    Hi Stephanie, you are so talented. The last time I sewed anything was 33 years ago, I was making my dresses when I was expecting. I still have a sewing machine but I don't even remember how to thread the needle. lol. There is so much I want to do and so little time to do it. So happy to see you doing so much, xo Marta

    I love this idea!! Just a tip i have learned with ironing is to blow on it when ironing close to your fingers. It helps!

    I love these scarves. Material is so expensive in New Zealand its much cheaper to buy a finished one which is a shame. Love your tutorials :) New subscriber here

      Hi Trish, I'm sorry I missed seeing this comment! Thank you so much for subscribing. Actually, it might be as cheap to buy one here too. lol. Sewing is not a cheap hobby. Sometimes I find fabric in unusual places....like thrift stores....blankets, curtains and large clothing are some great sources of fabric. Just a thought. Hugs, Stephanie

    At Last !!! A tutorial for a single sided infinity scarf!! May I ask what kind of material that is please? I spent $40 on an lovely infinity scarf and everyone complements me on it and I want to make my Godmother one. The material of mine is a kind of a gauze, with little tassels. I love it . Thank you ! Great video.

      Lottie Arena It’s a soft flannel, like for shirts. I found it at Joann. Nice and warm. 😊
      PS I made them for my whole family and I see them wearing them often. (In winter, lol)

      @@FarrellFocus Thank you for that Stephanie :) I am in Australia and unfortunately don't have a lot of fabric shops. And the ones we have are few and far between. We only have one main textile/manchester/party goods shop, and I think they try to cater for everyone but they seem to focus on kids dance materials and quilters. They have some sort of double sided materials but you really have pick through it. But a really great tutorial. I think you explain it well.

You should do some scarfs for s giveaway. Yes..the black and white is the perfect design. Now.....your tempting me to get a sewing machine. Excellent job 🙌🏼. Can I hire you girlfriend. Aloha 🌺

    Hi Stephanie - May I know is linen or cotton material good for infinity scarf?

    • @FarrellFocus

    Does 45" fabric work to make two scarves also, or do the scarfs look stingy that narrow?

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vicki Packham
      Yes! I did a couple that were 45, and they worked out great. It also depends on the type of fabric. You might even like it better with less “bulk”. It’s fun to experiment.

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so sorry that I missed your comment, and I'm sure you have already figured it out on your own. But, I will answer anyway....Yes, I have made them more narrow, and they were fine. Either way works great! Thanks for watching.

    Cool tutorial, but on one point super redundant. You told is 9 times that we need fabric that is the same on both sides.

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry. I can see how that would be irritating. 😊

      It's not hard, really. You just have to start somewhere. Mistakes are going to happen and that is how I learned everything I know! Lol. Good Luck! Hugs, Stephanie

    I couldn’t follow which sides you were seaming. The long sides or the short ones. Very confusing. Sorry.

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      christina wedow The seam is on the short side, the long sides are hemmed. Hope that helps! 😊

    I hope that you got permission first before measuring your scarf otherwise it is using someone’s Intellectual Property.

    • @FarrellFocus
      @FarrellFocus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see your point. I actually ended up using my own measurements based on the size of my fabric. It just worked out better that way. Thanks for the advice. 😊

      Within the USA, and most other countries have similar laws, clothing and bags fall under ‘useful item’ and they are not protected under copyright laws. It is perfectly legal to draft your own pattern from an existing article of clothing or bag 99% of the time. Images, what is printed on the material, can be trademarked and licensed; which is why designer hand bags are covered in logos and why you can’t resell anything you make with Disney branded materials, but it is the purely decorative image that is protected not the ‘useful item’.
      If you could copyright clothing it would be near impossible to get or make for yourself due to licensing fees.
      This was a well written explanation of why:
      ‘To understand how the rules work, it’s good to keep in mind that the general policy of copyright law is to encourage creativity so the public can benefit from that creativity. Because the law exists for the public’s benefit, not to make creators rich, it strikes a balance between giving creators enough rights so that they’ll have an incentive to continue to create, and making those rights limited and temporary enough so that the public can start adding onto the creations and advance culture, technology, and society.
      Courts interpreting the copyright law have concluded that the utilitarian uses outweigh clothing’s ornamental features. Keeping in mind that things that are functional and utilitarian can’t be copyrighted, it’s easy to see why the cuts of dresses often don’t meet the requisite levels of originality to deserve copyright protection.’
