    #Norsii :P Great video as always lots of great info. On Kraka Drak though, the 8th Edition Dwarf army book does not list it as having fallen, so Im going to assume that sufficient Dawi survived to rebuild. It also places a norse Dwarf hold called Kraka Ornsmotek further to the west. A little Dwarfen addendum :) Thanks for the upload!

      I'm not familiar with the Dwarf army book, but would it be possible Kraka Drak has lost contact with the rest of the Dwarven empire. Thus the southern dwarfs technically still consider Kraka Drak standing while it may or may not have fallen

    I am a HUGE 40k fan and originally dismissed fantasy as a lame tolkien fanfic thing. But looking at sigvald, the dwarves, etc... i like this a lot, a lot more condensed than 40k (a great thing.)
    Btw, do you think they'll do to 40k what they did to fantasy? I see some hints but as someone not here for the end times, i wanna recognize the signs

    Mathias Eliasson made a fucking splendid, Norse armybook. One of the armies were the Esjgard norse, which are the vargs, aeslings and graelings. The other is the Midgard army, who are united under an incredibly powerful, norse king, who's an ally off the Empire and Kislev ( not really an ally, more like a trader partner ). He also made really cool armies for Kislev, Nippon, Cathay and Ind. Really ambitious projects, really wellmade. I urge you guys to check it out.
    EDIT:
    As for the lore on Norsca itself, I would take what you read on Warhammerfb wikia with almost mountainous piles of salt. Alot of the stuff that's written about the norscans there are made to make them look like animals. That isn't the case. All the cannon fluff from Liber Chaotica, the 7th edition Hordes of Chaos as well as a couple of other good reads states the norscans around the sea of Claws are normal people.
    Yes, they worship ''aspects'' off the chaos gods. Yes, they are savage raiders and warriors. But they are also people. They have families, they are fishermen, shipwrights, traders and hunters. There are people from Marienburg and the Empire heading there to trade, many of them befriend the norscans. Norscans and nordlanders have even traded wives. There are also hundreds of norscans who head to Marienburg to work as mercenaries. They are not slaves of the ruinous powers like the Kurgan or the champions roaming the wastes. Not even the northern tribes off the aeslings, vargs or graelings are completely subjugated by chaos.
    The thing about the realm of chaos is that it is formed on the basis on mortal expectations and beliefs. If a norscan tribe believe the aspect of Tzeench he is worshipping is a benevolent, protective figure, that aspect of Tzeench will make a presence felt in the realm of chaos.
    Since the norscans worship aspects of these gods, these aspects exist in the chaos realm as their own, personal gods, separate from the real Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle and Tzeench. In fact, Sigmar, Khaine, Ulric, Gork and Mork are all aspects off Khorne as well. The only difference between these people and the norscans is that the norscans have considerably higher risks for mutations, which they view as blessing from their gods. And why wouldn't you? It's so much easier to kill things with three arms instead of 2.
    So all in all, this is a fairly well balanced video. Although I think it's important to stress that all norscans have a different perception of their gods and that affects the way their gods are.

      +Chiraq's Max Payne Most of the stuff on Warhammerfb wikia is taken more or less wholesale from official lore. Like, literally copy-pasted. In any case, most of that stuff you've mentioned regarding the Norse is either retconned material or just plain fanfiction.
      In any case, the Kurgan really aren't that different from the Norse as far as religious convictions go. In fact, the Norse uphold Khornate worship far more readily than the Kurgan, which you can find in the Liber Chaotica, also.

    • @marcomeme4875
      @marcomeme4875 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Hamza Changazi funny, I didn't know the warriors of chaos army book, hordes of chaos armybook and liber chaotica was fan fiction but hey..

    • @kolsveinnskraevolding
      @kolsveinnskraevolding 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chiraq's Max Payne No, but everything about Erik Redaxe, the exaggerated divide between North and South Norsca, Olric, Sigmar being an aspect of Khorne, etc. is.
      And besides, if you had read the armybooks properly, you'd know that the Norscans are "the very epitome of the Warriors of Chaos".
      Not to mention that the Liber Chaotica is just plain irrelevant now. A lot of its assertions, like the Norse having to flee with Chaos invasions rather than join up with them in earnest is pretty much contradicted by every other piece of Norscan lore. Hell, it was contradicted even in the Hordes of Chaos armybook, which said that the Norscans "leave their homes in force to take up arms alongside the daemons of the Chaos Hordes".

    • @marcomeme4875
      @marcomeme4875 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Hamza Changazi I just praised Matthias for writing a good armybook, which I found more interesting than the current fluff. That's just my 2 cents.

    • @kolsveinnskraevolding
      @kolsveinnskraevolding 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chiraq's Max Payne If you like it, that's fine. Just don't tout it about as if it was actual canon.
      Personally, I feel that Matthias's armybook took everything that made the Norse unique (Chaos, mutations, daemons, dark magic) from other fictional Vikings, excised it, and replaced it with a lot of generic Norse mythology.
      As for a lot of the fluff in those books? Taken mostly from Jackdays' excellent Norsca supplement on Kalevalahammer.

    It's arguable whether or not the Norscan dwarfs are actually wiped out since the 8th edition Dwarf army book that came out after the Warriors of Chaos one notably retcons the destruction of Kraka Drak.
    Then again it's likely that CA will take the most convenient route and not put dwarfs in Norsca.

    #Norsii Very well put together. I am a big fan of Warhammer already for quite many years but I never read much material on Norsca. This gave me more knowledge. Also, are you going to be do the Kurgan tribes or move down to Kislev next? The Forge World book "Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos" has a lot of lore on the Kurgans if you didn't already know.
    Also small note, you mentioned the Ungols being the ancestors of the Kislevites, though I thought they had only partial Ungol blood and the mainly they descended from Gospodar tribes coming from the east and a little mix of Norsii. The Ungols live in northern Kislev (i.e Praag, Troll Country etc.) while the Gospodars live in the southern and western parts.

    What a demented and deceived society the Norse are in Warhammer. Such mindless devotion to cruel gods who have no true love or care for their followers. Very sad.
    Question though, has there ever been any Norse tribes who abandoned Chaos worship, and took up faith in Sigmar? Or would you say that the Norse are the most heavily corrupted race of humans, and are nearly inseparable from the influence of Chaos?

      Norscans see the Southerners as subhuman vermin who are not worthly to live and thus it's OK to commit all kinds of atrocities against them. Plus, Nehekhara is far from Norsca, the barbarians simply didn't know that Settra is vengeful in the extreme and can come back.
