That's a fun series. My Yanmar has an old V belt, I forgot what a pain those are! I understand one could upgrade to a serpentine belt with a proper tensioner, but it would require replacement of all pulleys.
The 3YM30 is a great engine, In my opinion for a small sailboat, it is the best engine money can buy. I Don't know whether it is a total flood or just a partial, meaning the whole engine didn't go under water, but if it is a partial flood, meaning the engine will still turn over, then I recommend squirting a tiny bit of oil on each intake valve as well as replace the mixing elbow and put an oil pressure gauge on the oil pressure line. when the 3ym30's get water in the oil, the oil pressure regulator can get stuck and it will blow up an oil filter.

It would, but if you plan to do any alternator upgrades, it is a must!
