You need to install a foundation drain. Sometimes called perimeter drain or French drain. These are perforated PVC pipes with holes pointing down that sit a little below the foundation footer. They collect any water that come to the foundation and direct it to the storm drainage or main gutters. Without a foundation drainage water will find it's way through the cold joint of the foundation and then rise up. The cold joint is the interface between the footer, the first mortar and first block work at foundation level. This is where the problem is so foundation drain has been the solution. It is not expensive at all if you know it. Cheers
@@kehindeemiabata4032: perimeter drains or French drain is for waterlogged or flood . Rising damp is a capillary action. It requires a totally different solution
I dont think this will solve the problem because only sides of block will get to be treated. Meanwhile the dampness of the block happens in all 6 sides. I layed porous pipes in my foundation and connect to an exteral reservoire to collect the underground water. This is the only effective way to deal with the issue.
My problem is not a waterlog area. It's just we didn’t do the landscaping at that time. And when it rains, the water will get stuck in certain areas. With the sea breeze, it will start getting a little rough on that side.
Hmm, I suppose, if you are cutting your blocks yourself... you would have to get the chemistry right though... better to inquire with a professional to find out.
As I see it, this treatment only solves the problem on the surface while the dampness in the walls still persists. It's only a matter of time for the rising water to find an escape route. My expectations were that holes would be drilled in the mortar joints at 150mm above ground and 100mm intervals, and the water barrier solution would then be injected to prevent the water from rising. Cheers
Yeah. I know that process, but in this case we don’t have problem with water damage. It’s not a water-log area. It’s a problem with the sea breeze and the raining water come together to form the damage on the wall. Thanks for your advice though 🙏🏽
The area does not have to be water logged to experience damp issues. Brick and mortar naturally absorbs moisture. The treatment so far, though good is not the ultimate treatment for damp. The best damp proofing prevention method is to use the damp proofing membrane which is best applied horizontally and the vertical application. Well done 👍
How much roughly would a damp proofing cost? Or how much was it for your. I believe you mentioned you say how much but didn’t give a break down of cost
A complete waste. I put some nice matching Tile on top of mines. Tiles are very hard...makes good weather proofing....Or you should have just added the new waterproofing material on top... No wasted time in chiseling and loss of money. SMH
Whoever told you tiles are the best way to go is a lie. The tile will cover the surface, but the salt will be eating the walls from inside. Unless your land is not a waterlogged area. There are different ways to go about this my. Get in touch at monalito21@gmail.com for more info.
@@ghanadream No one had to tell me anything .I realised it after seeing the rain eating thru the foundation walls from the outside..I would never have chiseled the secure construction away in any instance. Adding tiles added strength and leak proofing as well as some beautiful aesthetics.

You right, but that is when you are building in a waterlog area. Our situation is different.
@@ghanadream regardless every building needs to have a foundation or perimeter drain as this is essential.
@Setutsi OK, thank you for the advice. I will make sure I inquire about it.
@Setutsi can a perimeter drain be installed after the building has been completed?. I've been having water damage for years. Thank s

Please what of it the damp proof is apply to the window level and the paint start pealing at the top or middle of the building?what causes that??
Hmmm usually damp proof is needed to prevent water damage. It can be a lot reasons why paint is peeling. Weather, paint quality..
Great job bro
Thanks, just trying
I think you need to get them to dig out the side close to your house and level it because you will have the same issues when it rains .
That's the plan trust me, I just have to wait until all the plumbing work was done. We definitely plan to level everything out
You've won my heart ❤ i have just subscribed to your channel thanks
