I just tried to make them and they are absolutely delicious. I changed the recipe a bit though. Instead of jalapeños I used spring onions 'cause I don't like the taste of peppers. I also baked them instead of frying them since my mom has a high cholesterol level and doesn't really eat fried food. Anyways, they turned out super yummy and they were sooooo easy to make. Thanks so much for this amazing recipe, Gemma. I can't wait to try out different flavours soon :)

My mouth is watering! How good would those be with a bowl of chili! Also, wonder about a tiny drizzle of warm honey...savory with a touch of sweet? Making myself hungry!
I loved you videos, each and every one ! Thank you for such amazing beautiful recipes, and yes I have tried many of them , they work perfect for me.. This recipe of savoury doughnuts goes best with coconut chutney, or dipped in lentils, or simple salsa dip and mayo.. this is truly breakfast, lunch , dinner recipe..
They are almost like something I ate in India called a Vada. The difference is that the Vadas are fermented (I think). Thank you for sharing this recipe, they were delicious 🤩🤩🤩
I've been subscribed to your channel since I started my freshman year of college. I also find it exciting to have something instead of sweet once in a while. My best friend loves savory food more than sweet. Despite the rest of my family loving sweets, my Chinese mom doesn't like sugar that much but strangely loves melted cheese, spicy food, and breakfast food like donuts. This might be the recipe for her.

Wow savoury donuts us a fab idea! Huge congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. Sending love and very best wishes from Stourbridge UK 😍 xx
I love this recipe! My family doesn't eat fried bready snacks that often so I use this recipe to bake a savory bread loaf. I do use my local spicy chillis instead of jalapeños (even the fresh jalapeños I can manage to get here in Korea turn out to be much milder!). The bread goes so well with cream cheese and bacon! I've even tried it with a homemade honey garlic spread (minced garlic, butter or olive oil, grated parmesan cheese, and a drizzle of honey, microwaved and mixed with parsley) and that was good too. I saw the older comments on this video and here in Korea, we have a few old-school (more of my parents' generation) fried wheat-based desserts, such as "doughnuts"(often using glutinous rice flour for the dough), with or without red bean paste for the filling, and kkwabaegi, a long piece of dough that has been joined into a ring and twisted before frying. Both are best served fresh and piping hot, either plain or dusted with granulated sugar.
First thought: "Indian version of doughnut, but a savory one. Crispy on the outside and perfectly soft and pillowy in the inside!" *But* :) no cheddar cheese and the batter is flattened slightly on the palm and poked in the centre (doughnut hole) deep fried in hot oil! Yours look yummy with cheese!

These certainly are a sort of American version of what India has already done for centuries, but the difference is the addition of yeast of course. A good idea nonetheless! You should give the Indian vadas a try Gemma, and see how you like them😃.
Gemma has several donut recipes, sweet mostly, and this one is savory. We have not done one in a mini donut maker machine. Sorry we're not much help on this one.
I'm thinking of that as well. Think it's wise when adding bacon to pre-cook/fry them to get rid of the excess fat. Or maybe use ham or a well trimmed bacon instead. I had a colleague who made cheese bacon fritters once. A bit greasy but it was ooooh so good!!!
I'm pretty sure you did the closed captions, yeah? Because they're really accurate. Wow, Savory Donuts! Now that's big and bold!!! Question, can you make any type of savory donuts (eg: ham and cheese, spring onion)? Since you started Bigger Bolder Baking, how do you decide which recipes you will make and upload every week?
Yes, absolutely. But when you add other ingredients, make sure they are not the wet kind as it would alter the results. Gemma looks at the requests from all platforms and what bakers typically make on that particular time of the year when preparing content.
