Rtings said otherwise oddly. Hard to know who to trust but I’ll take your word for it as I haven’t noticed overshoot either since I updated whereas I noticed it before.
@@Keivz It's objectively "fixed" if you measure overshoot behaviour at appropriate sensitivity (see 'BadSeed Tech' review of PG27AQDM on TH-cam which compares with old and new LG firmware using Nvidia LDAT). Compare Test UFO results from my review on PCMonitors (new firmware) with TFTCentral (old firmware) at 60Hz and 120Hz, the difference is clear. If I didn’t read this comment I probably wouldn’t have updated the firmware as I wasn’t bothered by the brightness and the 4k 120hz bug remains when using the hdmi cable. Thank you for the heads up
Got the LG model at $650 open box but perfect condition. I turn the brightness down in SDR since I can control my room’s lighting. It has been a mind blowing monitor for both competitive games and HDR gaming
Yeah it's worth mentioning that on paper Asus might be best choice out of those 4 monitors it's also 50% more expensive than the cheapest of them... Here in Europe lg goes for 800e while Asus is at 1200e
Excellent head-to-head (-to-head-to-head?) comparison, Tim. Very useful for prospective buyers like myself planning on jumping into the high-refresh 1440p market. I was a bit struck by how the Corsair model started off strong, but ended up falling short of glory. Perhaps a good firmware update can bring these four closer together.
My setup is in a dark room and is used mainly at night. I went with the Corsair and couldn't be happier. The 3 year burn in/dead pixel warranty is what sealed the deal for me. I honestly don't have an issue with brightness levels with the monitor.
I've been using my S95B about 5 feet away from me as a gaming monitor and it's amazing. These monitors will have to come way down in price for me to even consider it.
I’ve owned both the LG and the ASUS and ended up sticking with the ASUS because it gets considerably brighter in SDR. Plus the screen can physically go lower for better viewing. If the LG was brighter then for me it would be the way to go, as it has a better aesthetic, HDMI 2.1, a remote and displays colours more accurately especially in HDR. It also implements burn in prevention in a better way. Top monitor if you prodominantly in a dark room and don’t mind dimness.
What cables do you use or does it just come with a hdmi/dp for 1440p 240hz? Also was hoping there was a long enough cable capable of 2k 240hz as I want to have my PC in the background of my setup behind me.
You should mention that on the LG switching to SRGB mode it disables DAS mode, which leads to noticeably higher input lag. So the LG isn't great if you're a gamer who plays SDR games in SRGB mode. Maybe it's a pretty niche use case, but it's probably relevant to some people.
For what it’s worth, I have the LG and haven’t had any issues with brightness. In fact, I often turn the brightness down to ~80% when gaming in the dark.
When I'm not gaming I usually turn off HDR where I have it in SDR reading mode (or whatever it's called in the english UI) because I get headaches from the brightness. It hits different if you're sitting directly in front of it compared to say my 1000nits TV where I don't mind it. Dark, high contrast games can look amazing, it's definitely the most beautiful display I ever had as a PC monitor.
Having the LG Oled, next to my Neo G8 it looks too dim for my taste. The neo g8 colors pop off more due to how bright it's mini led is, and even though the contrast is better on the Oled, the mini led in my opinion when comparing it side by side gives the image a 3d ish look as if it's more immersive. Like there's actually different shades of lights in a room. plus it's hdr is much better than the LG's. and is can achieve brightness much higher and consistent compared to the lg's This is what I have noticed when comparing the 2. I usually play the neo g8 for singleplayer games and multiplayer, the lg only strictly on multiplayer. LG is way too dim for my taste. I should have waited for the newer oleds, with higher brightness. My phone an amoled can achieve over 1500 nits of brightness looks much better than my lg oled.
Issue for me is during the day scenes brightness is fine but night scenes in video games (HdR) its hard as hell to see things. The inky blacks mixed with low brightness makes dark areas very hard to see.
I managed to get the LG 27GR95QE for £750 here in the UK. And since august 2023, LG have announced that their two year warranty now covers burn in makes it a clear winner for me. I’ve owned many high end Asus ROG components and their technical support is awful coming from personal experience with them. Brightness means very little to me as I also game on a LG CX Oled tv which is a lot dimmer than this monitor and I actually find it too bright in HDR games at night due the deep blacks making the highlights pop to much I end up turning the brightness down. Also the HDMI 2.1 is so much more superior than DP 1.4 as you can play at 1440p at 240Hz without display screen compression (DSC).
I'm also considering getting it for this price from overclockers, I want to for my ps5 and as I move a lot I needed something smaller than an lg c2 but my biggest concern is the matte coating on 27GR95QE compared to the glossy coating on oled tvs like the c2, what do you think of the coating so far and does it diminish the oled experience ?
A friend of mine got the ASUS one recently, and I got the XENEON. I must say, I'm very happy with it. Mostly playing Street Fighter VI and Remnant 2 at the moment and they look great!
Note that new firmware for Corsair just dropped, and it says brightness stabilizer now allows for up to 200 nits. That is a pretty major upgrade, that makes it much more competitive, especially with the LG model.
I do not have corsair model, but according to RTINGS the brightness is around 150-160 cd per square meter, which is still less than LG model, but might be good enough for those that are using their monitors in 120-150 range.
my lg arrives today and i cant wait. i got it on sale for the 799. i went w the lg not only due to the price but also the remote and actual hdmi 2.1. cant wait to test it out today thats for sure. once i get it ill figure out if its bright enough or not foe me. the asus is currently 1050 in the us. simply for the reasons mentioned above it was really hard to pass up on the lg. im most likely going to give a review from a normal persons perspective when i get it as well. appreciate the vid and your thoughts though for sure. the corsair warranty though makes it a tough choice for me as well. that warranty really plays a huge part in a purchase decision as well imho. the brightness does have me curious though. what i also think is the asus being so much brighter is most likely more susceptible to burn in. ill find out soon though and so will some of you who watch my vid. take care
Been using the 27AQDM for 2 months now and this is a warning to all future adopters. This monitor is horrible with text. Fringing is quite noticeable and makes random text blurry. If this is going to be your single monitor forget about it. If on the other hand you will be using it for gaming and movies exclusively, like i do, then go for it. It can't be matched on that content.
Turn off 'Clear Type in windows... Helped a lot with my LG OLED. You can pick which monitor to turn it off if you use multiple. Looks almost like the text on my IPS
The text is really only poor with PDF files other than that it's perfectly fine if you use the correct Asus driver not the Windows driver and adjust the monitors sharpness setting.
Make sure you have "vivid pixel" set to 50. For some reason that was set to 0 for me and it made everything blurry, especially text. Other than that, you get the standard WOLED text fringing, but I found it quite tolerable on this one.
Great monitor content as always Tim. I am thinking about getting an oled in the future but at the current time I'll hold off for a 27 or 32" 4k qd oled 144hz glossy coated monitor. I spotted a gigabyte m27u over on amazon for a great price but will wait for your review on that one. Keep up the amazing monitor content. I appreciate all that you guys do.
There's two things I think that are being completely missed with the Asus model: There is still a red tint that oversaturates red, orange, purple, ect that makes everyone look like they have a spray tan in HDR 6500k. The other elephant in the room is that the Asus does not do its pixel cleaning automatically...you have to manually do it. LG, Corsair, SAmsung, Alienware, ect all do it automatically.
@@angelcordero5745 asus confirmed several times it doesn't and so have people that have tested it. Only the 42/48" models do it automatically. Mine has never done it automatically.
This guy here says it runs automatically: th-cam.com/video/PcPp0beGstc/w-d-xo.html And I have seen people on the Asus forum say it runs and the power LED will turn orange while it runs. I will try to watch out for that (just got the monitor).
@DasAntiNaziBroetchen I haven't seen it run automatically yet. It always gives the prompt, and doesn't do anything if I ignore it. And asus themselves on their forums said it was manually only. TFTCentral was also wrong about those settings. Screensaver, for instance, only adds vignetting and it doesn't do anything else. The same setting on thr LG version is in the service menu and called CEC. Asus also completely removed panel refresh, so it can only do pixel cleaning The 42" and 48" asus oleds do have automatic pixel cleaning.
I think you should look at power usage/anti-burn in features the monitors have and which can be disabled. I have the Corsair one and I'm very disappointed in it. Despite having the Brightness Stabilizer on it will still lower the brightness after a while, especially in the corners. It's very annoying and can make text in the corners look dull and hard to read. I'm sure this is some "feature" to either save power or prevent burn-in but it's unacceptable on a monitor.
I switched to the Asus PG27AQDM after 5 years of using the Acer XB271HU in a multimonitor gaming setup. Going from 1440p 165Hz to 240Hz isn't the biggest jump but the motion clarity is undeniably superior, as well as the colour accuracy. Having HDR is also great because of that OLED per pixel lighting, black levels too - but I can't help but feel a little buyer's remorse. The old gaming monitor needed an update, yes, but I could've gone with a cheaper IPS screen and been content too, though this is because I've been using OLED TVs for even longer.
i did something similar, and i also had the Acer XB271HU, but i got a great deal on 4k 144hz ips which i had for a year. now i have the corsair xeneon oled. and the 4k ips was a great buy, the oled is not a great monitor for the money. i would recommend for anyone that 4k 144hz ips you can get for half or less than oled is the sensible purchase. i went into oled not expecting great value or resale value afterwards. oled is great but now value proposition is my point.
@@Tr2w Not at all - even used for work during the day. But it's only been 4 months. I do have 2 LG OLED TVs that I use with HTPCs and they haven't developed any burn-in either. The oldest tv is a B6 from 2016. I really don't foresee any problems with burn-in, unless you leave your PC on 24/7 and never let your monitor go to sleep.
I have the corsair one and for me the brightness is not a problem even tho a window is to my right side where the monitor is placed. But when I’m in csgo the flashbang is more light grey than white (it’s odd but I think it’s better so)
I got the asus model following your recomendations and reviews and I can't be happier. Motion clarity is awesome and HDR gaming is really blows mi mind, specially after firmware update. I'm also happy with brightnes. I can use it in summer with no blinds at all with no issue.
@@ogikay7056 SD content looks greyed when you activate HDR in windows settings. You only see true HDR colours when you open your game and toggle HDR on in the game settings. I only enable HDR when playing HDR compatible games.
Sorry but after having both the lg and corsair i would put the xeneon in 2nd place. With brightness stabiliser off the auto dimming can be annoying but the brightness is substantially improved over the lg. For spreadsheets and web browsing i would consider the lg better because the full screen brightness fluctuation can be distracting, but for content consumption the corsair is superior.
Indeed. He'll review 4 'me-too' 27" oled monitors but has only reviewed 1 of the 4 'me-too' 27" mini-led models. At least rtings has reviewed the innocn and the (32") acer. Oddly, no one seems to want to touch KTC (other than more basic reviewers). Makes you wonder.
@Monitors Unboxed Can you please make a tutorial video on how to hardware or software calibrate latest gen WOLED monitors such as the Asus PG27AQDM to get the most color accuracy possible from both SDR and HDR modes. It will be great to have a OLED specific calibration video on the latest gaming monitors which people might wanna also use for productivity as well. Thank you.
I tested both the Asus and the Alienware ultrawide qd oled. I kept the Asus. Something surreal about the motion and look even against the qd oled. It seemed like it was faster and smoother. Unbelievable monitor for PC gaming.
I am hoping that you have a chance to review some 27" 4K mini LED monitors in the future, such as the Red Magic. I am waiting for the 27" 4K OLED monitors, but am concerned about burn in and text clarity especially since I am using my monitor for both work and gaming. As such, I may consider upgrading to mini LED for now.
27" 4k really is the sweet spot and going back to 1440p xeneon sure has some drawbacks. the text clarity on oled is not reducing the text readability, it just looks worse than ips. would probably be fine for a 4k resolution on same size monitor. i am not sure anything but oled is worth it for hdr, mini led and fald have some drawbacks and adds too much cost. burn in on the other hand is an issue on oled. i am not expecting to get much for my oled monitor after my burn in warranty expire after 3 years. and you have to get used to new habits and taking breaks, i have a second monitor i display static elements and watch content while my oled is refreshing or giving it a break.
Mike I can tell you from experience of having used the s95c for about a month now, theres no issues with text clarity. Its actually even better for desktop than my pg32uqx was. As long as game mode is off its stunning for browsing. The threat of Burn in is considerabley exxagerated. I got 5 yr warranty on my s95c and the store covers it anyway, but in my view youve gotta be a total dipshit and abuse your panel to get burn in
I bought the LG 27GR95QE during Prime Day sales and it's been a nice upgrade from my previous VA 1440p MSI monitor. Pretty beautiful picture quality and the 240hz/very quick response time is really nice. All the OLED "longevity" features also give me peace of mind to just use the darn thing and not worry so much about burn-in. I was pretty skeptical about how big of an upgrade the LG 27GR95QE would be but after a few weeks of use I've been very satisfied with the purchase. Properly implemented HDR in games is definitely awesome and watching Blu-rays is great. SDR is beautiful as well. It only took me about 20 minutes of fiddling with settings between the monitor itself, Windows and AMD Adrenalin to get the picture where I wanted it. Can't comment on the comparisons to other monitors but I paid $850 and on paper I don't think the ASUS was worth $150 more.
So... The search (or wait) continues. "All" I want is a 27" OLED 1440p 120-165Hz with excellent text clarity, fast accurate response time where a single profile works throughout the refresh range, BANG ON sRGB color profile out of the box, "fairly good" HDR color profile or better, and very good to excellent brightness.
@@andyb9664 I beg to differ. On my TV I want a super glossy finish because that boosts color vibrancy, but on my work monitors I prefer anti-glare. Granted there have been some manufacturers who took that concept WAY to far, to the point where the almost sanded looking finish reduced text clarity.
@@andersjjensen oh there's the difference! You call it work monitor, but I'm taking about a monitor I will buy for pc gaming. So for me, glossy is the way. (I'm always playing games in dark room, so glossy is not a problem for me.)
@@andyb9664 Then there's no need to shell out on a monitor that is hysterically color accurate and has excellent text clarity. Just get something that is fast as fuck and "good enough" when it comes to colors and text. I specifically require both because I'm a software developer and my wife is a hobby content creator who's getting to the point where her capabilities are outgrowing her Macbook Pro (which has a surprisingly good screen, btw!). I don't game more than 2-4 hours a week on average, but when I do I want a good experience.
What matters to me the most is how aggressive ABL is in video games while HDR is turned on. Watching the bright sky constantly flicker is a HUGE dealbreaker.
Thank you for making this video. Hopefully we can see a monitor with the performance of the Asus, with 4k resolution in the next 2 years courtesy of LG display.
I’ve had the asus model for a couple months now and I’m very happy with it. Coming from a Samsung odyssey g7 which was a great monitor also, everything looks more vibrant and clear on the Asus. No regrets here!
Hey dusty, really happy to see someone else with your previous gen monitor as me. Quick question, do you notice a different in motion blur or ghosting from the samsung? And does it feel more responsive? Thanks
Would be nice to have ...just hard to justify buying any of those. HDMI 2.0..no usb c..burn in..no warrenty +25% tax here in Denmark. i'll stick with my asus 144hz 1440 for now.
Loving this review is there any possibility of reviewing the KTC M27T20 1440p 27" mini led monitor in dining to get a decent price mini led monitor and been looking for reviews but cannot find anything in depth 😅
LG UltraGear for the win, LG forever They are the inventors of the pannel, rest are coppy paste. A hdmi 2.0 is a nono for me. Zorz tested hdmi 2.1+ CRU on fast Hdmi2.1 settings and the image panning in games is super fast compared to DP or HDMI 2.0 because of the super fast frame transfer that hdmi 2.1 offers. LG are not supid. No1 talks about this. This is my personal optinion, LG is no.1 for me and my taste. Thank you for you review ! Amazing work !
Purchased the LG and was expecting lousy text but I have trouble seeing any bad viewing with text. I guess if I zoom in and get close it may be a bit off. But definitely the white as a slight tinge when viewing text on white etc. The only thing is getting a BIOS update....the model I have is the LG 27GR95QE - B or A au and finding the firmware to update is a pain. I have not found it yet .... have installed the LG software so can access everything quite easy .
Hey Tim, hi, how you doing? Could you check out the AOC Agon Pro AG276QZD The last of the high end WOLED 27" QHD gaming monitors? and the Acer Predator X34 V Acer's QD-OLED 34" UWQHD option. They (acer) have options in each category. Smart.
I got some noob questions. I feel like pulling the trigger on the ASUS on account of the higher brightness. However I’d be using this monitor with my gaming laptop, and am curious what makes the Acer “the most laptop-suitable.”
Hey Tim, I'd love to get an OLED but I work from home on my gaming monitor, and also use productivity apps like Blender and Ableton. My monitors get *heavy* use with lots of static elements. Any recommendations for a higher-end monitor that's a great hybrid between productivity and gaming? Most content I'm seeing is OLED based, but unfortunately I think I would destroy an OLED pretty quick.
@@rukydeez1030 I have the same problem. I just bought the LG monitor and immediately turned it in again. Reason: its terrible fan noise. Tbh I am pretty sensitive to high pitched sounds, but it was bugging the hell out of me. I think I heard you say that in other videos the ASUS has a better build quality without the fan. So I am thinking about buying that one now. Only problem is, that I have to use it for productivity work some times, so I wonder how long it will last.
LG UltraGear OLED 27GR95QE-B 27" 240 Hz for 800$ or Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM at 1100$? What's worth it? I often play competitive games like CSGO, but 300$ less makes me think twice.
WBGR or BGRW would likely be best. Also locking out white subpixel for SDR content since the extra brightness isn't needed like it is in HDR. Windows color management has a setting for BGR.
I have the lg oled and in the srgb mode the oled at 100 brightness is about the same as my random cheap Amazon 2nd monitor at 35%. In a bright room it's sometimes hard to use the oled tbh
@@MrLupooo I was super happy, but I've sent it back (within the 2 weeks limit) because the Alienware AW34 was on sale for 700 euro on Cyberweek. Both monitors are really good
Having switched from an older 144Hz TN panel to an LG C2, I can state for certain that I'm now an OLED believer. I deal with a small amount of blooming or starburst effect around bright lights from a previous eye surgery, but the difference between my Sony TV's FALD and the C2's per-pixel dimming is still worth it because I'm not adding the TV's blooming on top of my own. Not sure which of these I'd go for if I hadn't bought the C2, but I highly recommend OLED for the premium experience!
This is an awesome video I always like these because this way I can make a better choice in selecting a monitor to buy. Arwnt there other 1440p oled monitors as well? If so put this winner against those?
I think that you have a lot of viewers who, like me, want a monitor for productivity, but with good support for gaming. Your recent exclusive focus on OLED monitors leaves us out. I would say that I still wanted follow-up on the Cooler Master monitors you reviewed earlier, but I see that they are no longer available in most markets.
Trying to decide if I should keep my G8 OLED or get the ASUS featured. I have an RTX 4080 so either will perform well. And while I don’t “need” widescreen it’s become a pretty cool form factor. I guess if it’s being branded FreeSync or GYSNC no longer matters then I guess that takes away the only thing that was making me wonder. I also got the G8 for $999 so cost would be the same.
Stay away from Asus, their customer service, warranty are absolutely the worst. they will run you around with emails back and forth and then ghost you.
@@HikaruIDThanks, I missed a lot of it but ghosting can be terrible at lower brightness. (I currently experience it on an oled and it's freaking terrible)
Tim, I'm curious if you have thoughts on the current mini led monitor market. Whilst I would love an oled monitor, my usage would undoubtedly lead to burn in. For that reason, I'm more interested in mini led monitors, but I have found it hard to find good products. Have you encountered any notable examples of a quality mini led monitor?
I got the ASUS one and after having played on a 42" LG OLED TV for a long time the brightness is a real disappointment.. especially the self-regulating one that you cannot disable.. the more white the display show the dimmer it goes.. And to think that this is still the brightest screen.. man that is one hell of a disappointment.. but I kinda do not want to send it back cause I no longer want such a huge OLED screen for gaming.. Man I am torn..
Any Recommendations on which of these monitors to get for a console gamer using a Xbox series X I was thinking about the Asus but it doesn’t support AMD Free Sync so I’ve been thinking to get the LG ???
Which one of these is flicker free? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and experience flicker in games, it would be a huge deal breaker for me I'd rather use my ancient TN panel at that point.

The neo g8 colors pop off more due to how bright it's mini led is, and even though the contrast is better on the Oled, the mini led in my opinion when comparing it side by side gives the image a 3d ish look as if it's more immersive. Like there's actually different shades of lights in a room. plus it's hdr is much better than the LG's. and is can achieve brightness much higher and consistent compared to the lg's
This is what I have noticed when comparing the 2.
I want know if that how much bright 200 nits really is, i also play in dark and I'm sensitive to too much high brightness.
@@zak.3957It's plenty good for me. I also have really sensitive eyes and get migraines if the monitor is too bright for me.
Do you have the corsair?
I need to know more
I do not have corsair model, but according to RTINGS the brightness is around 150-160 cd per square meter, which is still less than LG model, but might be good enough for those that are using their monitors in 120-150 range.
Wow 😳you guys are great, giving us all the videos we want!
my lg arrives today and i cant wait. i got it on sale for the 799. i went w the lg not only due to the price but also the remote and actual hdmi 2.1. cant wait to test it out today thats for sure. once i get it ill figure out if its bright enough or not foe me. the asus is currently 1050 in the us. simply for the reasons mentioned above it was really hard to pass up on the lg. im most likely going to give a review from a normal persons perspective when i get it as well. appreciate the vid and your thoughts though for sure. the corsair warranty though makes it a tough choice for me as well. that warranty really plays a huge part in a purchase decision as well imho. the brightness does have me curious though. what i also think is the asus being so much brighter is most likely more susceptible to burn in. ill find out soon though and so will some of you who watch my vid. take care
Greetings mate! any updates regarding the brightness? is the monitor bright enough ?
@@DasAntiNaziBroetchen Vivid pixel is the sharpness control.

The asus does Pixel cleaning automatically once you turn off the monitor
@@angelcordero5745 asus confirmed several times it doesn't and so have people that have tested it. Only the 42/48" models do it automatically. Mine has never done it automatically.
This guy here says it runs automatically: th-cam.com/video/PcPp0beGstc/w-d-xo.html
And I have seen people on the Asus forum say it runs and the power LED will turn orange while it runs.
Asus also completely removed panel refresh, so it can only do pixel cleaning
The 42" and 48" asus oleds do have automatic pixel cleaning.
asus was 500 dollar difference here in canada so it was a no brainer to get the LG and very happy with the purchase with rtx 4080
Great vid ! Hope an ultrawide version of this vid is coming soon! (Will check the channel to see if one was already done)
Any issue with burn in since the time you've owned it?

I'd love to see a roundup/comparison of 32" MiniLED displays like the KTC M32P10, Innocn 32M2V, Acer X32, etc.

I got 5 yr warranty on my s95c and the store covers it anyway, but in my view youve gotta be a total dipshit and abuse your panel to get burn in
4 oled 27” monitor reviews out of the 4 released this year plus a round up. Versus zero 27” mini led reviews this year (out of 6?).
Do you have issue with text readability ?

And no matte screen coating ffs! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
LG UltraGear OLED 27GR95QE-B 27" 240 Hz for 800$ or
Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM at 1100$? What's worth it? I often play competitive games like CSGO, but 300$ less makes me think twice.
How is the LG monitor for gaming games like world of warcraft? Just ordered it for like 400 usd brand new. thought it was a good deal.
The Asus is 200 euros more expensive in Europe; I don't think it's worth paying 20% more for such a small difference over the Corsair.
Who is the winner?
Does the Corsair have an option to raise black levels?
watching it on the LG 27GR95QE @ 800 USD.. :D so much difference than IPS or VA.. just day and night..
VA is an abomination that shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as the real monitors.
So overall among these bunch Corsair is the best in terms of features and warranty.
Why this panel use RWBG not WRGB or RGBW? It maybe solve text clarity problem for some degree.
WBGR or BGRW would likely be best. Also locking out white subpixel for SDR content since the extra brightness isn't needed like it is in HDR. Windows color management has a setting for BGR.
the LG monitor is sold at best buys with a 4 year protection plan through geek squad
Why brightness is so important? For me personally I keep my monitor at 50% brightness all the time if I go higher my eyes hurt.
I have the lg oled and in the srgb mode the oled at 100 brightness is about the same as my random cheap Amazon 2nd monitor at 35%. In a bright room it's sometimes hard to use the oled tbh
the higher brightness the higher the chances for burn ins
Can you tell us more about ABL. It is a very important topic for OLED display. It can ruin the gaming experience if it is too agressive. Thank you
