I like Celine Dion, but I love Lara Fabian. I hated that, at the beginning of her career, the media compare her to Celine, or even said that Lara is imitating Celine. For me, they have a very different voice tones. Lara's when sing and performed she inhibit the song, you can see in her body language that she is the song, maybe it is her soprano background study. Her voice make your soul vibrate with passion, with sweetness and vulnerability. Once you hear her, you can't unhear her, whether she belted out or sing with an inimaginable gentleness, your being just transcend with her marvellous voice.

I have known Lara for longer than you but can listen and watch her again and again and will never stop until I am no longer on Earth. Even her speaking voice has marvellous resonance. I feel the main difference between Celine and Lara is the warmth in their voices. I have seen her work from the beginning to the present day, and, musically speaking, she has never failed my expectations. Happy listening!

Lara is like the snowman or Peter Pan, she takes you by the hand and takes you on a journey through the song and it is amazing the emotion she has in her voice is 2and to none. Iv listened to music for over 50 years and no one ever breaks me down like this Angel she is true vocal royalty. Even her breathing has emotion. She is one in forever and I cry like a child when I hear her sing, what a gift. 😇💐🌻🥂

When she was recording adagio at the studio in the USA Tony Mottola (Sony music president.. And one of Celine producer) along with other famous actors went to the studio to listen at Lara.. And they did suddenly realize how big and great she was.. And exactly she was dangerous for Celine' s career so they did everything was possible to bann and black out Lara in the USA market.. That's why Lara moved to other markets.. I like Celine dion, she is a great singer, but.. As technique. Breath control, interpretation and passion and dynamic and diction.. Lara is another level. Not to mention that Lara can sing in more than 10 languages and she does write her own music and lyric .. She did write more that 260 songs ..Celine is a singer.. Lara is a full complete artist.. Even about back training, Lara did study for 10 years classis singing ( she is a soprano even if she is so camaleontic and well trained that you barely can realize it) , composition and piano at royal conservatory of bruxelles and till now she get singing lessons.. Celine has not the same training.

Lara is the Queen of Resonance. Celine has a much more forward placement which gives her that nasal like sound. Whereas Lara has further back placement that goes over the top of her resonators creating a fuller velvety type sound. Beautiful.

I'm Italian and i can tell you that understanding the language this masterpiece is even more touching. Not by chance Italian is the language of Opera, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Best reaction to this song, very deep. Ufortunately most of them are superficial with no minimum effort to go a little deeper or at least to study rhe lyrics or the contest of the song, as you did. Check also Pavarotti version and also the composer version (Lucio Dalla) a musician, a composer and a poet who is a myth for us Italians. Cheers from Rome 🎉🎉🎉

Hi, Rosalie. Quite a mouthful about comparisons, singing as an art, and what the lyrics of the song is about.
Despite the history of Lara's experience in her music career, the Lord has blessed her even more. It would appear that she did not fuss about it much but instead quietly moved her talent to places where it approved and appreciated. Now, look at her successes even though years later...it came in abundance...the fruit of faith and utter dedication. She has become the beautiful person who she is, blessed with the best of vocal abilities and skills, not to mention her superb and gripping stage performances. What a master and gem we have in our midst. She has become my personal female DEAR!
Thank you, too, for your reaction to Caruso.

👉 Enrico Caruso (*1873 in Naples, † 1921 ibid; actually Errico Caruso) was an Italian opera singer. He is considered the most famous lyrical tenor of the early 20th century and one of the most important singers in the world of opera.
Caruso was famous for his baritone-like timbre and stage presence. In a performance of La Bohème he sang an aria for the suddenly voiceless bass so convincingly that no one in the audience noticed.
Caruso established a new, exemplary style of singing in which the focus was not on beautiful performance but on becoming one with the character being portrayed.
Caruso is the name everyone knows and to which every opera singer is compared. Those who have seen him describe the onset of his voice with the warm power of an organ.
Caruso still holds the record of 863 appearances on the Metropolitan Opera stage.
And it was Caruso who initiated the triumph of the record with his work.
Caruso's generosity was legendary. For example, during his most successful years at the Metropolitan Opera, he gave almost all employees Christmas presents.
His sense of humor was also famous. Again and again he joked with his stage colleagues, for example sewing up a sleeve of a coat that a colleague in La Bohème had to wear during the performance, or filling water in a discarded hat that someone had to wear in the performance.
3 years before his death he married the American millionaire daughter Dorothy Park Benjamin. With her he had a daughter, Gloria, at the age of 45.
He died at the age of 48 from protracted pleurisy and blood poisoning.

Loved watching you with this masterpiece. She is the Queen, long may she reign. A little below on the backstory to this song. Please read and then re-listen to the song. I adore Luciano Pavarotti, and "adore" barely scratches the surface. I am a child of the Pavarotti Era and we all worshipped him, live, I remember seeing him live like it was yesterday. There have been only two voices that can make me tear up just hearing them. Luciano and Lara. Luciano's "Caruso" is traditional, he uses the high notes at the end of phrases to go big. She uses them to go angelic. Her interpretation is vastly different. And in all do respect - molto rispetto - to the Maestro, I like Lara's better. The song is very beautiful, covered by many, and it is about the dying days of Enrico Caruso (the O.G., the Original Gangster of modern opera and a worldwide superstar on the order of Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra combined). He married a women, an heiress, in a very public affair. Caruso died young at 48, his wife was much younger, in 1921. Caruso made it to the phonogragh era however and was so popular that he single handily is responsible for insane demand of phonograghs for the rich early on as you simply HAD to have the record and the player to show and delight your friends with Enrico Caruso. Lucio Dalla, the author, imagined those gut wrenching dying days of Enrico, saying goodbye to his young wife. Dalla visited the Hotel where Caruso and his wife stayed often, the actual room in fact, on the Gulf of Sorrento (hence the words in the song). Lara sings - Gulf of "Surriento" not Surrento - not a mistake. "Surriento" is the Neapolitan word for Surrento, a word which Caruso would have used (He was born in Naples). LARA. MISSES. NOTHING. Beautiful song, beautifully...masterfully done, in perfect Italian. Knowing the backstory only makes one cry a little more the next time you listen to this, and you will. She has you now as she has all of us.

@@rosalieelliottofficial No thank you Rosalie. keep it up, keep great music and artists alive please. With talent on loan from God, combined with compulsive-like dedication, makes for a very very rare experience. They come along once, maybe twice in a generation. Lara gives every single note her FULL attention. She will study each note, message it, color it, until she has it where she wants and can use it to steer your emotions to where they need to go. Everything she does is intentional. She is the Queen, long may she reign. A great test of an artist is when you have heard something 100 times and still cry when you are supposed to, laugh or feel joy on que. Our Queen mesmorizes you and toys with your emotions at will, her will, sometimes against your will. The greatest performing artist of the last 30 years. Lara Fabian.

I know you have reacted to several Lara Fabian’s songs but I don’t think you’ve done this one yet. It’s actually a song by the French “Elvis” of his time (died in 2017) Johnny Hallyday. They turned it into a duet with Lara Fabian “Requiem pour un fou”. Not only were they literally singing in the rain but it is so incredibly powerful. I think I held my breath the entire song. If I understood it right, the song is about a killer and one of his potential victims who fall in love. The scene is that they are surrounded by police and professing their undying love for each other. Extremely powerful

Love Lara Fabián. Everything she touches turns gold. Malade, Adagio, Je t'aime... All her original songs, versions and covers are spectacular. She speaks (or sings at least) different languages... She is unique. I just subscribed to your channel, I say hello from Panama, Central America. My name is Alexander. Love your final comments of creation.

Sony got involved & their was a gentleman’s or this case gentlelady’s agreement that Celine Dion was promoted in the States heavily & Lara had the rest of the World. At this time she was fluent in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Probably, two old farts aka men making the decision. This concert was on PBS, Lara was wildly successful & stupid American’s, like me had no clue. I am grateful TH-cam has provided such a rich volume of great artist. It’s a year later. 4/30/2024. Great reaction I subscribed today, Timothy in Tallahassee, Florida 😎🌴

    Hi Rosalie.
Long but good reaction video, you said so many right things about Lara :-D
I also know Luciano's version, which is much more operatic. Bigbrainsinger (another reactor on TH-cam has a nice explanation in his reaction about the difference between Lara and Luciano), Love Lara's version bedst.
This time Lara sang in Italian. She speaks 4 languages fluently and writes texts in all 4 languages. She has sung in at least 12 languages.
How many languages do you speak, fluent ;-)
    Love Lara ❤
    Love from Denmark ❤

In Canada both Laura and Celine were superstars. We are a sort of bridge between Europe and America, but both were equal until the US made Celine a mega star. That influenced Canadians to follow the US.

Hello Rosalie, great reaction. Lara's way of empathizing with the song and thereby transporting emotions is outstanding. Lara feels the song. And she can sing too 😅🙂🤣.
Lara has influenced many other artists. E.g. Dimash and Diana. She not only impresses the audience but also other artists who are in their development and can learn a lot from her.
The most emotional video I've seen so far is also from Lara Fabian. Anyone who has seen this will not forget it - I promise.

By the way, Rosalie, was "Resonant" the word you were looking for ?
She is known to be the Queen of resonance: her resonance is consistent across most of her ramge as opposed to most others who are only resonant on a small portion of it.
She is nicknamrd The Ring for this reason.

You may find whatever vocal similarities you like between these two creatures. One similarity you will never find is about their characters. Lara's honest childish heart has nothing to do with cold as ice Celine. She did everything she could through her rich husband and Sony Music to block Lara's career in USA. And she succeeded. And she never felt any regret for this brutality. Because of that and a tragic love story Lara came very close to suicidal thoughts. First time I run into you but I subscribed my dear. Because you deserve it

Her mother died a few years ago from Lewy's Dementia. She wrote a beautiful song about the reality of this illness, in French, called L'Oubli (The Forgetting).
I hope you can translate that 😀

      @musicfromtheheart100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Oh, I didn't know that about her mother. So sad. I'll have to look for the song because, sadly, in a way I can relate to it. With my French not being as good as I'd like it to be, I had to translate the part where you quoted Lara and this is what I got, I hope it is accurate enough: "We have a strong bond, and in this link, a sharing that makes us unique... I feel in my being that I have to tell you this moment of my life, which is without a doubt, the most painful of all those I have lived to date".
"If I share it with you, it is because I would not want things to be said other than with dignity. So, without distortion, I write to you, from my broken heart... My mom just left us. Her soul came to hug me one last time last night"
      Thank you for your comment.
