Yeah I had a similar experience to that. I think lots of people have intuition but it's nurtured for some and not others if someone just says shut up you're stupid or gas lights you about it then you stop listening to your inner voice. People get "gut feelings" all the time though and I don't think you should ignore those they are there to protect you from danger sometimes.
