What he finds at about 9:56 is actually a piece of Quartz Crystal with Fluorite inside. It might be natural or lab grown. Quartz Crystals are my favorite mineral and here in Arkansas, there are places where you can go digging for them and you keep whatever you find. Quartz Crystal is simply SiO2...silicon dioxide, about 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. There are a lot of people who believe that quartz crystals have some kind of healing properties, but there is no evidence of that. But they are so interesting and neat to see and handle and that is why there is so much mystique about them. Congratulations, Tony and crew, I think this short film was fun to watch.
I felt the parts about the couple struggling with their crops really hit home for some farmers. Also into today's economy folks are losing their homes due to increase mortgages, due to higher taxes and home ins. So that was relatible to some people. Lately folks are seeing some really strange things to make you wonder if there are some other life form watching us. Keep up the good work!
Not bad for being low budget. Some good shots and moments, if maybe a bit too long overall. Is it supposed to be campy or serious? Either way I enjoyed it!
Turns out Levi's might still exist in the future. 😄 Some of the wardrobe did annoy me in its inconsistency. It's mainly shots like 33:16 where you can clearly see a grey T-shirt slip out, which unfortunately I didn't catch until editing. Next time we will do better with that
Wrigley has an amazing future in film. Your camera work would be improved with the use of fill lighting. And leave the lens flare as a gimmick, not artistry. Even Ridley Scott would say "Tone it down." Acting, directing, sound, lighting...Look at it this way, things can only improve from here. It's a valiant effort, stick with it. I really liked the character design and weapons of the two travellers.
I appreciate it! Loved working with Wrigley! I did think the lighting specifically in the night interior scenes was lacking, too many silohuettes standing against bright backgrounds. It was a choice I leaned into while shooting, but regretted while editing (with more time reshoots would've been done)... Same with the lens flares, it's excessive, many were just composited in while editing. I love shooting with anamorphic lenses, but next time we will keep that to a minimum.
I liked the premsis of the film but the writing was not great dont get me wrong im not insulting anybody at all just... so i guy walks into a persons house and he not rage and he clearly is a farmer in the middle of the u.s. and has no shotgun or rifle ? and the woman would be out raged that a guy is in her house so the guy would be rage to protect her.... anyway i truly did like it just abit of constructive critism keep up the good work
In hindsight, I agree. I think we even talked about that while filming. Perhaps he would've had a shotgun or some other weapon, the knife and (later) the bat happened to be nearest to him in the moment. Also I kinda shied away from showing too many real weapons as the film's intended to be for a younger demographic, but logically he would've had something around with a little more firepower.

So his alter-ego from the future showed up wearing denim jeans? His planet has a GAP? :)
