    I picked up this monitor a couple months ago and I couldn't be happier. I mostly play competitive shooters, But I do play some other titles like warzone and Apex. Although I don't hit 360 Hz in the battle royale I most certainly get 300hz or more with my current setup.

    The PG27AQN has a few important advantages compared to the typical 240Hz oleds:
    - It has more Hz, which is always good for esports.
    - It can also be used for productivity without worrying about the god damned burn-in.
    - It has ULMB 2, which gives an unrivaled motion clarity.

    i got me the LG 45GR95QE, which is the ultrawide version at 45". It has a low PPI at just 3440x1440 but i dont notice it much and having a lower resolution also means the 240 frames are easier to drive. I think this monitor strikes a perfect balance for an "ambitioned ethusiast casual prosumer". It has nice colors, it is immersive, has great pixel response time and deliver 240 frames to give you a bit of an edge. That means it is great for all types of games, like Racing or Adventures but also fast paced FPS like Call of Duty or Battlefield.

  • @alyxoj1361
    @alyxoj1361 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I get your point that you must be a good gamer to take advantage of the high refresh rate, but on the other hand, there is something nice about higher refresh rates mainly motion clarity and input response. I wouldn't scoff at someone for going for this monitor for non- esports titles at all. Retro Gamers who play on a crt will tell you that the biggest reason they keep their CRTs around is the 0 input delay. CRT's have the fastest response time becasue of the way they are built is completely different to that of LCD or OLED. When i play retro stuff on a crt it feels amazing because you press a button and it almost feels like the character responds a millisecond before you press it. This probably becasue being used to LCDs you have adjusted to input delay so when going to a CRT or a 360hz monitor it really feels so amazing.

    My monitor's also my TV, streaming, sports. etc., screen. 1440, 165 HZ, 32", and I paid less than half that for it. I'd consider springing for an OLED if they come out with one that matches my refresh rate at a decent price, but for regular gaming and general use, can't see how this could be worth it. My reflexes are always going to be the bottleneck anyway.

      I hate Ultrawide, ruined immersion on most games because they were intended to be viewed in 16:9 as the developers intended. You don't explore dark narrow tunnel with a wide ass aspect ratio and pretend to be immersed by that. Good for competitive shooters not for regular gaming.

    2:48 this is true of any piece of hardware that is designed for competitive use. An ultra high refresh rate display and NASA spec PC won’t turn a bad player into a good one but they will allow an already excellent player to be even better.
    IMHO, if you have a PC that can drive a display like this, I would rather have a larger 4K display with real HDR. That’s why I went with the PG32UQX to pair with my 4080. 144HZ is plenty for when I do play the occasional shooter or racing game but the superior image quality and MiniLED backlighting makes every game look so much better.

    (0:00 Finally happened? ............ It's been out for months.)
    Real shame you didn't actually bother to look at the Asus website on this monitor for its technology. There is an excellent video on there about the tech in this panel. You missed completely what the Ultra Fast-IPS technology is, which is relevant to any gamer. Making it not just relevant to e-sports players.
    You banged on, even with analogies, why you need a very beefy PC to get the high frame rates. All while completely missing out the fact this monitor can run at lower resolutions than 1440p. It does 1440p, 1366p (92% of 1440p), and 1080p. You can also reduce it's screen area to run at 25", for 1366p and 1080p.
    Overall it means you can play with what GPU you have, getting crisp respose times of 1.5ms. While you can play older less demanding games at the fastest refresh rates.
    It won't burn-in. It does not have a weird sub-pixel layout that OLEDs have, that cause issues with anything outside of content consumption. Like the Alienware monitor you mentioned has a red and green halo around boxes like the google search box.
    Should have done you research before yelling at us. You didn't even really review it.

    It is too expensive. You could buy a Samsung 32" 1440p 240fps curved gaming monitor for £599. You could have two of them for just an extra £100 than this monitor being reviewed(not that you would, that might be overkill).

  • @danebeee1
    @danebeee1 ปีที่แล้ว

    No this is not a hdr monitor and no one should buy this for the hdr mode. It’s basically unusable. If you aren’t a e sports player and only care about gaming just buy the 240hz oled asus, not the lg oled as mentioned in this video. It’s the same panel but the asus get significantly brighter than the lag 240hz oled.

  • @Mustard1987
    @Mustard1987 ปีที่แล้ว

    My understanding of the way the human eye works tends me to think that 360Hz is overkill and the money would be better spent on 240Hz but larger screen and/or better image/colour quality. I can't imagine there are many people who could truly discern the difference at this super high frame rate...enough to make any noticeable difference to gameplay anyway...
