- Hey everyone! Did you ever wonder if Darth Vader had an apprentice? This was forbidden with the Rule of 2...but in Legends...he broke that rule. I see some lineage here with Kylo Ren and Rey...I wonder if we'll see some things in Star Wars The Last Jedi from the Legends world with Luke Skywalker and the rest...

Lumiya is a great villain and yes I would like to see someone like her in the next SW movie. But you know wouldn't it be great if they had a movie series that takes place between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens." Lumiya would make for a wonderful villain in that series. Because it's almost criminal that someone as scary as her isn't more represented on at least the small screen it not the big one.

The answer is five: Galen Marek, the Dark Apprentice, Tao, Shira Elan Colla Brie (better known as Lumiya) and Flint were all Darth Vader's secret Sith apprentices. He also had a number of publicly known apprentices in Procurator of Justice Hethrir, High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne, High Inquisitor Halmere, Inquisitor Lanu Pasiq, Inquisitor Gwellib Ap-Llewff, and the Dark Side Adepts Kharys, Rillao, and Admiral Vost Tyne. But of course, none of his public apprentices were actually Sith.

I wouldn't say she's one dimensional, but it did feel like she was steam rolling through a lot of challenges. Maybe she if had lost to Kylo in the Force Awakens, it would both justify her needing training from Luke and make it more exciting when she finally defeated him.

How is legends so different from the movies, the Sith and Jedi seem so much more extraordinary with their force powers. Why can't these feats be translated over to live action?
Well, there are the Role Playing Games.
Even if you have no one to play the games with. They are still fun books to read. If you like doing "Math word problems," they are great books to have.

A lot of these legends are just like fan fictions, or comics not made by George Lucas, and so it differs and they aren't accurate to the "facts", however, some of the more believable tales are from the original Star Wars books by George Lucas

Prior to her crashing, She and Luke were in a mission where they used Tie Fighters to infiltrate the Empire. Luke git confused and shot her down.
I was about to comment about that same fact. Had that comic. They were going out to destroy this alien the empire had found. I think it was called "the screamer".

Actually Luke got unconfused. The Force told him to shoot her ship. He only found out later that it was Shira he had 'killed', and he was expelled from the Rebellion for her murder and had to clear his name by proving she was a spy.

Would have been nice if Disney could have used this to create the sequel trilogy. It kind of already matches up with all that was created. She could have taken the mantle as the main Sith with Kylo Ren under her and built the first order from the Empire. A secret apprentice of Darth Vader that would rise up to continue the fight would be a great story. Seems all the pieces for that are here with this storyline.

Lumiya works better with Disney's new timeline. Galen's story took place two years before Episode IV, and Rebels Season 3 took place at that exact time. Only chance of Starkiller coming back into canon is as a Sith Ezra. Lumiya, however, could show up in Rebels Season 4, or Episodes 8/9.
Starkiller could easily be canon imo. Vader could just treat Ezra and his people as unfit for a proper training exercise for Starkiller, and send him off to do what he does in TFU1. His rebellion could be the real one, while Ezra’s doesn’t end up being created

Galen’s timeline is between three and four, not after, this is different, it’s possible Vader would get another apprentice, he even cloned Galen once. (Boy he raised as Starkiller)

Lumia survived the roku depot and Luke and Lumia dueled when she said she had killed Mara. She let Luke kill her. I’ve read the legacy of the force novels . She knew she would die.
You were wrong about how lumiya died, she didn't die in the explosion. Instead she escaped and after Mara died by Jacen's hand, lumiya took credit and had one final duel with luke where he decapitated her in a brutal revenge kill which emotionally wrecked luke and pushed him closer to the dark side.

Few things wrong here,Luke is the one that shot her down when she was with the alliance,because the force warned him he was in danger.and she did not die at the point in the cantina,Luke hunted her down and killed her after Mara was killed,that was the reason he would not go after cadus,because he was tainted by the dark side for hunting her down and killing her in anger

Actually Shira Brie's injuries were caused by Luke shooting her down. She, Luke and and a few other pilots were were flying modified TIE fighters. In a battle with imperial forces where friend or foe could not be established, Luke used the force. The trip to Shalyvane was to find evidence to clear Luke's name.
Disney won't make anything new or unqiue for this canon version of Star Wars. Because all Disney does is copy and paste things from the originals. :(

or, count dooku betrayed palpatine, general greivous sucessfully invaded kamino, the seperatists were created in different circumstances, there are quite a few things that could have led to a CIS victory, remember palpatine was going to keep the war going if mace and the other jedi didnt storm his office

I seem to remember Lumiya being shot down by Luke when they were flying stolen TIE Fighters in a mission. Luke used the Force to see if the occupant of another TIE was an enemy or not and the Force told him the pilot was. This TIE was piloted by Lumiya and got shot down. Luke was put on trial when the occupant was revealed. It wasnt due to a fighter crash
Luke even describes this in a panel you show at 4:06. So yeah, you're wrong.
I always liked the character of Lumiya (although I pronounce it with a long 'I', Lu-MY-uh), cuz that's how I heard it read in the Legacy of the Force audiobooks. But I was aware of her in the Marvel comics and found her fascinating. In fact, it was her action figure release as part of a comic 2-pack that got me collecting figures again.
@Star Wars Theory - good job, but in the process to make this video quite short (and maybe easy to view that way), you ended with missing or messing up a bunch of stuff:
Luke didn't learn Shira's true identity until after he shot her down (and taking all blame for shooting down an ally and fellow member of the Rebel Alliance, both outward and self-imposed).
After she amassed the fleet and harrased New Republic, she was betrayed by one of her later apprentices, former imperial guardsman Carnor Jax, though the attempt was unsuccessful and Jax was killed by his former coleague. Then Lumiya went to Korriban and later to outer rim to learn more about the Sith. She found out about One Sith (a shadowy order at that time who wanted to rectify the mistakes of Rule of Two), but Yuuzhan Vong invasion stopped her from meeting with them. And it was only at that time when she met Vergere and made her plan to turn Jacen Solo to the Dark Side, starting with him being captured and broken by Yuuzhan Vong and manipulated by Vergere.
Also, her story also didn't end at the Roqoo Depot, as she survived the duel and continued with her training of Jacen Solo. And after Jacen murdered (or killed in self-defence, depends on the point of view) Mara Jade Skywalker, she was for the final time confronted by Luke Skywalker, who thought she is one to blame for his wife's death.

Wolf Warrior actually it was completely canon to Legends. The comics and novels at least. The games can be a bit hyperbolic with force abilities but that’s one of the things that made them great,
Just One Guy Actually TFU was canon before Disney turned the EU into Legends. Rebels was made after that. Oh and actually, Lumiya is Legends too. Basically most of the better Star Wars content is Legends.

Lumiya is interesting like you said Star Wars Theory and I think they should have her and other book characters like Darth Reven and my favourite Janek Sunber should appear in future TV shows instead of making TV OCs also I think Lumiya is a worthy ally of Lord Vader.
Never heard of this character and I read many of the novels up through the Yuuzan Vong series and remember Jacen Solo begin to embrace both light an dark side which is a concept now part of the new series. Much of the art shown in this clip looks like it came from a comic book.

Pretty sure it was Vergere NOT Lumiya that planted the seeds of the dark side in Jacen during his captivity. Lumiya only worked of the groundwork laid by Vergere and finalized Jacens change into Darth Caedus.

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 8 BELOW (REGARDING MY COMPARISONS TO THIS CHARACTER)
After Snokes death, Kylo Ren and Rey square off against Snokes royal guards (Red guys can't remember what they're called). The Guards feature armor similar to samurai warriors and we never see their faces or really know anything about them (since they all die in that fight scene). Anyway, alothough none of them are force sensitive, they are strong in combat, specifically with weapons. One of them is even seen with a lightsaber-like chain weapon, similar to what this character uses. Anyway, the character that uses that weapon was the only guard able to get an upper hand on rey, another female force user.
