    Love your descriptive video. Thank you for using your time to assist others with this make. I have one question: have you ever made this type of scarf on a serger? If so, any tips?

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I have not tried using a surger to make this scarf because I’m a little nervous about going around the zipper with a surger. For me using a serger is more about making exposed seams look nice and tidy. And since this scarf doesn’t have any exposed seams, I didn’t feel it was necessary. If you do want to try it I would suggest inserting the zipper first with a regular machine and then just use the serger for the straight long seams of the edge of the scarf.

    Oh my goodness. I have watched and re watched this so many times. Made it, un picked it, made it again and now I've just seen what has gone wrong for me. When lining the pockets up and sewing down sides, I couldn't understand why the stopper of the zip wasn't on the left. I see now that how I was taught to measure a zip ( zipper pull to metal stop) is different to you. You actually include the zipper tape at the top in your measurement to the bottom zipper stop. Silly me for not double checking. So that whole inch was sucked up in my seam allowance! Never mind, it works, but will use an 8 inch zip next time. Thanks for the video.

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know after you made this comment I measured all of my zippers and found that the ones that I was using for this video are not true to size. They were listed as 9” but the actual zipper is 8”. I purchased them in bulk from Amazon, I think they are from China not sure. But they were cheap and not the best quality either. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I’m going to make sure to double measure next time. I’m sorry you had difficulty with it. I’m thinking of doing a part 2 update for it.

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sian Sweet hello and thank you for watching. My fabric was 44 inch wide flannel. I started with a 72 inch length piece and cut it in half down the length to get two scarves from it. 😊

    • @siansweet257
      @siansweet257 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TiffanysStitchery Thank you for your reply. Just one other question - is there anything you would do differently if making this in a knit fabric? Many thanks.

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sian Sweet I think I would use an interfacing on the whole pocket piece to stabilize the zipper. Maybe some on the main fabric around the zipper as well.

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I’m not sure what you mean. I made two scarves the same size. I started off with 2 yards of fabric which would be 72 inches long and then cut it down in half lengthwise so each scarf before sewing was approximately 72“ x 22“ each. I hope that helps.

    Tiffany, I have one more question. I have made three of these so far (thank you). I just want to be sure what to do with the ends of the zipper tape. I know we have to pin them out the way, but do you recall if you eventually sewed them down or will that happen later when we "double" the zipper to sew up the pocket and the rest of the scarf? Thank you so much

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lynette Patrice the ends of the zipper tape should be enclosed inside your stitching and you shouldn’t see them anymore. I didn’t do anything else to them besides what you see in my video. I hope that helps 😊

    • @TiffanysStitchery
      @TiffanysStitchery  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m completely aware of the music issue but I chose to leave it because I felt it wasn’t that annoying and many people still seem to get the information they need for making the scarf. It’s not super easy to create videos for TH-cam that are perfectly edited when you are first starting out and doing all the work yourself. I’ve had many positive comments on this tutorial and only a few negative ones and then only about the music. The music isn’t easy to remove from an existing video unless I redo it completely. You can try turning the volume down and reading the captions next time. 😊
