Dust 2, the map that can make you feel unstoppable when you're having a good day, or make you feel like absolute dogshit when you're having a bad day. It feels like there's no inbetween.
I found that it wasnt about good or bad days but about how many pricks use awp on the server. No awps, no problem.

I dont think I have ever cried watching any eSports related (maybe only a tear when C9 won the major), but this video hit close to home for me. Across 3 accounts, I have almost 9,000 hours into CSGO, and a very large chunk of which was spent DMing on Dust 2. For all four years of high school, I would come home and not even play any MM or ESEA, I would just DM for hours upon hours on Dust 2. Now 5 years after graduating high school, I still do the same, at least 2-3 times a week if I can. I havent played any MM or ESEA in almost 2 years, but i still get on Dust 2 because I guess it feels like home. So much has happened after high school, I left for the Navy, got my associates, moved a lot, found a great girl who I think is the one (wish me luck!), but i still get on Dust 2. Besides the visual update, Dust 2 hasnt changed, at all. And I guess it makes me feel like im still a freshman in HS. It grounds me, that even though everything in my life has changed, Dust 2 and CSGO will be there. It sounds so dumb, but its comforting. No other game/map makes me feel the nostalgia the way D2 does. Its crazy what a stupid video game can do.
Also Dust 2 is my least favorite competitive map LOL. Mirage FTW

This map is so well known that people who have never played CS still knows the layout of Dust 2.
Before i started playing cs, i thought mirage and dust2 would be the same map. Didnt knew any layout, but the textures and some sections of both maps and cause they look so similar, it thought they would be the same map lol

Feels almost nostalgic seeing the AWPer middle section open again. I can definitely see why they patched that.
I think the change is really good. Awpers can still go middle and duel, while the spawnkilling got removed completely. CTs crossing to get to B can still get you killed but it's much more unlikely.

Dust map shows a middle east country, which was bombed by west for their personal interest. Thousands died, millions affected till date. Why encourage youth by playing ct as western police and showing terrorist as citzens of west.
Change Dust map to Arizona, show english text, show american people and their army as T team.
Every action of west will show its reaction inshahAllah.

For real though, I still remember this map was named Dust 3 in the early 2000s, those days me and my friends playing it on 1.6 locally in our fav cyber cafe. Dust 2 was more of a shrunken de_dust map, tiny puny square-ish dust map which is more suitable for warm up session for CS:GO.

Yeah dust2 in early is very different compare to final version the different im notice its:
1. Bombsite A was locate in new area in middle
2. There big area in side of CT spawn
3. There no hole in side of Bombsite B
4. Bombsite B is locate more central compare to final version
5. Some door was not exist like doubledoor in middle
6. T Spawn locate in current Bombsite A
7. While CT spawn locate in current side of T spawn

I played this map since I was like 7 or 8 years old. I'm 20 now. That's more than half of my life playing Dust 2. It's more than just a map. It's home.

I quit playing D2 back in 1.6 days when it was 90% of the servers.
Over saturation killed it for most old school players and a lot of pros grew up in those days as well. We've only really reached the point of pros entering that have been CSGO exclusively in the last couple years.
Even CSGO is over saturated as well given it's always the shortest time to a match, so you're playing it 75% of the time if you have it as an option when you queue.
There's a reason it's always banned when doing map selections at the pro level. They rarely play (train) it anymore because they got sick of playing it before they went pro.

@@chloaaah it's true dust 2 could get pretty boring at times due to the lack of "tactical" advances compared to other maps, but the point of dust 2 has always been raw aim and how you can outmaneuver opponents with little amount of structures.

Dust2 is boring to play and watch. I also hate how spawn dependent it is and that you can get killed while trying to get to a bombsite.

On the other hand, I feel the same about Mirage, although news are it's gonna get re-worked, to bring Cache back

I feel like there were 2 maps in ALL of gaming where 2 types of people were made, where friendships were born or ended. Where it was just fun or chaos. Them being Dust 2 and Rust. Don't want to start a fight or a war, but all of can agree these 2 maps will always be at the top of anyones lists.

Sad to see CS:S only get about 10 seconds of coverage, that was a whole era. Also it would have been good to hear more from the creator. What does he think about Dust 2's cultural impact, did he go into the games industry, does he get royalties from all of the other versions etc.
Back in highschool, if your classmates are missing in class, youll surely find them in dust 2.

Dust 2 is perfectly balanced map that has stood the test of time. Nothing broken about it. One of the best map designs ever in any game.

I was 6 when my brother introduced me to Counter Strike 1.6.I started playing it,especially the furien mode,it was so cool!I was the top player on almost any server I entered at 8.I'd sometimes get banned cuz they suspected me of cheats but how could an 8 yo prove that?I was a kid.I took a pause then,at 10,I started playing CS:GO and now,at 13,CS 2.I consider myself a bad player with Godly aim.But all these years,7 years of Counter Strike,Dust II carried my childhood and still does.It's the OG map,the GOAT.I will never get bored of this map,it's just too good.

As a guy growing up in a small town in India. CS 1.6 was our only game to go for. I remember playing Dust2, aim headshot, aztec world, poolday, poolday aztec, awp India, etc. Last I played CS was in 2016. Somehow this video came on my home page. I need to start playing again but all my friends are 30+ and with kids lol.
Before I got my first gaming PC there was an Internet cafe in my city that had steam/wow/unreal tourney CoD, all kinds of amazing games. My friends dad owned it and every Friday night they had Friday night fights which was a CS 1.6 tourney for adults only. He would let us in sometimes to spectate and on rare occasion, play. Those were the most epic and memorable moments of my child hood. I don’t really play CS anymore but it will be forever cemented in my memory (alongside WoW) as the game of my childhood. Playing 1.6 and WoW as a 13 year old with all my buddies was to this day the best gaming experience of my lifetime.

people don't know how to hold long in pubs, you dont actually have to put anyone long, play site and 2 cat, if they take long and site, nade site from cat to retake. if they plant for long, smoke them out, flash retake. if you send 1 or 2 long, hell send 3 long, you will always get flashbanged out and get stomped no matter. if one of you die right away in A, its almost impossible to retake
Dust 2 has that brother aura, he sometimes bullies you into oblivion, laughs at your face and sometimes is chill and lets you have fun, at the end of the day you two have grown together, wouldnt have it any other way.
I feel like the dust maps would have been great for a new game mode involving brooms where the Sweepers are pitted against the Counter-Sweepers.
