engine is was called the y block. Probably a 292 cubic inch. Might be a 312 ci
Memories 👍👍

New frame
My familyhauled pulpwood for over 50 years. Chevrolet trucks were the best by far😂
Rare vehicle

Bet that did -18 to the gallon 🤠
How did you get the fuel in the carburetor from the jug? Was that an electric fuel pump on the end of your line or a filter?
Batteries look heavy.😂

By WD40 by the gallon and put it in a spray bottle and carry it with you. Works just about as good as the Blaster and is cheaper.
Thanks
I really need to do that
😊
Thanks
You sure you aren't a subsidiary of Vice Grip Garage? I do love your vids though
That's crazy, i have heard 10 year old trucks that did not sound that good.
Thanks for watching
Please turn the idle up...
Im fairly sure it has a 332 engine.
Didn't they start adding quad headlights in 58?
I think that’s a 1957 F750, the 1958 had twin headlights!!
Is that a Lincoln V8?
Make a good log truck
espero que pronto activen los sub titulos en español

Got your self a 57 there
Being a gas engine i didn't think it would ever start
I was thinking the same thing. Thanks for watching
Is it for sale. 😊
yes. I can hook you up. thanks for watching

I don't think a 2024 truck that has been stopped for 40 years will start like this, the system is too complicated and fragile
you need at least get oldgas out or dissconect lines and run out of ajug really should turn by hand first too
They don't make fords like they used to..😭
Drive it away!
1957 not a 58.
That starting fluid is bad on a dry gas engine. Gas would be a whole lot better.
Thanks for sharing and watching
I agree. I always do a first start a zombie engine on a mixture of a gallon of gas with 1/2 pint of 2 cycle oil in it
I would like to restore that truck my uncle he had two of them here in Mobile Alabama
It’s for sale. Probably can be bought reasonable.
I think this truck is a 1957 not 1958. Because 1958 FORD TRUCKS HAD TWO HEADLIGHTS ON EACH SIDE.
13:08 Thank you Wiley. That truck sounds like a world war2 fighter plane.😂😂😂.
