I love how Ethan doesn’t compromise on how he wants things done. Perfectly good and functional v1 light bracket, “I don’t like it” (makes another one) Mad respect man.
If you look at a dirt bike chain guide the guide is closer pretty much right up on the sprocket
I liked the offset of v1 personally, still hilarious to have headlights pointed at the front wheel 😂
I think you should have put the wheel lights side by side and angled outward so that the illuminated the periphery so you can see more at night.
This thing just easily floated into my top three of my five favorite builds from you guys that thing is crazy
Better make enough plastic inlay. Chain will react like chainsaw
This bike should be in mad max for sure!
Was just coming here to say I hope George Miller sees this thing!
And perhaps in knee surgery commercial
Or Batman😊
This is mad max bike
A race against Mighty Car Mods "Mad Max" S15.
I like how the second half of the video is essentially re-engineering everything they did in the first half. That’s real life engineering. 👍
He still needs a number plate mount. This would be hilarious on the highway, but still quite funny with the implication that it might be registered.
Programming is the same was funny enough.
Thats the way Ford does it. Build it first, use the warranty repairs to highlight the issues and correct it. Or dont. They do that too.
This thing is so badass. One thing I wish you'd done differently: that fork-mounted headlight is gonna blind you while driving... if you designed the bracket to offset the lights to either side of the front tire, and slightly angled outward and down (so you don't blind oncoming traffic), the light wouldn't bounce off the tire _plus_ they would actually be functional instead of purely aesthetic.
The center headlight has to be there for aesthetics, I totally agree with Ethan. I think it should be in the middle as well, if you place them off center it will probably give a BMW GS vibe that does not fit this bike at all. Maybe it is possible to switch the ground of these headlights in a way they are disconnected when you are driving straight and connect when you steer? In such an angle the light beam is just passing the front tyre on the left and the right? Maybe use a small bracket and a mechanical switch connected in series with the ground of those two lights?
I totally agree this light is blinding you when it illuminating the front tyre like that. An how cool would it be the drive it at night especially!
@@chrisvanderhouwen9365 Exactly. This thing would have Mad-Max-Batman vibes for night driving... but won't be so pleasant with that permanent hi-beams-in-fog effect.
But yeah, idk. I think it would look fine with a few inch offset on either side. *shrug
Could leave them in the middle, just mounted the other way round pointing out to each side so they're not facing straight at the tyre
Please, please do more long term projects like this. Watching Ethan fully in his element on these super creative projects is what every other builder show wishes they could be. This is some of the best content on TH-cam!
Absolutely! Ignore the fuckboys saying "is it done yet??" Its sad that its almost over
Agree 100%. I get that not every video can be part 54 of some crazy project, but please keep content like this coming at least periodically. Take a break if it stops being fun so you can come back and hit the next big project hard.
@@jagharingenyoutube those folks have never even tried to build anything and are only here for ripping. And while I understand to a degree, the ripping isn't as satisfying for me if we miss the whole build.
To each their own I guess, but it does annoy me as well
Agreed! I'd love to see them build an exocar. Something half stock half tube. But with that Grind Hard flair.
@@sheldonsshed6335 so kind of Ute like, but more exo and less car?
I cannot believe how capable this thing is! I remember Ethan talking about how it probably wouldn’t be great off-road or really be able to do the rally track…
This is the vid I've been waiting for... Can't wait to check it out tonight!
Absolutely, but I would like to be able to switch off the decorative headlights, while keeping the front ones, and it would be nice to have a rear light too.
It cant turn 😂
my boss: "so what made you want to work at this garage, and what qualifications do you have?" me: "i watch grind hard plumbing co on youtube." boss: " ight bet, get ur ass out there! heres a uniform"
In the next sent and bent can you guys do a part 2 on Stephens adventures plz
I literally KNOW that it's unlikely that you see this comment, but it is SO cool to watch this MONSTER of a THING to be ridden and somehow still feel like i could be driving it, even though it's more than evident that i couldn't drive it, even if i had the chance, when way more experienced drivers have a hard time controlling it. What i mean by that is that it's very cool to have been able to watch these videos for the past couple of years and actually feel like i, and every other viewer, have been a part of the channel and somehow trough all this fame and clout YOU guys as crew have been able to hold it together and deliver us these SUPER quality videos. It's actually insane that trough these videos we viewers in fact kinda can be a part of the crew. I don't know if its the environment that you are riding in that feels like home but for me these videoes are like they have been filmed in my backyard and that's insane considering that im Finnish! I actuallly find myself recognising part of these woods like "oh now u are in the backyard" or "nice i would have never gone that mud!" I love this editing and dedication to filming and wish you guys the best from the bottom of my heart! I'm no builder myself, but i have a wild imagiation like you guys and the passion towards your projects that you project is something to be jealous of! Keep up the work and knowing US's working ethic's work just as much as you need and really focus on these things that you love! Life is too short to be focusing just on money and viewes, heart and passion is the stuff that keeps us coming back! You guys are great dudes!
Thank you for the kind words! We’re glad you enjoy the videos so much! You really are a part of the channel, because without you and all the other viewers it couldn’t exist. So thank you for watching and taking the time to write such a positive and thoughtful comment!
The fact he was running cad without a mouse was the most impressive part of the video.
I have to admit I was very wrong about how rideable this freak actually is. I never expected it to be anything but a show prop. The fact you can really ride it, and reasonably fast at that, is mind blowing. Awesome job Ethan! Can't wait to see it all pimped out and shiny! Stay frothy and confused out there in the woods and keep building cool stuff!
I agree, but I am curious to see if anyone other than Ethan is every able to really tame this beast. It may be that as its creator he is uniquely qualified to understand how to ride it.
@@barnett25 that feels like a fair assessment.
I'd like to see Edwin ride it, I don't know if I trust Will to not hurt himself with that beast 😂
John Wick could ride it. He's a man of focus and commitment. Will maybe not so much. Lol!

Never in doubt. 👍
This has to be in the next Madd maxx movie
@4:56 I guess we got the answer if the HMMWV's survived the journey. There it sits. Congrats on surviving the trip!
I didn't see the 2 door one
@@pc8780 who knows, they could have given up on one or already sold it. They kinda go through vehicles pretty quick
I wonder if the hummvees get sets of tires like the bikes - I also wonder if Ethan has an idea for some lighter tires on the bike? I’m also wondering why they got TWO hummvees… 💁♂️
@@ianj8505Because two is always better then one 🤷♂️
would second HMMWV fit into the small garage? 20:33
keep the DRL's for daytime and get rid of them at night, it looks like that bright white tire will take away from night vision.
I love how easily you adapted to riding & Jumping your Monster Chopper seeing Brady struggle makes you realize if you have ridden a lot of ordinary bike you will struggle with what this machine requires.
I think I need to apologize for ever doubting you. That looks waaaay more fun and rideable than I expected.
Ethan, you are the kid I always wanted to be, now at 60 and all worn out, not having the drive I once had I sure enjoy your builds. I truly enjoy watching the Videos, I still have all of the shop equipment from my early years (15) and the shop I Sold(35) all the Tools, welders, plasma’s, mills etc. making me want to get back at it once again! Thank You!
Do it man!
I think painting the whole bike glossy black, with orange trims would look sick!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride and continuing to show the progress on this build. It might be visually more fun to put a large old school horn, (think vintage Indian), in the central headlight position instead of very nice tire illuminators. Could be fun to make your own horn to fit the theme too. Consider a spring loaded chain tensioner, due to the rapid chain wear. At your increased comfort level, perhaps handguards and some gloves during testing are warranted? Keep having fun!
This build is the best thing on TH-cam right now. I'm always thrilled to see that monster chopper thumbnail!
Killdozer 2.0 is a good contender
Editing, camera work, production, platform and last but not least the sheer ability to keep us entertained from start to finish is AMAZING.
Imaging pulling up to a Biker Pub with it “immediate respect “
Not that long ago, content like this would only have been possible through a large content producer like Warner Bros. /Discovery Channel. This is not only amazing work, but exceptional production. Great works folks!
Awesome! Really really awesome 1st video, stoked for all that is to come! 👏
The lights on the handlebars look good… but they’re a bad thing. Having the tire blazing bright right in front of you is not helpful to your night vision.
It looks like a really rowdy beast to tame!
Awesome vid, thanks for posting!
It would be cool if you had a light on both sides of the front tire. Great job with the bike.
That’s cool. I see you daubing your foot down on corners when riding. Bad habit in big bikes. Remember if your foot catches, you’ll snap a bone, not catch the leaning bike. That bike, like a Harley, is too heavy for you to catch or hold it with your leg while is rolling and moving fast enough to lean it through a turn. Keep your feet and legs tucked in when moving. In the video you mention how it doesn’t hand like a dirt bike. Ta keep safe ya gotta keep your legs tucked in when in motion least you try to stop it from falling and break a leg.
Plenty of stories of guys snapping ankles trying to ride big bikes the same way they do motocross or Enduros. Respect the weight of the bike.
Love the videos. Keep up the awesome engineering!!!
and wearing good motocross boots
I was thinking the same thing the whole time!
@@MarkAlanKing , yes. Absolutely. Motocross boots are super stiff and hard to walk in for a reason. They offer a lot of needed protection and support to the feet and ankles.
I challenge anyone to ride this without dabbing a foot
I did the opposite, went from a F850GS to learning dirt bikes. My big bike I just let it fall and kept doing the same on the dirt bike.
I'm so happy the Ethan was able to make this thing work, when they did the first test roll I was definitely doubtful of weather it was actually going to be able to mob around on it.
This is so enjoyable to watch! My hat's off to you for such an amazing work. The creativity is out of this world! I am very excited to see it in its finished form.
This bike is WILD! What do you think we should do for paint? And talk about on the next Sent and Bent Podcast?
Barbie pink like everything else, duh
do like an batmobile color with yelllow stripes!
Clear coat the rust. It gives some madmax vibes

I'll be honest, I thought this was going to just be an impractical static art piece, like a Orange County Choppers build, it's really incredible how it actually performs. Maybe you could try re-imagining a Rokon 2x2 scaled up to monster truck size next.
This just shows you how much skill you guys have at driving your machines. Not for the faint of heart.
He should build the front and back framing so it’s staggered so one is left and one is right, that way the bike has better weight distribution.
Imagine being a bikerider watching Ethan drifting this monster through entire corners and then going after him and barely being able to get on the road. I mean its not like Ethan didnt have problems with it, but it must be a humbling experience!
I think you should always play classical music when Ethan is fabricating and then disorganized heavy metal for the when the boys are up to their “fabricating”. 😂it’s fitting
I'm a retired mechanical designer and I've been following this build from your first video on it. I'm not a motorcycle guy myself but I was really intrigued with the design. I have to admit, early on I thought, "He'll never get that to run well." However, watching your design process and the testing you've done I quickly changed my mind on that and began saying to myself, "This is going to be so awesome to see once it's done." Watching you run that thing at speed and actually jump it is amazing.
Are you planning to mount a front fender to keep sand and mud from impacting the radiator, not to mention your face? I realize that with that design it'd either have to be mounted to the frame and made wide enough to allow full range of motion on the wheel or you'd have to attach it to the spindle then extend it up the left side to allow it to move with the wheel.
Great test on the rear fender. I thought for sure as close as it is to the tire that it would quickly fill up with mud, and I think in some locations like the Arizona Strip or Georgia where the mud is more like clay that it still could be an issue, but it does look cool! Keep up the great work.
I've learned that you should never doubt Ethen 😁
I worked as a bicycle mechanic for over a decade and did many single speed conversions. One needs one of three things; an eccentric bottom bracket, horizontal dropouts or a chain tensioner. I really enjoyed watching this revelation unfold.

Every single one of you are so ridiculously inspiring.
Totally in for development of the chopper. I can’t believe it’s remotely rideable, make it awesome!!
The monster chopper series has been the coolest build from your group yet.

Incredible!!!!! Glad to see it rip! Definitely another unique build, by far the craziest…. Awesome!! Jumping it on the first run!!! You guys ROCK!
So glad that I got to see you jump the bike, that was fantastic. As I watched the video I thought that if Ethan could feel safe enough (or crazy enough) to get up to a good speed then I bet he jumps. So once again Thank You Ethan and the rest of the Gring Hard crew. Great camera work Stephen, keep up the good work, it is greatly appreciated.
I think itd be cool to see some of the failed projects you guys have made like the "one that will never see the light of day" mentioned here. It would be neat to see what ideas just dont pan out and why they didnt.
They already explained why they didnt finish the original project the monster bike came out of. Short version: some celebrity scandal made them drop the build as that celeb "designed" the build.
@@ivanmarensius yeah I know. It was supposed to be for Kanye West. But there other projects that have failed or ideas that didn't work would be interesting. Maybe it would fit better into a TH-cam short as opposed to a full length video
I really wanted to see the electric motor hot wheels tank that was talked about ages ago but never happened
@@crazymtbrider me too! I've been patiently waiting for it!
It’s so insane to think years ago when I stumbled on to these guys. I thought their home made power wheel go carts were cool (they are), but now this!! Absolute insanity! Definitely has grown a ton as a fabricator/ builder/ designer. So cool. Keep it up fellas
I’m so glad to see this thing work so well! Nice job Ethan, I can only imagine the triumph you must feel doing laps in this thing. You had a vision looking at those two tires and a motor, and you willed it into existence. This is way more than just a motorcycle build, you created something entirely unique. Kudos Man. Love all the work all you guys do over at Grind Hard.
This bike absolutely must appear in a Mad Max movie!!
Add a switch so that when the lights are pointed forward within 10 degrees L or R, the lights are off. And when you turn, they turn on. 10 degrees or more, idea is they only turn on when you're turning. ALSO, it would be really cool if you re-re-designed the bracket so that they're stationary on a pivot, and only turn when the handlebars turn past those 10 degrees L or R. Kinda like how some of our European cars (and old American) had turning headlights that remained straight unless they did a big turn into a hairpin.
Also, the chain NEEDS to become a double link chain... somehow. It's so long and so much torque goes through it, that it will eventually break. If it were me, i'd see about buying elevator chain. The stuff used for the counterweight of a lift. Those are expensive, but afaik, it's super duper strong chain with very high tolerances against stretch.
Either that or forklift chains.
I’d suggest using 60h agriculture chain for combine harvesters.
It’s relatively cheap, has sprockets readily available, and is really fucking strong.
Nice video, thanks for the entertainment! I'm sure it was mentioned numerous times in the 3K+ Comments but you needed a dynamic chain tensioner: spring action or hydraulic. (Look up motocross chain tensioners of the 1970-80's.) The distance between the countershaft sprocket and the swingarm pivot is large so the chain tension will vary greatly with swingarm position when fully compressed or fully extended. Max chain tension I believe via the videos will be at full swingarm compression? (Max tension= when the countershaft + swingarm pivot + Rear axle are inline on the same plane. Above or below this and you will get slack.) Huge tension forces and excessive chain stretch so fast because of the large inertia created from all that un-sprung weight of tires, etc moving up and down. Your shock dampener is also screaming for mercy, lol! Might of also contributed somewhat to the rear axle bend, (if it's bent "off center or out of round" vs just "twisted bend".) Good luck fine tuning your wonderful creation sirs!
This has been a project worth following up on. Mad respect man.👌
Even the engine sounds match the tire size. Coolest vehicle build so far.
One of my favorite parts about these videos is seeing the CAD design because as someone who is just starting out in CAD it is really cool to see the things I will hopefully build one day.
Of all the crazy builds I've seen in my life, in person and online. This definitely takes my vote for number 1. Anything is possible, but this does not look like it shouldn't exist or especially drive so well. Great job. Love all the builds, but this is ridiculously awesome.
Awesome job!!! Just incredible!
shout out to steve on some killer cam work
Dudes a legend. I’d love to interview all the dudes- but Steve would get his own special episode for sure.
You should put the handle bar lights on the same plane but side by side on like a 90° angle to light up the peripherals. Might help a little more with visibility instead of lighting up the tire 😅. Love the content broskies 😎
Incredible machine I can’t believe how well it works I have loved watching this build thanks guys.
Wayyyy better than i thought it would be, ive been following the whole build and never thought it would turn out like this!!! Keep it up guys!! AND GO PLACES YOU CANT EVEN WALK!!
I can not put into words how awesome the monster chopper is. Not only does it look amazing and badass, it also works, and it even works well.

That's so not fair to see the Army H1's in the front of the garage without releasing the entire trip videos 😮💨
Yes! Best part of my Friday!
Amazing video guys, as always! With your difficulty leaning after you lowered the tire pressure, you may want to shave the lobes again, since they are more squared off because of the lower pressure. You can see it at 38:52 that they are not as round as they coud be
I do feel this is your best build! Brother, you can amaze us with what you build. Awesome, and thank you for sharing your world.
Not only does it look cool but it rips.. that is some talent
As someone that has designed and built equipment I have fully enjoyed this build so far. Now comes the fine tuning of the design.
As for you twisting the shaft I'm not surprised at all. There is a lot of torque and grip with that tire... the weak links are the chain and the cantilevered shaft.
y'all are super creative. awesome work.
It makes me really happy you took my advice and put a mudguard on the back 👍 the first time I watched you test it I was thinking it looked really dangerous being that close to the wheel coming towards you.👌👍💚💛❤️
Love the rumble and roar of the v-twin. It perfectly fits this behemoth of a dirt bike!
Perfect for some nice Sunday afternoon singletrack riding....
Oh yeah, I bet that would be a cruise 😎
Fantastic project, guys. Its real functionality is a marvel of engineering. I adore it.
I must admit that I was skeptical about the gigantic chopper project's viability when you originally announced it, but you proved me wrong! That is one amazing item! Congrats on yet another outstanding build!
That bike is just like your channel, just keeps getting better. Y’all’s creativity and engineering inspires me every Friday to go create.
I would have used a spring loaded chain tensioner that tensioning the chain outwards. It would compensate for chain extention and eliminate the chain slaping on the frame.
This build is dope, been a joy to see it!
I think it needs a sprag clutch bearing in the jackshaft. The torque from the engine and the tension there isn't a problem, the torque from the idling wheel back driving the system is the problem.
I'd look at a shaft drive system and some crash bars just to protect the legs if it falls over.
@@robmanueb. Interesting.
You want to tension inwards, because going outwards makes it more likely to come off the rear sprocket because it engages with less teeth
That file looked like the one I did for my guitar., lots of parts. And a file. Cool work. I'm glad to see you have got it moving. 🤔👍

what this thing needs is some outriggers - one support or "stabiliser" could be attached to the front swingarm, the secondary one could comprise a stowage point and storage unit. The outriggers could be retractable, and a suitable outrigger design with active suspension would enable the bike to be jacked up and hydropneumatically maneuvered in rough or rock crawl conditions.
valid point about the regular bike and snow bike. I simply have a 90 pound fat tire ebike.. it's like i can come to a stop and let the 26x4 tires do what they got to do on their own. A regular bike , you own it.. it is meant to be nimble and thrashed. weight versus footprint versus gyro.
