People and pokemon don't eat pokemon. Real world animals exist for that. Humans and pokemon in this world are surrounded by magic that makes them practically indestructible. Fuck canon. @Subreon While real world animals probably exist in Pokémon, it's canon that both humans and Pokémon eat Pokémon as well. Many Dex entries explain certain food chains of some Pokémon (e.g. Marenie and Toxapex eat Cursola).
I think both LeChonk and Jigglypuff were staged trailer encounters, because there are NO Pokemon anywhere else, I don't think they will be standing aroung like that.
I'm pretty sure that Tera-whatever pokemon will stand in one place, like the Jigglypuff we see in the trailer. If you ask me, that looks like the equivalent to the Dynamax spots in Sw/Sh.
My uncle works at Nintendo and he says that the sandwich mechanic is the game’s main focus and there are barely any Pokémon in the wild because they want you to focus on the Subway Simulator aspect.
One thing I noticed is that all of the Pokemon seem to have completely modeled eyes and mouths now. I know that's kind of a small thing but before, the mouths and eyes were just textures
I mean it's good they added it, but really it should have been a thing since S&S, modeled eyes and mouths isn't exactly a bragging point for a 360 game, let alone one releasing in 2022
I'm pretty confident that the perks from this new sandwich thing aren't permanent. Cooking systems that give you temporary buffs are pretty much an open world cliche at this point. Cooking is just crafting and ingredients are just materials.
i think they stand still in the overworld only for trailer / having the viewer focus on one part of the screen purposes. they've been shown roaming around in other trailers, and the lack of pokemon shown in the environments is a dead giveaway that the spawning has been turned off for the trailer as not to spoil any new designs.
I read somewhere that they used an earlier build of the game for the English trailer than they did for the Japanese version for some reason, so the frame rate issues in this trailer weren't in the Japanese version
If that's true then it's proven by the fact that the Minimap has Icon of the Catchable Pokemon in the nearby areas. Also it seen that there were to really blurry Pokemon seen in the Team Star Raid and behind the UI in the Photo Mode in the Snowy Area.

They definitely turned off spawns for a lot of Pokémon to avoid showing off new designs (although they messed up and accidentally shown them off on the minimap) other trailers and videos have shown the Pokémon actually interacting with their habitat and even other Pokémon, such as Zangoose and Seviper!
@@jackkemble566 nah cause the Japanese version didn't have it, and it's footage was better than the English one. There was no framerate issues like the windmill and Sunflora following the player, unlike in the English one. I'm sure it was a genuine accident.
In response to the streamlined combat, there still is an element of pausing and waiting. There's a screenshot on the website of a move or ability (I can't remember specifically) showing that stat changes are still each their own block of text. Would've been nice to have "Pikachu's attack, defense and speed fell!" instead of the classic "Pikachu's attack fell! Pikachu's defense fell! Pikachu's speed fell!"
Yea they really took a step back there as legends Arceus at least streamlined stat changes. I do not look forward to the amount of pausing and text I’d have to go through from there being sand and grassy terrain out at once.

When they said "Now what everyone has been waiting for..." I was expecting new pokemon but then they dropped thw bombshell "sandwiches!" And I just let out a very loud "NOBODY WAS WAITING FOR SANDWICHES!" I like the mechanic. Just caught me off guard lmao.
it does NOT look good lol, on general game forums Scarlet/Violet (deservedly) gets it HARD from ppl lol. Arceus didn't look good either obviously, except Let's Go all Switch pokégames from Gamefreak just look mediocre AF.
I think the Pokemon just standing there are part of tutorial-style, in-game guidance when you are introduced to mechanics like catching (lechonk) and "teratypes" (glowing jigglypuff).
Little disappointed we can't make Paella. I already had in mind what Pokemon would be great for the dish. Other then that S&V seem to have a "happy" medium btwn it and Legends Arceus. So all we can do is hope Gamefreak takes all the positives and negatives from S&V and Legends Arceus for Gen 10
I agree. Why no paella? I loved the curry mechanic in Sword and Shield, paella was pretty obvious as it's hodgepodge rice dish, but Spanish, instead of whatever word you use to describe all of the curry places.
Scarlet and Violet vs. Legends Arceus is the entire Quantity vs. Quality argument all over again. Yeah, Arceus had seperate maps and they aren't connected and we have not so many different Pokemon in the game, but every map is GOOD and the animations, the flow and everything just is so much fun! Scarlet and Violet on the other hand is more stiff and maybe doesn' feel as polished, but trades that with a lot of sub-systems and a WAY bigger map.
I love how much stuff just... Happens in the overworld. Like trading, evolution, picnics, battles, all of it is in the overworld. Adds to immersion imho.
I am excited for this, but I cant avoid to make a comment about the graphics and performance... they're not bad, they're awful. To see a company like GameFreak put out a trailer for a game in 2022 where textures look so low res and performance is so bad at times is so disapointing.
I say it all the time when this topic comes up. Pokemon is the richest media franchise in the world. They have no excuse for having such low res graphics and performance.
to be fair, when they announced Legends:Arceus they said it would have different mechanics than the main line games and the main line games would retain the normal ones. although I prefer arceous, I dont know why people expected anything else
I'm really glad we got a minimap for Scarlet and Violet because having to constantly check where I'm going in Legends is a bit of a pain. Doesn't help that there's only a single waymarker in the game so until you get access to flight it's definitely a pain. I love that Farigiraf finally confirms that we are indeed getting more standard evolutions to older Pokemon. Always prefer evolution to regional variants mainly because there's no risk that the Pokemon loses out on strengths it had from its previous form
The picnics were the big attention grabber for me too. I kinda wish they'd just release a Nintendogs style Pokémon game because all I really want to do take care of my Pokémon and maybe grow a berry garden.

Most excited for the potential for mindgames with the Tera types. The example I thought of: Squirtle vs Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur player predicts that Squirtle will be Fire Tera type, and so gets a Rock Tera type Bulbasaur. Squirtle player predicts THAT and gets a Fighting Tera type Squirtle.
I'd take random encounters if they still did the ! thing from Sword and Shield. That when when you see the ! you can choose to avoid it, but you don't just immediately see what Pokemon it's going to be.
I actually prefer random encounters. It's fun to not know what you'll get until battle starts. As it is now, pokemon are all strictly put in specific spots and it makes a bit more boring knowing this part of the map only has lechunks or whatever. I wanna be caught by surprise from time to time with how older games have all grass have a low % of getting a rare pokemon
@@KevinAccetta Same. I didn't like the Wild Area where you're just walking along and there's a wild Steelix as if the game is saying "It's right there! Go get it!" with zero effort on your part to find it. It also defeats the purpose of the tall grass if the Pokemon are just walking around outside it.

I never got the love for crafting. Likebrather than just finding an item and using it, you have to find several items and then perform an action to combine them in order to use it. Like, it's just extra time and work and it's completely unnecessary.
I think the bit with the jiggly puff was actually a nice way for them to probably address one issue with raids in sword/shield, which is, the teammates AI sucked. But you had to deal with them if you didn't have internet or people to play with, and it was frustrating. So now you don't have to do that and still have a way to get the benefit of raiding.

My thoughts based on the fact that Both Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet stared Development at around the same time, makes me think that they made experimental ideas and mechanics and implemented it in both Games. In Scarlet and Violet, I think had just a toned down version of the mechanics seen in Legends Arceus. They didn't tone it down in Legends since, if it failed they could've just taken whatever was liked in the game into SV. My thought is that they didn't think it was going to be as big as it was since it was too far of a departure from the mainline series in terms if Battles, and many other major mechanics, it could also be why it's not in a typical release Window for a major Pokemon Title... So they probably already set the Mechanics for Gen 9 when Legends Arceus was released and received a lot of love from everyone.
That makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually the case. Hopefully they do keep some of the PLA stuff for whatever Gen 10 might be, but at the same time, it's *way* too early to be thinking about that. Lol.

6:35 I'm actually not a fan of this mechanic at all. The whole loop of Pokemon is to battle, I don't want mechanics that remove that. Why would I wanna remove the battles..? Imagine if in Paper Mario battles just happened on their on with no player input. That'd be pretty lame
As someone who's been doubtful of the mainline Pokémon games for a last few years this great reveal has really turned my opinion around and showed that Legends Arceus wasn't just a flash in the pan. The real interesting release will be the game that comes after this one though as it'll hopefully combine the best parts of Scarlet/Violet and Legends Arceus into what has the potential to be one of the best games in the franchise.
The new breeding mechanic raises a lot of questions for me. What factors determine who the parents of this egg are? And why would they have put it in a basket full of food?
One other little thing that I also like that the newest trailer confirms is, yes, you will not catch Koraidon or Miraidon at the start of the games. There, everyone can shut up about it now. Also, Farigiraf is amazing! That's another mon that desperately needed an evo crossed off the list!

When they mentioned that we would be cleaning our Pokemon, I started getting PTSD style flashbacks of US/UM where after EVERY BATTLE I would have to brush my Litten or whoever I fought with because they were dirty or muddy and that was one of the reasons I still have not finished those games. I really hope it's optional in S/V.

The world looks so desolate… Having had just played breath of the wild for a third time, I can’t help but be disappointed at how much more full that game looks compared to Scarlet/Violet
Crafting in Arceus was to give off the idea of foraging things in the wild… living off the grid before the grid even existed. SV takes place in a much more technologically advanced time, so making your own poke balls and potions isn’t really realistic. Simply put: Legends and SV take place in two very different time periods, so comparing them is kind of ridiculous.
I just realised while seeing the littleos shrink down after being defeated that this isn't just a gamey way to remove enemies. In arceus they said that pokemon had the ability to shrink down, so it'spossible that they actually canonically shrink down when beaten up to hide and recover more easily (tho all pokemon should be able to learn minimize then)
I really like the idea of Pokemon Picnic where it seems to combine playing with your pokemon like in Camp, and taking care of them like you could do in Refresh in Gen 7, which was one of my favorite things to do.
They really have to give Pokemon the Zelda and Mario treatment. Give us an effing spectacular game every 3-4 years; instead of one mediocre iteration after another every year.
Just in case anyone is curious, the windmill and Sunflora move way better in the Japanese trailer so looks like they used an older version of the game for the localised ones.

Finally, a game that allows me to becomes the second Earl of Sandwich. Also the other new features look cool. And I think we're gonna get the boxart legendary earlier on than usual? Oh, turning animations are back too, I'm super glad they kept those from PLA (people would have rioted if they didn't I guess). The battle system looks a bit faster on its feet, still a couple things that'll slow it down like multi hit moves still having five separate animations instead of one long one, but oh well.

3:15 bad example actually, these pokemon are clearly held in place for the sake of the shot. there's a reason there's no other pokemon around, there are developer shenanigans going on. 10:15 when the Swift TM is collected earlier there is a notification saying that it has been added to the list of the TMs at the TM Machine, so that's at least one of the methods for finding recipes. Though I figure that similar to TMs being up for monetary purchase before that some recipes will be for sale instead. 10:40 I mean, that mostly fit for Arceus because of the setting, since it was simply more efficient due to the lack of industrialization, but it's not like crafting is deconfirmed yet. This is the TM Machine, not a crafting bench. It wouldn't show other recipes.
Getting eggs via picnics is the exact opposite of "convenient". If a normal breeding center isn't in the game, its going to be SIGNIFICANTLY harder to build even a halfway decent team in a timely manner. This isn't even touching on dex completion, its WAY harder without normal breeding.
@@Lordodragonss IV floors are irrelevant if you're breeding correctly, you should rarely or never get less than 3 perfect IVs from an egg if you're doing it right. (Doing it right implies getting a 5 IV ditto and then working your way up to perfect stats using the destiny knot to guarantee 5 IVs inherited from each parent.) It isn't just about the quality of the eggs either quantity and speed is just as important. If the basket can only ever hold a single egg at a time and you always have to do some minigame that takes several minutes it isn't going to work I don't care if the floor is 4 IVs! which is most certainly won't be. That's assuming you even have a 100% chance to get an egg after doing all that. If it indeed has a floor that might actually be horrible because some things want the lowest speed possible for trick room. More guaranteed perfect stats means a lower chance to get 0 speed. What about hold items do they work the same here?! If not then that eliminates most of the player controlled variables completely. Which actually makes it worthless for competitive. What about hatching the eggs while getting more, you very likely can't do that not unless there's something like the hot springs in Sun and Moon. Right now there are simply too many unknowns about the system to say whether it is decent or not. I'd only consider it good if it meets all of the same standards of previous systems. Because that's straight up what's necessary for my needs. Breeding used to be awful in gens 5 and below. It got good in gen 6 and really good in gen 8. I don't want to go back to bad breeding mechanics, which is why this system concerns me.
@@Lordodragonss That's how it was before too. Just because you need to be in a specific location doesn't mean the old system is any less convenient. (Like seriously they put a fast travel warp right next to the daycare in gen 8.) You can't convince me this new system is any better than the old system until I get to use it. I've been breeding things for years, so I've been through multiple bad iterations before the feature became good in X and Y. If the gen 8 system of breeding isn't in the game and this system doesn't live up to those standards I'd expect tons of players to take issue with the mechanics immediately.
as an actual spanish person, hearing the trailer calling that a sandwhich gave me actual cancer for pokemon hawaii they went and called their fried breads malasadas, but for pokemon spain they took a whole entire mechanic about making bocatas, and just call them sandwiches a crime, veritably a crime, the last push I needed to set my language options to spanish when playing this game

I think a good way to have Pokémon be catchable without a battle in this game would be to have there be some sort of consequence like the Pokémon won’t listen to you at first, or it won’t come out of the ball for a while, or something. I liked not having to battle Pokémon every time, it made everything go by so much faster. Although I do somewhat understand as to why we can’t, seeing as Arceus was when Pokémon were technically first being caught and no one knew much about them, and now everyone sees it as a sport and stuff. But I still think we could’ve gotten some work around for it.
Even If Sword and Shield were not groundbreaking Pokémon Titles, Cooking Curry for my Pokémon was my absolute favorite part of Gen 8. And these Picnic segments look like they will be a huge step up in terms of chilling with your Party.

i was one of the people who actually liked sword and shield despite its flaws (it’s the atmosphere and music for me) but this absolutely blows it out of the water. it even blows arceus out of the water. i still love arceus tho and hope we get some dlc. i nearly 100% completed it except i haven’t yet got to finding all the unown and completing kricketune and wurmple’s paths of solitude. the time in that game went by so fast and i want more to do in the world.
Hopefully you'll be able to access your storage on the fly too, the same as trading. It sounds like it defeats the purpose of having a limited number of pokemon on you at a given time . . . and it does. Not having the right pokemon on you causes so much unnecessary hassle it's unbelievable so being able to edit your party on the move would be a great addition. The only time you'd need to lock it out would be during a raid on Team Star. The only issue is that it would allow you to replenish your health at any time, so maybe this could be tied to an expendible item or some other circumstance that would let you heal out in the field.
Probably the best looking n64 game so far. fr I was almost hyped after the last trailer, but after this one they lost me completely. How can they release the game in that state with these 3 fps wind mills? The models look really good, but the world really just looks like an n64 game scaled up to 720p, if not worse.
During the Starfall street start screen they showed 5 stripes. I believe those 5 stripes are the Team Star types for Team Star. from lowest to highest. Red is Fire. Pink is Fairy, Purple is Poison, Orange is Fighting, and Black is Dark.

i’ve seen a lot of people complaining about how TMs break again, but i honestly love the idea of having to kinda work for it- plus i’ve always been a fan of farming in games
They had already been toying around with the idea of TMs breaking again with "TRs" in Sw/Sh so it makes sense it would come back proper. It's less convenient to be sure but the fact that you can just make them takes away some of the sting, as opposed to the old games where there was ONE TM for a move PER GAME and it would break after using.

Somewhat irrelevant but anyone concerned about the choppy frame rate on things like the Sunflora, this isn’t present in past trailers or the Japanese version of this trailer. It seems like this trailer specifically uses old unfinished footage from development but exclusively for the English one Also Pokémon will actually run around and act more alive in the actual game as seen in the ecological research video featuring Wiglett. We see various Pokémon exhibit herding behaviours like Diglett grouping together and moving as a unit to shade, Abomasnow using small blizzards to try and cloak its kids from sight, Krokorok swimming at high speeds through the sand while being trailed by its Sandile gang, and various other little things. They even gave Pokémon like Marill and Psyduck swimming animations so they can play in small ponds!
Alright, I'm going to sound weird, but given how critical Arlo always is of graphics, I am super shocked that he didn't comment on the frame rate and overall graphical quality of it all. He LOVES to complain about that aspect. Not upset, just confused and a little surprised.
I'm almost certain the reason why some pokemon are just standing there is because they wanted to remove the new pokemon from that shot if it makes sense. Like it's one of those "okay so we're gonna focus on this, this is it, show this pokemon aaaaand next scene". I'm sure in the actual games, it'll be more like SwSh, or Arkoos where there's WAY more free roamin' mons around. Also also FARIG. GARIF. IT'S. AN INVERSE. PALINDROME. GameFreak you MADLADS. I only wish its typing was Ghost/Fighting which would be the inverse typing of Normal/Psychic. Or even flip it and reverse the typing to make it funny. These games really look something special that's for sure. Like....LOOK YOUR CHARACTER EMOTES!

I don't know, last time I got hopeful for a main series pokemon game being better than the trailers Sword and Shield happened
They definitely turned off spawns for a lot of Pokémon to avoid showing off new designs (although they messed up and accidentally shown them off on the minimap) other trailers and videos have shown the Pokémon actually interacting with their habitat and even other Pokémon, such as Zangoose and Seviper!

In response to the streamlined combat, there still is an element of pausing and waiting. There's a screenshot on the website of a move or ability (I can't remember specifically) showing that stat changes are still each their own block of text. Would've been nice to have "Pikachu's attack, defense and speed fell!" instead of the classic "Pikachu's attack fell! Pikachu's defense fell! Pikachu's speed fell!"
Yea they really took a step back there as legends Arceus at least streamlined stat changes. I do not look forward to the amount of pausing and text I’d have to go through from there being sand and grassy terrain out at once.

I think the Pokemon just standing there are part of tutorial-style, in-game guidance when you are introduced to mechanics like catching (lechonk) and "teratypes" (glowing jigglypuff).
Little disappointed we can't make Paella. I already had in mind what Pokemon would be great for the dish. Other then that S&V seem to have a "happy" medium btwn it and Legends Arceus. So all we can do is hope Gamefreak takes all the positives and negatives from S&V and Legends Arceus for Gen 10
I agree. Why no paella? I loved the curry mechanic in Sword and Shield, paella was pretty obvious as it's hodgepodge rice dish, but Spanish, instead of whatever word you use to describe all of the curry places.

Scarlet and Violet vs. Legends Arceus is the entire Quantity vs. Quality argument all over again.
Yeah, Arceus had seperate maps and they aren't connected and we have not so many different Pokemon in the game, but every map is GOOD and the animations, the flow and everything just is so much fun!
Scarlet and Violet on the other hand is more stiff and maybe doesn' feel as polished, but trades that with a lot of sub-systems and a WAY bigger map.
I love how much stuff just... Happens in the overworld. Like trading, evolution, picnics, battles, all of it is in the overworld. Adds to immersion imho.
I LOVE the trading animation, it really makes it feel like a part of the world rather than completely disconnected from it in a menu.

I am excited for this, but I cant avoid to make a comment about the graphics and performance... they're not bad, they're awful. To see a company like GameFreak put out a trailer for a game in 2022 where textures look so low res and performance is so bad at times is so disapointing.
I say it all the time when this topic comes up. Pokemon is the richest media franchise in the world. They have no excuse for having such low res graphics and performance.
The Japanese trailer had smoother performance for some reason. But yeah, it's disappointing that they never really properly implement their graphics.

to be fair, when they announced Legends:Arceus they said it would have different mechanics than the main line games and the main line games would retain the normal ones. although I prefer arceous, I dont know why people expected anything else
I'm really glad we got a minimap for Scarlet and Violet because having to constantly check where I'm going in Legends is a bit of a pain. Doesn't help that there's only a single waymarker in the game so until you get access to flight it's definitely a pain. I love that Farigiraf finally confirms that we are indeed getting more standard evolutions to older Pokemon. Always prefer evolution to regional variants mainly because there's no risk that the Pokemon loses out on strengths it had from its previous form
The picnics were the big attention grabber for me too. I kinda wish they'd just release a Nintendogs style Pokémon game because all I really want to do take care of my Pokémon and maybe grow a berry garden.

Most excited for the potential for mindgames with the Tera types. The example I thought of: Squirtle vs Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur player predicts that Squirtle will be Fire Tera type, and so gets a Rock Tera type Bulbasaur. Squirtle player predicts THAT and gets a Fighting Tera type Squirtle.
I'd take random encounters if they still did the ! thing from Sword and Shield. That when when you see the ! you can choose to avoid it, but you don't just immediately see what Pokemon it's going to be.
I actually prefer random encounters. It's fun to not know what you'll get until battle starts. As it is now, pokemon are all strictly put in specific spots and it makes a bit more boring knowing this part of the map only has lechunks or whatever. I wanna be caught by surprise from time to time with how older games have all grass have a low % of getting a rare pokemon

I never got the love for crafting. Likebrather than just finding an item and using it, you have to find several items and then perform an action to combine them in order to use it. Like, it's just extra time and work and it's completely unnecessary.

I think the bit with the jiggly puff was actually a nice way for them to probably address one issue with raids in sword/shield, which is, the teammates AI sucked. But you had to deal with them if you didn't have internet or people to play with, and it was frustrating. So now you don't have to do that and still have a way to get the benefit of raiding.

My thoughts based on the fact that Both Legends Arceus and Scarlet and Violet stared Development at around the same time, makes me think that they made experimental ideas and mechanics and implemented it in both Games.
In Scarlet and Violet, I think had just a toned down version of the mechanics seen in Legends Arceus.
They didn't tone it down in Legends since, if it failed they could've just taken whatever was liked in the game into SV.
My thought is that they didn't think it was going to be as big as it was since it was too far of a departure from the mainline series in terms if Battles, and many other major mechanics, it could also be why it's not in a typical release Window for a major Pokemon Title...
So they probably already set the Mechanics for Gen 9 when Legends Arceus was released and received a lot of love from everyone.
That makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually the case. Hopefully they do keep some of the PLA stuff for whatever Gen 10 might be, but at the same time, it's *way* too early to be thinking about that. Lol.

6:35 I'm actually not a fan of this mechanic at all. The whole loop of Pokemon is to battle, I don't want mechanics that remove that. Why would I wanna remove the battles..? Imagine if in Paper Mario battles just happened on their on with no player input. That'd be pretty lame
As someone who's been doubtful of the mainline Pokémon games for a last few years this great reveal has really turned my opinion around and showed that Legends Arceus wasn't just a flash in the pan. The real interesting release will be the game that comes after this one though as it'll hopefully combine the best parts of Scarlet/Violet and Legends Arceus into what has the potential to be one of the best games in the franchise.
The new breeding mechanic raises a lot of questions for me. What factors determine who the parents of this egg are? And why would they have put it in a basket full of food?

When they mentioned that we would be cleaning our Pokemon, I started getting PTSD style flashbacks of US/UM where after EVERY BATTLE I would have to brush my Litten or whoever I fought with because they were dirty or muddy and that was one of the reasons I still have not finished those games. Crafting in Arceus was to give off the idea of foraging things in the wild… living off the grid before the grid even existed. SV takes place in a much more technologically advanced time, so making your own poke balls and potions isn’t really realistic.
Simply put: Legends and SV take place in two very different time periods, so comparing them is kind of ridiculous.

I just realised while seeing the littleos shrink down after being defeated that this isn't just a gamey way to remove enemies. In arceus they said that pokemon had the ability to shrink down, so it'spossible that they actually canonically shrink down when beaten up to hide and recover more easily (tho all pokemon should be able to learn minimize then)
This was in canon since gen 1.
I really like the idea of Pokemon Picnic where it seems to combine playing with your pokemon like in Camp, and taking care of them like you could do in Refresh in Gen 7, which was one of my favorite things to do.
You can finally watch your pokemon breed.

Oh, turning animations are back too, I'm super glad they kept those from PLA (people would have rioted if they didn't I guess). The battle system looks a bit faster on its feet, still a couple things that'll slow it down like multi hit moves still having five separate animations instead of one long one, but oh well.

3:15 bad example actually, these pokemon are clearly held in place for the sake of the shot. there's a reason there's no other pokemon around, there are developer shenanigans going on.
10:15 when the Swift TM is collected earlier there is a notification saying that it has been added to the list of the TMs at the TM Machine, so that's at least one of the methods for finding recipes. Though I figure that similar to TMs being up for monetary purchase before that some recipes will be for sale instead.
10:40 I mean, that mostly fit for Arceus because of the setting, since it was simply more efficient due to the lack of industrialization, but it's not like crafting is deconfirmed yet. This is the TM Machine, not a crafting bench. It wouldn't show other recipes.
Getting eggs via picnics is the exact opposite of "convenient".
If a normal breeding center isn't in the game, its going to be SIGNIFICANTLY harder to build even a halfway decent team in a timely manner.
This isn't even touching on dex completion, its WAY harder without normal breeding.
Just put 2 pokemon on piknic, play with them and you get the egg. Simple.
Leaks say Pokemon eggs have IV floors now, so It will take LESS time.
@@Lordodragonss IV floors are irrelevant if you're breeding correctly, you should rarely or never get less than 3 perfect IVs from an egg if you're doing it right.
(Doing it right implies getting a 5 IV ditto and then working your way up to perfect stats using the destiny knot to guarantee 5 IVs inherited from each parent.)
It isn't just about the quality of the eggs either quantity and speed is just as important.
If the basket can only ever hold a single egg at a time and you always have to do some minigame that takes several minutes it isn't going to work I don't care if the floor is 4 IVs! which is most certainly won't be. That's assuming you even have a 100% chance to get an egg after doing all that.
If it indeed has a floor that might actually be horrible because some things want the lowest speed possible for trick room. More guaranteed perfect stats means a lower chance to get 0 speed.
What about hold items do they work the same here?! If not then that eliminates most of the player controlled variables completely. Which actually makes it worthless for competitive.
What about hatching the eggs while getting more, you very likely can't do that not unless there's something like the hot springs in Sun and Moon.
Right now there are simply too many unknowns about the system to say whether it is decent or not. I'd only consider it good if it meets all of the same standards of previous systems. Because that's straight up what's necessary for my needs.
Breeding used to be awful in gens 5 and below. It got good in gen 6 and really good in gen 8. I don't want to go back to bad breeding mechanics, which is why this system concerns me.

I've been breeding things for years, so I've been through multiple bad iterations before the feature became good in X and Y.
If the gen 8 system of breeding isn't in the game and this system doesn't live up to those standards I'd expect tons of players to take issue with the mechanics immediately.

I think a good way to have Pokémon be catchable without a battle in this game would be to have there be some sort of consequence like the Pokémon won’t listen to you at first, or it won’t come out of the ball for a while, or something. I liked not having to battle Pokémon every time, it made everything go by so much faster. Although I do somewhat understand as to why we can’t, seeing as Arceus was when Pokémon were technically first being caught and no one knew much about them, and now everyone sees it as a sport and stuff. But I still think we could’ve gotten some work around for it.
The trailer did show a lot of new stuff. It’s just that Pokémon “fans” complain about anything even if it’s not true
Even If Sword and Shield were not groundbreaking Pokémon Titles, Cooking Curry for my Pokémon was my absolute favorite part of Gen 8. And these Picnic segments look like they will be a huge step up in terms of chilling with your Party.

i was one of the people who actually liked sword and shield despite its flaws (it’s the atmosphere and music for me) but this absolutely blows it out of the water. it even blows arceus out of the water. i still love arceus tho and hope we get some dlc. i nearly 100% completed it except i haven’t yet got to finding all the unown and completing kricketune and wurmple’s paths of solitude. the time in that game went by so fast and i want more to do in the world.
I like what I see so far, and if they decide put an option to organize the storage boxes via dex number I’ll be happy.
Hopefully you'll be able to access your storage on the fly too, the same as trading.
It sounds like it defeats the purpose of having a limited number of pokemon on you at a given time . . . and it does. Not having the right pokemon on you causes so much unnecessary hassle it's unbelievable so being able to edit your party on the move would be a great addition. The only time you'd need to lock it out would be during a raid on Team Star. The only issue is that it would allow you to replenish your health at any time, so maybe this could be tied to an expendible item or some other circumstance that would let you heal out in the field.

During the Starfall street start screen they showed 5 stripes. I believe those 5 stripes are the Team Star types for Team Star. from lowest to highest. Red is Fire. Pink is Fairy, Purple is Poison, Orange is Fighting, and Black is Dark.
The fact that the text literally says "ham" it points to the fact that you are eating and your Pokemon are eating cured Le Chonks

i’ve seen a lot of people complaining about how TMs break again, but i honestly love the idea of having to kinda work for it- plus i’ve always been a fan of farming in games
They had already been toying around with the idea of TMs breaking again with "TRs" in Sw/Sh so it makes sense it would come back proper. It's less convenient to be sure but the fact that you can just make them takes away some of the sting, as opposed to the old games where there was ONE TM for a move PER GAME and it would break after using.

Somewhat irrelevant but anyone concerned about the choppy frame rate on things like the Sunflora, this isn’t present in past trailers or the Japanese version of this trailer. It seems like this trailer specifically uses old unfinished footage from development but exclusively for the English one
Also Pokémon will actually run around and act more alive in the actual game as seen in the ecological research video featuring Wiglett. We see various Pokémon exhibit herding behaviours like Diglett grouping together and moving as a unit to shade, Abomasnow using small blizzards to try and cloak its kids from sight, Krokorok swimming at high speeds through the sand while being trailed by its Sandile gang, and various other little things. They even gave Pokémon like Marill and Psyduck swimming animations so they can play in small ponds!
Alright, I'm going to sound weird, but given how critical Arlo always is of graphics, I am super shocked that he didn't comment on the frame rate and overall graphical quality of it all. He LOVES to complain about that aspect.

I'm almost certain the reason why some pokemon are just standing there is because they wanted to remove the new pokemon from that shot if it makes sense. Like it's one of those "okay so we're gonna focus on this, this is it, show this pokemon aaaaand next scene". I'm sure in the actual games, it'll be more like SwSh, or Arkoos where there's WAY more free roamin' mons around. Also also FARIG. GARIF. IT'S. AN INVERSE. PALINDROME. GameFreak you MADLADS. I only wish its typing was Ghost/Fighting which would be the inverse typing of Normal/Psychic. Or even flip it and reverse the typing to make it funny. These games really look something special that's for sure. Like....LOOK YOUR CHARACTER EMOTES!
the best part about this video for me is that arlo isnt blindly hyping the game up
people are already calling it the best pokemon game ever, even though nobody has even played it yet
its like they didnt learn from the SwSh hype
people also dont seem to know that hype and excitement are not the same
I think (hope) they’re standing still for the gameplay trailer. Because let’s go, swsh, arceus all had overworld pokemon walking around I can’t imagine they’d pull it back now
