Ive just acquired a 2018 S1000RR so a change of exhaust is definitely on the cards. Some great tips here and i will use next year when i get the new exhaust .

Great video. Thanks for posting. I bought a similar one, and it did not fit like plug and play, and I will need to take the whole exhaust as well and try to fit it

Yes it’s interesting, I noticed the valve open upon start up so I’m guessing it adjusts as you ride. I’ll do some back to back tests at some point and decide which is better and report back 😉👍

Hi there, yes you do. The bike is now more responsive and a lot louder
i montaged mine but now there is a small air leak at the Y pipe at the end with the 2 pipes, did you have the same issue?
Hi I didn't have this problem no. Can you cover it with a wider exhaust clamp?

Hi I was running with auto tune software so mine ran ok. Your gonna need a power commander and some dyno time. Maybe a ECU flash. Best of luck with it 👍

Could you leave the mesh in and not worry about drilling it all out? Or would that not work?
Hi you’ll need to remove it as the pipe won’t breath properly as a lot of the holes close up as you cut through the material. It looks like a lot of work but quite easy if you chase it around the edge of the exhaust. Best of luck with it 😎👍
When I bought my s1000rr I went lunatic mod 😁👌 when I stop the bike I saw something stuck on the end can It was exactly the same thing. Previous owner didn't remove them.
Boss did you take out the 1 motor servo and you did put the buddy servo? What to ask because I’m gonna do it mine thanks
Hi mate, it depends on what year your RR is. On the early ones you don’t need to fit a servo buddy as they don’t throw up a fault light when detached 👍

@@SixthGearMotorcycles so meaning your servo motor cables you just hide it you didn’t take it out and put buddy servo
did you have any issues without the mounting bracket ?
No, it's a lot lighter without the cat fitted it but would have preferred a mounting bracket just to be on the safe side
I wonder could you have left that bit of mesh in the headers?
No that's what's causing the restriction in air flow and has to be removed 👍
Do you have a link to the one you bought? Also did it through up any warning lights on the dash?
No I don't have a link sorry, I bought mine off ebay. I had no warning lights no. You can disconnect the o2 sensor on the early models and not get a warning light 👍
@@SixthGearMotorcycles thanks, this I’m my job for this weekend I managed to source one on eBay too. Did you end up leaving the servo cables connected in the end mate? Sounds good with them connected. My Gsxr 1000 L1 ran like a bag of shit with the servo disconnected.

You definitely don’t need to spend all that time to remove the cables. I just disconnected them at the valve on my HP4 and it’s been fine for the last 6 years.

Probably mate, it was the cheapest I could find on eBay but didn’t have the name of the manufacturer. Yeah it was a lot of work but worth the effort, doesn’t sound as good as the akra though... ☺️😂

No as I was running with a autotune but would definitely recommend having a remap if you decide to decat 😎👍

Factory its 192hp and had mine tuned with the austin racing equivalent and got 209hp out of it.

Which valve mate, theres two. I unplugged the mid lower and left the front one in use which added a little low end torque but worth playing with to see which you prefer

I wouldn't recommend cutting it on the bike as you run the risk of cutting into the engine sump 👍

Although it is cheaper. That’s a job not everyone knows how to do. Probably a couple hours worth of labour and welding to get that done and installed.
