Bracelets fine. Looks great. Feels great on my wrist. I cannot tell it is not solid endlinks unless I look specifically for them and hold the watch 3 inches from my face. Looks same as a Rolex bracelet unless you pull out a magnifying glass. You expect a lot from a $275 watch manufactured by one of histories greatest watch makers, made in Japan, designed in Japan (not merely ripped off and made by slave labor in brutal dictatorship).
"You expect a lot from a $275 watch". Correct. Reason being San Martin are producing excellent quality/value watches under this price point. For example see my SN020-G review below. th-cam.com/video/fuJ4X_8VaL0/w-d-xo.html This uses; sapphire crystal, solid end links, solid milled clasp, AR coating. Therefore is better quality/value than the DressKX at 275 USD. "made in Japan," The "K" in the reference number SRPE53K1 denotes this was made in Malaysia. Watches made in Japan use "J" in the reference number; for example if this was the Japan made version the reference would be; "SRPE53J1". "(not merely ripped off and made by slave labor in brutal dictatorship)" I am assuming you are referring to homage watches made in China. You are mistaken, Chinese watches are not made by slaves, under a brutal dictatorship. The working conditions in Chinese watch factories are similar to watch factories in other countries. Just catching up on you’re last few reviews. I love Seiko, they have some real iconic designs but I think their cost cutting practices are becoming more and more apparent. It’s a real shame that they just don’t show the same quality in the production then with their aesthetics. I do love that dial though.
Thank you for watching Ross. Yes, it's a shame they don't improve the specification to match the price increases. In 2020 solid end links, and solid milled claps have become the industry standard. At the £260 price point it is expected. Of course this kind of cost cutting means more profit margin for Seiko; which is why it's done. Agreed, on the blue sunburst dial; it a lovely deep Navy blue. Regards.
@@mohanlalkagra451 Thank you for watching Mohan. This watch is made in Malaysia. The "K" in the reference number denotes Malaysia. Models made in Japan have a "J" in the reference number. Regards, #WR4K
Excellent and clean review. I'm currently looking at a piece in this price range (currently being a poor student), and was wondering: If I were to go for a SRPE63K1 (same watch but with a nylon band), do you think the value-aspect of the watch would increase? Seeing as how the bracelet seems to be the biggest issue, I would assume it increases the feel and value of the watch to ditch it? Thanks in advance!
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it's better value on the nylon strap. You could also change it to a rubber or leather strap which would increase the comfort, but still keep the price down below the bracelet version. Regards.
Not a fan of Seiko in any shape or form, but anyone that wants a good honest review to form their own opinion , then they will never get a more professional opinion and thorough review of any brand of watch other than your good self John. You are a rarity , and no one comes near you Sir 👍 Tam.
Thank you for watching Tam. I appreciate the compliment. I used to like Seiko, but since their price increases; without improving the specification to match; they are no longer good value. Lots of collectors will bought a Seiko 5 as a first automatic, then an SKX007 or SKX009; then moved up to a Prospex model such as the Turtle, or Sumo, etc. Often Seiko fanboys are then not able to look objectively at a piece, as they are blind to the shortcomings. I try to give every watch a fair chance regardless of price point; using my excellent value/quality main 2 criteria. Glad you enjoy my reviews. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. They are the same watch really; this one is just a scaled down version at 39mm. I prefer the blue sunburst dial and smooth bezel on this one. I also prefer the reduced proportions, as the 20mm lug width suits the 39mm case; better than the 22mm on the 41mm SKX/5KX case. Those proportions work well on the SKX/5KX as its a dive watch with a dive bezel. But for a daily wear piece with smooth bezel 39mm and 20mm looks better. For even money, I would go for this piece as overall I think it looks better. Regards.
Between the SRPE5K series vs SRPE6K series apart from the strap/bracelet, is it true that the 6K series has brushed stainless steel vs 5K's polished stainless steel? If so, what are your thoughts between the two, namely which is a better choice? Thanks !
Thank you for watching. Yes the 6K is brushed. Personally I think the 5K looks better with the polished finish. It really depends on whether you prefer to wear the watch on a bracelet or strap. The brushed finish suits a strap better as it gives it a tool or field watch look. The polished finish makes it look more like a dress watch or daily wear watch on the bracelet. Regards.
@@watchreviews4k thank you very much for your reply! I managed to lock in a good deal for a srpe53k1 (175 usd) because 63k1 was out of stock, the dealer was nice enough to swap the bracelet for the nato one even though i have not bought it yet, so I'm on fence on whether the polished looks great with nato strap (also planning to swap this with the tan colored rally strap). 😔. I agree that the brushed steel would be a better option for a strap. Just disappointed to miss out of the deal
Great objective review. 👍🏻 I just bought this watch for 184 USD brand new from a reputable watch shop here in Singapore. Would you say its acceptable at that price point?
Bracelet and clasp and the box aren’t deal breakers - but a sapphire crystal / lume / movement and dial are integral. Which is why the crystal is so disappointing at this price.

I had this watch one month ago but has a issue with stem. I don't remember I bumped it somewhere but it has a squeeze when I try to rotate it.
Thank you for watching Mario. It is a shame they don't upgrade the bracelets to something like the Strapcode ones; solid end links and solid milled clasps. Collectors would happily pay more for this improvement. As I said in the review; pressed clasps and hollow end links were acceptable in 1996 when the SKX007 was launched; but not in 2020. I still think it would be a satisfying daily piece if worn on a leather or rubber strap. The 40mm case is very comfortable with the flat caseback. I found it more comfortable than my SKX009 which I previously owned. Regards.
The screw down crown (Edit - ment to say push/pull) - limits depth to 100 meters, the exhibition case is rated to 100 meters. This seems perfect. So, why would you need a case back rated to 200 meters? If you need a dive watch, don't bye this one! Love this watch.

Beautiful watch. Nicest design since skx. Love Seiko, you have to factor heritage into the price.
