      All the best, yes make sure you use a high grade DPM not the thin one as it will Pearce with sand blending also. See our previous videos on how to. All the best with your project ! Give us a shout if you need anything.

    Great quality information for ordinary people like me who are learning the rubrics of building a home for the first time. I like the fact that you advised strongly, the use of Ghana building code as well. Well done and greetings from a Ghanaian in the US ❤

    Awesome info. Honestly out of all the building ive seen here in Ghana, this is the first I've seen use DPC this way and that is so encouraging. Im so weary of damp and sometimes it seems prevention is never enough. But with redundancy on every level and quality materials, its possible to build here without the home turning in to a lemon. Thank you for this 🙏🏾

    So far, there is no perfect solution to our water dumping problem in Ghana. Everyone have some time of solution that we can always rethink through to see if this the right solution.
    I like this method but the issue on this is, if the rubber prevents the dump from rising, won’t it stay beneath and eat up the concrete and weaken the foundation?
    I have no idea but I hope your solution helps because building in Ghana now is expensive but this evil water dumping is a headache.
    We need our engineers to come up with a one fit solution for us.

    • @princenikki
      @princenikki  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, there is a perfect solution for preventing rising dampness, and it's all written down in the Ghanaian building regulations and codes, but it's not followed. It's important to select the appropriate DPM based on land conditions. The specially formulated rubber must be laid in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions by ensuring that the minimum overlapping requirements are adhered to and all joints taped. The membrane prevents ground water from coming into contact with concrete. If in doubt, it's best to speak to a damp specialist.
      Our process complies with the building code.

    Thank you for the video . Can you please let me know -Do you put the Dpm then the wood around the building or vice versa?

    • @princenikki
      @princenikki  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the DPM must be laid before installing the wood profile or formwork for the concrete slab casting. The board is usually removed and stored before starting the DPC and the blockwork but in this case we left the boards insitu because it will be required shortly for the columns work. Thanks

    • @princenikki
      @princenikki  ปีที่แล้ว

      DPC is damp proof course. It’s used to prevent raising damp up the walls. We have other videos on the channel on how it’s laid also.

    Damp proof sheets were not used for my fence wall foundation before concrete was cast, is there a way to use the damp proof membrane when laying the blocks for example?? Thanks in advance.

    • @princenikki
      @princenikki  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You don’t need DPM for a fence but the wall must be treated with appropriate damp preventative measures before plastering with waterproof mortar. For more information and advice please contact us on +2332570292792. Thanks
