I doubt they are true. That gold card he took out was like 45 years ago and that looked as shiny as he found it 2 days ago. Joe looks like he knows Joey is a compulsive liar and he just plays along
Mark Silva there’s no way he can make this shit up. He’s told some of these stories multiple times and they’ve been exactly the same everytime. Exaggerated a little? Probably.
It always cracks me up because all my relatives from New Jersey will make that exact quote and use your full ass name when they're about to drop some quantum shit.
Joey realllllllly needs to write all his damn life story. Swear the fucking god, he could drop a good 4 or 5 film series. Hell, even a damn Netflix Series with a good 20 seasons. It be gold.
Even if most of the stories are comic exaggerations a film or series needs to be made. From him finding his mom dead to climbing into Lucy snorebush's room to kidnapping Kent Vela to present day edible king.
Hell yeah, a good sitcom should be able to be made with all these damn hysterical stories he’s got in his head about his life. A good 8-10 seasons, of 10-12 episodes consistening of 30 minutes each would be fantastic.
If Sammy Gravano is still alive, Joey can probably get away with a couple of crime stories if he doesn't use real names. I am sure he wasn't deep into organised crime walking around with a cops family card in his wallet..I'd say a grain of salt is in order there.
@@vega21 Yep, Plus all the robbing he did in Colorado, San Francisco, Seattle, not to mention getting locked up for kidnapping to going on stage performing for convicts, & his early introduction into the world of comedy. (Not to mention all the fucking drugs he did over the years!)
He's got a way of building up his stories that makes you totally hooked from the beginning. He mention every notable important detail with such precision that makes the story so livid and visual for the listener. And that voice!! I wish he did audiobooks.. or even GPS! What a guy!!
Exactly. Joey is NOT that unique for guy who grew up in 70s in NYC/NJ. There's lots of guys just like him out there. It was different time in a different environment than it is today.

Joey is such a damn good storyteller. He plays the rolls in his stories and makes it seem like your there .this man has had a crazy life. I'm glad he talks about it .I could listen to him for days
Its how certain people tell stories, they just exaggerate and add extra details to make a mundane story interesting. He probably only remembers having a neighbor who didn't like kids and made up a story from there.
Foreal it kinda bums me out thinking about it too like I know I have all these great memories but I can't remember them so its like they didnt even happen
Exactly. I don't know why some people think he is lying, he is not. I grew up near Joey Diaz and I am only a few years younger then him. I have plenty of crazy experiences that I lived through in the 1980s in North NJ and New York City. I am just not a good story teller and not good at making people laugh like Joey.
I can't listen to Joey Diaz while I'm driving anymore, he goes from whispering to screaming and it scares the shit out of me! He whispers so low that I can't hear him so I turn the volume up, and when I'm not looking, Wham-O! 11 on the volume dial and I shit my pants! Love the content, but I got to be sitting in a recliner with my eyes closed to listen.
Yeah they really need an editor to go back over this and even the audio levels out. There is no sweet spot. He is some times way too loud and simultaneously way too silent when on the same setting. Very poor audio quality when you consider the level this podcast is at
I fucking love Uncle Joey but damn do I love his stories even more. The kind of guy I could hear him tell a story he's already told before and still listen just because of the way he's telling it this time.
I grew up in Union City and Jersey City next to North Bergen, NJ. I can relate to alot of Joey's stories. You grew up on the streets and yes everyone watched over the neighborhood kids. It was so much different in the 60's and 70's.
If a teacher told me not to speak my native language at school, I would go home and have my mother tell me to wise up and speak the native language just like Joey. That's so awesome man. What a great story.
