Do more old trucks!!!! They are my favorite. The first truck I remember was my dad's GMC. We were poor so it was probably late 50s, early 60s. GMC. I was born in 64 so those curved fenders and that heavy grill were a thing. I want to restore one but for now, I live vicariously through you. Thanks so much for what you do!

This reminds me of cutting wood back in my 20's, wife and i cut in a drizzle to point we couldn't and when we went to go it clicked once and then nothing, turned out the contact between the solinoid and starter was missing on a chevy squarebody,, i rummaged around truck and found a broken hacksaw blade a 22 mag bullet and a drywall screw, cut the end off the bullet after pullin lead/powder ofcourse and used the brass to replace the copper tube that was missing and used the screw to jam/wedge it back together,, and it saved the day, was sleeting and near dark, i had to use a lighter to see my fingers move cuz i couldn't feel what i was doing,, anyway,, love ur abilities including ur editing and ur sense of humor u and family have, keep doin what ur doin ✌❤

My dad had one of those he bought new in '52, He used to sell vegetables grown on his family farm in Kingston Massachusetts after WW2 . He built a box in the bed to hold what he was selling. I have a picture of my mother who he married in 1950 next to the truck long before I was born. He maintained the farm until the house and land was sold in 1967 after my grandmother died. I still remember the old truck and the big '50 Plymouth parked in the barn. Good memories.

My Dad had a 48 Bonus the same colour as this 52. It had the flathead V8 and 4-speed crashbox and I loved riding in it because the sound of the straight cut gears in that box were so musical and the V8 could idle so low you could almost hear each cylinder fire. Seeing this F1 moving along the road brought back a lot of great memories. I've enjoyed the series on the beast - even the breakdown had a positive ending! To my mind, a vehicle with its original running gear still working well should be left intact and run as is, rather than repowered with a modern engine just for the sake of it, so it was great to see that she's still got some good miles left on that engine and everything working as it should. Great looking truck and great to see that she can still be driven by your youngsters too! All the best

Great job on the truck, a little trick with brake lines if you're trying to save them is heat them with a butane torch at the fitting then quench them with a spray bottle of water the sudden shock will break them loose so when you unscrew the nut the line won't twist off. As far as gas tanks Rusty you can fill them with white vinegar let him sit for a week dump them out and the rest will be gone.

What a gem! I was really starting to wonder if that OHV L6 was actually the original engine until I looked it up. As it turns out, 1952 was the first year for the OHV 6, but the V8's were still the 239 flathead. Surprisingly, the OHV 6 had exactly 1 more horsepower and a few extra ft.-lbs. of torque than the V8! Go figure... It would probably be a plan to pull that tank back out and drill the sending unit plate out for a top mounted draw tube to alleviate the clogging issues, and just plug that bottom fitting. They are a constant source of fuel issues on those old Ferds! My grandfather had 2 of them, a '47 dump truck, and a '51 pickup with a flathead V8, and he had to convert both of them, since neither one would run more than 30 minutes without plugging the fuel line.😛

You said the country roads were made for cars that age. When I was a kid most of the county roads in our part of Oklahoma were dirt or gravel. The funny thing the county would spray oil on the roads in front of the farm houses to knock down the dust. The oil did not kill anything, it made the weeds along the side of the road grow very well. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in those days. My first car was a 1954 Ford and paid $600.00 for it with 30,000 miles on it. I bought it in in 1959.

Some of the best memories of my teenage years were running parts for a body shop with my buddies in an old Ford truck like that one. The older guys did all the driving and I was riding shotgun. The heater was stuck on full blast. And it was no fun in July/August. Great video guys, love your family !

Those sardines got me in trouble at a factory lunch-room. My co-workers insisted I eat at a picknick table outside. For wheel paint, try alkyd-urethane porch and deck enamel. It's a gloss paint, you can brush on, leaving no brush marks. If you have a detail gun and compressed air, it can be sprayed on.

Love me a car with a clutch, had 3 vw's and a Subaru. I was born in 1950, so the Volkswagen's were a 69, 72 and 74. Nothing like getting pushed and popping the clutch to get started. Proud to say when I got married and had the subaru a mechanic told my husband whoever is driving this has not damaged the clutch at all.

I was going to tell you something about the old Ford truck, I have a 1950 f600 , it has adjustable tie rod ends and all of the steering parts are adjustable, you can tighten them up when they get slack. Don't know if the smaller ones are the same or not, just a thought. God bless!

When you install new tires you really should line up the balance point dots to the valve stem. You will use alot less lead to balance the tires. Give it a try and you will find out the less lead to balance tires deal. I really enjoy watching saving the old trucks and automobiles, keep up the great job y'all are doing!!!

This story reminds me of my father and I building my first 51 Ford F-1 when I was in high school 1968. We bought 3 to build 1 back when they were $25 to $50 each. What memories we made together. Makes me want to get another and do it again....... I think I may get one already done, not as limber as i used to be!

I installed a flex hose on my old 1970 Chevy. They use to be pretty cheap in the 70’s but the last time that I priced a flex hose, it was very expensive compared to the aftermarket Gates hose.

Hi John and family!!! I've got to say that what you are doing with your family is absolutely wonderful!!! Well done you, keep it going! congratulations for the life you are giving the family.
I don't know much about cars and that's why I wanted to ask you WHY DO YOU START AN OLD CAR that's been standing for 10 years or more, Without checking the oil, water and petrol?? YOU HAVE ENOUGH TOOLS AND knowledge of mechanic. In my opinion if you start the car with all that old OIL, PETROL and NO WATER you know that the carbureiter is gone get more dirt on it and so ON!!! PLEASE PLEASE tell me why. Because normally after you do go and get all new parts but why not do it before hand?? I hope you can get back to me please
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH
All the best From Birmingham UK

Thank you. We do usually check to make sure it has oil. I like to start them and get them warm to break down slide before changing the oil. Thanks for watching.

My health just took a turn for the worst. I was hit on my motorcycle in 2010 . And broke my neck. I've had 2 life saving surgerys since. And in 2019 was diagnosed with dual lung cancer. Throat cancer and have a thyroid. They told me I had 30 to 60 days to live. But I'm still here. But I've Ben badling hi blood pressure. For the last 30 days. 175 over 90 . And I'm on heart medication. But nothing is helping. My heart Doctor's just told me last Tuesday that I have about 30s left in life. But only God knows what . I'm a very positive person. All of the time. 24/7 .that's the way I live my life all the time. And always have. You and your family I have brightened my days with each and every video you have shared with me and everyone. I look forward to seeing you all every day I wake ⏰ up . Thank you and your family. That means the world 🌎 to me to see them. Hope you and have a amazing week. Your friend Motor Mike from Milwaukee Wisconsin.

You need to put another fuel filter underneath before the fuel pump to catch any rust that might let loose, the rust getting to the fuel pump can ruin it. I did the same thing on my 52 Ford F1 because the tank in it was rusted bad also. I used a big steel filter in the line under the cab.
