Imagine all the explorers throughout our history, landing on foreign shores, hoping to find wealth, land, freedom, hope. How many of them ended up on inhospitable shores, dying alone and hopeless far from home. Until one lucky soul finds a safe harbor, a paradise, or even just a place that is hospitable enough to support them. It takes a special kind of soul to risk it all in the slim hope of finding something better. Those brave, foolhardy, outright crazy pioneers changed our future, gave us new lands and opportunities (some squandered) and helped enable our species to survive and thrive, sometimes far from home. This film shows the next step in our journey, not just exploring a world, but MANY worlds, further from home than any before them. Outstanding work Blake Simon and team, a short but beautiful example of the human spirit.
Not unlike the people who risk their lives daily coming to America seeking freedom and a better life for their families and themselves. Undocumented they may be, but they just want the opportunity to live like human beings, with dignity and respect. After all, this nation was founded by immigrants without any papers whatsoever. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. ✨✌️💙🇺🇸
And yet humans will soon be extinct due to our collective ignorance and greed, we have so f'cked up this beautiful planet because a handful of a-holes wanted more fake money to play with 🤬
@@harrymalik3370 its a bit of a circuit /loop - re the sci-fi books of the 1950's will have more essential content/meaning than that which Hollywood has produced
Hears a reality check. We will not have space ships with artificial gravity, and right now when astronauts are in space they have to work and exercise for hours each day to keep their muscles and bones form breaking down…so what do you think a body would be like sleeping for months or years in a weightless environment..carbon base being are not designed for space…leave space travel to the beings make of plastic and silicon.
500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees C for us on this side of the pond) doesn't allow liquid water, hence lush greenery or trees cannot exist. Apart from that, very nice film.
It could be as simple as a very long orbit period. That is elliptical or not centered around the star. Which would have a period of time in which the planet gets close enough for those kinds of temps. And then it moves back out to the Goldilocks zone. It might even move far enough away that it gets even farther to the cold side of supporting human life. I doubt research would watch and track a planet for a full rotation around its host star. It could have a period much longer than ours.
A planet's orbit can be extrapolated after even minimal observation. They would know. And there is no orbit that would be stable enough for complex life to develop, and simultaneously so eccentric it would be subjected to solar cooking.
And 500 Fahrenheit shouldn't be anywhere near enough to burn through the hull of a space craft expected to breach our own atmosphere. Current NASA crafts can withstand 5000 degrees Fahrenheit.
9:05 my only criticism is showing Earth-like forest, yet the planet is 500F. Not only would it seem unlikely that earth-like condition would evolve. I don't even know if you can have biology like that at 500F. The Goldilocks zone around deep ocean thermal vents is under 400F.
Your point about the current understanding of biology and temperature limits is valid but life, as we know it, is based on Earth-like conditions. That doesn't necessarily mean other forms of life couldn't exist or evolve under different conditions. For example, extremophiles on Earth, like certain bacteria and archaea, thrive in environments far hotter than typical Earth-like conditions, such as hydrothermal vents exceeding 400F. If a planet were at 500F, and if we consider different biochemistries or adaptations, it's conceivable that some form of life, possibly plant-like, could evolve to survive in such extreme environments. Lifeforms might not use water as a solvent or might have entirely different cellular structures designed to withstand high temperatures. In speculative science, imagining what might evolve under different conditions expands our understanding of life's possibilities beyond Earth. So, while Earth-like forests specifically might not thrive at 500F, it's not impossible that a unique form of "plant life" adapted to such extreme temperatures could exist. It all depends on the chemical makeup and evolutionary paths taken.
@@blakesimonfilm Hi. About the plot. Why send a manned mission to physically land when a probe would be enough. In fact why even send a ship to a possible habitable planet. Why wouldn't the mission not just send probes to each candidate and then the manned ship only visits the good one
Plot makes no sense. If the planet she is on is at a temp of 500°f how are there trees. Why are they physically going down on each planet. She would have the necessary instruments to tell the surface temp from orbit

Congratulations to all who had a hand in this film. The script is mesmerizing and the emotion it causes is real. The actors did a great job topped off by the composer's wonderful music that you do not realize is taking your emotions to the full spectrum. I for one would love to see the full movie made. This is quality art and for me would stand out from what is out there today. I have signed up for Netflix a few times and eventually give up as there is so much crap being made. Well done to Blake and Daniel and the team. I enjoyed the story, the music and the plot. Keep those stories and movies coming. I suppose I'm getting old, but a complete story told in 20 minutes gives me far greater enjoyment and satisfaction than these 2 hour movies that they churn out these days. Beautifully told story. I like the subtle undertones of different potential future plot directions, but can say you chose the right one. Excellently done.
How did Blake Simon make such a high quality short movie, able to afford all the excellent talent and great set? It must have cost a million to make, but how could it recoup?
That's very kind of you, Tom. Thank you. We had an amazing team that was really able to stretch the few dollars we had. Thanks for watching and commenting.
this movie reminded me of David Bowies "Major Tom" song. this would be creepy - in a different way, to be out there all alone, away from everyone, waiting, waiting. good movie - which can happen any time a space craft goes up
Extremely well done. I must confess I originally thought "Blake Simon, I thought he was dead and I didn't know he had any interest in SF but okay". Then I realised that somehow in my head I had squashed Blake Edwards and Neil Simon together.🤣
Another great show in the making. Like all those early 2000s science fiction shows that had 1 or 2 seasons about finding another planet. One was a cool British show about invisible entities killing the humanoids on the planet another was like fossil evidence of prehistoric humans on the planet and so on. Great shows that never got an ending
I'll just say that I'm not easily impressed. But, regarding "Goldilocks," I'm very impressed. Everything worked (well, except the systerm)--I mean, film-wise, of course. Great visuals, and the music worked so well that it was part of the ambience, not a "theme" that announced itself and distracted from what was going on. All in all, bravo!
To say that I'm a picky purveyor of science fiction is an understatement This is a high quality piece of science fiction....and *that* is no overstatement. Thank you
Great and compelling short, great and believeable characters and fantastic photography. The short and the music are well balanced. I was drawn in the story almost immediately. Great work.

That was really good - I switched to big screen mode and forgot I was on TH-cam for the whole video. Fantastic work!
Love this!! Thank you very much.
A BIG thank you for this piece of brilliance!! 🙏
Very nice to read this, thank you John. The team worked hard and we're glad you enjoyed it!
This is how I discovered the great Daniel Ciurlizza! Excellent storytelling and filmmaking!!
This is just great. A lot could unfold from this story. I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you! I too hope we can continue the story.
Very nice efforts. I would enjoy a feature length movie.. Thx's.
Thank you! I'd enjoy making a feature length version of this!
Great short ! It deserves so many more views !
i really enjoyed the Interstellar vibe, lonely astronauts searching for livable planets.
Hoping for more work from you in the future.
So glad you liked it! You can count on seeing more work from me :)
agreed. big ups
Oh yeah awesome great story acting as has been said look forward to seeing you more for you in the future
I usually don't watch the sci-fi shorts but this caught my eye and I will say...it was GREAT!!! More please.....
Very well done! Great acting and great story. Thank you!
I appreciate the kind words!
Excellent story, Blake and Crew. So now where is the full length feature? Please.
Thank you, Moreno! I'd love nothing more than to give you the full length feature. Just need the right person to watch this and want to help finance it. I've got the script!
The music and the emotional story line were powerful enough to make the inevitable science errors almost insignificant to the experience. Keep up the good work, and keep getting science reviews of the scripts.
I'm very glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching and commenting!
I really enjoyed this short film. The story was well done, and wasn't hard to follow. I was so invested in the characters that it really drew me in. Hats off to the cast and crew for the amazing work that went into it. Really enjoyed it
This is so lovely to hear. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Wonderfully written and acted. Thank you.
Thanking you for watching!
Edge of my seat from beginning to end, and left me wanting more. Thank you!
This is wonderful to hear!!
Beautiful short, congrats! Love the story, the acting and the cinematography, as well as the production design (great :D)
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I'm lucky to be surrounded by an incredible team.
Amazing film! Loved the little nod at Forbidden Planet and the beautiful simplicity of a good story.
Beautifully told story. I like the subtle undertones of different potential future plot directions, but can say you chose the right one. Excellently done.
Very kind of you to say so, thank you!
Well done! This was so compelling. Love the JFK intro!!
I and the team appreciate it, thank you!
Amazing. I believed every second of it. So well done, on every level. Bravo to the whole cast & crew & writers/directors/producers!
Very kind and nice to hear this, thank you!
Great job everyone..thank you....really injoyed...peace
So glad you liked it. We have the best team.
The TH-cam algorithm has recommended a lot of crap recently. This makes up for it! Outstanding short film!
That's wonderful to hear. Thank you and I'm so glad we were a positive watch for you! I appreciate it.
You have touched my heart and soul with a most fantastic piece of cinema. Thankyou!
So glad to hear this, thank you for watching!
I’m impressed by the set! Awesome man!
Thanks! Our production designer, Brent Mason, is a genius!
That chair base on the wall panel tho.. 😬
Thank you, I really enjoyed this!
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Bravo to all involved in this production! 👏👏👏
Thank you!!
How did Blake Simon make such a high quality short movie, able to afford all the excellent talent and great set? It must have cost a million to make, but how could it recoup?
That's very kind of you, Tom. Thank you. We had an amazing team that was really able to stretch the few dollars we had. Thanks for watching and commenting.
this movie reminded me of David Bowies "Major Tom" song. this would be creepy - in a different way, to be out there all alone, away from everyone, waiting, waiting. good movie - which can happen any time a space craft goes up
Thoroughly enjoyed this, both from a story-, as well as a cinematic perspective!! Please make more of this! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Thrilled to have viewers from the Netherlands! Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, your actors looked like regular people. I really, really liked it. I don't often like these shorts, really appreciate this one.
I'm so glad to have earned your comment. Thank you for watching.
This film crew put in some serious hours in set design and construction... nice job on a low budget!
They certainly did. Almost single-handedly built by our amazing Production Designer Brent Mason.
This is MUCH better than most of the sci-fi shorts on TH-cam. What a relief, and thanks to the film makers.
Great video! I would definitely like to see more of this.
Thanks Eric! I appreciate the support.
Beautiful. So much delivered in such a small package. Bravo.
Thank you very much! Very glad you enjoyed it.
Not sure about the AI popping out of the wall like a cuckoo clock but otherwise a thoroughly engrossing piece, I felt his pain. Excellent.
Thank you very much!
Awesome story, awesome work!
Thank you very much!
Extremely well done.
I must confess I originally thought "Blake Simon, I thought he was dead and I didn't know he had any interest in SF but okay". Then I realised that somehow in my head I had squashed Blake Edwards and Neil Simon together.🤣
Two very talented people, happy to get mixed up with them.
I felt the agony and the ecstasy, nice production.
I'm so glad, thank you!
What a great short! Story, plot development, photography, acting and music on point....even had a kinda happy ending too :)
Thank you Nigel! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent! A puzzle with terse storytelling, slick design, compelling acting and a powerful denouement.
Thank you Graham!!
LOVED this short! The actors were awesome. I hope this story continues
Thanks very much! I agree, the cast is wonderful and they're all great people.
Great film! Your in the goldilocks of good film. Story over effects!
Thanks for watching, Aaron!
Well done, the music is excellent.
Thank you! I completely agree. Daniel Ciurlizza is a wonderful talent.
This is very kind and lovely to read, thank you we're so glad you enjoyed it!
To say that I'm a picky purveyor of science fiction is an understatement
This is a high quality piece of science fiction....and *that* is no overstatement.
Thank you
What a lovely comment to read, thank you very much John!
Great and compelling short, great and believeable characters and fantastic photography. The short and the music are well balanced. I was drawn in the story almost immediately. Great work.
Thank you for watching! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the awesome sauce short film! GOD bless us all AMEN!
FTW! Finally a spaceship movie whose doors don't have odd angles and jagged edges with horizontal fingers sticking out. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
