    I’ve got the Omega OEM Milanese on my Green Seamaster 300m.
    I’ve worn it for 18 months now and it’s incredibly comfortable and well fitting. I’ve never caught it on anything, once either. It’s a premium Milanese bracelet that’s about as far from being a junky, generic and crappy bracelet as you can get.
    If you go to a decent Omega store they’ll also tell you it comes in 3 different sizes too, which really helps with finding a the perfect fit.

      I really love this bracelet. Added one to my 50th anniversary 300m GMT and it's awesome now. I think Omega needs to make a point of explaining the different sizes of the mesh better. The first time I tried on the NTTD version I didn't like it but once I got the right size it fit like a dream.

    This video and Brendan Boswell’s video about Omega dumping stock on to gray market dealers at lower discounts than to customers through ADs have changed my mind on OMEGA. I was very excited for this new no date SMP300. All it needed was the sword hands to be 100% perfect. You’re bringing very valid points I did not think about.

    I just bought the new Seamaster 300 no date on a rubber strap. I thought the milanese bracelet looked cool but I tried it on and I didn't really get on with it. I really like the rubber so went with that. I was on the verge of buying the white ceramic seamaster and I'm glad I waited for the black no date. I find the no date gives a no nonsense look to the watch and while I don't have anything against dates on watches I've never actually thought I don't know what the date is. Ever. On the helium escape valve I find that its a signature of the watch and it doesn't detract from the look at all. I mean a Porsche 911 has basically looked the same for the last 60 years. As a design it is flawed but it is what makes the car what it is. As RWD says it all about personal preferences. I bought an Explorerr II as my tool watch and I loved it but I just couldn't get on with it somehow. This is my new beater, to be worn everyday with everything. I would urge you all to go to your AD and try it on and be guided by how it makes you feel. I'm super happy with my choice. Its £300 more than the black ceramic 300m on rubber but it's a 'new' watch with a deployment clasp rather than pin and buckle. Also everything is going up in price and in real terms I don't see it as paying a premium for less I'm paying for what I want. Love the channel btw.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Congratulations on buying the Seamaster. It's a terrific watch, and my gripes with it are all because of personal preferences, which aren't universally shared and your post highlights that! I tried the Bond 60th on that mesh bracelet and it was horrible. Some people say you need to get the right size bracelet but I think that's just making the best of a bad bracelet. The rubber strap is the way to go on this model, and maybe a nice Omega NATO too!!

    Totally agree with most of your points. Less watch for more money is effectively what they have done. I don’t like the omega mesh either, terrible fit and too thick. Seamasters look great on a mesh so I’ve bought non omega ones for both of mine. I’m not sure they will ever go back to the sword hands though. I know some people prefer an aluminium bezel for various reasons but I’m not one of them so to me they have provided an inferior quality bezel for more money. A lot of people would like it smaller as well. With the domed sapphire crystal this watch is 13.8mm in height so the case on its own is slimmer than the standard version. I wish they had made a flat sapphire crystal then we might have got an overall watch height of 12.8 instead, which a lot of people have been asking for as well.

    Nice rant mate. Omega fan here, but by gees talk about flogging a dead horse. I truly believe they’ve lost their design team to some micro brand. If you were Omega or just any other brand releasing a new model, would you really price it the same or lower than the existing model? Especially if you have a clear strategy to move into the upper segment of the market? Although the direction of travel bothers me, if you look at it from a Swatch group perspective, Omega will inevitably move closer to Rolex prices while Longines is slowly but surely taking the value for money spot, Omega once held.

    @LeftyFox2 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Essentially the issue with this release is Omega is presenting less watch to the consumer and charging $600 more for it over the regular model. Omega should have made the watch 13.0mm thick like the NTTD and the same price as the regular model at $5,900 or at least only $100 more like the new white dial Speedy is to the Sapphire sandwich. For $600 more they should have maybe upgraded the movement, kept the ceramic bezel, DECREASED NOT increased the thickness (as they have proven possible through the NTTD), and/or have properly upgraded the existing Seamaster 300 bracelet in some way like adding a micro-adjust system or tapering the bracelet more like the Speedmaster Pro. The Milanese bracelet is premium, but is still simpler and less-engineered and durable contrasted with the past Seamaster 300 bracelet. The Milanese bracelet and aluminum bezel is a cost reduction measure to increase Omega’s overall profit margins for the black dialed watch. The grade 5 titanium bezel is more expensive/premium, but the rest of the watch being stainless steel negates any of the lightness and hardness benefits of the titanium. The new watch is like Rolex releasing the Tudor Black Bay 41 with the Rolex 3230 movement to be a one-for-one alternative to the date Submariner but then also charging $600 more for the Black Bay 41.

    I like my NTTD on the Milanese bracelet as well as the NATO. It’s a great watch. Now I feel that Omega should also offer their customers the option to configure their watch so that people would be able to select case, bezel, bezel insert, dial, hands, calibre, crown, he valve, crystal, packaging, etc… from a selection for each model of the range. This would be at a premium price of course.

    I agree with some of this. It is disappointing and a missed opportunity but it’s not rubbish. Omega are offering a Seamaster with subtle differences to the current date version. I agree that offering less and charging more is crazy (or genius) but by giving us only minor changes, I don’t think it’s enough to tempt me to buy one. I disagree about the mesh bracelet. I have one on my SMP300 and I find it stylish and comfortable. Never had a problem catching the clasp on anything.
    I was hoping for 40mm. If they did that with no helium escape valve and sword hands on a choice of bracelets (this new one can also be bought on rubber btw), the Watch community would go nuts imo and the difference would be enough for me to add another.
    Disappointing Omega.

    Omega keep blowing it with their releases. WHY did they not take this opportunity to make it 40-41mm, make the watch thinner, remove or reduce the size of the ridiculous wart sized helium escape valve and make a decent, comfortable bracelet in the iconic 300m style? Also, 55 hours and not even 28,800 smooth sweep?? No date either, which whether you like the aesthetics or not, us lets face it a simpler movement and a downgrade. Unbelievable given that literally every other watch manufacturer is offering 70 hours plus...

He never mentioned Patek can not be afforded by others or anything about money. Most people who own a MB&F or Urwek likely do not want to get into Patek so technically his statement is true that they will never own a Patek. In fairness to Omega I think they tried to give us what many asked for. So many people criticised the No Time to Die for the fake patina and requested a monotone white on black version so they’ve given us that (probably as a reaction to Tudor’s success with their monotone watch!) in stainless steel so it’s a much cheaper watch. However, as you say, it should be a few hundred cheaper than the standard model, the pricing makes so sense. Moot point for me as I think the watch is too big and I’d never buy one anyway.
    PS there is another change, the watch has a domed sapphire like the new FOIS but it makes the watch even thicker. Lunacy!

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thing with the Seamaster is that traditionally it has never had heavily domed sapphire. It has always been a pretty, thin, well built, straight talking divers watch on a substantial non tapering bracelet. So the domed glass and thickness of the watch, on a generic mesh bracelet mean it's no longer being true to it's heritage and what made it so popular in the first place.
