That single clip is so short but it's so infuriating. It's like the reviewer was intentionally trying to make the game look bad (which honestly wouldn't surprise me)
I actually liked the werehog stages. It broke up the gameplay into something different. If it were the same the whole time it would just be the same as every other game from sonic. It's not perfect, like the stages being too long for the werehog but it was still fun to play as the character.
@@elenajovanoska1806 wish we got more of that can you imagine tearing up hoards of Badniks as Knuckles or Shadow if Sonic Frontiers is of any indication a game like that is a possibility
I think if sega wants to use the werehog again and further improve the gameplay they should work with capcom to make the combat far better than what it was in unleashed (the unleashed combat is fun asf tho)
Even a 4.5/10 sounds like way too positive (or at least mixed if mostly negative) of a score for such a pissy review of a game that does so much right that it’s one of the best games in the franchise (maybe not the best of the best with some nitpicks every now and then, that would have to be Sonic Advance 3, S3&K (Genesis) and The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog IMO).
I know I'm the one in a million here but, I think Sonic Free Riders' score was valid. I got the privilege of playing the kinect in a large shed so I had plenty of room. In those circumstances, the kinect works as intended. The problem is most people were playing in lounge rooms and such which just simply isn't enough room for it to work (which IS a valid issue but still) Thus, I loved Free Riders and enjoyed other kinect games.
I approve this review but still the game is horrible, even if your Kinect is sensing your movements properly there are points that the Kinect becomes unresponsive even though there is nothing interfering with the kinect.
@@genyakozlov1316 wrong. If the device thats critical to playing the game is constantly malfunctioning, and there is no alternative option available, its a problem with the game. They very easily could have made the Kinect an OPTION for playing the game, but no, they made it the ONLY way to play it.
*List of good things about Sonic Free Riders* • Sonic’s friends finally standing up to Amy at her worst here. (Tails: I thought you liked that in Sonic. Amy: *But I’m supposed to be the one exception!!!!!* Knuckles: Yeah, exceptionally dense!) • The music is badass, which is to be expected from most Sonic games. • If it could get a sequel. That’s pretty much it.
I don’t think you realize that the people who write the review, record the footage, and do the voiceover are 3 different people in most IGN videos. That footage almost definitely doesn’t belong to the actual reviewer
But is that excuse-worthy? As big as IGN is they could easily have an inhouse system/method to keep everyone on the same page OR hand over all duties to the reviewer so everything is uniform OR get the different journalists to work closely together so the end result is a tight, coherent package OR have a dedicated person or crew to always review certain games so there's consistency across the board. They are literally spoiled for options but barely bother.
I get that IGN has different people doing different reviews, but there should be some sort of system in place so different reviewers get to review the game genres they like and are experienced with, instead of dumping a game on a reviewer they don't like and on top of that have no time to properly review. If they did that, there would less of shit like the SMT 5 review where the the review had no clue about SMT and misrepresented that game. Of course Sonic as series doesn't help its case when it changes gameplay styles like a popular girl changes clothes. Its not IGN's fault that Sonic has an brand identity crisis.
@Frog no one was asking them to be perfect. They were asking them to be competent. Their reputation as untrustworthy reviewers is a product of their own making, thanks in heavy part to their inconsistent tone and score comparisons meant to stay in the good graces of the companies that feed them copies of games rather than actual reviewing of content.
Similar to Watchmojo not Understanding what Makes franchise Good or Bad and Picks on 06 and Unleashed on their Flaws,IGN spreads No Mercy on it and makes Themselves as a Joke,is Pathetic and Sad.
Ngl, while Unleashed is (mostly) one hell of a game, Sonic 06 is a guilty pleasure when it comes to games (as much as it had major problems that keep the game away from greatness, there are also amazing things about this game before the 2010s when Sonic became a shell of its former self by repeating past issues and adding a lot more recent issues like character that are also shells of their former selves).
if I recall correctly, Sonic Unleashed (fave game of all time btw) has a lower score than the supposed "Franchise Killer" Sonic 06, which has a 4.7. and I thought Frontiers getting 1 nomination across 5 videogame award sites was bad. also while everyone talks about how slow and tedious the wherehog levels are, if you play the game more and get better (considering getting better ranks and improving yourself is the whole point of replay ability in a sonic game), you can cut them down immensely. Here's a shocking revelation, You can skip EVERY fight, that doesn't keep a wall blocked off or switch/keystone hidden until all the enemies are defeated. This is how the dreaded Eggmanland which could take up an hour to beat can actually be completed in just 10 minutes with no deaths. It might actually be my favourite level in the game, I love how much challenge there is to run through it as quickly as I can.
As someone who thinks defenders of Sonic Unleashed like your own (and J’s Reviews’) instead of defenders of negativity towards this game in favour of (slightly) later Sonic games (even ExoParadigmGamer, a YouRube I like is guilty of that bias) think the real “Franchise Killer” of the Sonic franchise (it’s never REALLY been dead, it just means standards for the franchise are set to a way lower bar as of the 2010s because of underwhelming graphics (post-2012/pre-Frontiers), hit or miss soundtracks, unoriginality and bad tempers from flanderized characters, mainly Sonic’s “friends”) would have to be Sonic Free Riders
Which is what assassinated the characters by turning Sonic into an unapologetic, narcissistic Gary Stu (which he only sometimes was in the decades between the 1980s and 1990s but usually came with more personality than just some Karma Houdini with hero complex), Tails into a tantrummy coward like in the Archie Comics, Amy Rose into a Karen who always forces Sonic to remember her date like she’s Sally Acorn in the Archie Comics (which may sound at this rate like I flat-out hate them. And while they were most certainly at their worst from issues 88-159, they just got turned over a new leaf by Ian Flynn and his team of actually good Sonic writers), Knuckles into the same as Tails with a similar hatred towards Sonic, Shadow into a murderer that thought he was so edgy, Eggman becoming a joke instead of a bad guy with a heart of gold (like in Adventure 2 and Forces) and more.
@@kieranstark7213 lol karen is the best way to describe the modern games amy. Seriously what happened to the kind and wholesome girl that convinced shadow to save the world or the girl who went out of her way to protect one small bird. Sure she wants sonic, who wouldn't but the writers for the games after adventure 2 seem to not understand this. Though honestly the writing imo hasn't come close to adventure 2 until frontiers because they got rid of the guy who made the story for that.
@@jurassicarkjordanisgreat1778 Also Black Knight, Secret Rings, Unleashed and Battle, wich are pretty much the best Sonic stories in the videogame realm
I had fun playing Sonic Unleashed, the fast pace stages, the combat fighting, and the upgrading system looks fun and challenging, and the story looks amazing along with sound track, and the hub world is cool and all but the problem is, its kinda small, not like the 06 hub world… :D This is my opinion for my fav game….
I just kinda wished they had different battle music for the werehog depending on which area of the world you’re in, like how Spagonia would have slightly different battle them compared to chun-nan for example. I guess that’s probably me nitpicking though, because I love almost everything else
This is honestly why I can never take these "professional" reviewers / critics seriously. I really don't give a crud to sites like IGN, Rotten Tomatoes, Gamestop, etc for particular reasons. They give some sloppy and poor explanations, they don't go into the details of the problems, and may just say do or don't buy the product. If something catches your interest, check it out and judge it for yourself. No one's in charge of you and the one to make the decision whether or not something's good or bad is ourselves.
This is so true! Like, I don't give a sh*t about what other people say about the game, stuff like : 'hhh tHe WeRehOg stAgES WErE sO BaD, ThATs wHY tHe WholE gamE sUCKs!! DoNt WAsTe YoUr mONEy oN thIs GaME!!1!1 🤓🤓' and bullsh*t like that. Like, if I like the game I play it and I will enjoy it my way lmfao. No one gonna stop me from buying it anyway lol.
Sometimes I find it fun to mimick the IGN gameplay I don't know why, I just find it fun to mock how badly that guy played. (As well as that cuphead reviewer guy)
I think the problem with reviews for sonic games like those from IGN is that they can't really talk about one of the most critical aspect of what makes sonic games fun : replayability. Since most of the time they don't even finish the game, I find the amount of influence they have (not only on consumers but also on sega, probably why we never got a re-release of unleashed on modern hardware) kinda stupid overall. No wonder more and more people straight up abandoned these more "traditional" reviewers to the benefit of independent testers, witch are closer to their communities and therefore I think, give a more subjective opinion.
I wish you saw the one for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle; (forgot if it was from ign or not) but more than half of his complaints were not actually problems in the game, I think he was just angry when he wrote the review
Me playing Sonic Unleashed when i was 12 for the first time was higher quality gameplay than that reviewer's gameplay. Actually, my then 8 year old sister playing was better too. It's impressive how bad that was.
I agree with IGN that Sonic's speed shouldn't be upgradable. It's a problem when you try a fresh save file and want to replay entire adventure with S ranks but it might be impossible without glitches.
One more thing: Why the hell did they call Frontiers' combat repetetive and gave it 7/10? It is probably the best Sonic game since Unleashed and may be even better than that
There always seemed a different mechanic to do against the enemies unless specifically avoiding a certain type idk how it's repetitive, if you like spamming attack there's the basic knives guys lol, spin dash is most enemies, circle for armor break, and your flavor or face button animation.
@@milesedgeworth8683 i love frontiers and i think it did A LOT of rights but pop-in with these graphics is simply unacceptable outside the switch and the combat can be quite repetitive. while the writing is great the cutscenes are way too stiff and the characters barely move 90% of the time. those ARE valid criticisms
In 2008, people complained about Sonic Unleashed's pits and level design. IGN's 2008 was what the readers wanted IGN to say. 2008 was also when most gamers on forums were saying "Sonic's cast needs to go." So in 2008, the moment they showed the Werehog, people were angry and arguing with Sonic Team. Mid-2010s, alot of people simply left the Sonic fanbase, which left this group that defend most Sonic games
I have a theory that IGN didn’t review the games on their merits, rather they reviewed it by trying to figure out what they thought the general population would make of it. Like, “hmmm, it’s cool to hate on sonic now, so we better give it a bad review”. It’s why I think that IGN giving a 7/10 is them trying to find the middle ground, because they have no idea if they are supposed to hate it or not
I'd personally add IGN's Sonic Lost World review to the list. Lost World was a great game, yet IGN gave it a 5.8 just because it tried out something different. Not to mention, Forces exists thanks to Lost World's reception.
Ok so I have a couple of things to say ok? So The reason why the reviews are so inconsistent is manly because there are different people review the games like for example the guy who review unleashed hd is the same person that review sonic 4 episode 1 and the sonic free riders review is the same person that review sonic generations. IGN's recent top 10 sonic games are different here is there list: 10: sonic unleashed 9: sonic rush 8: sonic 2 7: sonic CD 6: sonic 3 5: sonic colors 4: sonic advance 1 3: sonic adventure 2 2: sonic mania 1: sonic generation
@@SFproductions1 by the way here's ign opinion on the sonic boom games Sonic boom rise of lyrics: 4.3/10 bad Sonic boom shattered crystals: 4/10 bad Sonic boom fire and ice: 7.5/10 Also all of these 3 were reviewed by different people and in the sonic boom fire and ice review the dude literally said this: I would hope to see some ikruga challenges time and missions and get this the review was made in 2016 6 years before sonic frontier came out I guess that guy predict the future.
I despise Sonic 4: Episode I, one of the worst games in the entire franchise, spin-offs included. Sonic 4: Episode II is a completely different experience however, I actually love Episode II, it's one of my favorites.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episode 1 has a good to decent review score. How is that prove it does not deserve some good score, lower then 8/10 score would be fine.
IGN basically hated on Sonic because it was the popular thing to do and nothing else. Remember they backpeddled when their whole "Sonic was never good" thing.
About leaving a good idea alone the thing is since sonic goes through stages incredibly fast the devs have to make stages incredibly long to match players blowing through them at high speeds so adding slower sections is just a way to take the weight of their shoulders for a bit and if you look at it that way it becomes far more understandable
I think a much fairer quote than “Sonic was never/always good” would have to be “Sonic can either be good or bad depending on the games and other media”.
If you want a tip to make Sonic Free Riders’ controls better, limit the light to a minimum. The Xbox 360 literally says before loading the game, “Adjust the brightness for better controls” or something like that. Once you do that, it works like a charm. And am I the only one here who ACTUALLY likes Free Riders? I play it all the time.
The Werehog it's still to this day the most polished gimmick/alternative gameplay style in the franchise history, no other gimmick has had this level of depth and detail put into it. Mech shooting, treasure hunting, OG fishing, Classic Sonic, Avatar, Excalibur, Teams, Wisps, Guns, Vehicles, Cyberspace, nothing comes near to it. And it's also the best combat system in a Sonic game. Nor Battle, nor Fighters, nor Heroes, nor 06, nor Black Knight, hell, nor even Frontiers can get close to it
I think that Sonic Free Riders is one of the best Kinect games there is... which might speak volumes about the Kinect itself. Worthy of more than a 7.5 if we are exclusively talking about Kinect games. If actual games are considered... not nearly lol I got all achievements on Sonic Free Riders. I would say that you can eventually master the controls of the game... when the Kinect actually registers your movements. If you have any questions about my full achievement journey, feel free to ask!
@@SFproductions1 The Kinect is very senstive to most things. Lighting in the room, how much stuff is in the background, what color clothes you're wearing, and even your skin color. Kinect has an easier time picking up lighter colors than darker colors. So, wear red, light blue, yellow, ect. This also goes into skin tone; the lighter your skin tone, the more likely it is to work, the darker your skin tone, the harder it will be to work. Defintely not a great look for the Kinect here! Kinect has always been temperimental, but those issues specficially are what causes it to have issues. There were a couple of times that a time of day change cause my kinect to stop responding at all; not only did Sonic not work, other Kinect games didn't work. Had to stop playing for the day and hope the device wanted to work when I came back.
@@SFproductions1 It's a fun time if the Kinect is working as intended! The issue with this game, like every other Kinect game, is hoping and praying that it wants to work. Good luck! It is a fun time with friends!
The Unleashed review comes off as petty. I don’t say that purely out of a simple disagreement, but most of the footage is of him playing it incorrectly and making repeated simple mistakes, like mashing the Boost button or jumping right over a launch pad. My guess is that he had a bad first impression of the game or just didn’t understand how the game is supposed to be played, and then decided to lash out at the game in an emotionally-fueled rant where he slams every aspect of the game. It’s about as childish and unprofessional as you can get.
I can understand critiquing Sonic 06 or the storybook games but they gave Sonic Unleashed a terrible score is just mean and terrible reviewing, Sonic Unleashed was one of the last games that Sega made that had a lot of soul and effort into it, more than the new and older games combined
"That had a lot of soul" Sonic generations, colours, black knight, lost world, boom, mania and frontiers don't exists to you? Also passion doesnt equal quality.
@@smolggenguffenfugs7844 boom is a great example, the team behind boom were big sonic fans that wanted to ree-invent the franchise, and they had a mountain of cool and interesting ideas for the story, characters and designs but sega limited what they could do, forced them to redo the game multiple times, rushed the team to get the game out for a holiday release and forced them to make it a wii u exclusive. Youre really good at coming to conclusions, they said "one of the last even comapred to new games" and i brought up sonic frontiers, a new game, so sonic unleashed isnt "one of the last games that had a lot of soul"
@@christosdoesthings "Youre really good at coming to conclusions" yet you did the same the on your last comment and again your reading comprehension fails you again if you count a decades time sonic unleashed realisticly WAS one of the last the last games that had soul at the time just because sega rushed the devs doesnt mean anything but "what could have been" boom still sucks. a bad games still a bad game at the end of the day whatever soul that could have been there isnt case and point.
@@smolggenguffenfugs7844 this was never about the quality of the games tho, it was about the passion and soul that went into it. Sonic 06 is shit, but there was a lot of soul put into it for example. There was nothing in the original comment about quality, neither was it implied. Also, like i already said, sonic unleashed wasn't one of the last games that had a lot of passion put into it, even if you count that "decades worth of games" since the games in that decade had a lot of games with passion, despite their actual quality (like the 2000s).
I was doing a self-challenge for Unleashed and trying to S-Rank every stage, starting with the daytime levels. I quickly noticed that doing all the daytimes all the time... things got... kinda boring??? Most of the daytimes have a "checklist" which is: • area of minor parkour (quicktime step-by-step area) • have triplet laser guys • have one big angry arms robot Playing the daytime stages over and over just to S-Rank them all got me to really appreciate the werehog levels. Sure, I didn't have a problem with them to begin with, but I was also always itching to get to those delicious daytimes. I'm aware, the nighttimes can get old and tedious as well, but so can the daytimes, which is my point. PS: Collecting all the coins in daytime is a tragedy, why sega, why
I still find it hilarious that ign somehow manages to have an opinion that will almost always contradict the fanbase, but seriously good video this is a great channel I've stumbled onto!
Isn't Bayonetta 3 a good game though? I've seen mainly positive reception about it while the general consensus is that Frontiers is also good but it still needs a lot of work.
i remember doing the crappy big gear gimick in sonic 4 as super sonic and it goes fast as hell, why does it move that slow with normal sonic? its so bad (btw what im talking about shows up at 1:37)
I personally really like the Werehog stages for what they are but I can understand others not enjoying as much The "Style/Spectacle Fighter" genre actually fits Sonic really well since both encourages playing in a fast and stylish way, plus there's a surprising amount of extra movement tech you can pull off using your different combos and grabs. Felt amazing just discovering that the (X,X,A) moves function as high and long jumps when on the ground and in the air respectfully
Ok, I don’t really play a ton of Sonic games but these reviews just make me want to go to IGN HQ, with a weapon, and threaten them with a mob of people to change the reviews for the Sonic games, (and other games to I guess I don’t watch IGN) Like, Sonic Unleashed XBox 360/ PS3 gets a 4.5/10 whereas the Wii version (which is technically almost the same thing) gets a damm 7/10 Free Riders is easily a 2/10 from me, maybe a tiny bit higher like a 3, but a 7.5 for garbage controls makes no sense And Sonic 4… for context, I watch a certain TH-camr who does “Everything Wrong With” videos and man, just seeing how Sonic 4 plays is just garbage, and, what do you know, it gets a good score… because of course… why wouldn’t be its IG f**king N I don’t know why the hell Frontiers has a 7/10 as I never watched the review, but aside from the popups that appear, this game is really good, a 8.5 or a 9 would’ve been aceptable but a 7… really? And that is all for my rant, thank you for reading and if you want to contradict something, that’s fine, unlike IGN, I respect people’s opinions, it’s not like people joined the Sonic community to f the characters (something said by IGN themselves btw, oh and that Sonic was never good) For those who somehow never heard that, let that sink in…
pocket adventure is definitely in my top 10 sonic games, as it is a genuinely solid game and a great predecessor to the advance trilogy, but to give it a perfect 10 is like calling re:coded the definitive kingdom hearts experience.
This is litteraly my thoughts about IGN. I don't really care about rewiers like IGN because of this reason. By the way, Love your videos! Keep up the good work SF Productions👍!!!
Whoever thought about giving Sonic 4 an 8/10 and giving Sonic Unleashed 4.5/10 is actually the most questionable person ever. Giving a good rating for an uninspired game and a bad rating for a game with one of the best rendered cutscenes is the most stupid thing I've ever seen.
People tend to forget that these are just the opinions of people who work for IGN. If they don't like Unleashed, they don't like Unleashed. They have different tastes.
What a treat having an angry Sonic with his finger up in the thumbnail to describe when IGN stuck their snotty noses into the broken Sonic fandom (if you can even call it that) to underrate an epic Sonic game (Sonic Unleashed) and overrate mediocre ones! Having opinions is one thing, but forcing others to agree when they make up bs is indefensible.
Although, to be fair, it would be nice if in this video, you also remembered to cover IGN giving Sonic Colours an Generations an 8.5 (they’re okay, but if they didn’t turn Sonic & Tails into a one-dimensional hero and sidekick, these games (except for maybe the DS version of SC) would have been a lot more likely to live up to that score), Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric a 4.5 (“it’s bad, but not THAT bad.” With the exception of IGN, most people find SBROL (and just Sonic Boom in general. As a series of games, not as a cartoon because of how funny it was despite unfortunately only living for 3 years but should be renewed for a third season with new characters in their Boom redesigns for the LULZ) sometime after Prime) to be the worst Sonic game since Sonic ‘06, and boy, does it show…), giving Sonic Forces (and Sonic and the Secret Rings) a “Good” 7/10.
I'm gonna be honest. I didn't really like Sonic Unleashed. I liked the combat system during the night, but after the first temple it just dropped me off with "go here" without explaining that for me to even go there I needed to collect some medals, and by some I mean like a ton of them. I hope unleashed gets remade and drops that part, it's tedious for collectables to be required to progress.
@@kieranstark7213 no, quite the opposite, IGN was a bullshit review. My only gripe with the game is the forced medal collection I only played the original xbox version, i had 0 clue there was an hd version already
Then play the WII version, the werehog is worse and the graphics look less appealing but the day stages are pure speed, the night ones are divided into 3 acts and the medals do jackshit.
The only review I agree with is the Free Riders one. As ngl, Kinect controls are an acquired taste and I have that taste. And it worked just fine for me. Ironically, Free Riders's controls were personally the easiest ones for me to get.
Sonic unleashed night stages were a bit to long for me. I enjoyed pummeling monsters with stretchy arms, but I think they could have shortened the stages a tad. Also, I really didn't care for the night stage platforms. Especially the segments where you had to do tightrope acts. Everything else was fun. I personally give it a 7 out of 10.

If that's possible, someone needs to leave a negative review on IGN's review of Sonic Unleashed that just says "Idk man that's clearly a skill issue"
I actually liked the werehog stages. It broke up the gameplay into something different. If it were the same the whole time it would just be the same as every other game from sonic. It's not perfect, like the stages being too long for the werehog but it was still fun to play as the character.
I loved the werehog because it was literally a SONIC beat em up and I love that

Same for me.
I think if sega wants to use the werehog again and further improve the gameplay they should work with capcom to make the combat far better than what it was in unleashed (the unleashed combat is fun asf tho)
Fun fact: The guy who reviewed Sonic Unleashed Left IGN
Even a 4.5/10 sounds like way too positive (or at least mixed if mostly negative) of a score for such a pissy review of a game that does so much right that it’s one of the best games in the franchise (maybe not the best of the best with some nitpicks every now and then, that would have to be Sonic Advance 3, S3&K (Genesis) and The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog IMO).

@@the757general2 oh!
I know I'm the one in a million here but, I think Sonic Free Riders' score was valid.
I got the privilege of playing the kinect in a large shed so I had plenty of room. In those circumstances, the kinect works as intended. The problem is most people were playing in lounge rooms and such which just simply isn't enough room for it to work (which IS a valid issue but still)
Thus, I loved Free Riders and enjoyed other kinect games.
I approve this review but still the game is horrible, even if your Kinect is sensing your movements properly there are points that the Kinect becomes unresponsive even though there is nothing interfering with the kinect.
@@TH-rx1kt A flaw of Kinect is not the game's fault.
@@genyakozlov1316 wrong. If the device thats critical to playing the game is constantly malfunctioning, and there is no alternative option available, its a problem with the game. *List of good things about Sonic Free Riders*
• Sonic’s friends finally standing up to Amy at her worst here. (Tails: I thought you liked that in Sonic. Amy: *But I’m supposed to be the one exception!!!!!* Knuckles: Yeah, exceptionally dense!)
• The music is badass, which is to be expected from most Sonic games.
• If it could get a sequel.
That’s pretty much it.
Free Riders used to be my favourite game
I have low standards
I don’t think you realize that the people who write the review, record the footage, and do the voiceover are 3 different people in most IGN videos. That footage almost definitely doesn’t belong to the actual reviewer
That makes sense! Thanks for pointing that out!
@@maxwellkamlongera5158 jesus christ they're just a game review aggregator they don't have to be divinely perfect beings
1 year later IGN gave Sonic x shadow generations a 9/10
Similar to Watchmojo not Understanding what Makes franchise Good or Bad and Picks on 06 and Unleashed on their Flaws,IGN spreads No Mercy on it and makes Themselves as a Joke,is Pathetic and Sad.
As someone who thinks defenders of Sonic Unleashed like your own (and J’s Reviews’) instead of defenders of negativity towards this game in favour of (slightly) later Sonic games (even ExoParadigmGamer, a YouRube I like is guilty of that bias) think the real “Franchise Killer” of the Sonic franchise (it’s never REALLY been dead, it just means standards for the franchise are set to a way lower bar as of the 2010s because of underwhelming graphics (post-2012/pre-Frontiers), hit or miss soundtracks, unoriginality and bad tempers from flanderized characters, mainly Sonic’s “friends”) would have to be Sonic Free Riders
i got s ranks in werehog and i die alot
Sonic unleashed is also my fav game ever and eggmanland iis my fav too!
We can all agree that IGN is just bad at rating Games and they hate on Sonic without any reason most of the Time
Which is what assassinated the characters by turning Sonic into an unapologetic, narcissistic Gary Stu (which he only sometimes was in the decades between the 1980s and 1990s but usually came with more personality than just some Karma Houdini with hero complex), Tails into a tantrummy coward like in the Archie Comics, Amy Rose into a Karen who always forces Sonic to remember her date like she’s Sally Acorn in the Archie Comics (which may sound at this rate like I flat-out hate them.
Also, IGN did tell us some interesting information about the Sonic unleashed reviewer.
I think IGN apologized to save face (the dark side of it).
I had fun playing Sonic Unleashed, the fast pace stages, the combat fighting, and the upgrading system looks fun and challenging, and the story looks amazing along with sound track, and the hub world is cool and all but the problem is, its kinda small, not like the 06 hub world…
:D
This is my opinion for my fav game….
Well said.

Sometimes I find it fun to mimick the IGN gameplay
I don't know why, I just find it fun to mock how badly that guy played.
As a person who has never played any of these games, I can agree that ign sucks.
R.I.P Sonic Unleashed freaking IGN gave it a bad review I mean IGN did update it a few years ago

Ngl, I dislike sa2
Me playing Sonic Unleashed when i was 12 for the first time was higher quality gameplay than that reviewer's gameplay.
Actually, my then 8 year old sister playing was better too. It's impressive how bad that was.
I agree with IGN that Sonic's speed shouldn't be upgradable. It's a problem when you try a fresh save file and want to replay entire adventure with S ranks but it might be impossible without glitches.
Game journalism shouldn’t give any reviews of Sonic’s games and instead should let the audiences to dictate the reviews
One more thing: Why the hell did they call Frontiers' combat repetetive and gave it 7/10? It is probably the best Sonic game since Unleashed and may be even better than that
Well that's actually a valid criticism if you ask me
@@SFproductions1 they went way overboard with it. Pop-ins are such a minor thing + the combat is still better than in Unleashed
There always seemed a different mechanic to do against the enemies unless specifically avoiding a certain type idk how it's repetitive, if you like spamming attack there's the basic knives guys lol, spin dash is most enemies, circle for armor break, and your flavor or face button animation.
No generations is the best sense unleashed in my opinion
@@milesedgeworth8683 i love frontiers and i think it did A LOT of rights but pop-in with these graphics is simply unacceptable outside the switch and the combat can be quite repetitive. while the writing is great the cutscenes are way too stiff and the characters barely move 90% of the time. those ARE valid criticisms
In 2008, people complained about Sonic Unleashed's pits and level design. IGN's 2008 was what the readers wanted IGN to say. 2008 was also when most gamers on forums were saying "Sonic's cast needs to go."
So in 2008, the moment they showed the Werehog, people were angry and arguing with Sonic Team. Mid-2010s, alot of people simply left the Sonic fanbase, which left this group that defend most Sonic games
The sonic unleashed reviewer probably was like "ok the fans hate it so imma blast this game just like eggman blasted the moon."

I played Sonic unleashed when I was like 6 but I liked the Werehog stages more than the Speed stages
They hate star fox 2 because the graphics are horrible when it was made in the 90's
perfect name
When a COMPANY thinks Green Hill was created in Sonic 2 and they don't know how boosting works, they should not review this.
Keep up the great work! Maybe you can do this for other game franchises

I can’t believe ign said quote Sonic was always good
I think a much fairer quote than “Sonic was never/always good” would have to be “Sonic can either be good or bad depending on the games and other media”.
If you want a tip to make Sonic Free Riders’ controls better, limit the light to a minimum. The Xbox 360 literally says before loading the game, “Adjust the brightness for better controls” or something like that. Once you do that, it works like a charm.

Did you find a way to get the Kinect to work consistently? Was there anything specific you did to make it work well?
@@SFproductions1 The Kinect is very senstive to most things. Lighting in the room, how much stuff is in the background, what color clothes you're wearing, and even your skin color.
Kinect has an easier time picking up lighter colors than darker colors. So, wear red, light blue, yellow, ect. This also goes into skin tone; the lighter your skin tone, the more likely it is to work, the darker your skin tone, the harder it will be to work. Defintely not a great look for the Kinect here!
Kinect has always been temperimental, but those issues specficially are what causes it to have issues.

Most of the daytimes have a "checklist" which is:
• area of minor parkour (quicktime step-by-step area)
• have triplet laser guys
• have one big angry arms robot
Playing the daytime stages over and over just to S-Rank them all got me to really appreciate the werehog levels. Sure, I didn't have a problem with them to begin with, but I was also always itching to get to those delicious daytimes. I'm aware, the nighttimes can get old and tedious as well, but so can the daytimes, which is my point.

The "Style/Spectacle Fighter" genre actually fits Sonic really well since both encourages playing in a fast and stylish way, plus there's a surprising amount of extra movement tech you can pull off using your different combos and grabs. Felt amazing just discovering that the (X,X,A) moves function as high and long jumps when on the ground and in the air respectfully

I liked the combat system during the night, but after the first temple it just dropped me off with "go here" without explaining that for me to even go there I needed to collect some medals, and by some I mean like a ton of them.
I hope unleashed gets remade and drops that part, it's tedious for collectables to be required to progress.
So you think IGN’s review of Unleashed was more fair than every positive review of the game (mainly the HD version) in the world?
@@kieranstark7213 no, quite the opposite, IGN was a bullshit review.
My only gripe with the game is the forced medal collection
I only played the original xbox version, i had 0 clue there was an hd version already
Ok!
@@harvetwound1234the HD version IS the Xbox/PS3 version. The Non-HD version is the Wii/PS2 version.
Then play the WII version, the werehog is worse and the graphics look less appealing but the day stages are pure speed, the night ones are divided into 3 acts and the medals do jackshit.
Plot twist. IGN is secretly invested by Dr. Eggman
The only review I agree with is the Free Riders one. As ngl, Kinect controls are an acquired taste and I have that taste. And it worked just fine for me. Ironically, Free Riders's controls were personally the easiest ones for me to get.
So . . . Unleashed would be better if it just focused on the Daytime levels and ignored the Werehog stuff?
Sonic unleashed night stages were a bit to long for me. I enjoyed pummeling monsters with stretchy arms, but I think they could have shortened the stages a tad. Also, I really didn't care for the night stage platforms. Especially the segments where you had to do tightrope acts. Everything else was fun. I personally give it a 7 out of 10.
Has anyone else ever thought that Sonic 4 is the prequel to Sonic Adventure? Both episodes have the Modern Sonic models, but nobody talks, similar to the Classic characters (unless you count Sonic and Amy in Sonic CD).
I hate the fact that they gave Sonic frontiers a 7 and dustborn a 7 which is so unfair
God forbid they give him stretchy arms in the video game in the fictional world
