Yeah, the absurd price seems to be this thing's undoing, same with the Razer one. For about the same price as a Steam Deck which can play full PC games, along with emulating anything these can and then some, AND it can stream games, AND it can be used as a full desktop PC, these things can only play mobile phone games, emulators, or stream games...which the phone you already own can do. Once these things inevitably flop and you can scoop em up for half-off they might be okay as a dedicated emulation station but beyond that there's no appeal here.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 Building it for such a low price is just impossible. A basic 720p/Snapdragon 400 tablet these days are close to $100. Maybe they could hit $200, but even that would be hard considering how much a dedicated high-quality controller cost.
As an Ayn Odin Pro and AYA Neo Pro owner, a really thing and light Android with exceptional battery life is a different category than an x86 machine. I use both regularly, but the Odin primarily when it comes to Android games, emulation, and something quick that I can jump into. It would be really hard to sell this "instead" of a Steam Deck. But I think an addition to it would be great.
Slick little package overall. WiFi6 would have been nice though it’d add to the base price, which is the most contentious point for this device. Looking forward to the full emulation showcase.
The Steam Deck has become a perfect solution for me. Having large hands, the ergonomics are superior to my Switch. Plus I have a massive (30K) rom collection that I actually use now. I would like to see 5G incorporated into it so I could retire my tablet for good.
The razer device has WAY better specs, but the controller isn’t built in, it’s literally using a strapped on Bluetooth controller. And it’s razer so the thing will die in 3 months.
The 20:9 aspect ratio of the Razer Edge is pretty awful for gaming, especially if you play emulators on it. I have no clue what Razer was thinking sticking really good specs on it but then going with a display ratio like that.
@@mrsittingmongoose I'll be honest, to a certain extent I don't mind the removable controller. I mind the rest of the product but that's one thing that I think comes down to taste more so than functionality
At $200 this would be a great price point, but at this price point I’d have a difficult time choosing this versus and RP3. The RP3 although not as powerful can do enough emulation plus cloud gaming at half the price. It looks great hopefully they can reduce the $ down the line.

The retroid pocket 3GB RAM model is 140 USD + Tax + Shipping (+ Customs for most countries) you will be lucky to get it under 230 USD (converted). For streaming/cloud you don't get access to a 1080p screen, analog triggers, a proper ergonomic design and analog sticks. I will be very curious to see which type of warranty support will you have with retroid, specially when compared with logitech.
It's a middleground portable. Gamepass Streaming is really growing on me as of late and find myself playing more on phone paured w Razer Kishi. Having a dedicated device w a big screen and is lightweight is compelling. $350 seems fair but there is a lot of competition right now. If I can find this for $250 or less, I'd totally get it. Love the design and the fact its lightweight.
This makes me wonder - if Google had invested its stadia funding into launching an android handheld focused on Google Play Pass + streaming with custom built snapdragon powerhouse, it could've easily been the device to lead gaming industry to developments in ARM architecture. Steam deck is great, but having lighter and powerful yet efficient handheld at an affordable price sounds pretty compelling. Sad to see portable gaming stuck in x86 devices, when clearly ARM is the future in every department.
Thanks for another great video! When I first saw the specs on this thing a couple of months ago, I was thinking it wasn't worth more than $99. After seeing your review here, I finally understand what Logitech was going for here. 12 hours of gaming is pretty spectacular, but at it's current price (which is much more than I expected it to launch at), this is a hard pass for me. I agree that this shouldn't be priced above $199, and if it ever goes on sale for under $150, I would maybe consider picking it up!
I love Logitech. It’s the only reason I’m so interested but they have to do something that differentiates this from the steam deck but in a positive for the price they are selling it. Like a year of GFN, included wireless earbuds etc. or drop the price by half
Ergonomics are absolutely my top priority, so it hurts especially bad for me that this just has a few flaws that make it really hard to justify. If it had a newer processor so it was more capable in emulsion/android gaming, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Or if it was like $250. I hear other say the same thing and its true for me as well that i find myself playing more games then i have been esp. since busy. I got my DreaMachine desktop pc, but the SteaMachine is a great 2nd at home and 1 when out sorry not sorry iphone 13promax. Great video! Gran Turismo 4, NBA St. Vol. 2, and other harder to run games that people may have encountered.
gt4 runs great on deck. Your settings probably need tweaking. this thing wont run anything like ps2 games with much success.... it waa made for streaming
Thanks for the quick look! - What is the streaming quality (bitrate) of Xcloud? It is noticeably worse for me on Android than Windows. - Did you notice any thermal throttling running more intensive games or emulation? - I noticed some gaps in the case between the grip and faceplate, was that damage from someone taking it apart? - How are the analog thumbsticks compared to the Switch, Odin, and Steam Deck?
Wow, those analogue sticks are TOWERS! Meh, it's alright, great price for 2x resolution in God of War for PSP though I'd like to see Shadow of the Colossus or God of War on PS2 running. Nice to see Logitech joining the race for the perfect handheld. Great review on a new product. =D

They nailed the form factor, and battery life isn't stress-inducing - two factors that have held me back from the Steam Deck. But for the asking price, the G-Cloud needs a Snapdragon 865 or slightly better to compete. As-is, the performance isn't too much better than the RP3 for more than twice the cost. Edit: And I still want to know why the hell Tencent needed to be involved.
If you’re just streaming on the Steam Deck, you’ll get around 7 or 8 hours of battery. You only get 1 1/2 or 2 hours when playing a modern AAA title. And if you have more free time than that to play video games you need a job.
The price is such a disappointment, I was ready to order one towards the end of the video. I already have a Steam Deck so I guess I’ll just add emulation and cloud gaming. Bro, I can’t stress enough how much I appreciate your channel and what you do for the gaming and retro community.
This would have been nice if they up there SOC to 800 series and the ram to 6 or 8 gig, I’m digging the design but the spec just made it a letdown, I know it’s for cloud gaming but it would been nice if it can handle some beefy emulation.
If you will, please do moonlight tests, moonlight is the only cloud streaming I care about, I currently use an old iPad as my moonlight device, if this thing goes on sale which it will from poor sales, this could make a perfect moonlight device. And double down as a tablet. iPads have weird resolutions and moonlight does great to adjust but PC games don’t. I have a proxmox server with a dedicated gaming VM I turn on when i leave the house. It’s basically my steam deck but no hardware needed. Just a device to put moonlight on

The steam deck just blows this away. I mean it makes sense. Valve is selling the deck at a loss but make up the money in game sales. Logitech cannot do that. And with the deck now in stock between it and this device it's a no brainer imo.
Well, the Steam Deck also have a (far?) worse screen, worse battery life, is heavier and more expensive. For someone only concerned with playing cloud games (local or over the Internet), this could still be a contender.
Yes, I would absolutely be interested if the price was lower. I have a steam deck, so I'll be playing that instead. You can get a retroid for so much cheaper and run a lot of the same things, or just play on your phone.
I preordered the one announced from Razor instead of this and so far i think I might have made the right choice. I use a Galaxy Tab S7+ for most of my emulation (that and now steam deck). The Razors specs look to be a good bump up and I don't know why but I feel better about walking around with a $500 android tablet than a steam deck. I'm afraid of dropping the deck but have no issue throwing the android tablet around. Eventhough they're the same price! I'm crazy I know 😅
I think the razer is more tailored to playing actual android games instead of streaming console/pc games due to its wider aspect ratio. Does seem very good for the price though
Despite the critics, I still think Logitech will do very well with this G-Cloud! I highly doubt the sell of the Deck will interfere with the sales of the G-Cloud. While the Deck is an awesome handheld and my most favorite of handhelds. The Deck is not for everyone and some features that the Deck could run require a bit of detailed configuring to get them to work (I myself had to use step-by-step online tutorials from TH-camrs to get my Windows PC games to work on my Deck). This G-Cloud appears to have a very simplistic interface which is very easy to add apps and Android is easy to configure anyways. And this comment is coming from a Steam Deck fan.
it will absolutely interfere with the g cloud... for $50 more you get a pc that can play so much natively..... and can also stream so all the trouble youre having would be moot. Steam deck is really really easy to use now, and you can use xcloud from a browser. Steam deck will make this thing fail big time
@@gothicm3rcy426 I doubt the Deck will interfere with the G-Cloud. The Deck is somewhat easy to use. I'm actually kinda impressed with the performance, I already have a steam deck and theres no way id pay $300+ for this but if it dropped to 200-250ish id likely pick one up to replace my current gaming phone I use with a kishi. I also have noticed 200-250 is what phones with similar specs are currently selling for new and there is a few older phones with better chips that go for about 200 or so (note 9 with snapdragon 845 is usually sub $200 and likely is a more powerful device its just not as clean looking and doesn't have the nice launcher) hopefully Logitech realizes this is overpriced for what it is and drops the price because id love to pick one up just not at this current price.

I've got an Odin Pro and while it is more powerful than the G Cloud, I think the ergonomics and the larger screen of the G Cloud are superior. The high price tag, weaker chipset, and no upgrade to Wifi 6, though, make it a bit of a wash for me...

This thing would be pretty cool at the right price point. I would totally pick one up for maybe $200 or $250. Probably will only have to wait a few months for that to happen, I bet.
I thought it was 200 and even at that price I thought it was too expensive. if it was on sale for 150 maybe, but most people that could buy this thing already having a phone outperforming it by I mile. So it would be way cheaper to buy a good controller and a battery. at 350 it costs as much as the loki mini pro with the i3 upgrade, whole the odin mini would probably outperform it for a 100 bucks less.

Whenever I boot up cloud gaming I remember how much we take for granted controller rumble. Giving that up just to stream games I don’t really believe is worth it, it otherwise brings down the experience among the latency and image compression.
Steam deck is nice and all, but the form factor on this Logitech is sooooooo much nicer. Hopefully this ushers in an era of more capable handhelds that arent like lugging around a surfboard.
There is a trick to work around the tencent/activision games not supporting other controllers. What you have to do is connect a wireless xbox controller through bluetooth and then any other controller that is plugged in through type c will work for those games. Hopes this helps ETA!
At its price point the steam deck brings better specs and software. And for cheaper, the switch lite brings a smaller package. It looks like it has the best mix of looks from both consoles, I just wish it could run windows and play indie games really well. It looks so comfortable
There are so many good retro compilations on the Switch that I seriously have no need for any of these devices. That said, this device looks REALLY nice. I would consider it if I was more into modern games.
Having the Odin Pro, the G Cloud's weaker chipset and lack of Wifi 6 is a major bummer at it's price point. Sucks because I think the G Cloud's larger screen and ergonomics look like a step up. This outer hardware paired with a more current chipset would've made it an instant purchase for me.
I agree with done other commenters that this is going to do in price real fast. The recently announced Razer Edge is $50 more with a better processor and screen as well as more internal storage. Yes the Steam Deck is also $50 more but I personally don't have much interest in PC gaming. Just about anything I'd want to play is a few years old is considered retro and can stream from my laptop. Samw goes for emulation. I don't really need to bring PC games out with me. If I ever have the time to play something while in out of the house, it's usually a retro game. I'd rather have the smaller footprint and multiuse of a 6" Android tablet
While I appreciate ETA has to keep ‘em happy, I really don’t see how anyone could be excited to pick this thing up. It’s just rotten and represents everything the corporations are desperately trying to push on us. On the plus side, we have Steam Decks readily available now so this thing can hurry up and disappear.

I like the overall design and would maybe consider one if it was around $150-200 for those specs, but $350 is just too much compared to the competition. For that price it should have an 865/875 and 8GB of RAM, or at the very least a 765g and 6GB.
129 - 169 €/$ is ok - but no cent more... for 350 €/$ u can get a "MOTOROLA G200 5G" (SD888+, 8GB RAM, 128 MMC, Cams, DESKTOP MODE, 4&5G, WIFI6, .... )
Its $300, but yeah, should be $200 max...
I wouldn't consider it at any more than $100. Once it gets past that point, I start considering the Steam Deck or Switch.

I got mine today and I was surprised how good it feels! I have only had time to play Xbox cloud so far, but still a decent android device...
Would definitely get this when it goes on 75 percent off sale
unintended pro of the steam deck: Everything feels a lot lighter after using it
I love your videos sir. Just got my steamdeck for 2 weeks now. And that thing is crazy good.
The ANBERNIC RG552 is okay at 199 usd.
I love Logitech. It’s the only reason I’m so interested but they have to do something that differentiates this from the steam deck but in a positive for the price they are selling it. Like a year of GFN, included wireless earbuds etc. or drop the price by half
Honestly, I’ll be glad you get this thing for Christmas.
Ergonomics are absolutely my top priority, so it hurts especially bad for me that this just has a few flaws that make it really hard to justify. If it had a newer processor so it was more capable in emulsion/android gaming, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Or if it was like $250. I don’t even care about cloud gaming, I just want a device for Android gaming/emulation and local streaming.

That $399 razer shud be even more interesting
I've been waiting for proper Android based gaming handhelds since the original shield. They are finally here.

Man, I can't get Gran Turismo 4 to run well on my Steam Deck, so it's wild to see it running great on this! I know it would be extremely specific to only a smaller number of viewers, but I would love to have some ETA Prime help in setting up PCSX2 for some games on Steam Deck. Gran Turismo 4, NBA St. Vol. 2, and other harder to run games that people may have encountered.

I will never put my money behind any cloud gaming service or device. I want to own my game forever.

@@David-ro1sb It's not so much continuous use as intervals between charging and use vs little time to play.

Despite the critics, I still think Logitech will do very well with this G-Cloud! I highly doubt the sell of the Deck will interfere with the sales of the G-Cloud.

This thing would be pretty cool at the right price point. I would totally pick one up for maybe $200 or $250. Probably will only have to wait a few months for that to happen, I bet.
Even then there was some Android consoles in the portable market with the 8:45 chip earlier this year that came with the dock that were like 250.
I thought it was 200 and even at that price I thought it was too expensive. if it was on sale for 150 maybe, but most people that could buy this thing already having a phone outperforming it by I mile. So it would be way cheaper to buy a good controller and a battery.

Steam deck is nice and all, but the form factor on this Logitech is sooooooo much nicer. Hopefully this ushers in an era of more capable handhelds that arent like lugging around a surfboard.
So what you're saying is grab an ANBERNIC RG503 or WIN600
Really like this for a full time emulation machine
I agree with done other commenters that this is going to do in price real fast. The recently announced Razer Edge is $50 more with a better processor and screen as well as more internal storage. Yes the Steam Deck is also $50 more but I personally don't have much interest in PC gaming. Just about anything I'd want to play is a few years old is considered retro and can stream from my laptop. Samw goes for emulation. I don't really need to bring PC games out with me. If I ever have the time to play something while in out of the house, it's usually a retro game.
