it just felt too sudden to me. The whole movie he was rejecting him, and before he saw it was Johnny he was even telling them to turn it off. Then all of a sudden, literally no development or build up, because he saw his son being successful and on tv he only now cares?? And then proceeds to miss almost all of his son's performance by breaking out of jail (coulda waited until he finished bc no way he was gonna get there on time). And it just felt like he was "hey I know I didn't care before but since you're good and on tv I'll support you". If Johnny wasn't good or didn't get attention w that performance the dad would've gone on not caring. I'm sure that's not what the writers were going for and they were probably just trying to quickly tie up each character's plot before the movie ended bc they were trying to do too much at once, but as a result the dad's apology felt rushed and fake to me.

Crawly, (the lizard) made a typo so the fliers ended up saying $100k. At one point they tried to impress this one famous person so they remodeled the stage and filled it up with water and covered it with glass instead of wood to make it seem cooler, but then there’s this intense moment where the contestants realize they weren’t actually going to get the 100k and then the stage ends up breaking, causing the theatre to flood which destroyed the entire place. after a sad montage they reunited and rebuilt the theatre (not very well if you couldn’t already tell /s) where they went to sing not for the money but for their actual passions (cheesy ik)
The first Sing movie (haven’t seen the second) is unironically one of my favorite movies. I feel like though the characters aren’t deep, they hit the heart by the realistic struggles they go through: from being too shy to sing to wanting to connect with your parent. It just hits right, y’know?
like the other replies said, while i loved the first one already, the second movie is somehow even better (personally)! the songs are amazing and for a while i would only listen to these songs on repeat
I love watching them conquer their individual struggles and gain the confidence they needed to do what they wanted: Johnny to do what he wanted, Ash to leave Lance and write her own songs, Rosita to pursue her dreams and reignite her marriage -(no one cares about Mike he's rude)- and it's so lovely
I really do suggest your next video for this is to react to the movie! There's a lot of songs and there is different contexts for each one. It's about a talent show, and winning a prize, but it follows a lot of storylines so best to watch it tbh. When it first came out, it was successful but ppl thought it was overrated and 'bland', but I do think it is a great movie for being the first in a series. Not everything needs to be ground breaking provocative storylines, this movie just lets you enjoy music :D
I unironically really love watching this movie, and the sequel. The animation is crisp, the song/singing is beautiful, and story is just plain heartwarming. Also, Matthew dying at the "little mouse" is so funny XD You should definitely give it a watch Matthew.
I now need a part 2 where Mathew hears Tori KILL it with Don't you worry about a thing! And Hallelujah plus the auditions with everyone in the beginning! I genuinely ADORE this movie and its sequel, I can't wait for more! ❤
Matthew, you've been missing out!!! 😩 Stoked that you finally get to see this. They had a great artist lineup too: from Jennifer Hudson to Tori Kelly to Taron Egerton... and the list goes on. I'm actually not a big fan of the sequel, but some people liked it. The first movie however, had a ton of great moments ❤✨
PLEASE listen to the rest of the songs from this movie, and the second one, you absolutely will not regret it. Simply just not recognized enough for the amazing music in these two movies
What I love about these two movies is that it feels like a proper stage performance. They sold that it was taking place ON the stage. All the set pieces look like something plausible. They also spent a lot of time rehearsing their performances they put love into the backstage and before the show, and it's amazing to see. Also you watched them out of order. Pig duet was the first performance.
YESSS some Sing appreciation! I love these movies so much, yeah they're not mindblowing in term of stories, but they're so fun and enjoyable! So underrated, the songs and visuals are amazing too!
Hi Mathew, your videos are so fun and Sing is about this dapper koala who owns a theater and it has fallen in hard times and he puts on one last show which is a singing competition to try and save it, because he loves it more than anything. The contest gets complicated and different things happen. This I think is a good enough way to explain it without spoiling anything, in case you decide to watch it.
I was hoping that the soundtrack from Steve Wonder and Ariana Grande is in here as well. The vocals and instrumentals are really good! (In my opinion.) Have a lovely day Matt!
I have such a soft spot for these movies, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. If you make a part 2, I highly recommend "Could Have Been Me" sung by Halsey in Sing 2, it's so good
If you are looking for suggestions I’d recommend Scooby Doo songs! Some good ones are: Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy- “That’s the Way We Go” Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy- “Blow Ye Winds” Scooby Doo and The Cyber Chase- “Hello Cyberdream” Scooby doo and the Goblin King- “Goblin Oogie Boogie” Scooby doo on Zombie Island- “It’s Terror Time Again” Scooby doo and The Alien Invaders- “How Groovy” Scooby doo! Mystery Incorporated- “Trap of Love” Scooby doo and the Witch’s Ghost- “Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air” Scooby doo and the Witch’s Ghost- “I’m a Hex Girl”
if you do a part 2 of this, i highly recommend "sky full of stars" and "could have been me" from the second movie! loved this video and i'm glad to see a content creator enjoying sing for once :]
My daughter was absolutely OBSESSED with this movie when it first came out. I swear, she had me play the DVD at least 1000 times. There were days where it was the only thing she watched, on repeat, from the moment she woke up until she went to bed. I'm pretty sure I have the whole thing memorized at this point lol. I genuinely feel like it is one of Illumination's best films, and one of the few that feels like they really cared about putting out a great product.
So happy he enjoyed the music but it was kinda frustrating hearing him question everything if he had just watched the movie and not the clips out of order 😂
I haven't read all of the comments but the order of the songs (by preformers) is Gunther and Rosita (the pigs), Johnny, Ash, Mike, and then Meena (the elephant that you missed)
There is a full version of "Set it All Free." I love that song. Given you enjoyed the short bit in movie, you should go have a listen if you haven't yet.
Explaining why there were less audience members in the last clip, the two pigs were the first and people came as it happened. The man in the crowd with all the children is the female pig's husband, and all those kids are theirs.
man, i am SO happy to see this video from you! you're on of my favourite channels and if you decided to watch the whole thing, it'd be amazing if you uploaded it as well! it's a super wholesome feel-good lighthearted movie, just as the sequel, and while it's not perfect, it'll always hold a special place in my heart :D also, all the full songs you watched are from the ending, so i think it'd be fun if you watched the whole thing and gotten context for them :D the covers are also great, and all of them (studio versions! so no interruptions) are on spotify:)
Dude you need to listen to Meena's singing ( the elephant girl with a hoodie ) her voice is incredible. Also I DON'T KNOW why so many people hate her and call her "pick me girl", she's just shy and scared to sing in front of everyone like guys c'mon why ( I hope it makes sense english is not my first language 😅 )
Sing 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time, it’s portrayal of anxiety disorders is so well done and it gets me every time. Every character is so well done and the stakes are wild. It’s such an absurd movie but I love it so much and it’s so fun. Please please please watch it, it would make my month
Sing 1: koala owner of theater sets up singing competition to raise money before bank closes down his theater, antics and shenanigans occur in this endeavor leading to the building destruction and at the end of the movie the cast do a big show just for the love of singing. Sing 2: they take their act to a big entertainment location (think Las Vegas in the USA) where with the promise of a famous recluse celebrity appearing, they set up a massive show Also for your other questions, all those piglets are her kids and she’s voiced by Reese Witherspoon (legally blonde lawyer) and her dance partner is Nick Kroll (the guy who made Big Mouth on Netflix). The wolf girl who sang Girl on Fire is Halsey a famous musician (she also sang Could Have Been Me in the movie). You should watch Sing 1 and 2, because they got a third one in the works
Oh! I really hope you do a part 2! These movies are unironically 2 of my favorites. They’re just so wholesome and fun, and filled with incredibly talented people that sound like they’re enjoying what they’re doing. If you do a part 2, my recommendation is “Hallelujah” from the first movie.
Honestly you should watch the whole movie, its really wholesome and some of the inbetween scenes will make more sense to you (duh). Every character there has their own little plot going on and it's beautiful

Hi Mathew!!!! I love your videos so much! They give me so much joy! I’m in college and I listen to your videos while biking to and from class sometimes! I just back to my dorm and listening to you while riding back really helps the time fly by❤️
Yeah. Sing is such an underrated gem. Unfortunately what kind of killed it was the release of Zootopia a few months before. Some people seemed to think it was a rush job trying to capitalize on Zootpia's success. Similar to how Bug's Life overshadowed Antz, Finding Nemo / Shark tale, Madagascar / The Wild. So on and so forth into perpetuity. So it would be great for more people to see what a fun romp this and the second movie is. Especially given a 3rd was only officially announced this year.
I didn’t really know about it until my cousin (7 years younger/13 y/o) asked if I wanted to see Sing 2 in theatre with him and I did! Then I immediately watched the first one the next day lol
As someone who also discovered Sing through videos of the songs on TH-cam, watching someone go through the same reactions I had was both hilarious and nostalgic.
Part of me is like "stop all the performances are at the end, please just watch the movie". And most of me is like "What do you MEAN the only finale song you skipped was Tori Kelly's Don't You Worry Bout a Thing?!?!?!"
You expressing your feelings throughout this mirrors all of our feelings when we watched it! I never watched it because it looked a little stupid but when I finally did I was blown away. It's such a good and uplifting movie!
It's quite a laugh for me knowing you're watching the song/movie clips almost backwards. The crowds were just slowly started to show up. 😂 Here's their order: Shake It Off I'm Still Standing Set It All Free My Way Don't You With Bout a Thing (don't forget to watch this next video. That's the peak of their "theater show")
When I was younger, I watched specifically the ending of Sing a lot. Over and over during car trips on my lil dvd player, the songs at that part were by far the best part. Actually, looking at some of these scenes, I think the storytelling (visual and dialogue both) were also at their peek during the end show. Like, come on, the jailbars shadowing on Johnny's Dad when he leaves showing that his path is still set in crime- come ON-
Shake It Off was the first performance. The crowd didn’t know about the show until this performance. I’m not going to spoil either movie for you. You’re just going to have to watch it yourself.
I love this movie soooo much and think it's so underappreciated. I've seen the first one more times than I can count and the second one isn't bad either! The plot is essentially that the koala (Matthew McConaughey btw!) is struggling to keep up a theater that his late father saved up to buy for him, so he decides to host a singing competition, where the winner will get a thousand dollars. Each of the individual characters are shown with their own struggles in relation to singing; the pig (Reese Witherspoon!) has a passion for singing but has to take care of her large family and has a husband that doesn't appreciate her. The porcupine/Scar Jo has a toxic boyfriend who won't let her sing in the band they used to have and then cheats on her. The gorilla is part of a crime gang with his dad but wants to be a singer instead, but when he reveals this his dad essentially disowns him and then later ends up in jail. The mouse is essentially just an asshole hehe. But basically they all audition for the contest. The only thing is that the koala doesn't realize he accidentally advertised a 100 thousand dollar prize by accident, and there's a ton of chaos where he desperately tries to get more money but ends up destroying his precious theater in the process and by the end he's considered an absolute joke who should've quit earlier. After some time though he realizes what's really important and gets everyone back to try and rebuild the theater and put on a performance (in the start only some family members come, which is why there are so few people for the pigs' performance, and it's being broadcasted because they think it's going to be terrible, and then more people come when they realize how good they actually are) not for money, but because it's their passion and what they love. Although you ABSOLUTELY need to make a part 2 where you react to Tori Kelly's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" cuz it's awesome and the elephant definitely has one of the best arcs of them all :)) Sorry for the long comment and thanks for the awesome video!!
First off, I would love to see a reaction to this movie, even if it's not something you usually do. There is a lot of good music in it to react to though! ;D Maybe someone already answered, but it's esentially a movie with multiple protagonists, and it keeps switching between their lives. Buster Moon the Koala owns a theatre but is running it into the ground, so he starts a talent show, which gets expedited by a typo in the prize money (too many zeroes). Lots of animals go to try outs and only a few remain by the end of the movie to do a final performance after a lot of things go wrong for many of them. That's why there was no audience in the 'Shake it off' performance, the people only started coming to watch after that.
Basically what happened was it was a singing competition for 1,000 dollars but Mr moons (the koala) worker accidentally added 2 more zeros which made it into 100,000 watch the movie and you’ll see how it plays out. But at the end shake it off was actually the first song so nobody knew about it (you’ll know why when you watch the movie) But after it was aired more and more people kept showing up which is why the crown suddenly disappeared
15:30 it's so funny how Seth MacFarlane, who plays the little mouse doing a cover of Frank Sinatra, was also musically trained by the same people that trained Frank Sinatra.
This movie is like a guilty pleassure for me xD I don't care what others say, I think this movie was great! The animation was absolutely amazing, the characters all (except the mouse, which I think was the point) where really likeable and interesting, and they all had a well executed characters arc that came full circle in the end! Plus, I'm a sucker for found family, and I just loved that the contestants low key turned into one during the movie! XD

_Peter Griffin can sing?_
@@singingofsilver SAME THOUGHT HERE?? WHAT
@@alecat9990yeah Seth McFarlane has a singing career.
@@singingofsilver yes Seth can, professionally too
You didn't include the the part where Meena sings "Don't You Worry Bout' a Thing". That was the best part of the movie 😭😭😭 (at least for me)
FR IM LITERALLY SO UPSET THAT HE DIDN'T REACT TO IT 😭
The first Sing movie (haven’t seen the second) is unironically one of my favorite movies. I feel like though the characters aren’t deep, they hit the heart by the realistic struggles they go through: from being too shy to sing to wanting to connect with your parent. It just hits right, y’know?
You need to watch the second one it's amazing
@@aliahmedbanoo69420 I think its even better than the 1st one!
like the other replies said, while i loved the first one already, the second movie is somehow even better (personally)! the songs are amazing and for a while i would only listen to these songs on repeat
PLEASE do a part 2! Mina’s (the elephants) vocals from her song in the first movie were actually amazing!
Also, Matthew dying at the "little mouse" is so funny XD
You should definitely give it a watch Matthew.
I like the songs in Sing 1, but I think the songs in the Sing 2 final performances are amazing😁
I agree, Sing 2 is a step up even though the original Sing songs are good, gosh Sing 2 is a step up
I now need a part 2 where Mathew hears Tori KILL it with Don't you worry about a thing! And Hallelujah plus the auditions with everyone in the beginning! I genuinely ADORE this movie and its sequel, I can't wait for more! ❤
Matthew, you've been missing out!!! 😩
Stoked that you finally get to see this. They had a great artist lineup too: from Jennifer Hudson to Tori Kelly to Taron Egerton... and the list goes on.
I'm actually not a big fan of the sequel, but some people liked it. The first movie however, had a ton of great moments ❤✨
The effort Mathew puts into his videos is insane huge props to him.
(In my opinion.)
Have a lovely day Matt!
Love that cover! I remember being OBSESSED with it!
i love these movies!! you have no idea how excited i got when i saw this notif, so glad youre checking them out!! theyre such comfort films for me
Taron Egerton is Welsh. I love how he went from singing this in Sing to playing Elton John in Rocketman
I have such a soft spot for these movies, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. If you make a part 2, I highly recommend "Could Have Been Me" sung by Halsey in Sing 2, it's so good
lol. I just couldn't stop laughing at the fact Mathew forgot he was listening to the songs out of order and asked where the audience was.
Sing and Sing 2 are such underrated movies. I'm really hoping for a 3rd one.
13:50 Come rain, come shine, come sleet come hail - the show must go on......
To this day for the last 7 years, i’m still wondering what the heck happened to Mike the Seth Mcfarlane Mouse.
Pretty sure he ded
If you are looking for suggestions I’d recommend Scooby Doo songs! Some good ones are:
Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy- “That’s the Way We Go”
Scooby Doo: Pirates Ahoy- “Blow Ye Winds”
Scooby Doo and The Cyber Chase- “Hello Cyberdream”
Scooby doo and the Goblin King- “Goblin Oogie Boogie”
Scooby doo on Zombie Island- “It’s Terror Time Again”
Scooby doo and The Alien Invaders- “How Groovy”
Scooby doo! Mystery Incorporated- “Trap of Love”
Scooby doo and the Witch’s Ghost- “Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air”
Scooby doo and the Witch’s Ghost- “I’m a Hex Girl”
Or like ANY of the songs from Scooby Doo Music of the vampire you know the musical.
I swear to god the Hex Girls turned many a teen
if you do a part 2 of this, i highly recommend "sky full of stars" and "could have been me" from the second movie! loved this video and i'm glad to see a content creator enjoying sing for once :]
Seth MacFarlane (the mouse), is amazing. Managing to be the voice of Peter Griffin and pull off GORGEOUS Sinatra songs I’d so amazing
The cut away during Ash's song was her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, which is why the girl said she is not that good
I haven't read all of the comments but the order of the songs (by preformers) is Gunther and Rosita (the pigs), Johnny, Ash, Mike, and then Meena (the elephant that you missed)
There is a full version of "Set it All Free." I love that song. Given you enjoyed the short bit in movie, you should go have a listen if you haven't yet.
This movie is one of my favorites from Illumination!
It's just fun and nice, and it does a good job with the characters too
Scarlet has a band. She was a vocalist. The song was so good melodically and lyrically, I play and sing it all the time.
Explaining why there were less audience members in the last clip, the two pigs were the first and people came as it happened. The man in the crowd with all the children is the female pig's husband, and all those kids are theirs.
man, i am SO happy to see this video from you! you're on of my favourite channels and if you decided to watch the whole thing, it'd be amazing if you uploaded it as well! it's a super wholesome feel-good lighthearted movie, just as the sequel, and while it's not perfect, it'll always hold a special place in my heart :D also, all the full songs you watched are from the ending, so i think it'd be fun if you watched the whole thing and gotten context for them :D
the covers are also great, and all of them (studio versions! so no interruptions) are on spotify:)
I love the dad... He didn't escape before because he didn't want to. And he knows he'll be caught, but he wanted to be there for his son.
Community has some really good songs. I recommend that you watch it, since it's kinda like a live action Gumball
Sing 2: they take their act to a big entertainment location (think Las Vegas in the USA) where with the promise of a famous recluse celebrity appearing, they set up a massive show
Also for your other questions, all those piglets are her kids and she’s voiced by Reese Witherspoon (legally blonde lawyer) and her dance partner is Nick Kroll (the guy who made Big Mouth on Netflix).
"it's not just a title. it's a command. SING."
*Matthew proceeds to look into your soul*
Lol
I would geniually sit through Matt reacting to the whole movie, even both of them
Honestly you should watch the whole movie, its really wholesome and some of the inbetween scenes will make more sense to you (duh). Every character there has their own little plot going on and it's beautiful
MATHEW WE NEED SOME EVER AFTER HIGH CONTENT 😭😭
FRR I NEED HIM TO WATCH THE WAY TO WONDERLAND PARTS/SEASON 😭😭
y'all gotta c h i l l lol it's been a few weeks, that doesn't mean im ditching it. i just want other people to see the content they want too so i dont become an ever after high channel
@@MathewMcKenna ok yea fair point now i feel dumb lmao idk i thought u forgot abt it or smth 💀
I absolutely love the scene where he’s like “That’s my son!!” To “That’s my son.” And then breaks out of jail like “THATS MY SON!”
Hi Mathew!!!! I love your videos so much! They give me so much joy! I’m in college and I listen to your videos while biking to and from class sometimes! I just back to my dorm and listening to you while riding back really helps the time fly by❤️
Scar Jo also sings some in the live action Jungle Book where she voiced Kaa the snake if you're lookin for a different vibe on her voice
I forgot that she did singing in that movie.
Ok you need to see the rest of this movie
They stories these performances have are iconic (also Hallelujah from this movie is insane)
Ohhhhh more please
Hallelujah- sing
I say a little prayer - sing 2
I still haven't found what I've been looking for -sing 2
A sky full of stars-sing 2
This movie is mad underrated, it’s such a comfort movie for me. It’s so heartwarming and the songs are so good. So glad ppl are still discovering it
I didn’t really know about it until my cousin (7 years younger/13 y/o) asked if I wanted to see Sing 2 in theatre with him and I did!
Then I immediately watched the first one the next day lol
20:27, a down on his luck koala holds a singing competition as a last ditch publicity stunt to save his theatre from being shut down
PLLLSS DO A PART 2 I'm a huge fan of the Sing movies and seeing you reacted to the music genuinely makes me happy!
11:10
Bro I forgot that mf existed 😭😭
As someone who also discovered Sing through videos of the songs on TH-cam, watching someone go through the same reactions I had was both hilarious and nostalgic.
Part of me is like "stop all the performances are at the end, please just watch the movie". And most of me is like "What do you MEAN the only finale song you skipped was Tori Kelly's Don't You Worry Bout a Thing?!?!?!"
You expressing your feelings throughout this mirrors all of our feelings when we watched it! I never watched it because it looked a little stupid but when I finally did I was blown away. It's such a good and uplifting movie!
How i didnt notice before, see you react to this entire movies is going to be the best. They are a music show
The mouse being Peter Griffin makes me love the character even more
I always love your content, another great video Matt! 😍
It's quite a laugh for me knowing you're watching the song/movie clips almost backwards. The crowds were just slowly started to show up. 😂
Here's their order:
Shake It Off
I'm Still Standing
Set It All Free
My Way
Don't You With Bout a Thing (don't forget to watch this next video.
Like, come on, the jailbars shadowing on Johnny's Dad when he leaves showing that his path is still set in crime- come ON-
"Where's the crowd?" Keep in mind, you tend to watch these out of order... 🤣🤣🤣
I would also love a part two! Please!
My favorites are Don't You Worry Bout a Thing, Could Have Been Me, Golden Slumbers, and Break Free
Each song relates to the character's personal story in some way
Congradulations Mathew, you have convinced me to finally watch the Sing movies!
Shake It Off was the first performance. The crowd didn’t know about the show until this performance. I’m not going to spoil either movie for you. You’re just going to have to watch it yourself.
omg I remember this seeing this movie in theaters
yo ur first haha
@@MathewMcKennaomg should i have said first or is that too basic
Rosita and Gunter: Sings “Shake it off” with hella trap beats in it
Me: *Vibes*
Mathew: *Has a stroke*
I absolutely love this movie and the sequel so much!! I’m just smiling this whole time :)
I cant believe this was posted 40 seconds ago- but you should SERIOUSLY listen to the family crest if you havent already, they are amazing.
I love the no-context, first time viewing reactions. Keep ‘em coming! ❤️
Although you ABSOLUTELY need to make a part 2 where you react to Tori Kelly's "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" cuz it's awesome and the elephant definitely has one of the best arcs of them all :))
Sorry for the long comment and thanks for the awesome video!!
I can't believe you haven't reacted to this yet, this was my Childhood! Thanks for the reaction!!❤
more sing reactions!! i love these movies. they're so much fun and full of heart
This movie has such good vibes and I’m glad you got the same feelings just from these clips
First off, I would love to see a reaction to this movie, even if it's not something you usually do. There is a lot of good music in it to react to though! ;D
Maybe someone already answered, but it's esentially a movie with multiple protagonists, and it keeps switching between their lives.
But at the end shake it off was actually the first song so nobody knew about it (you’ll know why when you watch the movie)
But after it was aired more and more people kept showing up which is why the crown suddenly disappeared
For someone who's really into music. There seems to be a ton of music related movies and shows you haven't seen
the fact he ended up watching them out of order cracks me up so much. He's so confused by why they doing things connected to previous songs lmao
This was fun watching your reaction! I loved seeing how invested you got. Well done. Sing2 is very good too!
I need you to watch more Sing songs, especially from the elephant lady. I feel like you would've flipped a table after hearing her voice 😂❤
flipping a table is absolutely correct, I'll be surprised if we don't see that very thing happen
15:30 it's so funny how Seth MacFarlane, who plays the little mouse doing a cover of Frank Sinatra, was also musically trained by the same people that trained Frank Sinatra.
This movie is like a guilty pleassure for me xD
I don't care what others say, I think this movie was great!
The animation was absolutely amazing, the characters all (except the mouse, which I think was the point) where really likeable and interesting, and they all had a well executed characters arc that came full circle in the end! Plus, I'm a sucker for found family, and I just loved that the contestants low key turned into one during the movie! XD
