    I came because of The Workshop, I stayed because of Andy

    And that’s why we only have one Willy. Getting four carbs in at once is truely a trial.

      I have to say, that bike is looking so much better now, especially the motor, its looking almost like new, kinda makes me think that it'll be running well!

    Also - for the air box installation, open the end cover and remove the filter and reach your hand inside: you can often reach and set the boots from the inside... really helps if your bike's airbox allows for it! Cheers!

    Andy - a little lubricity goes a long long way mate. A little lubricity is far better than waging war with carburettor manifold housings or air-box installation. A little lubricity is great on wheel nuts too - just choose your lube accordingly, er, um, as I am sure you do ;-)

    I for one like the ending,it's a GS it'll run !
    My GS 750B needed the air chamber plate removing before i could fit the cam cover,it gave me loads more space to slide it over the camshafts,heat guns really are vital when fitting some carbs and airboxes,i was told by a Honda tech that on a CBX 1000 even if new carb rubbers had been fitted you still need to warm them up to get the bank of 6 carbs to pop in all at the same time,i followed his advice and it worked perfectly.
    Best of luck with the final tune up Andy.

    Putting carbs back on the boots are the worst. I have a couple 2x4 cut to length and one as a lever makes it alot easier and dose not damage the bike and carbs.

    The clutch cable should route up between the #1 and #2 inlets. That doesn't look like an OEM cable. So, do what you gotta do.

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah this cable is too short

  • @DogmaFaucet

    The seals for the airbox end caps are not available. You'll have to fab some from closed cell foam. Here in the 'States we call it "weather stripping", the stuff we use to seal windows and doors.
    Also, at about 15:00, that airbox is next to the carbs, not on them. I think you're dead on about the length of those intake pipes.

    Wow....the ending Andy....how could you? On a different note, its been 37 years since I sold my GS1000 and when you held up the spark plug, it flashed in my head like a thunderbolt...NGKB8ES. Obviously something wasn't right or you would have let us hear that baby sing.

    Hi Andy another good vid. I was at Stafford Classic Bike Show on Sat and Sun, I believe one of the biggest shows in the world, so of cores the Basket Case t-shirt was adorned on Sat and Stoner on Sun. had a great time as always. I think you would have enjoyed the show it especially as Alan Millyard had a collection of his bikes there and over the 2 days took them into the paddock and started them.My mate asked what I would do if I seen Matt, I said I would walk up stand quietly beside him and utter the word C__T, I said I honestly think he would laugh as I would and possibly shake my hand. He follows our rift and said NO he hates you and would kill you.Watching you fitting carbs and air box's was torture, I do what you eventually did and use an airgun and a smear of silicon/ rubber grease or fairy liquid as long as there is no fuel in the carbs. THATS THE WAY I DO IT lol.Fitting 6 carbs are a nightmare!

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You lucky bugger, I’d love to see Alan’s work first hand

  • @firestorm755
    @firestorm755 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate how could you end there??!! Re air box, why not undo the mount for the box, push it all the way forward then cut a couple of extension plates so you can do the mount up again. It's easier than taking those carbs off and on again! Enjoyed the video as always.

    Not sure how the GS1000 hoses (trumpets) fit into the airbox but have they been pushed too far in?
    Looked at pics of the hoses here www.z1enterprises.com/airbox-hoses-4-gs1000g-gl-80-81.html
    Are they a 2 piece affair with the hose sliding inside a grommet?
