Ceaseless Discharge, hunkered down on a stool in some dive bar, mumbling to the bartender: "You think *you* have a shitty name? Let me tell you something about having a shitty name, buster..."
Miyazaki on the Bed of Chaos, from a Design Works interview: "That's the truth, there were quite a few [bosses who gave us trouble], when deadlines were closing in and I couldn't get a good mental image of what I wanted but we had to settle on something. Those situations were the hardest because I knew something was wrong, but couldn't express what I wanted and couldn't give a solution. That was difficult, both for me and for the artists I was working with. I suppose the Bed of Chaos is the principal example of this. ... We really had trouble with that. I've already talked about quite a few aspects of the game I'm not entirely happy with, but I'd have to say that my greatest regret is the Bed of Chaos. The artists and designers worked extremely hard and came up with some fantastic ideas, but it exposed a real problem in our production method. We had no way to find a common goal and work towards it when things went wrong. It's definitely something I want to correct in the future."
Wow Miyazaki seems to speak so open and honestly about his process and faults... I've never actually heard him speak in an interview before, this demands respect.
@@Wuggernaut This actually applies to the entirety of Lost Izalith. As far as I know, it was done as a last resort, when time was running out. So it might seem a little unfinished to you.
1:07:00 Fun fact, there's only two "Soul of a Great Hero" items in the entire game. They give 20k souls each, which is more than most bosses give, so in some ways they're among the best loot in the game. It's basically a free level, don't be disappointed to pick one up! 🤣
I LOVE the edits where you place text reacting to your previous self that coincide SO MUCH with what we think! That moment where you found the secret Bonfire in Lost Izalith but didn´t rest in it... My god, pure cinema.
Some lore on Solaire: when you first met him he said he'd come to Lordran to find his very own sun. By progressing his questline, more and more he goes hollow, but not completely because he still has a purpose. When he finds the sunlight maggot, his already damaged brain thinks he's found the sun, and at that moment, Solaire loses his purpose and goes hollow. Your best course of action is to put an end to his misery there, as you can't fix him. This is a very recurring theme with FromSoftware NPC questlines. To answer your question, however, yes this is avoidable. By giving the Fair Lady 30 Humanity you'd be high enough on the covenant that you'd be able to open the door from the othet side and kill all the maggots before Solaire found them. In this version of the questline, Solaire "beats" the game in his own world and succeeds Gwyn, thus becoming god of sunlight (his purpose fulfilled thus). Fun fact: if you saved Solaire he'd be available as a summon for the final boss. In your world unfortunately he will not be available 😢
@@WuggernautIf you did save Solaire from the sunlight maggots, he would remain depressed at the last bonfire you found him at right before the Lost Izalith forever.
Really awesome that you managed to do this much in this episode! I love that "Nah, we're gonna beat it" against the boss. Honestly, the hardest thing about that boss, is keeping yourself from rage-quitting and chucking the game out of the window. I can't tell you how many times the Witch of Izalith has swept me into her holes.
The centipede at the beggining spit acid at you. That's why your weapon got at risk so quickly. But it affectes the rest of your equippment, so you should have repaired all of it at the bonfire. I personally constantly repair my equippment in this game. It's cheap and can be done at any bonfire.
Hey there! Hint for you: you need a different ring to explore the Darkmoon Chamber further. It can only be obtained in a place you haven't explored yet...
I also lost Solaire on my first run. It's a tragic fate for such a kind dude. Always helped and asked for nothing in return. While there is a slightly convoluted way to save him, this is generally considered his canonical ending. Saving him can be a goal if you ever play DS1 again! Miscellaneous aid: - The sunlight maggot, tarnished by association as it may be, is a source of light. - There are four lord souls. - not aid, but Lost Izalith and the daughters of Chaos have really deep and tragic lore that you absolutely should check out after your playthrough!
Bold move going for Bed of Chaos first. In case you're getting frustrated with it, don't worry, Miyazaki himself apologized for making it, calling it his biggest mistake. It's literally possible to kill BoC with nothing but your bare hands, as it dies in 3 hits (two tendrils, the core). Veteran players simply go naked and rush for the objectives (armor is pointless here, speed matters more). The good news is, you've passed through the most frustrating part of filling the lordvessel (the rest of the locations you need to go next are much less frustrating in comparison) Also, unfortunately, you can't save Solaire in this playthrough. He goes hollow in your timeline, and the only thing you can do is mercy kill him. You can save him in the next playthrough, though. To do it: -After killing Quelaag, hit the illusory wall in the bell of awakening room and don't kill Eingyi (you killed him accidentally in this playthrough). He will ask you if you want to be a servant. Choose yes, and he'll allow you to pass. Ask the Quelaag sister to join the Chaos Servant covenant and offer her 30 humanity to level up your covenant to lv2. Now, remember the giant door before the Demon Firesage boss that's "locked by some contraption"? Now you can open it directly before facing Centipede Demon. Once you open it, kill all Chaos Bugs there, leave not a single one alive. After that, proceed as normal to the Centipede Demon. Once you killed it and goes to the giant door's location, Solaire will be depressed, but uninfected and non-hostile. If you managed to do this, he can be summoned for the final fight against Gwyn, concluding his storyline quest
Seeing the home of the Capra and Taurus Demons makes me a little sad. The ones in Undead Burg couldn't find their way back home. They must've been so scared 🥺
I think the ones in the undead burg were meant to dissuade any undead from finding their way into the depths. The first Taurus demon is on our way to watchtower basement, through where we access the lower undead burg- where we find the Capra Demon, who has the only key to depths. From depths we descend to blight town, then Demon Ruins- where we need to clash with a host of Taurus and Capra demons and then finally make our way into lost Izalith. Even Quelaag was protecting the entrance of Demon ruins. So I guess all the demons were strategically placed to stop any potential chosen undead, for they would require the Gwyn's soul shard, and bed of chaos is the mother to all these demons.
@@Wuggernaut It's a subtle little touch that I love, that basically 1 Capra and 1 Taurus managed to somehow find their way out of Izalith, and all the way up to the rooftops of the Undead Burg and became stuck there, until the chosen one strolled by and put them both out of their misery.
what I love so much about the souls games is you can read about these powerful gods and champions from what we assume is thousands of years ago and somewhere somehow we are able to obtain their stuff which are ancient treasures and the lore just is so expansive and detailed.
Watching you try to run across the lava, change to another ring and not even look up the new lava-proof ring you just got from the boss fight is typical souls.
In terms of being overleveled, after Anor Londo, it's hard to balance the 4 paths you can take because they don't guide you to them in order. So they all have to be easy enough to complete as soon as you get the Lordvessel.
the witch Quelana outfit is the most OP armor set of the game. amazing defense and great resistance for a light load. for example if you had done the painted world of Ariamis with that armor, you would've never gotten toxic. and believe it or not, when the game first got released it used to have a defense of 44, they nerfed it to 30 but it's still good. but most people don't wear it because of fashion reasons
@@Wuggernaut you can actually meet Quelana in Blighttown, she has great lore about the place, her family (all the bosses after Quelag in demon ruins/Izalith) and gives you a quest (kill bed of chaos). fascinating npc but she's gone now. you can only meet her it if your pyromancy flame is +10 and you haven't killed Bed of chaos yet. I'm just trying to give you an idea of how much you missed so far and you will miss so much more, like all of us in our first playthrough. In whatever way you wish to do your ng+ (on screen or off screen), I advise you to do it with heavy backseating from your community or look up a guide if you want to experience the full content this masterpiece of the game has to offer 😀
You know what the real catch to the Gold-Hemmed Black set is? The reason its starting stats are so good is that it can't be upgraded. Most people don't realize this because they don't ever think to upgrade armor or some jackass has told them it's a waste of titanite. But even at +6 (which only requires regular titanite and large titanite), most other light armor destroys the Gold-Hemmed Black set). Hell, even at +4 a lot of light armor is better. The one thing the Gold-Hemmed Black set is really good for is fire resistance.
@@Eyedunno you're absolutely right but I think it can be decent if you get it right after Queelag, which wasn't Wug's case. I despise the ones who say to never upgrade armor, just don't use chunks yaknow. I love armor in Dark Souls 1 because it matters, like in a good rpg game. in the later dark souls you can't even upgrade the armor anymore :(
Epic episode bro. Wizard Wuggs mixes up a hell of a score. Ironically, you managed to beast through the most hated area in the late game for the first lord soul lol But that means it's all gets better from here. R.I.P. Solaire. It gets us all every time, but the first is the worst. Good luck going forward! Don't you dare go hollow on us.
1:25:46 Watching the emotional gut punch of Dark Souls newbies finding Solaire in this state is always cathartic. I saw one guy even shed a tear over it. It's heart wrenching, because in this dark world there are very few incandescent points of light, and you watch them flicker and fade and go hollow. Losing Solaire, who was always so jolly up to this point, feels like losing a dear friend. I'm sure others have spoiled other parts of his quest line, and to be fair you could probably play through a bunch more times and not find any of his other quest branches so a spoiler is warranted here. But let me just say that it's worth remaining ignorant and playing through again pursuing other paths and doing things in a different order if you could fit such a thing into your schedule.
So Logan said that because you don't meet the intelligence requirements but if you talk to him in the place you find him in later you can buy all his sorceries and talk to him there. In the next place you have to buy out his sorceries in order to progress his quest, but you don't have to just to talk to him.
On your next playtheough, don't place rhe lord vessel before you explore all of new londo ruins. I won't spoil it, that'll be another little surprise to look forward to on repeated playthroughs :)
For 2nd ring, the most used are: -Havels ring (+50% Equip Load) -Wolf ring (+ Poise) -Cloranthy ring (+stamina recovery but the your shield buff is enough)
Covetous Silver Serpent Ring and Covetous Gold Serpent Ring are great for farming(I wear a certain head piece too which combines both, but only pairs with silver). Ring of the evil eye is still good, steel protection is still good, both stealth rings together is fantastic. If you're good at quick menu-ing, you can put on a ring of sacrifice into boss rooms to keep your souls and press left face button(square) to quick remove the ring when you recover the souls. I'm a mage, so I wear rings that boost sorceries, though that won't be of help.
"F" in the comments for sunbro. And yes... to answer your question. That was the Witch of Izalith transformed by the chaos flame into the Bed of Chaos. Also, that pyromancer you took care of was one of the daughters of chaos....specifically the one spoken about in the chaos fire whip pyromancy. I'm kind of glad you went this way first to just get it over with. Lost Izalith and the Bed of Chaos are two of the worst things Fromsoft has ever created, and I am not the only person with this sentiment. You though are, as always, entertaining. Excited to see which way you go next episode.
Hey Wugg. One more amazing gameplay. Loving every minute. "Ooooowwww gotcha" Here goes the hints lol: To go to the lord vessel place, you can jump inside the hole. You don't need to be eaten by Frampt. The ring to equip and go to Anor Londo bonfire it's on a place that you didn't visit yet. If you hold down while selection your items, it goes directly to the flasks. Try to pop some humanity, at least 10 as it will increase some of your attributes. Unfortunately you got the Solaire bad ending and yes you can avoid it but there's no hint of how to do it. Don't forget to go back to BlightTown and explore the tree branches on the left side and Anor Londo in the big hall before the OS fight you might find a new path with something really good and more thing with Gwynevere (a knife or an arrow). Logan doesn't speak with you because you don't have enough INT status to learn his magic. Cheers!!!
Don't jump into Frampt's hole, please. He may become upset with you and you can't sell items or crush titanite anymore(crush green titanite for 3 small regular titanite). I like to encourage Wuggs to level his humanity, but there's not much for him to grind for, and two of the next three routes will likely take away all those sweet, sweet humanities. Personally, I steal as much humanity as I can and buy out the pardoner's rings of sacrifice to keep human and play online a lot.
I also wanted to say about the thing he missed in Anor Londo. A spoiler below about pyromancy. I add that he said "no" to the pyromancer guy is bad. And because of that and that he killed the infected guy by the White Lady, he locked himself out of pyromancy progression. He can't meet Quelana because he can't upgrade the flame, and because he beat Bed of Chaos before meeting her. And that's only three people in the game who can upgrade the flame and sell pyromancy.
Omg this episode...this episode just broke me in 25 pieces :((((( First of all, it nice to see you rolling and dishing up everything in demon ruins, I was so proud of you finally getting good at game... you soled Ceasaless, then soled Demon Firesage then Centipede... that was fire man. And I just love the way you play this game dude, paying attention to every detail and even reading everything with a cool rpg music xD. But then... omg... Sunbro... in the final we finally discover... that he wasn't a powerful being at all or had some sort of royal blood from the royalty or even the Gods ... he was just a normal guy, that trained himself to the limit and went trought any kind of shit, just to help people. He is that guy that in an apocalypse world somehow manage to unify the people around him and show hope for the living, like Rick from The Walking Dead... he is someone that we just wanna pick him up and somehow protect it.. He is the definition of a brillant star, but not because he has some kind of power, it's just because he have a very good energy, even while everyone is going hollow in this ugly world and everything is fading to ashes... I was so deeply immersed in the video that when I noticed, you already has killed him... you killed Solaire in the moment you defeated that ugly Centipede Demon and went to the bonfire that you find him depressed. But this is not the end, ma fellow comrade. He died, he droped his gear... but hey man, his strong will remains in our hearth. And of course this is not the correct final for Solaire of Astora... I did the same thing in the first time I've played, so don't punish yourself so much! You can save him in the next time... just... unlock that door giving the humanities to the Fair Lady and after kill that shit ugly ass maggot before going to fight Centipede Demon, and maybe you can have him with you until the very end... and yes he is a true bro man, cuz he helps you from the Gargoyles, that are one of the very first bosses in the game, up to Gwyn the last boss. Solaire is a true Chad, going in his own way, fighting everything in the path from the start to the end of the game and serves as a hope beacon to all players that suffered in this game. Imagine me, playing this 12 years ago, without any wikipedia or guide, just trying my own methods to accomplish victory, and finding this kind guy that offered me a hand and helped me, showing me that I can do it! He saved my ass so many times that u even don't imagine...
Great tribute to Sunbro. Another LP I watched did something similar. One of the few bright spots in this bleak game. There actually is a way to save him but it's impossible to know how without a guide.
all good wuggs and you know how you saw the big door nexto the boss when you go down the tree rute. Basically that door you need to give 30 humanity to the sister of chaos and then that door will open. It’s optional and basically it’s a way to continue sun bros quest line and by not opening the door it will save him and stop him from going insane
Sunbro was looking for the Sun, but found the thing on his head instead. It also produces light and made him go craxy. The only way to have prevented this was to have killed that thing before Sunbro could meet it. To do that you would have had to have opened the shortcut by giving humanities to Quelaags sister.
Did you catch that the Orange Charred Ring is speaking about Ceaseless Discharge? He's the younger brother to the Daughters of Izalith. He was cursed at birth with sores that spew lava, the 'ceaseless discharge' that causes his perpetual torment. The ring was a gift from his sisters to ease his pain. He lost the ring and the ring itself became the Centipede Demon. When we find him, he's clinging to the cliff, suffering alone, gazing at (what he believes to be) the corpse of his sister, Quelana. Is he finding comfort in her presence? He only aggros on you when you desecrate her body and steal her robes. There's more you can learn about Quelana, so I'll leave that alone for now. But I'll just say the entire family of Izalith is tragic and also provides some of the best lore and world-building in the series. With no spoilers, there is a moment much, much, much later where we will revisit this story, and it's a fairly obscure secret, so I will make sure you find it when it's time.
Actually had me tearing up at the Solaire death and tribute. Out of all the games From have made, he still might be the most iconic companion/character all these years later.
Dude you kicked ass this episode! Two first try boss kills! Nice work. Usually people beat Ceaseless Discharge using a particular cheese method but... you found your own cheese on accident! Got him stuck in an attack loop. I'm not gonna lie I cried a lil bit when you didn't pick up your 16k souls and then dove into the lava near the beginning LOL. Weekly spoiler-free tip: Your stats are starting to get up there. Be aware that some stats have soft-caps, where you start getting diminishing returns once you reach them. I won't spoil any particular caps, but I'd say just pay attention to how much of each stats you're getting every time you level up so you can spend your points effectively. ;)
Late again, but here we are! 12:58 Damn, I didn't even considered killing ceaseless from this position, it's actually pretty decent, he didn't used any of their combo attacks...years and still learning how to dark souls... Great job killing him the legit way, most people "cheese" him into jumping out of the cliff, I personally don't like it, gotta kill all bosses the legit way. 23:00 Havel's ring: Am I a joke to you? Excellent job dealing with the Capras and Taurus, you learned a lot, methodically approaching an enemy, retreating only when having opportunity, looking for openings...And trust me, I watched A LOT of different small, medium and big content creators trying out dark souls and could count in one hand and still have fingers left the amount of times I made this kind of compliment. 41:40 It's not poison, it's actually acid, it quickly deteriorates your entire equipment. 54:40 Just keep in mind that while all stats cap at 99, most of them have a "soft cap" in which the bonuses you get by leveling up that stat decreses A LOT, so it's a good idea try not put a stat too far from the rest, and keep a close look at your damage every time you lv up. 1:00:00 Murphy law is a b*tch, he read pretty much all items in the game, even the most useless, but when reading an item will explain everything...He misses it xD 1:51:38 Hahahahaha, I love when that happens 2:02:30 Well...How can I say this? You literally is too stupid to comprehend what he teaches xD, you need to have a X number of intelligence points to speak with logan.
You did it again, bro. Great episode and you've conquered what is, to me, the worst bit of the entire game. The Bed of Chaos is a pain but you got there surprisingly quickly. Don't forget about the sunlight maggot, although it's acquisition is tinged with sadness, it is also super useful when things get dark.
In the battle with Ceaseless there is a small peculiarity. If after taking the item you return to the fog, the boss will jump to you, grab the column and hang. If you hit his hand a couple of times after this, he will fall into the pit and die.
Well, you don't need 30 humanity any more. Don't feel too bad -- it would require incredible luck to succeed at either of the main NPC quest on a blind first play through. TRIVIA: The Bed of Chaos (aka, Bed of BS) is the only boss that Miyazaki actually apologized for.
so. finally. I've just finished my own ,so i can watch yours till the end))) i don't know how much content i missed. started ng+, they beated my ass)))
some minor non spoiler lore drop for you to forget the bed of chaos lol In the heretical ruins of Izalith the mutated followers of the witch still fight for their queen, and the second flame-the chaos flame, only able to create parasitic life and requiring the constant inductions of true life to bolster the demon ranks, thus leading to the war many ages ago with anor londo who need the souls to feed the first flame. ceaseless discharge is the mutated infantile son of the witch, born male he is unable to take the flame within himself and so was granted a ring that would stave off the lava boils that grew on his body, if only he hadn't dropped it. he yearns for the return of his sister who cowardly waits just by the entrance of quelaggs domain, concealed to those who do not possess a strong enough pyromancy flame, too scared to confront her family and too scared to leave. the hubris of man creating life would be too much for the witch to contain forever and she's said to have been burnt worst of all.
minor spoiler since you are past the point of no return on both of these tidbits. So if you offer 30 humanity to the fair lady's covenant you can open that demon ruins door before you enter lost izalith (opens from the other side). You can destroy the sunlight maggots and save Solaire. You will still meet him there later, but he will not be attacked by the maggots if you cleared them out beforehand using this method. How you experienced it is the more natural progression of the quest for a first playthrough, though. RIP sunbro. You can also progress Siegmeyer's quest (Onion head) in the area with those big mouth demons in the swamp, but you need to talk with him in blightown before you went to lost izalith. Easy to miss!
He failed the quest for onion bro, because he killed all 4 chaos eaters in the pit before the onion bro came, these 4 don't respawn and onion bro needs to get into the fight and have more than half hp at the end and have Siglind's quest progressed to meet him and Siglind one final time. I failed it that way in my playthrough.
'All these souls and no real items sucks' 'Thank you for the souls, Miyazaki' Had me dead haha. Some of those, like the Soul of a Hero that gives you 20k souls. I, and I think most others, basically use them when I almost have enough to level up and pop one to just take me over the line, or when I die and need to repair and have 0 souls, like you in the video. Entertaining as ever, enjoying every minute of this playthrough so far and glad to see the community showing up with the comments 😁 Also, don't worry, I've got the platinum on this game and I found myself stuck down the hole trying to find the branch to get out for a good half an hour on my last playthrough. Place just disorientates the hell out of me.
Surprised you didn’t go to Duke Archives first seeing as that’s the gold gate you encountered earlier. Regardless, best to get the “worst” boss in the game out of the way.
Wow, good job on the Bed of Chaos! A couple of the lategame areas show how rushed they were, but nothing is anywhere close to as insultingly bad as Third Copy of Asylum Demon, Dragonbutt Lake and "Whoops, all death holes!" - The Bossfight... It's only uphill from here!
Nice one doing the entire demon ruins with so much ease, it's a struggle for everyone. I too want to cheer the decision of mixing more your armor to something more convenient. I've realized that you take your time reading the description of the items but not the stats or what they can offer. Also I'd like to give a few small recommendations if you allow me. Don't worry, I won't spoil a thing, it's just basic gameplay mechanics. You seem to always welcome tips from your community. I also take care to do as less backseat as possible: - I highly recommend you to give some spells a try. It's a very common mistake when playing blind that casting spells would make you less of a warrior. In this game this is absolutely not the case. As you have already seen there's sorceries (scaling with intelligence), miracles (scaling with faith) and pyromancies (which are absolutely free). Since pyromancies doesn't require anything from the player to cast them they automatically become available tools to choose at any given time. This is specially useful if you don't wanna spend your resources you would spend on your melee build. Even for sorceries and miracles there are some that can be casted with the starting stats or many others that don't scale at all. - Don't be afraid of trying new weapons and expand your arsenal. Different weapons work on different situations, this also applies for the different kind of ascencions. It is generally a good idea to upgrade different weapons with the materials you won't use anymore on your uchigatana (like the smaller shards). Then apply different kind of embers on those new weapons. Trying new weapons doesn't mean you will have to forget about the uchigatana. - The ascension system is very confusing and quite user-unfriendly. Any kind of ascension changes different aspects of a weapon and none are stronger than others. Unintuitively a fire weapon isn't better or worse than a regular weapon, it's just fire. Maybe this was already explain to you by other people, but when you ascend it takes the weapon to +0 (like what happened when you upgraded it to raw). This DOES NOT mean it has been rolled back! They have the same power level as a +5 regular weapon. It's such a weird mechanic I would strongly recommend you ask more people about the details of this intricate system. - Also if you want to start to make use of the boss souls you can take a look at the giant blacksmith. But keep in mind that this mechanic is even more obscure of what I mentioned earlier. It would be amazed if you figure out how it works by bourself, so I would also encourage you to ask more about that.
@@Wuggernaut Nice to see how much you dedicate to read all the stuff people write! I hope you give a little chance to my advices and see for yourself if you find them useful.
Oh no. Oh boy, I wasn't expecting this episode to be like this. I couldn't comments in the last one, I was very sad to see you like that. And now you almost cried again! You're so kind and noble in reactions, that I hope you get lots of hugs to overcome this sad moments. Also, your edit skills are blessed, such good details here and there. Last one was an incredible effort that I don't want to bail out of here without point it out! You'll never disappoint us man, at least I'll be here no matter what happens. I'm sure lots of us will tho. Talking about this part: you did great here too. Izalith it's very tricky, and Bed of Chaos is (as everyone tells) shit. In fact, I didn't hesitate to chesse the fuck out of it with bombs in my first playthrough just of pure disrespect. I almost did the same with Capra, but decided to suffer a bit. I think all lords areas are kinda shit in entertainment terms of speaking, cause in design, lore, and art I love them. But in boss terms just BoC is bad design, as Miyazaki told. You'll probably know by this point, but there are several outcomes to a lot of NPCs. Is just that some are very hard to do in a 1st play, you'll need to grind and have a guide to know. I'm not very friend of that design, much less now when there's hundreds of games that one want to play. But this is a game of another era of gaming so, we need to take that on count. Even tho, it has so much good things that is easy to forget lol. Keep pushing Wugs, you're gonna absolutely hate next areas and we are gonna be there to cheer lmao. Ps: I'm very proud of how you are building patience and new perspective to resolve things!
I really appreciate the editing compliments dude, seriously 🙏 that motivates me so much to keep working hard on these videos, appreciate the rest as well, I look forward to your comments on these videos 🤝🤩
You can really see the improvement in your play in these last few episodes. "Sight reading" bosses and taken em down on the first try feels great doesnt it?!
You could have saved sunbro if you had those 30 humanities for chaos servant covenant. It would have let you open the wall from the other side and kill the sun maggot before sunbro got to him. Saving him from going hollow, but not from sadness that he can't find the sun. Tragic ending either way. At least you have light for one location that is very dark.

You are doing a lot better than I remember doing the first time. I got it on release and I recall that, back then, it was thought that you either played heavy armored up with a shield or you played light and dodged. We didn't really have YT back then so I think we were all still slow to understand i-frames, etc. since it was only the 2nd game (after Demon's Souls). I played heavy, focusing on parries and backstabs, so didn't really learn dodge until my 3rd playthrough (NG+). This was one of the first games to have that game mechanic - at least for me it was. Maybe someone else that played at release can comment if they have the same thought? Now, I have the urge to play again. Apologies for waxing nostalgic but this is the first walkthrough I have watched of Dark Souls and it's bringing back so many memories. It's so funny the things you remember like that damn root getting in the way when you try to avoid that multi-eyed beast on the stairs on your runback to the boss. I was also screaming at the TV when you didn't see that root to jump down on to kill the bed of chaos. 😅😅
Hahah no apologies necessary! I love hearing about people’s old experiences of when the game first came out! And it’s so funny how that little detail stuck 😅
I hope you've been better the last few days, Wuggernaut; I might just be a stranger online, but you've got my faith you can pull through the dark thoughts. Best of luck, man. Now, onto more jovial matters: Another fun episode, Wuggs. As you've probably been told, Lost Izalith is really the lowpoint of the game; Being rushed and having the Bed of Chaos. So hey, the other areas can only get better. Looking forward to seeing which route you go down first. RIP to the Sunbro. Finally, if you go to the Catacombs, I recommend you bring a holy weapon; the Silver Knights spears in Anor Londo are a good choice if you're up to a grind against the Spear-using ones. See you next time, and don't dare go hollow. Edit: P.S: Now that you're much more experienced, might be time to finally show the Stone Knight what for.

huh, I didn't notice where you broke Siegheart's quest. He was supposed to be in Lost Izalith too. Where you fell into the pit with the toothy tentacle guys Onionbro was supposed to help you, in return for the times you've helped him before.
After he met him at firelink, Siegmeyer says he's going "down below" Wuggernaut never caught up with him down there yet to move the side quest along unfortunately. Bummer. Not to mention the whole Siglunde thing.
56... smart the jerk in me was hoping you wouldn't think to move. Titanite demon "something is behind him" heartbreak, heartbreak is behind him. Miyazaki being kind... before BoC 🤣 the man is savage.
There is 2 items in the lava where the taurus demons are, one if I remember correctly is a soul and the other an ember... this ember is not good to you I think, as it is only good to people who don't wanna level up str or dex at all to have higher health pool and stamina or wanna level up something else and still have good damage plus fire element.
That was a fun episode! You managed to make one of the worst areas in the game seem a bit fun 😃 Too bad Sun Bro is gone but he ll never be forgotten Keep it going Wuggs :))
Dang, missed out on possibly the best lore in the game (and an entire NPC!) by placing the lordvessel before finishing New Londo. And the reason the gold-hemmed black set has so much defense for its weight is because you can't upgrade it, so that's as good as it's ever going to get. It's funny, when I saw those Capra Demons on my first playthrough, I also saw that there was a bonfire below them and the drop probably wouldn't kill me, so I just went for it. I'm actually surprised how many people kill them.
@@orangoutan8727 Definitely some people have done it. Notice Wugs killed himself after getting the Lordvessel. If he had only chosen to explore one of the remaining places and that place had been New Londo, he would have wandered upon it organically. Yes, probably not many people do it, but another way of looking at it is that most people who are steadfastly committed to a blind playthrough will outright fuck up all kinds of things because of the way the game's designed. Like imagine someone starting a new game as a pyromancer. The following is easily conceivable: - they find Laurentius, buy a few spells and maybe level their flame to +5 or something - they go down to Blighttown, see a player message about the illusory wall, kill Eingyi because he looks like an enemy obstructing their path, then join Chaos Servant and get that pyromancy -they go back to Firelink and say "Yes" to Laurentius Congrats to them, they are now completely screwed out of ever upgrading their flame again and using the build they wanted to use effectively, and they regequit, all because some prick told 'em they had to play blind to get the "true" Dark Souls experience. (And note that even Miyazaki has talked about his fond memories of sharing information with other players in games, and that's why he included things like online messages, phantoms, and bloodstains. Also note that Dark Souls 3 is far more forgiving in terms of ways you can screw yourself over (about the only thing I can think of is that you can pretty easily screw yourself out of the Londor storyline, but if you do, you're also locked out of the Lord of Hollows ending, unlike in DS1 where you can miss Kaathe but still get his ending and not know what's going on). It's almost as if FromSoftware themselves came to see the ways you can trap yourself as flaws. And lastly, I ought to mention that not many content creators do NG+ playthroughs. So a gentle, spoiler-free hint as to where they can find more content seems warranted.
@@orangoutan8727 luke when he did his first playthrough on outsidextra did it new Londo first so never met Frampt, he also did it blind but unfortunately only has three videos on it, undead burg, blighttown and then gwyn and some ng+
Fact about Lost Izalith and the Bed of chaos: when this game was close to being at it´s release date they were behind schedule so they rushed the last few pieces of the game. those last few pieces where Lost Izalith and Bed of Chaos (which is espeically evident considering that the bed of chaos has 5 HP). I heared (althogh i can´t confirm it) that this area and boss was so badly received that they had to publicly apologize for it. and from that poinit on whenever they are behind schedule they make a public announcement of it and so far people where always perfectly fine with them taking longer (likely cause they think back at bed of chaos and don´t want something like that to happen again)
I was dreading this section. If I recall, there was a way to change Solaire's fate. It had something to do w/ those bugs around him. Too late ofc. He'll be missed.
Yes, you can either feed Quelana 30 humanity (so need any longer, Wuggs ;) Or, you can kill the maggot by spraying poison mist through the door the first time you go there, and while sunbro is at an earlier stage in his questline.

Miyazaki on the Bed of Chaos, from a Design Works interview:
"That's the truth, there were quite a few [bosses who gave us trouble], when deadlines were closing in and I couldn't get a good mental image of what I wanted but we had to settle on something.

Oh damn!!! I shoulda check the value of those souls before I judged them 😅

@@Wuggernaut The entire playthrough is so very fun! You´re doing very good for your first run ever.

NPCs invade in some areas when your Human; you reversed hollowing, so Knight Kirk showed up.
@1:51:40 I've forgotten to put the Orange Charred ring back on more times that I care to remember.
🤝
Also bear in mind there's no point giving her the 30 humanities at this point, it won't serve you any purpose
@@enzozbestetti5992thank you for the heads up, and that’s a nice summary of the Solaire story as well 🙏

100% this.
👀👀👀 thank you for this 🙏

I genuinely got a little misty eyed with the clips of Solaire. Gawd, and the music! PRAISE THE SUN!!!
Thumbnail killed me. Bed of chaos man. Pfffffff. 😂
😅🤬
I also lost Solaire on my first run. It's a tragic fate for such a kind dude. Always helped and asked for nothing in return. While there is a slightly convoluted way to save him, this is generally considered his canonical ending. Saving him can be a goal if you ever play DS1 again!
Miscellaneous aid:
- The sunlight maggot, tarnished by association as it may be, is a source of light.
- There are four lord souls.
- not aid, but Lost Izalith and the daughters of Chaos have really deep and tragic lore that you absolutely should check out after your playthrough!
Oooh I will! Thank you 🙏
Bold move going for Bed of Chaos first. The good news is, you've passed through the most frustrating part of filling the lordvessel (the rest of the locations you need to go next are much less frustrating in comparison)
Also, unfortunately, you can't save Solaire in this playthrough. He goes hollow in your timeline, and the only thing you can do is mercy kill him. You can save him in the next playthrough, though. To do it:
-After killing Quelaag, hit the illusory wall in the bell of awakening room and don't kill Eingyi (you killed him accidentally in this playthrough).
Damn I didn’t even look at it like that…
I think the ones in the undead burg were meant to dissuade any undead from finding their way into the depths.

Bro, you got whole wugglets running around. No Gwynvere for you. 😂
From the floor is lava to the floor is no more... 😆 Great episode. Thanks for the homage to our Sunbro: His legend is forever.
🫡 no worries at all.
the witch Quelana outfit is the most OP armor set of the game. amazing defense and great resistance for a light load. for example if you had done the painted world of Ariamis with that armor, you would've never gotten toxic. and believe it or not, when the game first got released it used to have a defense of 44, they nerfed it to 30 but it's still good.
but most people don't wear it because of fashion reasons
I knew the stats were crazy!
@@Wuggernaut you can actually meet Quelana in Blighttown, she has great lore about the place, her family (all the bosses after Quelag in demon ruins/Izalith) and gives you a quest (kill bed of chaos). fascinating npc but she's gone now. you can only meet her it if your pyromancy flame is +10 and you haven't killed Bed of chaos yet. people who say it's op never upgrade armor

I appreciate that 🙏 I think you had mentioned this too but I forgot 😩
For 2nd ring, the most used are:
-Havels ring (+50% Equip Load)
-Wolf ring (+ Poise)
-Cloranthy ring (+stamina recovery but the your shield buff is enough)
🙏🙏
Covetous Silver Serpent Ring and Covetous Gold Serpent Ring are great for farming(I wear a certain head piece too which combines both, but only pairs with silver). Ring of the evil eye is still good, steel protection is still good, both stealth rings together is fantastic. If you're good at quick menu-ing, you can put on a ring of sacrifice into boss rooms to keep your souls and press left face button(square) to quick remove the ring when you recover the souls. I'm a mage, so I wear rings that boost sorceries, though that won't be of help.

And yes... to answer your question. Cheers!!!
Thank you for this info 🙏🙏 and LOL that ooooo gotcha is gonna haunt me
Don't jump into Frampt's hole, please.

Dude tysm! We’re learning slow and steady
Sunbro was looking for the Sun, but found the thing on his head instead. It also produces light and made him go craxy. The only way to have prevented this was to have killed that thing before Sunbro could meet it. To do that you would have had to have opened the shortcut by giving humanities to Quelaags sister.
That FC3 reference at the end was spot on
Did you catch that the Orange Charred Ring is speaking about Ceaseless Discharge?

1:00:00 Murphy law is a b*tch, he read pretty much all items in the game, even the most useless, but when reading an item will explain everything...He misses it xD
1:51:38 Hahahahaha, I love when that happens
2:02:30 Well...How can I say this? You literally is too stupid to comprehend what he teaches xD, you need to have a X number of intelligence points to speak with logan.
Solair will never gone, as long as you will praise the sun every now and then. It is like in real Life ❤

Thanks for posting fun content man, really needed it today
No worries. I'm Wuggernaut on Discord if you wanna talk about anything
One must image Solaire happy.
it's the only way to move on..
Solaire taking part in jolly cooperation
Every time he said he is missing something and just got the Lava protection ring :)
In the battle with Ceaseless there is a small peculiarity. If after taking the item you return to the fog, the boss will jump to you, grab the column and hang. If you hit his hand a couple of times after this, he will fall into the pit and die.
Good choice getting this one outa the way. There was a lot of potential in this zone that unfortunately was lost due to budget and deadlines, sadly.
Helluva an episode brother, helluva an episode. Great boss progress today! I'll try to post the attempts list in Discord tonight
Oooh thank you!
That’s pretty cool he did that
so. finally. I've just finished my own ,so i can watch yours till the end))) i don't know how much content i missed. started ng+, they beated my ass)))
1:33:56 at the end of the day the world of dark souls is a miserable world to have hope or dreams on for the ones who lives there
It's dangerous to care about people here..
Let's go man im here for the whole series
I appreciate that!
some minor non spoiler lore drop for you to forget the bed of chaos lol
In the heretical ruins of Izalith the mutated followers of the witch still fight for their queen, and the second flame-the chaos flame, only able to create parasitic life and requiring the constant inductions of true life to bolster the demon ranks, thus leading to the war many ages ago with anor londo who need the souls to feed the first flame. ceaseless discharge is the mutated infantile son of the witch, born male he is unable to take the flame within himself and so was granted a ring that would stave off the lava boils that grew on his body, if only he hadn't dropped it. he yearns for the return of his sister who cowardly waits just by the entrance of quelaggs domain, concealed to those who do not possess a strong enough pyromancy flame, too scared to confront her family and too scared to leave. the hubris of man creating life would be too much for the witch to contain forever and she's said to have been burnt worst of all.
Pain!!!!!!!!!!
Pain!!!!!!!!!!
Pain!!!!!!!!!!
Sunbro saught to be sunlight in the darkest age 😞😞😞
You said yes to Laurentis....
Go back down to the blight Town swamp...
… oh god.
1:34:40 You rolled away, but the full quote is: "...Ahh, it's over... ...My Sun...it's setting... ...It's dark, so dark... "
minor spoiler since you are past the point of no return on both of these tidbits.
I appreciate filling me in :) maybe next time!
Yeah, it's very unlikely that anyone would find out the way on the first time or even at any time at all.
@@Wuggernaut No prob. Enjoying the run and great edits! Can't wait to see you do the DLC area it is pretty awesome.
@@лапшичка-щ4й Yeah, I also think he failed the Kirk quest too in this very same chapter.
i watched this episode with dread as he inched closer to that damn bed of fng chaos
'All these souls and no real items sucks'
'Thank you for the souls, Miyazaki'
Had me dead haha. Some of those, like the Soul of a Hero that gives you 20k souls. I, and I think most others, basically use them when I almost have enough to level up and pop one to just take me over the line, or when I die and need to repair and have 0 souls, like you in the video.
Entertaining as ever, enjoying every minute of this playthrough so far and glad to see the community showing up with the comments 😁
Also, don't worry, I've got the platinum on this game and I found myself stuck down the hole trying to find the branch to get out for a good half an hour on my last playthrough. Place just disorientates the hell out of me.
Im not going to spoil anything all I will say is exploration is your friend lol
Cant wait for you to play dark souls 3 which is my personal favourite
Surprised you didn’t go to Duke Archives first seeing as that’s the gold gate you encountered earlier. Regardless, best to get the “worst” boss in the game out of the way.
The way you ignore the lava protection rong makes me suffer in pain😂😂😂
1:28:45 he will never forget this moment 😢
Not for a day.
Great episode …Make it habit to repair all your equipment's at bonfires all the time so you don't forget.
Thanks bro for giving me something to watch tonight! Ur friend from Uruguay!
No worries dude! thanks for watching!
@@Wuggernaut starting it right now! Keep it up dude!
Yeah, by the sounds of it I’m definitely glad I got this one out of the way
Nice one doing the entire demon ruins with so much ease, it's a struggle for everyone.
I also take care to do as less backseat as possible:
- I highly recommend you to give some spells a try.
Appreciate all these tips! I’m gonna try to find time to ascend some other weapon styles and keep them in the back pocket 😅
@@Wuggernaut Nice to see how much you dedicate to read all the stuff people write!
I hope you give a little chance to my advices and see for yourself if you find them useful.
I look forward to this every week now
Me too 😅 🙏🙏
@@itsthatnerdable amazing!
I love the Video wuggs ❤ keep it up and I love you checking the audio I shows how much you care about your content
thank you dude 🙏
@@Wuggernaut all good wuggs and you know how you saw the big door nexto the boss when you go down the tree rute. Basically that door you need to give 30 humanity to the sister of chaos and then that door will open. It’s optional and basically it’s a way to continue sun bros quest line and by not opening the door it will save him and stop him from going insane
@@Wuggernaut well basically I just saw you find out that sun bro was on the other side of the door. So basically you could of stoped him and continued his quests and stop him from going insane I have never tried but maybe if you go back to the sin dude before the bell gargoyle he might fix it idk
I cant wait to see the drops of when wuggs get spoilers about side quests going into ng+ 😅
FYI - you can just yeet yourself down frampts hole. You'll land softly from magic, no snake mouth needed.
Now, onto more jovial matters:
Another fun episode, Wuggs.
@@Chimeratech_O.D. 👀👀👀 and I appreciate the kind words Chrimera , I’m seriously glad you’ve been with me so long on this journey so far, and I appreciate you’ve always been so nice to me. Here’s to many more videos no matter how hard the days get
huh, I didn't notice where you broke Siegheart's quest.
Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh booiiiiiiiii!
56... smart the jerk in me was hoping you wouldn't think to move. Titanite demon "something is behind him" heartbreak, heartbreak is behind him. Miyazaki being kind... before BoC 🤣 the man is savage.
Completely shattered..
Oh man, the dreaded bed of chaos episode…i need some popcorn
That was a fun episode! You managed to make one of the worst areas in the game seem a bit fun 😃 Too bad Sun Bro is gone but he ll never be forgotten Keep it going Wuggs :))
thank you so much!! and NEVER forgotten
I'm actually surprised how many people kill them.
not a single soul has ever done that on a first playthrough. especially a blind one. this stuff is for ng+.
The following is easily conceivable:
- they find Laurentius, buy a few spells and maybe level their flame to +5 or something
- they go down to Blighttown, see a player message about the illusory wall, kill Eingyi because he looks like an enemy obstructing their path, then join Chaos Servant and get that pyromancy
-they go back to Firelink and say "Yes" to Laurentius
Congrats to them, they are now completely screwed out of ever upgrading their flame again and using the build they wanted to use effectively, and they regequit, all because some prick told 'em they had to play blind to get the "true" Dark Souls experience.
@@alecmaxwell1682 yeah but that's just rare luck, there's also some important prerequisite like reaching a famous doggy to be able finish new londo
@@orangoutan8727 "not a single soul"="just rare luck." gotcha.
RIP!
😢😢
Yes, you can either feed Quelana 30 humanity (so need any longer, Wuggs ;) Or, you can kill the maggot by spraying poison mist through the door the first time you go there, and while sunbro is at an earlier stage in his questline.
