@@jarrodgeary3714turn on the remote without the cable being connected, reset the remote with a tooth pick or with the tip of an ink pen. When the lights turn off connect the cable and turn on the PS when it Boots up press the PS button on the remote. That should do it.
im so frustrated. my controller just keeps blinking only when i press the ps button. when i connect it to my ps3 or any outlet nothing happens. So i bought a new usb, problem wasnt fixed. i reset the controller. nothing. I tried this video, and still nothing ive tried everything i could find.
well with mine i ended up finding out it was the prongs inside the usb on the controller. i let a friend borrow them the night before and when i finally looked at it my usb port was all bent up and fucked inside so i just had to get a new one i dont think theres an easy or cheap way of fixing it you might as well just by a new controller. That was my problem anyways i dont know about you guys. try looking at it and if youre unsure compare it to another ps3 controller

I had it plugged in with the USB, and just hit the reset in the back which I didn't even know about and it immediately assigned it to slot 3.

What about when you always have to plug in your controller to the USB just to turn it on? If I press the PS button to turn on the system the controller just blinks red and I have to plug it into the USB and take it out 24/7 Anybody have this problem?
Sadly, it doesn't work for me. I can only use it wired, so the cable is not the problem. I threw my controller an it broke, an out of curiosity I put it back together. at first it'd still work turning on my console before I took the battery out to put the missing buttons an anolog sticks in but now it won't come on by itself an all 4 red lights flash with no response even after reset any ideas?

I was organizing and cleaning my bedroom the other day, and noticed my PS3 controller had 2 lights that stayed on solid and it wouldn't connect to the console, so I unplugged it from the charge cord, and left it unplugged for 36 hours thinking it would eventually drain itself. Then I saw this video and hit the reset button as you showed, and the 2 solid red lights started flashing then turned into 4 lights flashing for 20 seconds, then it went back to normal operation. Oh my God this was SO HELPFUL! Only thing I did different after hitting the reset button on the controller, with the system off and the controller cable plugged in, I pressed the PS button on the controller target then turning on the console weigh the power button. And when I unplugged the cable it finally connected wirelessly! I've been having to use this one with a cable so this worked awesome!
I tried the fix that's in the video but that didn't work. However I did get it to work. I blew into all the vents on front of the PS3. Then I was finally able to connect wirelessly. I'm guessing it's dusty inside lol

This actually worked! The only thing that did for me. Now I am trying to revive some completely dead controllers. They worked recently but now won’t charge back up at all
If this doesn't work for you, try using the USB cable that came with the PS3 console itself. I was previously using a different cable and it wasn't working until I did this then it worked
I did all these steps but once I disconnect the usb attachment (with the ps3 on) it won’t stay connected to my ps3 and immediately (the controller) turn off. No matter how many times I press the home button. Can you help me out? I would hate to pay for repairs. Much less get another ps3. Thanks.

I had the exact same thing happening and didn't feel like turning of my system and what not so I just disconnected from the ps3 charger cord and it was still flashing then pressed in the reset on my controller it stopped flashing and shut off then I pressed the middle ps button it turned on normally and worked its a few less steps hopefully this shortens someone's fix :)

If it doesn't work .. Do the same thing this guy turn the ps3 off and plug the controller up and flip it over and press and hold the reset button for 5 to 7 seconds and then turn the console on by the console wait a few seconds and then hit the ps butting and it will work hope this helps :)
If this is not working for you, you can restore ps3 to factory setting, and then your ps will scan dualshock3 controllers normaly again. That worked in my case.

*IT WORKED!* I ended up with a bit of a dilemma. I've started playing the Dead Space series for the first time on my PS3. I finished the first two, and booted up Dead Space Extraction before finally settling things with 3. Unfortunately, this entire time, I've been playing with a 3rd-party controller with no SIXAXIS functionality, leaving me softlocked in the tutorial, as there's a point that requires you to use it before it lets you move forward. And unfortunately, my original PS3 controller is busted in such a way that if it's activated, it will send random multidirectional inputs at warp speed. So, I had to buy a whole extra controller... and ran into this!
There's one exception for me though. It turns on the console but when the console is loaded up, it still keeps blinking. This is the first time it's happening to me.

If this doesn't work for you, try using the USB cable that came with the PS3 console itself. I was previously using a different cable and it wasn't working until I did this then it worked
I did all these steps but once I disconnect the usb attachment (with the ps3 on) it won’t stay connected to my ps3 and immediately (the controller) turn off. No matter how many times I press the home button. Can you help me out? I would hate to pay for repairs. Much less get another ps3. Thanks.
Someone help please , my controller flashes 1,3,4 and when it connects only the sticks and X button will work ps button is sort of registered as going down . Just bought it . Greatly appreciated if a person who understands what is goin on can help . Cheers

Help me my ps3 is cfw and I turned it off for a break and I turned it back on and it showed the screen for recovery menu and I tried USB and it powers on but 4 flashing lights and still wont work I've tried the controller reset button a d still no luck I'm scared and please help

I had the exact same thing happening and didn't feel like turning of my system and what not so I just disconnected from the ps3 charger cord and it was still flashing then pressed in the reset on my controller it stopped flashing and shut off then I pressed the middle ps button it turned on normally and worked its a few less steps hopefully this shortens someone's fix :)

I need help my ps3 controller wont connect to the ps3. i've notice it wont detect the usb cable. Ive tired other cables but still no luck. The controller will turn on but wont connect to the ps3 and wont detect to the cable. The lights will also blink slower then it should blink any idea what i should do to fix it?

If it doesn't work .. Do the same thing this guy turn the ps3 off and plug the controller up and flip it over and press and hold the reset button for 5 to 7 seconds and then turn the console on by the console wait a few seconds and then hit the ps butting and it will work hope this helps :)
If this is not working for you, you can restore ps3 to factory setting, and then your ps will scan dualshock3 controllers normaly again. That worked in my case.

I have the same consol and the same controller. It doesn’t work. When I want to start the consol, all 4 lights blink on the control and nothing else happens. It won’t work without the usb. Why?

My lights wont power at all unless its. Plugged in and the seccond i take out the cord it dies also all 4 of my pads decide to do it when i broke my main one like wtf if this shit its clearly built into the system as thw controllers still work

I ended up with a bit of a dilemma. I've started playing the Dead Space series for the first time on my PS3. I finished the first two, and booted up Dead Space Extraction before finally settling things with 3. Unfortunately, this entire time, I've been playing with a 3rd-party controller with no SIXAXIS functionality, leaving me softlocked in the tutorial, as there's a point that requires you to use it before it lets you move forward. And unfortunately, my original PS3 controller is busted in such a way that if it's activated, it will send random multidirectional inputs at warp speed. So, I had to buy a whole extra controller... and ran into this!
My controller doesnt have a reset button it looks a little wonky byut it definitely is a ps3 controllet
There's one exception for me though. It turns on the console but when the console is loaded up, it still keeps blinking. This is the first time it's happening to me.
