the original sonic movie design was based on the realism that the TMNT 2014 and Transformers movies had with their characters, paramount assumed there wouldn’t be hate since those movies made bank, which is why it couldn’t be a publicity stunt, but rather a misdirection by the studio and OG design merch lol
Yeah i originaly was in the vagon that everything had been just a publicity stunt by the studio until I learned about the merchandise thing and yeah, it was just a bad decision since merchandise its always one of the first things made for any movie
@@charmyzard The "Bayformers"? How's this the first time I've seen it shortened to that?! Now I'm *sure* there's some fan stuff called "Baeformers" somewhere!
Yeah, I never had a problem with the first design. It was realistic sonic. It’s the design philosophy they’ve been doing for over a decade. Kinda liked it a bit more than the first even, but as long as the movies are good I’m happy
The implicit meaning of Sonic alone in the field though. Shouldn't it be his constellation alone in the sky then? Why Tails'? To remind you to go for the good ending, of course. Still, you're right: This doesn't mean Tails is dead... but maybe worse: That he's kept as a test dummy or unwilling math slave for 8-bit Eggman.
4:56 I heard in a video that I don't remember the name that there was a more finished 06 build, however it was so unstable and crashed so much that they had to release an earlier, less finished build to meet SEGA's deadline
Was about to comment this. Actually I heard that the demo on the 360 store was an early beta version of the game while the retail release was a later alpha version
That sounds reasonable, in development there's a thing call the "Feature-based" development. Large chucks were developed at a time and tested/debugged later. As you can imagine, his causes some back and forth between progress and testing. The populare one nowadays is "Trunk-based" method, where minuscule bits of progress are tested and added to the core development continuously. This eliminates the back and forth debugging and crashing, which likely happened with 06. Which explains why older games had impressive features but buggy functionality, and modern games can function with partially finished features with little delay.
The reason why sonic arms look like a sleeve is because in the 3-D games it’s hard to animate, which is the reason why he has blue arms in Sonic Boom and the sonic movies
The reason why I applause Sonic Boom and the Movie and other blue armed Sonic's out there It's not the 1990's anymore so it wouldn't really make sense for Sonic to be the only male hedgehog to have flesh arms so it's nice to see the Movie and Boom make him look a bit more pleasant.... Still hate the games, Only liked the show-
My theory : tails can't die and he's immortal. However every time he dies and respawns, he loses peices of his memory wich is why hes a coward in the newer games
5:38 fun fact: sega did actually release the wrong version: When they finally “finished” sonic 06, they tried to test the game, but everytime they tried to run it, it kept on crashing, so they scrapped that old version, and rushed to make a new one
the theory about sonic and his friends being a bunch of kids playing and pretending with their older parent/guardian being eggman is so cute. I really want to see this as some sort of alternate concept because i love how endearing it is.
The Eggman setting up all the trap in the levels is actually somewhat canon to Sonic CD (at least in concept art). The increasing amount of mechanical traps as the levels progress represent Eggman's increasing control of Little Planet, with Stardust Speedway and Metallic Madness being completely under his control. Its a really cool form of silent storytelling and I'm surprised it was never brought back for any of the games.
About the Sonic '06 thing, they DID release an unfinished build, but it was on purpose. They definitely had later builds of the game made, but they were very unstable and probably unbeatable. Retail '06 is just the closest thing they had to something acceptable beyond demos.
Eggman DID intentionally place the level hazards, springs, bumpers, etc. in most Sonic games, and has admitted to it a handful of times. He even did so in the Sonic OVA. Also yes, they DID release the wrong build of Sonic 06. Kind of. The game went gold and went into production much earlier than the last known build of the game (which is the Xbox Live Arcade demo of Sonic 06, released about a month before the game launch, and much more similar to the one seen at E3 2006). The XBLA demo has all of these features present, including the dynamic day/night cycle, better physics, a homing attack with SA2 styled downward arc, normal spinjumping on enemies would do damage, etc. It actually DID play well in that demo. Unfortunately, the game we got is about 3 months older than the build date on the XBLA Demo. I still have a copy of this demo, which I will pick up from time to time. Polygon Jim once started integrating features from this demo into the final game, but it didn't get too far, as he unfortunately died in a car accident some years ago.
For the sonic 06 conspiracy theres some information you left out. Halfway through the game yuji naka was kicked off the team and they lost a whole bunch of progress which is why the game isnt as good as it looked in the trailers and what not.
So, I've thought about the "Infinite is broken Tails from 8-bit Sonic 2" one for a bit, and I've come to an interesting conclusion: The 8-bit games happened in an alternate timeline, and when the Phantom Ruby appeared into our timeline, seemingly unsupported by even reality as Silver's future seemingly fell apart "in real time" as it was introduced, one of the first instances of reality-breaking may have been Eggman making contact with his 8-bit-verse self and taking his Tails for some of his "modern Eggman" technology; an arms exchange. This explains perfectly why Infinite lacks the second tail, his inferiority complex, and special seeming hatred for Sonic. He let him down, the first friend he ever truly had. Where was his hero? His thirst for destruction being him lashing out his hatred against everything is reframed as something despicably tragic instead of more plain evil.
The build that was more finished couldn't work for the 360/PS3, and yes, it has been stated to be the case. I doubt Nintendo cared enough to go and sabotage X-Treme.
For the Yuji Naka Theories, you should have mentioned that he was recently arrested and jailed for insider trading. Meaning he was dealing with other companies and selling secrets. That would have added a TON of weight to those theories.
I don’t buy the Yuji Naka being sent to kill Sonic theory. Thing is, if he was sent to SEGA to sabotage Nintendo’s competition, wouldn’t he have started from the very beginning? Since he was the programmer for Sonic 1, I think he would’ve intentionally made the game bad in order for the game to not be the commercial success that it still is today. So, yea, this theory doesn’t have any weight. I don’t know if anyone actually bought this one, but if you did, well, you have all of the evidence you need to prove that it’s false. I just wanted to engage with the video a little bit. 👍
Tho i do gotta say he just did the games, tho naka just wasnt that great, i believe the true father of sonic is naoto ohshima , he made the character himself and was great person, he made his design and stuff, and even helps nowadays like in superstars even without being directly in sonic team, hes good, and better, tho idk who the other guy is, there was yuji naka, naoto ohshima, and some other guy who made sonic but does anyone know who and what he did?
@@Super70000 I mean, he's was just ARRESTED for insider trading a few years ago. So who knows, maybe someone found out that he was paid off by Nintendo or something. And it is curious that he intentionally had certain characters to be written in ways that often made the fans angry. Such as the case with certain mandates on Amy, Sonic, and some other characters. I wouldn't be surprised if his "hate" for Sonic stems from the internal feud that was going on at SEGA of Japan during the early 90's. He was part of the Japanese branch after all and Sonic CD was game developed by that branch, only for it to be outsold by Sonic 2 which was developed by SEGA of America.😅 I don't know, I could be grasping at straws here, but needless to say, there is definitely SOME evidence for Yuji Naka being a Nintendo operative or something.
My conspiracy theory: I think Yuji Naka is cursed. Every single project he touches either has bafflingly odd decisions made for it, has something weird or bad outside of his control happen to it, or both. There’s always a monkey paw with everything he touches, especially the Sonic series, which he created. Considering the guy has always been kind of a jerk, I wouldn’t be surprised of someone put a hex on him or something lol.
Also, Infinite and Tails are separate species despite being canines. Infinite is a jackal, while Tails is a fox. Also, Sonic 2(Master System) is a spin-off game of Sonic 2(Genesis). Same goes for Sonic The Hedgehog, where instead of being a port of the original game, it's built from the ground up and introduced new concepts, like picking up emeralds from the ground instead of from a special stage. Also, the spikes could be placed just by a former civilization, like Hydrocity Zone. In media, booby-traps are a common trope when it comes to visiting ancient ruins. Also, the ghosts from Sonic and Knuckles's "Sandopolis Zone Act 2" don't work for Eggman since they're in a capsule, until Sonic broke it, therefore releasing them. They also don't drop any animal compared to Eggman's robots meaning that they are ghosts and not metallic creations.
For some added context on the 06 theory: the reason why the tech demos generally look better is because those demos had separate teams with separate deadlines, so they had time to make improvements to various gameplay functions. But these tech demos were on 360, and the main platform was PS3 (since they’re Japanese obv) so these changes and fixes were never brought into the main development build of the game Matt McMuscles talked about this in his what happened video for Sonic 06, shoutouts to him
For Sonic 06, I heard they had to release an older build of the game because the newer build was unstable which couldn't be fixed in time. I'm not sure how true this is though.
They never even play tested the game and knew it was completely broken but they couldn't do anything about it due to being rushed and half the development team being sent to work on sonic and the secret ring
@@TheRayerrrits stupid how they sent half the team to work on another sonic game they should've just cancelled sonic and the secret onion rings and full on just worked on 06
personally i don't even consider the level-design theory much of a conspiracy, i always assumed that spikes and stuff were put in by eggman. then again, it's also fun to consider the world is just like that for some reason.
Since i was a kid, i always assumed that eggman put all the obstacles. Thinking it was unspoken lore. I mean, he has robots all over the place, is it that far of a reach to think he also put the spikes?
4:40 You ever hear of a series of volcanic islands known as Hawaii? Granted, nothing about Marble Garden makes sense, but Hill Top is obviously a volcanic mountain. Some volcanos have plant life growing on them after periods of inactivity.
Remember Mario 64 was released on a build that didn’t have optimization turned on, so it suffers from performance issues. I wouldn’t put it past devs to accidentally release the wrong build.
The 06 build theory is definitely not real, pre-release footage used an earlier build that they lost access to. The two theories on this are that they had a hard drive catastrophe due to a power outage or that the build was later used for Secret Rings (since that was originally the wii port of 06). The latter makes a lot of sense, given a lot of the themes of the game in general and some aspects from the early build being in it. This same situation happened for Sonic X-Treme where it ended up using the Nights engine, and Yuji Naka forced them to stop using the engine, based on Sega's policy on internal tech usage.
@@OrangezLanternz I was just about to reference Snick, my 2nd favorite PT character, used to be my favorite but The Noise as a character is really fun.
A theory I heard was that the alpha build of 06 kept crashing so they had to use an earlier build and the xbox live demo is supposed to be built upon the alpha build which is why it has so many differences including not having the standing on the side of wall glitch. I cant seem to find any evidence for this. someone suggested that they built the demo afterwards with some improvements but if thats the case why would they not patch out any of the glitches that were apparently fixed in the demo. The only reason they wouldn't do that is that the build used in the demo is different to the one in the game.
4:49 Marble and hilltop are volcanic. But egg man did partially create his world. As the game progresses, robotnik’s power over the world. Labrynth is the bottom of the island so it’s the last old structure in sonic 1. Afterward, is starlight which is his and scrap brain. The third act of scrap brain is labyrinth because it was mechanised by robotnik. 18:41 This game was de-canonised by origins.
11:33 There's a moment in Sonic Frontiers that goes something like this Sage: What is your end goal? Sonic: It depends, sometimes it's a spinning sign, sometimes it's a big 'ol ring It's kinda funny
Imagine if some kid was imagining IDW. "Ok, kids, what are we gonna do today." "Well this time we'll have Whisper's team be killed by their former teammate, and then we're gonna show that Whisper completely rewrote her personality because it was so traumatizing. But then the evil teammate's gonna come back so Whisper's gonna kill him."
with the sonic 2 tails dead theory i always get annoyed cause if that constelation means that tails is dead then what about the good ending? you know, where sonic and tails constelations appear
Every mainline character in the series after Project Shadow was meant to prevent the echidnas from going extinct (with the exception of the characters from the Sol Dimension)
My personal favorite is the idea that Honey and Fang are the Sol Dimension counterparts of Shadow and Rouge respectively. Absolutely no proof whatsoever, but the idea of stoic-and-withdrawn Blaze fighting against this silly fashionista cat is a fun parallel to Sonic and Shadow. The two of them are also some of the only characters to not really care about the Chaos Emeralds, Fang just wanting to sell them off to find them for nice reward most of the time while Honey just uses them as a means to an end so she can take care of the Death Egg 2 entirely to get more promotion for her fashion business. Very silly and fun to think about.
About the theory of Sonic 2, I remember hearing that after that bad ending of the game, Sonic 3 from Sega Genesis continues, and that all the phases represent the phases of the duel, that's all I remember because I heard that in a video years ago but I think it's better than just saying that the tails of the other games are imaginary and that's it, obviously the theory is still not credible but I like the other one better, I don't know.
Even entertaining the idea that Nintendo somehow got Sonic Extreme cancelled is so stupid. Like, there’s no actual evidence, and stuff like Crash Bandicoot released BEFORE Mario 64. The only actual evidence being “Nintendo is scummy sometimes” is really dumb. Not to mention that the actual reason it got cancelled is very well documented. EDIT: And the Yuji Naka stuff?? Seriously?
Regarding the '06 build, in software development the latest build with the most features is usually the less stable one. Stuff you add needs to be tested rigorously to assure it does not break the entire program in some manner. The build Sonic Team ended up releasing was obviously not the one that had the most work put into it, but it was most likely the last stable one they had. Now, I know many would love to say "Sonic '06 stable? Haha, are you kidding?" But regardless the game can be completed from start to finish with no crashes or major softlocks. Sure, Silver can stun lock you, but it's not like you're dealing with a dead save.
About the Movie Sonic theory, not only that, but the studio of the company responsible for the redesign had to close their doors due to lack of funding afterward. The backlash was so mass, and the redesign so costly, that an entire studio had to shut down. About the 06 Build theory, it's not impossible. When True Crime: Streets of New York was released, they accidentally released an earlier build for the Xbox version, which is why it's buggier and practically impossible to complete compared to the other versions.
So I don’t no when I’m pumping out the sonic colors ultimate review I’m trying to make short videos so when I find time summer break is coming but I’m probably not gonna have much time there either so I’ll try making the sonic ultimate review when I can. Thanks again for letting me use your footage.
Wasn’t the final build of 06 based on an older version because their best build was unstable and crashed a lot so they had to use an older and more stable build because of the deadlines? Pretty sure there’s even a page about it in the Lost Media wiki. The thing about Eggman creating/altering Sonic’s world could make sense in-universe,irl it’s because Hilltop Zone was supposed to be an ancient stage (when Sonic 2 was still about time travel) which is why there’s lava and dinosaur-like enemies.
Not only when you keep stopped, but also when you die, he looks straight to the player with a face kinda like "The hell you doin'?" Like he's mad for you letting him die in the game
i think the last theory is likely because tails was this awesome kid in sa1 and 2 and suddenly in all of the other games he's just this scared guy he doesnt mean anything and the reason tails was so confused in sonic forces because he was reading about himself when infinite beat up sonic and eggman probably used the timestones and went to the bad ending of sonic 2 8 BIT and stole that tails from there and turned him into infinite*
11:23 although maybe it is real since sonic has mentioned in frontiers about the spinning sign or giant gold ring being his goal, and theres no in-universe explanation of it, so maybe they do know their in a game, and they got hired by sega to do it
10:36 “this whole fourth wall breaking thing started in the 2010’s” Incorrect sonic has been barking the forth wall since day one. Knew that and still got it wrong.
7:22 No actually, it is very likely they accidentally released the wrong build. It's not exactly unheard of for things like this to happen, though maybe not exactly like how this occurred. For instance, there are games out there like I think FF9, where the source code is just straight up gone forever. Deleted with no backups known about. Which is why it, along with some other games that get ported to PC, tend to be ported over from the PS1 release instead of the internal build they already (should) have that can be ported over properly instead without the 'optimizations' made for the console. Etc stuff like that. Uncommonly known about in the gaming community (*though it really should be better known) is that except for games made on development systems outright; most games are made on a PC with the hardware it is running being used to make the game. The release onto console or other hardware is more of an afterthought of sorts. It's made to work well on the PC, and then altered to work well enough on console. (again, unless a proper development system is available. And even then there is still nuanced exceptions.) A good example of this being the case, where some game is made without the 'official' development kit, is like how EA used to release their hockey games on Sega genesis. Long story short, they didn't want to jump through Sega's hoops, so they reverse engineered the cartridge just to be able to sell their game without a license from Sega. Since they already had the game made, mostly if not completely at that point; it was just a matter of getting it published. I.E. All the code and such had already been written. On a PC, or the dev kit (if they had one at that point. I think they didn't... hence part of the reason why the backwards engineering was needed.) Anyways. Even if some of the details aren't quite correct, the main point overall remains the same. Developers/publishers absolutely do make huge mistakes from time to time, where whole projects get deleted, or the wrong build gets used. One last example, sort of. Dark Souls on PS3's original release, contained exploits that weren't supposed to be there on the release build, so it required a day one patch. I'm trying to find some information that corroborates this, but google is mostly full of people talking about the legal issues Fromsoftware had with Sony because of the name of the game needing to be changed due to Demon Souls being owned by Sony. That, and people talking about the exploit itself, now how it came to be. That sort of thing. What I remember though comes from an article from back in 2012 or so. And I remember it mentioning something from the developers saying something along the lines of "We released the wrong version of the game." So. Yeah, this one is more plausible than you might think. And yes, the manual having elements of the game that the game itself does not contain for whatever reason; is a glaring red flag that it's likely true.
It could be unlikely, because the PS3 and Xbox 360 were the first consoles capable of digital game updates. If Sega released the wrong version of 06, they could just send a patch or update to the game and the problems would be resolved. It's like the first day of the Switch port of Sonic Colors Ultimate back in 2021. It was very buggy at the start until Sega sent an update to fix all the issues.
@@JRSonicFan2024 This is not an unfair point. But, there is one aspect that maybe you didn't consider, or even realize at all? So, yes, updates were possible back then, but the sheer amount of what would need to be updated to 'fix' the game so to speak, would have necessitated likely an absolute huge update. The kind of which that back then, a lot of people just would not be able to download in a reasonable amount of time. It's why we still had mostly physical media back then. Internet access was both not universal, or fast. So imagine being Sega, releasing a broken game in such a scenario. How would you go about it in a way that doesn't immediately annoy your customers? Or at the very least, shifts the blame away from you, and onto something else? Well, you claim that one console is too hard to code for properly, and the other one is effectively just a port of that game; since coding them separately for each platform would cost more time and money. This would work back then, because the PS3 was a unique setup in how it operated compared to the Xbox 360, which was basically just a PC with some special edram or esram attached. (I forget which term it was). This situation with the PS3 was actually literally used as an excuse by companies too. Too hard to code for, hence why the game isn't as polished as promised, etc. And as for the Xbox 360, that special ram included caused its own hiccups. I think it was Fable 3 that showed this problem the best, with the game working just fine on PC, but had frame pacing issues on the 360 (if I remember correctly). Now, as for the update situation... Remember when Nintendo had that huge update released basically right after launch, which caused a bunch of kids christmas gifts to be effectively unusable until they got that update finished? If you do, then you probably realize instantly why such an update would be a terrible idea for a game that was just released. It would make it effectively unplayable until the update is finished. A game that you already bought in a state that should have been fully playable. Yes, there would be returns. And lost profit cause of it, rightfully so. So Sega probably just said 'Screw it, and make sure the next release doesn't have these problems.' To be fair to you, they really should have just put the update out anyways, if it really was the case that the wrong version got released. It would have sucked for those who want to play the game right away in a fully working state; but at least they would have gotten their monies worth properly eventually. Eventually, because of that network speed issue. Bluray games were often 25-50GB in size, and internet speeds were on average only hitting about 5-10mbps for A LOT of people. (City folk, you tend to forget that you have it pretty good for internet speeds. You are not the norm. Please, remember this.) IN fact, at the time, my own internet speed was literally a maximum of 5mbps. That would mean having to download 204800 megabits of data, assuming for the 25GB size the game might be needing to fully update. (not bytes, we're talking about network atm, not storage; which means we are working with bits and not bytes technically.) That would be about 11-12 hours of downloading time, assuming the 5mbps speed I had at the time was going full throttle the whole time without any hiccups. Oh, what's that you had a power outage at the 6th hour? Guess you get to restart that update. (If you can't just resume it, I forget if that was a thing yet for PS3. I think it was for 360, but not PS3... could be wrong, been a while.) If it were a 50GB game update... that's nearly a whole day of update time at the same speeds. Bluray today can handle up to 120~GB of data. Just imagine if we had to do a full update of that... on those speeds. Would be 2.5 days of update. I think it's fair to say that most would say F.this, and move on to a different game... even at the lower sizes.
Also let’s not forget, (regarding “Ugly Sonic being a marketing plan”) the Vancouver, Canada division of Moving Picture Company (the VFX company behind the Sonic Redesign) had to shutdown which according to workers who were laid off was because of: crunch times of 17-hour days (w/ no days off), “external marketing pressures”, and other opportunities made sustaining the studio difficult
About the first theory, as a 3D artist myself, I understand just how much time and effort it takes to make a fully cgi character. For them to make the first design just for it to only be used as a publicity stunt just wouldn’t make sense.
For the second theory. One word: MOBIUS. It’s a whole different planet. Maybe Eggman placed all those spikes and other stuff for warnings, but maybe it was before Sonic came along to rebel against him.
6:37 I would just like to say that the build we originally got of Origins before updates wasn’t actually the finished build. They actually released the wrong build so it is actually likely that they did that with 06 too.
i don't agree with the eggman made the springs and sheilds its obviously either power ups that just exist because games didn't really give plot to power ups or some other smart inventor like tails made these powerups and springs
I love the "sonic movie model" conspiracy cause it comes from a place of trying to give paramount too much credit. Yeah, I'm sure they're gonna release the real version of the Knuckles tv show that isn't 80 percent Wade Whipple any day now.
If there's one Sonic character that I think for sure knows they're not real, it's Sticks. She interacts with the audience in a bigger way than Sonic did in the games, telling them that they missed off-screen plot points or telling them to keep watching the show.
Another problem with the "Tails is dead" theory is that characters besides Sonic interact with Tails. I think if he were just Sonic's imagination, someone would have brought it up by now, or someone like Knuckles would've figured there was something odd about this kid. On the other hand, food for thought... Robotnik is often seen getting along better with Tails than anyone. Not a canon source but I always think about how in the anime movie Robotnik gives Tails a special watch... not Sonic, TAILS.
I'm surprised you didn't cover the "Metal Sonic theory", as I'll call it. Basically, this theory states that Metal Sonic wasn't actually built by Eggman in the present day, but is instead a roboticized version of Sonic from a bad future.
@@creepypastakingthedragones3679 There's also the fact that Eggman just has this technology right now in the main canon! In Lost World, the Deadly Six get the idea to turn Sonic into a robot after, and I quote, "Eggman taught us how to make robots." This is a huge lore drop to me for two of reasons. Firstly, we've only seen Eggman use animals as batteries to power his Badniks, so the fact that he knows how to turn them into actual robots and then taught the Deadly Six how to do it is already cool, but that's not all. Cuz do you want to know where the Deadly Six live? Their lair is a former Eggman base, MEANING that not only does Eggman KNOW how to turn people into robots, but he also currently has the technology to do so in present day. Someone call Tom from Game Theory, maybe we can get him to do an episode on this. Or heck, maybe this guy could even do it. Side note, DON'T actually call Tom, no one deserves to be harassed.
Okay SF Productions I Think I May Have Some Evidence Towards The Fourth Wall Break Theory: In Metallic Madness Bad Future We Have Many Lines In A Robotic Voice (Probably Metal) Saying Many Things But One That Caught My Attention Was "You Can’t Do Anything So Don’t Even Try It Get Some Help" Being Aware Of Us the Player And That We Got A Bad Future
08:30 maybe Sonic is actually a hedgehog but he wears a blue suit like a superhero costume; either for aesthetic, protection and/or protecting his true identity
On the whole "Hedgehog Suit" thing, while I don't believe it is true, there is something interesting I noticed while rewatching Sonic Underground recently before I saw this video (and thus before I'd heard of this theory). Sonic's sister, Sonia, has purple arms like her quills unlike Sonic and Manic's tan arms. However, (I don't remember the episode name, but) in one episode, it shows Sonia having a bath and in this scene, while she is submerged under the water, her arms as well as her torso are both inexplicably tan with only her head remaining purple. Presumably just a weird animation error by whoever was colouring that scene but interesting to think about.
Fun fact: one of the project leads on Sonic Xtreme got so sick to the point where he was told he only had six months left to live- thankfully he survived. Now imagine that the Nintendo theory is true. Nintendo would've caused a man to nearly die because of their competitive sabotaging. That would be hilariously dark lol
Sonic games have some easy-to-overlook dark moments like the last scene in this video with Amy in Sonic 3. Robotnik burned down Angel Island forest most likely killing plenty of animals. So his killing Tails isn't farfetched to me, but I'm sure that's not what that ending means.
Here's a joke theory I thought of: Sonic takes place in the future, as seen in the Archie Sonic games and Mario takes place in the present, 2017 as far as I calculated. Wario is 25 years old and would be born in 1992. Eggman was born in 3189. Wario and Eggman are both round, have goofy moustaches, are villains and have pink noses. Wario is Eggmans ancestor
IMHO "ugly" sonic isn't even ugly, he's just not how sonic used to look like, and I like both designs, the first one maybe would work in a more dark and adult sonic movie
the original sonic movie design was based on the realism that the TMNT 2014 and Transformers movies had with their characters, paramount assumed there wouldn’t be hate since those movies made bank, which is why it couldn’t be a publicity stunt, but rather a misdirection by the studio

4:56 I heard in a video that I don't remember the name that there was a more finished 06 build, however it was so unstable and crashed so much that they had to release an earlier, less finished build to meet SEGA's deadline
I think I remember hearing that somewhere too but I don’t even remember where I heard it from lel
Was about to comment this.
Actually I heard that the demo on the 360 store was an early beta version of the game while the retail release was a later alpha version
Yea, was it Sunshine Feeler’s video on 06?
From what I've heard, the 06 that was released was the most recent build, but a lot of the features were disabled.
The reason why I applause Sonic Boom and the Movie and other blue armed Sonic's out there
It's not the 1990's anymore so it wouldn't really make sense for Sonic to be the only male hedgehog to have flesh arms so it's nice to see the Movie and Boom make him look a bit more pleasant.... Still hate the games, Only liked the show-

When they finally “finished” sonic 06, they tried to test the game, but everytime they tried to run it, it kept on crashing, so they scrapped that old version, and rushed to make a new one
Yes, the unreleased build was only slightly better and finished than the one actually released
the theory about sonic and his friends being a bunch of kids playing and pretending with their older parent/guardian being eggman is so cute. I really want to see this as some sort of alternate concept because i love how endearing it is.
Mario IS Sonic. Mario wears a hedgehog suit like the tanooki and frog, ect...
Mario gave us Sonic.

Its a really cool form of silent storytelling and I'm surprised it was never brought back for any of the games.
and that’s why sonic CD is secretly the best classic 2D sonic game 😎
@@Feroror It is my favorite, though thats just a me thing
@@Feroror Artistically yes.
Should've kept it in permanently tbh
The old movie Sonic design was weird and when I first saw I was like they are going on a wrong path. The new design made me a lot more happy.
Surprised they didn't do a day one patch... 2006 wasn't quite so early they couldn't have.
@@keiyakins The game had patches, and even DLC, but it was never brought up to the build date of the demo, for some reason.

Tho i do gotta say he just did the games, tho naka just wasnt that great, i believe the true father of sonic is naoto ohshima , he made the character himself and was great person, he made his design and stuff, and even helps nowadays like in superstars even without being directly in sonic team, hes good, and better, tho idk who the other guy is, there was yuji naka, naoto ohshima, and some other guy who made sonic but does anyone know who and what he did?
maybe when sonic xtreme was in development Nintendo paid him a very big amount of money to make the game get cancelled that make more sense.
@@RClipsGaming101 it makes even more sense now bro if that is true that would be so crazy
Not a curse, its what having a bad personality does to your work and people around you.
But then again, Episode Shadow and the prequel comics were afterthoughts.
Maybe the plans were different at the start...
For some added context on the 06 theory: the reason why the tech demos generally look better is because those demos had separate teams with separate deadlines, so they had time to make improvements to various gameplay functions. But these tech demos were on 360, and the main platform was PS3 (since they’re Japanese obv) so these changes and fixes were never brought into the main development build of the game
Matt McMuscles talked about this in his what happened video for Sonic 06, shoutouts to him
For Sonic 06, I heard they had to release an older build of the game because the newer build was unstable which couldn't be fixed in time. I'm not sure how true this is though.
They never even play tested the game and knew it was completely broken but they couldn't do anything about it due to being rushed and half the development team being sent to work on sonic and the secret ring

for the theory where tails is dead, I think its a relative of tails, who joined sonic to get revenge on Eggman.
Another proof that debunks the "Tails is dead" theory is the good ending of sonic 2 8-bit, which shows Sonic and Tails in the Sky.

The "Tails is dead" theory is an old MatPat theory
Sure, Silver can stun lock you, but it's not like you're dealing with a dead save.
its said that yuji naka sabotaged x-treme beacause he wanted the 3d sonic game to be made by sonic team(sonic adventure)
So I don’t no when I’m pumping out the sonic colors ultimate review I’m trying to make short videos so when I find time summer break is coming but I’m probably not gonna have much time there either so I’ll try making the sonic ultimate review when I can. everyone knows sonic is a nice shade of crimson, where do you think the nickname "red hot sonic" comes from?
Wasn’t the final build of 06 based on an older version because their best build was unstable and crashed a lot so they had to use an older and more stable build because of the deadlines?
Pretty sure there’s even a page about it in the Lost Media wiki.
The thing about Eggman creating/altering Sonic’s world could make sense in-universe,irl it’s because Hilltop Zone was supposed to be an ancient stage (when Sonic 2 was still about time travel) which is why there’s lava and dinosaur-like enemies.
Not only when you keep stopped, but also when you die, he looks straight to the player with a face kinda like "The hell you doin'?"
Like he's mad for you letting him die in the game
i think the last theory is likely because tails was this awesome kid in sa1 and 2 and suddenly in all of the other games he's just this scared guy he doesnt mean anything and the reason tails was so confused in sonic forces because he was reading about himself when infinite beat up sonic and eggman probably used the timestones and went to the bad ending of sonic 2 8 BIT and stole that tails from there and turned him into infinite*
Even if tails did die in game gear sonic 2 that isn’t the canon ending so it’s moot either way

Incorrect sonic has been barking the forth wall since day one. Knew that and still got it wrong.
sorry not started but made common with the meta era you know because of the whole different writing direction
And even then there is still nuanced exceptions.)
A good example of this being the case, where some game is made without the 'official' development kit, is like how EA used to release their hockey games on Sega genesis. I think they didn't... hence part of the reason why the backwards engineering was needed.)
Anyways.
And I remember it mentioning something from the developers saying something along the lines of "We released the wrong version of the game."
So.
So Sega probably just said 'Screw it, and make sure the next release doesn't have these problems.'
To be fair to you, they really should have just put the update out anyways, if it really was the case that the wrong version got released.
Please, remember this.)
IN fact, at the time, my own internet speed was literally a maximum of 5mbps.
That would mean having to download 204800 megabits of data, assuming for the 25GB size the game might be needing to fully update. (not bytes, we're talking about network atm, not storage; which means we are working with bits and not bytes technically.)
That would be about 11-12 hours of downloading time, assuming the 5mbps speed I had at the time was going full throttle the whole time without any hiccups.
Oh, what's that you had a power outage at the 6th hour? Guess you get to restart that update. (If you can't just resume it, I forget if that was a thing yet for PS3. I think it was for 360, but not PS3... could be wrong, been a while.)
If it were a 50GB game update... that's nearly a whole day of update time at the same speeds.
Bluray today can handle up to 120~GB of data.
Just imagine if we had to do a full update of that... on those speeds.
Would be 2.5 days of update.
I think it's fair to say that most would say F.this, and move on to a different game... even at the lower sizes.
Naka didn't have to be paid to sabotague STI. He simply hates Americans with passion. And Mircosoft are to blame for rushing '06.

I can believe it, in the Archie comics apparently sonics dad got the robotnik treatment and was confused for another metal sonic
During Halloween, will you talk about sonic. EXE

Cool Video Bro!
Also in the good ending of Sonic 2 game gear/master system, sonic and tails are the sky
Sonic games have some easy-to-overlook dark moments like the last scene in this video with Amy in Sonic 3. Robotnik burned down Angel Island forest most likely killing plenty of animals. So his killing Tails isn't farfetched to me, but I'm sure that's not what that ending means.
Here's a joke theory I thought of:
Sonic takes place in the future, as seen in the Archie Sonic games and Mario takes place in the present, 2017 as far as I calculated.
Used to believe the publicity stunt thing, but I never knew just how much info we had about things before the redesign
