I have this watch and confirm it's a bit awkward to turn and will slip. My Rolex bezel is much nicer however I prefer my seamaster and still believe it's the better watch imo. It is heavy on wrist but got a rubber strap for it a few months back. I dont feel I would ever sell it.
@desireless4092 Sorry, That was meant to read I find my Omega much heavier. I agree with the Sub it feels much lighter and more refined if that makes sense?
@desireless4092 I would also agree the Sub has a nicer strap. There is something about the Seamaster inside links that make it look odd to me? And the sliding clasp extention feels flimsy when full extended... I am much more in love with it now I got an OEM strap for it.
Love that Danny's actual piece was used and he's not afraid to wear them. Makes me feel better about some pieces in my collection. He wrote a multi-part article on his GMT II for H a few years back showcasing the life that it had seen as well. Props to Danny for this video and I hope we see more of them with pieces that have experienced life outside of a glass case or safe.
Another owner here ! For me is the perfect luxury watch, very rich in the details comfortable as my ex submariner but it's more particular, And also is slightly recognizable more than the past without caught bad attention.
Also own this watch and 100% prefer it over the sub. Love every detail including the helium escape valve and the bracelet everybody loves to complain about. On the list for an Explorer 36 & this will be my ultimate two watch collection once complete.
Compared this to a GO SeaQ at the AD. While the SeaQ was clearly the better made and finished product. The Dive 300 absolutely stood up well and I was very impressed with the dial. Beautiful watch.
Great review Danny! I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with you at dinner when you were in Cleveland in December. I very much relate to going out of your usual range of typical characteristics for a watch purchase. Five days prior to our meeting I was at Teddy's trying to decide between a black, green, or white Seamaster 300M. I own zero white dial watches, except for my Zenith A384 Revival, but the white Seamaster spoke to me. Just goes to show why you should try to get hands on before purchasing. BTW, kudos on the superlative work you do!
This is my favourite piece of all time. As a kid I grew up watching the Bonds and Brosnan was my era. That backed by hours of play on the N64 ‘Goldeneye’, the SMP300 was burned in to my subconscious. Well played Omega! The first owned was a fake 50th anniversary I picked up in Egypt. Fast forward some years and I’ve owned the 2531.80, the piece worn by Brosnan in each of his films, except Goldeneye. I’ve had the 2220.80 DC wore in his first appearance as 007 in Casino Royale. I’ve had the NTTD and the current Blue. My favourite, this Green on the rubbed with deployant clasp 🙌🏼
Hi Teddy & team. Great review Danny! Buying two more watches from Wil this month but the Omega is on the list to purchase from the best in the business...Team Teddy😀😇.
Watching this with a black dial and ruber seamaster on the wrist. This is my daily and submariner is a one day a week watch. I have nothing bad to say, I like the watch and know at least 10 people that have this watch. It is a popular classic. It is extremly accurate and a good looking watch only a bezel on a sumbariner is on another level when turning.
I love my Seamaster 300M but here are some things to note: 1. The bezel action is very clicky (sounds kinda cheap when you turn it) 2. The co-axial 8800 movement has ceramic bearings (built for longevity but when you move your watch around you can hear the rotor spin very loudly)
I bought this watch brand new as i just loved the green dial. I ended up selling it as i just couldn't get past the (oversized) bracelet and it needs to be 1-2mm smaller case. Leave the bigger sizes for the PO
I've owned the blue version since bought new May 2020. Wear it every day, any activity, including the gym: lifting, running, and classes. Never misses a beat, no pun intended. Runs -2 +2. I know spec is 0 - +5, but real life is -2 +2.
Great review! I have the white dial which gets lots of wrist time. Just love that contrast with the bezel. However, I've wanted the green for a while and it looks amazing with the omega Milanese bracelet. For the money I think it's the best on the market. Lots of people moan about that tank track bracelet, but I'm lucky to have the wrist for it. Only update I'd make would be to lume the bezel which looks killer on the Bond anniversary watch.
I own this watch with the green strap - excellent video but ‘overlooked’ probably isn’t the best way to describe it! There were waiting times up to 2 years in the UK / Singapore and Malaysia!
I love the watch, but have concerns as someone who is left handed and would wear the watch on my right hand that the escape value would dig into my wrist. Have you heard any feedback from others with the same situation?
The older models where so much better, smaller, thinner, more elegant. Hopefully one day they will bring it back, and I will gladly sell the two new seamasters I have today
I still maintain that omega should offer a mid sized opinion as they do with the planet ocean 39.5. This was my choice for my 6.5 inch wrist but I would have liked the option between the smp and the po.
Sad that Tudor has caught up and even overtaken Omega so much and they cost less. The only thing Omega still has is brand prestige and recognition over Tudor.
Nah, the bracelet is a big part of the charm. Especially if you have big wrists, it's such a nice wearing experience. Everybody that asks for a different bracelet misses the point.
Damn Danny how did you scratch it so much for an year probably not even every day use. I’m delivery driver and constantly reach out for things and my 4 year old now SMP is almost new condition 😮
This watch certainly is a best seller for Omega. But the watch community (and the trend ?) asks for a smaller version. It is a shiny watch, with a not so discret bracelet. Put that on a large and thick watch, and it is too much. Yes, a 39/40mm would definitely make it a true king in the price range !
I have the white dial version. It’s so close to being a perfect watch. The non-taper on the bracelet is a known pain point and could be fixed so easily. Not sure why Omega refuses. There’s also a noticeable gap between the date and the dial that gives it a shadow box appearance. Again, a small quibble but needs to be addressed. The lack of finishing on the micro adjustment that matches the bracelet better is another quirk. I would have also liked a non-display back option to reduce the thickness a bit. Lastly, the bezel has a decent click and turns ok, but it’s hard to grip to turn and I don’t see Omega changing this because of the esthetic reasons. Like I said, it’s so close to being perfect
@ damn thats too bad I always liked the design of the Seamaster I Can would that it got me into watches for sure, but do I own a PRX on a rubberstrap and that is the max I can go with size. That is 40mm but I got a 42mm Seiko 5, but It looks much smaller since it is a dive watch tough so maybe it is do able, I have to try it on I think.
That bracelet needed to be updated about 5 years ago; lets the rest of the watch down. And the skeleton hands make for poor legibility. Wish they would make the hands solid, taper the bracelet, and simplify the overall busy aesthetic just a bit.
I bought year ago green one, because I also hate red details in other colors. Love the watch, but that Brosnan time bracelet, as classic as it is, let's face it, it's dated. Badly. Even omega knows that because all new releases have come with Mesh.
its a beautiful watch but when i heard the wave pattern is done by a laser etching its kind of a turn off. i want to hear that every detail is done painstakingly by some guy with hand tools, a true craftsman.
I'm not a fan of much dialtext on a watch. (It ruins the look of a Rolex Submariner for me.) Here it not too much for me. But still, less sometimes is more.
Some organic real video footage of the watch would’ve been nice instead of just the polished commercial b-roll. I feel like your channel relies too much on polished b-roll. But, it’s a great watch!
The helium escape valve is a big dealbraker for many potenial customers including myself, and will always be. It is ugly, and makes the watch look worse than it should.
A no. Excellent watch but oversized HEV, skeleton hands, overpriced. 20 years ago I purchased a sword hands 2254 SMP, later I added the sword hands blue 2255, later the sword hands titanium 2232, and last year the sword hands titanium 2231. They look wayyyyy better and I bought them preowned for 8K, for all 4. A great set of divers. But today's Omega SMP lineup is an absolute no.
In other words, Teddy is getting too busy with his success and looking to eventually transfer the channel over to someone else in his company while he attends to the bigger stuff. Good for him, but I'll miss him when he's gone.
@@ALL-il1swelementary maybe, but then why would luxury brands bother making 3-5 day power reserves ? 40 hours, like it or not, is no longer the standard. The new standard is 70 hours. Hence, seamaster is outdated.
@@JoeSmith-np6nzwho's feeding you this BS narrative, in what fanboy echo chamber does the size of the PR indicate how "out dated" a movement is. I'm not even sure what movement you think is 40, most of the Omegas I'm aware of are 50-60 hrs. The reason it is elementary is because length of the PR is not the goal, the ability to maintain accuracy for a long time between rewinds is the goal. In this case Omega are able to gain more efficiency than the Rolex's you mentioned. Unfortunately for your argument it's the Rolex's that are out of date, they primarily rely on a single movement designed in the 1980s and only updated once in 2015 with the chronergy escapement (which unfortunately has been plagued with problems). Most of Omegas movements are continuously evolving, and are the most technical movements in the industry.
