  • Spray foam was a fun rust repair experiment!!! While temporary, it WORKED!!! Restoring her factory wheels, painting it with Single Stage paint from Summit Racing! At just over $100 a gallon, we love the color!

You're mom is such a sweetheart. She is adorable. Such a lovely woman. Getting more family, hands-on in the car hobby is awesome!
Aaron's project, totally how I had to fix my 70 camaro in high school in the 90s. Nobody even made a patch panel for them back then. I asked my dad what we could do. He handed me an old Peterson "How to, Autobodyrepair" book, and in one Saturday I had three rust holes filled and patched up with fiberglass and foam. It lasted for about for 4 years until I got rid of it.
I really love seeing all the generations of your beautiful family stopping by. What a great support system .

A Top tip when spraying wheels without removing the tyres. Get a couple of packs of playing cards and you can slot them in between the rim and the tyre overlapping them as you go then mask up against the playing cards, its miles quicker than trying to mask up tight to the rim and you will get zero overspray on the tyres, with masking tape you will always get some overspray on the tyres.

I did the same trick with the foam on an old Mazda B2000 pickup truck when I lived in Florida, it kept the water out below the windshield and kept the water out of the cab when it rained. Between the foam and some thin flashing sheet metal, it extended the life of the truck for many years.

Hey I once patched a rust hole with cardboard and metal foil tape. Then fiberglass/bondo over it. It lasted 5 years as a friends daily, sitting outside, before it became an issue again. Now I was 14 at the time, and we painted it with rattle can. It was a $900 car, with a $200 paint job. As long as you kept it polished it looked good, but it would oxidize quickly.

This brings back memories of working on a friends MG in my garage in the 90's. I had to use the restroom and went in the house after getting it up on jack stands and removing tires so we could do the brake lines and wheel cylinders. On my way back I hear my friend let out this deep growl and a few colorful words. Thinking he had got hurt I run out to the garage to hear my friend still growling while bench pressing the entire rear end of the car on and off the jack stands in anger. Seems the line wrench had slipped off an already stripped flare nut causing him to slice the back of his hand open on some rusted sharp parts and that was his way of working out the pain.
